Chapter 173: Counterstrike

With the aid of Song Zining’s domain barrier, Qian Ye and the others were able to gather together and then followed Song Zining as they dashed towards the Zhang Clan’s main force.

The battlefield was now in utter chaos. As elite warriors from the dark races arrived one after another, they could encounter enemies at any moment. In such a situation, flying through the air would be sheer suicide; they could only run on the ground.

As for the remaining Wei Family private soldiers, Song Zining had already given them orders before leaving, instructing them to find advantageous terrain nearby to hold their ground, awaiting rescue or further commands.

After running for a while, Song Zining’s face suddenly flushed an abnormal red, and he spat out a mouthful of blood, saying, “The domain has been broken.”

Only then did Wei Potian give Song Zining a proper look, somewhat grudgingly saying, “Your domain seems to have some use after all.”

But to Qian Ye, Song Zining’s domain was far more than just useful. It had managed to trap so many formidable enemies for such a long time, and even continued to function automatically when its user had fled. It was simply incredible.

If Qian Ye’s sea vortex was a manifestation of pushing power to the extreme, then Song Zining was climbing the peak of ingenuity and variation. Their development paths were different, making it hard to compare, but one thing was clear: compared to the domains of other strong individuals of the same level, both were masterpieces.

Several figures were swiftly pursuing from a distance. Apart from the Bloodline Baron, Dusk, and William, several more Viscount-level powerhouses had joined, and two high-speed gunboats also emerged from the clouds, flying full speed ahead.

However, with Song Zining’s domain obstructing them, the gap between the two sides had widened to several thousand meters. Moreover, Song Zining and Zhao Yuying were both fast, and although Wei Potian was the slowest, Qian Ye subtly gave him a boost, keeping him close behind Song Zining. The distance between them gradually increased.

Seeing that they were about to escape, the Bloodline Baron let out a sharp, piercing cry and suddenly took to the air, flying at full speed, rapidly closing the gap.

Song Zining’s expression changed slightly, and he shouted, “He’s courting death! We need to speed up! Qian Ye, don’t hold back anymore, take Wei Potian and run faster!”

Qian Ye nodded, increasing his pace, finally unleashing his formidable strength. Each stride covered dozens of meters, and by bouncing back and forth between the valleys and hills, he quickly put great distance between them.

Song Zining watched in amazement, then spread his domain, causing a strong wind to blow, propelling him and Zhao Yuying forward. Their speed suddenly increased by 20%, though still not quite matching the Bloodline Baron’s flying speed, but it was close enough that they weren’t easily caught. However, Qian Ye’s speed was too fast, relying solely on his physical prowess, he overtook Song Zining, who was using both his domain and arcane arts. The distance between them rapidly widened, first to 200 meters, then 500 meters, and in the blink of an eye, it exceeded a kilometer.

Suddenly, a leaf floated past Qian Ye, carrying the slightly exasperated voice of Song Zining, “Qian Ye! Damn it, don’t run so fast. It’s not like we really want to lose him!”

Qian Ye hesitated and slowed down, waiting for Song Zining and Zhao Yuying to catch up, maintaining a distance of about 100 meters. At this point, the wind around Song Zining and Zhao Yuying was roaring, indicating they were giving it their all. They couldn’t even speak, let alone send a message to Qian Ye through a floating leaf.

The pursuer and the pursued, the distance slowly closed. The Bloodline Baron’s eyes were bloodshot, with surging blood energy, trailing a red cloud in the air as he gave chase. In a short while, they crossed several hills and ran dozens of kilometers. In the distance, the Zhang Clan’s guard fleet was already faintly visible on the horizon.

Just then, one of the warships in the fleet turned and flew towards them. Its speed was extraordinary, reaching several kilometers away in the blink of an eye. Then, with a violent shake, it fired a massive arrow, radiating a pale green light!

The arrow was two meters long, swift as lightning. When it was fired, the full-speed sprinting warship jolted, its speed drastically reduced, highlighting the arrow’s power!

Qian Ye’s pupils contracted, instantly sensing that this massive crossbow bolt was extraordinary, possibly much heavier than it appeared.

The Bloodline Baron, seeing the arrow heading straight for him, was terrified, letting out a strange cry as he desperately dodged to the side. But the crossbow bolt veered, still firmly locking onto the Bloodline Baron, striking him in an instant.

The Bloodline Baron let out a shrill, agonizing scream, exploding into a cloud of blood mist. The arrow also exploded, emitting a dazzling silver light that illuminated the blood mist, igniting puffs of green smoke as if doused with strong acid.

From the blood mist, another excruciating scream echoed, and a red fog burst out of the silver light, flying away. With his true vision, Qian Ye saw that the Bloodline Baron’s blood core was hidden within the mist.

Indeed, this Bloodline Baron was no pushover, with an endless array of secret techniques. Even after being reduced to a blood core, he managed to escape, which explained why he could chase Zhao Yuying here.

If it were anyone else, he might have escaped, and with the Blood Pool, he could potentially regenerate a new body. But encountering Qian Ye, with his true vision, it was only bad luck. Qian Ye raised Thunder, took a quick aim, and locked onto the blood core obscured by the blood mist, blasting it to pieces.

The warship circled once in the air, confirming the results, and then returned to the fleet.

The shattered blood core caused a crimson rain, staining a large area of the wasteland. Looking at the falling blood rain, Qian Ye couldn’t help but ask, “Yuying, what exactly did you do to make him hate you so much, willing to risk his life to hunt you down?”

Zhao Yuying shrugged, saying, “I didn’t do much, just destroyed the other transport and supply ships in his little fleet, that’s all.”

As she spoke, Zhao Yuying placed her chin in her hand, thoughtful, “Judging by his reaction, his entire family must have been on those transport ships. Did I really wipe them out completely?”

“It seems likely,” Song Zining said, clapping his hands, “Alright, let’s rest for a bit. We need to go back and rescue the Wei Family soldiers. If more of them die, someone will be coming after me.”

Wei Potian’s expression was grave, unusually not snapping at Song Zining. He looked into the distance and said, “It might not be that easy. Just that werewolf is a tough opponent.”

Everyone could hear the weight in Wei Potian’s voice, showing how much he valued these soldiers. But with the powerful adversaries gathering, even after taking out a Baron, the pursuers’ strength was still beyond their reach. William alone was unfathomable. After fighting side by side for so long, Wei Potian knew Song Zining and Zhao Yuying well, realizing that even together, they might not be able to defeat William, not to mention Dusk and his other powerful subordinates. And who knew how many more dark powerhouses were on their way.

Wei Potian was well aware that if they were trapped, the consequences would be dire.

At that moment, Qian Ye patted Wei Potian’s shoulder, saying, “I’ll deal with the werewolf. You handle the rest.”

“How is that possible?” Wei Potian exclaimed instinctively.

Not only Wei Potian, but Song Zining and Zhao Yuying also fixed their gazes on Qian Ye. Although the recent confrontation was brief, they all felt the terror of William. One-on-one, perhaps only Song Zining, relying on his domain, could escape.

Qian Ye raised his hand, stopping Zhao Yuying from speaking, and said, “Zining was right. Now is not the time to hold back. Don’t worry, I’ll handle the werewolf. You take care of the rest.”

Knowing that this was no time for delay, Song Zining decisively said, “Fine, let’s do it.”

The four of them immediately turned around and charged back.

William was leisurely running across the ground, looking as if he were on a sunny afternoon jog rather than a battlefield. Beside him, Dusk, with a grim expression, was walking in silence. Behind them, more Bloodline Warriors kept appearing, forming a large arc, closing in from the front.

She suddenly turned to William, shouting, “Soon they’ll escape to the fleet! Why aren’t you chasing them?”

William lazily replied, “So what? I’m not slower than you.”

Dusk gritted her teeth, knowing from William’s demeanor that he wasn’t giving it his all. But she was already going all out, unable to go any faster. To go faster, she’d have to fly, but with the possibility of snipers everywhere, Dusk didn’t want to risk it.

Her expression changed, thinking about how to file a complaint against William after this battle, to make him suffer.

Just then, William’s expression changed, and he slowed down. Lost in thought, Dusk suddenly found herself in front. She turned, her face filled with anger, and shouted, “What are you doing now?”

William’s face grew serious, slowing to a stop, staring ahead. Dusk then noticed a thick fog had formed in front, blocking the path.

Qian Ye slowly stepped out of the fog, saying, “William, I truly wish we hadn’t met under such circumstances.”

William scratched his head, sighing, “Me too, but what can we do? We can’t avoid it.”

Qian Ye said coolly, “If we can’t avoid it, then let’s get started.”

William thought for a moment, then his eyes lit up, saying, “Right, we should at least try. We haven’t fought properly yet.”

Dusk’s expression fluctuated. She was used to being the center of attention, but these two men had completely ignored her from the start. For some reason, she felt an inexplicable fear towards Qian Ye, so she decided to bear the humiliation and let them fight first, to gauge Qian Ye’s capabilities.

William was straightforward, charging at Qian Ye and delivering a punch to the chest.

Qian Ye, with a serious expression, blocked the punch with both hands, and they entered a stalemate.

Watching from the side, Dusk nearly spat blood. What was this?

William’s punch was neither fast nor heavy, without any signs of origin power, almost like a normal person. Qian Ye’s block was equally ordinary, not even a basic fighting stance, something any random warrior from the dark army could surpass.

Was this supposed to be a battle between top young powerhouses of the two factions?

Yet, both were expressive, William’s face red as if he was exerting every ounce of strength, while Qian Ye was intensely focused, as if the punch was the most powerful technique, requiring his full attention.

These two, couldn’t they be less obvious? They were practically begging for others to notice!

At that moment, William yelled, “Impressive!” and stepped back, seemingly ending the fight.

Qian Ye, shamelessly, responded, “Same to you.” His expression suggested he genuinely believed it.

Dusk felt her anger surge, and everything went black.
