One was sailing smoothly, while the other faced a bumpy road ahead. The sweet warmth of their passionate love gradually faded, and conflicts between them grew increasingly frequent, with quarrels and disputes escalating.
It wasn’t that Li Hui didn’t care about Han Siyu’s future. Rather, he firmly believed that one must strive to achieve their goals through hard work and diligence. As an actor, he thought it essential to possess solid professional skills and technical abilities. Even though he had the backing of the Li family, aside from their protection, he rarely relied on their influence. Instead, he dedicated himself to honing his various skills.
Had Li Hui truly wanted to, securing a high-profile role to gain popularity and fame wouldn’t have been an issue. Yet, he chose to work as an extra in one production after another, attending classes diligently and training hard after hours.
Unlike Li Hui, who had formal training, Han Siyu lacked professional skills. Li Hui hoped to guide her in grounding herself, improving her abilities, or even asking his family to help her enroll in a school to enhance her cultural and professional skills. However, Han Siyu was unwilling to endure the hardship.
Though Han Siyu had a neglectful father and a stepmother, her family circumstances were still decent. As the leftover child from her father’s previous marriage, her status at home might not have matched that of her step-siblings, but she hadn’t suffered much hardship either. Unfortunately, Han Siyu was lazy and preferred reaping rewards without putting in effort.
Han Siyu dreamed of becoming a big star, drawn by the allure of easy money, the dazzling spotlight, and the adoration that would satisfy her vanity. She agreed to be with Li Hui mainly because he had good connections in the industry, wore nice clothes, and came from a well-off family—she saw him as a shortcut. Little did she know, Li Hui was a self-made advocate.
Their differing values naturally widened the rift between them.
While Han Siyu began scouting for her next target, Li Hui refused to accept the truth, deluding himself into believing Han Siyu still loved him.
Hearing this, Xu Yi’an shook his head. Being inexperienced in love made one easily deceived. In relationships, one must learn to see clearly and know when to cut losses. Clinging to someone clearly unsuitable was nothing but self-inflicted misery.
Li Hui couldn’t believe his first love was such a woman, but his family saw through her clearly. His parents, though not sharp enough to instantly recognize Han Siyu’s true nature, understood the look of genuine love. They disapproved of the relationship, and even out of respect for their son, couldn’t bring themselves to like her.
This led to conflicts between Li Hui and his family.
Eventually, Li Hui chose to run away from home, determined to give his relationship with Han Siyu one last try. Though reluctant, his family didn’t stop him, hoping the experience would help him grow. They discreetly arranged for people to watch over him but offered no overt assistance.
Despite being a wealthy young master, Li Hui wasn’t afraid of hardship. He had endured much while honing his acting skills, maintaining a fit physique, and mastering other talents.
With his excellent acting skills, resilience, high emotional intelligence, and good rapport, Li Hui gradually improved, starting from minor roles and slowly gaining traction in his career. Han Siyu, however, was different.
Unwilling to work hard like Li Hui, she constantly sought shortcuts, looking down on others at the bottom like her. Over time, she faced rejection from the crew.
Most people on set were from humble backgrounds. Being ostracized by them made life difficult for Han Siyu. Those in higher positions had no reason to defend her either, as she offered them no value.
Han Siyu’s antics even dragged Li Hui down. Once, she angered a crew supervisor’s daughter, losing her role and costing Li Hui a rare opportunity. Had he seized that chance, his talent might have propelled him to fame. Instead, his hard work vanished like bubbles.
This led to a cold war between them. Han Siyu, however, was happy to part ways, eager to find a benefactor who could make her famous and wealthy.
Seeing her like this, Li Hui grew uncertain, his confusion affecting his work and life. Finally, when Han Siyu slept with a sponsor for gain, Li Hui made up his mind.
As the scion of the Li family, pride ran deep in him. Leaving their shared apartment, memories of Han Siyu’s tenderness and scorn clashed in his mind, leaving him lost on the streets, unsure where to go.
Then, he met Xu Yi’an.
Xu Yi’an sighed and urged Li Hui to reconcile with his family. The Li family, vast and influential, surely knew of his struggles. Pride had kept them from apologizing, but a little humility from Li Hui would melt their hearts.
Li Hui had missed home countless times. Why had he stubbornly refused to return, even after realizing his mistake? It was youthful pride, plain and simple.
After a long talk, Li Hui thanked Xu Yi’an and Chu Yan, apologizing for disrupting their date. “I think it’s time I went home. See you next time.”
With that, he took the path he’d imagined so often. Xu Yi’an and Chu Yan exchanged glances, cheeks flushed, before Xu Yi’an suggested dinner to change the subject.
Li Hui returned home, reconciled with his family, and enjoyed a warm dinner. Xu Yi’an cooked for Chu Yan, aiming to win his heart through his stomach. Han Siyu, however, wasn’t so fortunate.
Unlike Li Hui, she had no one to check on her. After lying unconscious till evening, she woke up—no longer the same Han Siyu.
Rubbing her head, she looked around in shock. “Where is this? Why is it so shabby? Was I kidnapped?”
Since becoming Brother Ze’s girlfriend, she’d lived luxuriously with Qin Ze. How could she be in such a dingy place? Even before that, after meeting Brother Yan, she’d never suffered like this.
Though the place felt familiar, her throbbing head prevented deeper thought. She grabbed her phone to call Qin Ze for help. If he couldn’t come, one of her many “brothers” surely would, as they always had.
But upon seeing the date, she froze.
“How… how… How am I back three years ago?” Recognizing the room she’d shared with Li Hui, she panicked.
Desperately, she searched for proof this was a nightmare—that she was still the glamorous star, Qin Ze’s fiancée, the darling of wealthy elites. Not this wretched version of herself!
After what felt like ages, she sat on the cold floor, calming herself with deep breaths.
A confident, ambitious smile spread across her face.
So what if she was back? She’d succeeded once; she’d do it again—even better this time, armed with foreknowledge.
Refreshed, she dressed up for a fancy dinner, planning her grand comeback. Knowing the future, how could she not surpass her past glory?
After all, she was a born winner. With this second chance, greater success was inevitable!
