Chapter 210: Fierce Ruthlessness

The scream not only shattered the silence of the Unfallen City but also drove away Ji Tianqing’s drowsiness from drinking. Her eyes, once filled with confusion and unseeing, suddenly widened as she was startled by the sudden shriek. Before her, a Spider Demon materialized, transforming into its true form, scurrying on all eight legs toward the courtyard wall, attempting to escape.

Without thinking, Ji Tianqing instinctively reached out and grabbed the hind leg of the Spider Demon, saying, “Little spider, where do you think you’re going?”

Spider Demons were known for their ferocious strength. Although this one was not exceptionally large, its body was covered in natural armor, dark and metallic. This particular clan of Spider Demons was renowned for their swiftness and brute power. Yet, in Ji Tianqing’s grip, it seemed as fragile as a baby spider, flung to the ground and then snapped, all eight legs broken, cast aside like refuse.

After accomplishing this, Ji Tianqing suddenly remembered something, looking down at herself, and let out a startled cry, “My image!!”

She immediately reigned in her terrifying aura, akin to that of a primordial dragon, and attempted to hide her true face. However, at that moment, a chill permeated the courtyard, and Li Kuanglan, full of mockery, said, “You still have an image to worry about?!”

He rose, drawing his sword, Cold Moon Veil, casting a blue watery glow, encircling several Eternal Night warriors within its reach.

As the blue light appeared, the Eternal Night warriors cried out, “Cold Moon Veil! How did this sword get here?!”

They didn’t recognize Li Kuanglan, but they knew the sword he wielded. Anyone who could use this blade was likely to possess one of the two most terrifying sword techniques.

A trap! The thought flashed through the minds of many Eternal Night warriors, and their resolve wavered.

Shadow Wolf, the first to enter the courtyard, was the fastest, slashing a claw towards Song Zining’s neck. With his razor-sharp talons, slicing through armored war vehicles was child’s play, and beheading a drunken Song Zining should have been effortless. Yet, the slash, which should have already cut deep, seemed to struggle against invisible muck, each inch forward incredibly difficult.

Shadow Wolf, growing increasingly anxious, desperately swung his claws. Ji Tianqing and Li Kuanglan could come to his aid at any moment, but no matter how hard he tried, his claws moved agonizingly slow, as if caught in a snare.

At that instant, the scene before him distorted and shattered, revealing a table reduced to splinters. The ground was riddled with claw marks, almost gouging out a large pit. Song Zining was no longer where he stood, now standing a short distance away, smiling.

Shadow Wolf finally realized what he had seen was an illusion.

Beside him, Zhao Yuying abruptly sat up, her eyes ablaze, roaring, “Can’t I even sleep in peace anymore?!”

Awake, she instantly noticed the courtyard filled with Eternal Night warriors, energized, ready for a fight.

But at that moment, the Eternal Night warriors suddenly turned and leaped over the courtyard walls, vanishing in moments. This sudden change left Zhao Yuying’s blood boiling, turning icy cold, and she stood there, dumbfounded. The Eternal Night warriors scattered in all directions, leaving no clear target to pursue. In the blink of an eye, all enemies vanished into the night, leaving no trace.

Li Kuanglan leisurely sheathed his sword, examining the blood on its blade, thoroughly satisfied.

Zhao Yuying felt inexplicably uncomfortable, spotting the Spider Demon, all its legs broken, lying on its back in the courtyard. This method was all too familiar to her, and her anger found an outlet. She shouted at Ji Tianqing, “You crossed the line! I can tolerate you in other things, but if you steal my opponent, I won’t stand for it! If you dare again, I won’t be so forgiving.”

Ji Tianqing, undaunted by Zhao Yuying’s threat, perhaps feeling her image was already tarnished, simply raised a middle finger, saying, “No need to be polite. Come, pay me the gambling debt first!”

Zhao Yuying, momentarily speechless, her momentum dropping, fell silent.

At that moment, Zhao Ruoxi awoke. She leapt up gracefully, stepping delicately over the noble girls. Every eye in the courtyard, those of the prodigies, had seen Zhao Ruoxi inadvertently trample over every single girl, some who were about to wake up were stepped on and sent back to unconsciousness. Any who had a grudge against Zhao Ruoxi felt a chill. Ji Tianqing’s face darkened, the earlier domineering demeanor faded.

Zhao Ruoxi, lifting her skirt, looked around and said, “Another fight, huh? You all can fight, I’ll sit this one out.”

With that, she rose into the air, the River of Styx’s light and shadow shifting, and she drifted away. Though the Unfallen City was rife with intrigue, no one dared provoke Zhao Ruoxi, surrounded by blooming flowers of the other shore.

Once Zhao Ruoxi left, the atmosphere in the courtyard relaxed. But after a glance between Ji Tianqing and Li Kuanglan, the air filled with murderous intent again.

Both snorted, leaping into the air, flying in opposite directions. Song Zining and Zhao Yuying had also chosen their targets, departing without delay. In moments, the courtyard was left with Qian Ye and Wei Potian, still snoring.

Qian Ye leaned against the wall, quietly observing the changes. It wasn’t entirely calm, but rather due to the lingering effects of alcohol, slowing his reactions. When Shadow Wolf attacked Song Zining, and the Spider Demon pounced on Ji Tianqing, he wanted to intervene, but his mind and body were out of sync.

This wasn’t solely due to sluggishness, but rather Qian Ye sensing no real threat. His perception was peculiar, seeing Song Zining as a mass of hidden, razor-sharp blades, dangerous to touch. Ji Tianqing, Zhao Ruoxi, and Li Kuanglan, on the other hand, were a living volcano, ready to erupt at the slightest provocation, deadly to approach.

Qian Ye shook his head, dispelling the last of the dizziness. At that moment, he noticed a crack in a wine barrel, a pair of gleaming eyes peeking out, scanning the surroundings.

“He’s awake, too…” Qian Ye thought, walking over to the barrel, slamming the lid down, trapping William inside. Feeling unsatisfied, he picked up a bone, threw it in, and sealed the lid, muffling William’s angry snarls within.

Qian Ye leaped onto the wall, his eyes turning a deep blue. In his True Sight, the Unfallen City was dotted with powerful clusters of dark origin power. He casually chose a nearby target and flew off.

As he left the courtyard, Qian Ye vaguely recalled doing something that would infuriate someone, but the details eluded him.

In the courtyard, Wei Potian, annoyed, yawned and opened his eyes. Looking around, he saw nothing but a few nobles lying in a corner, their bodies marked with small footprints. In another corner lay a Spider Demon, legs broken, resigned to its fate.

No one else was in sight.

Wei Potian, holding his aching head, cursed under his breath. Suddenly, a loud bang beside him made him jump. Turning, he saw a wine barrel explode, a silver dog leaping out.

Wei Potian dimly remembered this was Zhao Ruoxi’s dog, now covered in dirt and wine, clearly having had a nightmare. Thinking of those vicious women, Wei Potian felt pity for the handsome dog and wanted to comfort it.

How to comfort a dog was common knowledge. Wei Potian reached for a bone.

But the silver dog vanished, and a heavy blow struck Wei Potian’s head, sending him back to the table, unconscious.

William, finally triumphant, glanced disdainfully at Wei Potian, shaking his fur, ready to howl. But opening his mouth, he realized his mistake and swallowed the howl.

William remembered the day. The great battle was set to begin. He was qualified to participate in the clash of the young elites from both factions, and knew the Unfallen City was teeming with young Eternal Night warriors. Despite arriving on time, his method of entry was too humiliating, and he yearned to leave this place quickly.

Moreover, after the previous night, William knew how outdated and poor the Council’s intelligence was, underestimating the vicious women, and even Wei Potian and Song Zining. As for Qian Ye, the intelligence was laughably inaccurate.

Thinking of Wei Potian, William’s anger flared. He leaped on him, stomping several times, leaving paw prints, venting his frustration. A member of the Summit, captured by Zhao Ruoxi, twice bullied by Qian Ye, and now, a mere Wei Potian feeding him bones?!

William, swearing under his breath, leaped onto the wall, ready to leave, when he heard a weak plea, “Lord William, save me!”

Turning, he saw the Spider Demon, immobilized in the corner.

The Spider Demon, still needing help, suddenly recalled William’s recent humiliation, and was shocked.

William, standing tall, transformed into human form, staring at the Spider Demon, said slowly, “I remember you. Last year, the Red Tail Tribe perished at your hands, didn’t it?”
