To prevent the fate of the Black Wolf being flirted to death before he even got close, Yao Zuizui came up with a way to warn him.
She asked foolishly, “My King, where does this chimney lead?”
“Of course, into Zhu Sansan’s house. Silly little pig,” the Black Wolf patted Yao Zuizui’s pig head.
He didn’t use much force, but Yao Zuizui still thought he was too rough.
Truly, a wolf patting a little pig—completely ungrateful for kindness!
But what could she do? Who made her, Yao Zuizui, so kind-hearted?
Suppressing her anger, Yao Zuizui continued, “My King, won’t you fall into a pot if you go in through the chimney?”
“Of course not, I’ve prepared for it! Silly little pig,” the Black Wolf patted her head again.
Yao Zuizui gritted her teeth, fuming, and stormed off to lie under a tree.
She really was foolish—worrying that a great demon king would fall for a trap.
He wasn’t the stupid wolf from fairy tales anymore; he was a cunning, evil demon king!
Yao Zuizui turned her head away, ignoring him.
The Black Wolf walked over and kept patting her head: “Good little pig, take a nice nap. I’ll be back when you wake up.”
“And I’ll bring you a little friend so you won’t be so bored alone at home.”
“My King, um… could you be gentler… it hurts…” Yao Zuizui looked up at the Black Wolf, her eyes misty again.
The Black Wolf had zero resistance to her gaze, and his movements instantly softened.
Making his wolf claws perform such delicate motions was both uncomfortable and ridiculous.
But to avoid damaging the tender pig skin and to preserve the taste, he endured the discomfort!
After petting the little pig for a while, the Black Wolf finally stood up and headed toward Zhu Sansan’s house.
Yao Zuizui lay bored under the tree, planning to take a nap.
But the moment she closed her eyes, rustling sounds came from beside her.
She opened her eyes and saw a group of small animals standing behind her.
There was a hen holding a spatula.
A rabbit clutching grass.
A squirrel carrying a nutshell.
A giraffe with branches on its back.
…
All the little animals held their own weapons, warily eyeing Zhu Sansan’s house as if facing a great enemy.
“You guys…” Yao Zuizui almost laughed but held it in.
It was her first time seeing so many small animals acting like humans—the fairy-tale world was truly fascinating.
“Zhu Yiyi, we’ve built an animal paradise in the eastern forest. All the little animals in the forest have gathered there! We even hired carpenters to build defenses, so we never have to worry about being caught or eaten again! Do you want to join us?” The squirrel looked at Yao Zuizui with pity, knowing this poor little pig had been captured by the wolf for a long time.
“…Sure!” Yao Zuizui agreed readily, grinning foolishly.
But in her mind, she was calculating—no wonder the Black Wolf had been going hungry lately.
The forest animals had banded together, built a base, and holed up inside. No wonder the Black Wolf couldn’t catch anything.
“So, why are you here today?” Yao Zuizui asked innocently.
“To rescue Zhu Sansan! She sent us a distress call,” the hen flapped her wings righteously.
“Since we saw you, we’ll rescue you too,” the monkey chimed in.
Yao Zuizui twitched her lips. “Well, thank you very much.”
Yao Zuizui followed the group to Zhu Sansan’s door.
The hen stepped forward and rang the doorbell.
But Zhu Sansan didn’t answer.
The animals exchanged glances—Zhu Sansan was in danger.
Just as they were about to climb the chimney, the door opened.
Yao Zuizui immediately saw the Black Wolf standing in the center of the room, holding an unconscious Zhu Sansan.
“Wolf King! Let Zhu Sansan go, and we’ll let you leave!” The giraffe forced out the words, but his voice was trembling.
“You? Let me leave?” The Black Wolf scoffed as if hearing the biggest joke.
He scanned the weak little animals, his eyes flashing with bloodlust.
Heh, time for a feast!
Wait—why was his little pig standing among them?
She must have been threatened or even taken hostage by these fools!
The Black Wolf glared fiercely. “You! Release my little pig!”
Yao Zuizui knew he meant her. Plus, she needed to go back with him to keep flirting!
And she wanted to test her current standing in his heart.
So she turned her back to the Black Wolf and frantically signaled the animals behind her: “Please let me go! My King will definitely trade me for Zhu Sansan!”
“My King, right?” Yao Zuizui looked at the Black Wolf with a pitiful expression.
The animals’ gazes turned admiring yet sympathetic—admiring her willingness to sacrifice herself for Zhu Sansan, pitying her life of trembling under the wolf’s claws.
The Black Wolf answered without hesitation: “Of course. I’ll trade Zhu Sansan for my little pig.”
The animals weren’t strong, but they weren’t stupid either.
They demanded the exchange happen at the animal paradise for safety.
The Black Wolf had no choice. In his mind, his hand-raised little pig was ten thousand times tastier than Zhu Sansan—even tastier than all these animals combined. Of course, he’d trade for her.
The animals formed a long procession and marched toward the animal paradise.
Yao Zuizui walked in the middle, with spatulas, branches, and carrots all pressed against her neck as a sign of respect for the hostage.
The Black Wolf was terrified the entire way, worried his little pig’s delicate neck would get scratched. Even a tiny cut would pain him for hours.
A scratch would mean bleeding.
Pig blood was delicious.
But scarred pork? Not so much.
So the Black Wolf grew even more determined to protect his little pig—not a single hair could be harmed.
At the gates of the animal paradise, Yao Zuizui realized how beautiful it was—no wonder the animals loved it.
Under the blue sky and white clouds, the atmosphere was peaceful and harmonious.
On the soft green grass, the pink animal paradise bustled with creatures living happily, each with their own role.
Even the air felt softer, filled with the sweet scent of fruit—clean, fresh, and impossibly lovely.
But the Black Wolf wrinkled his nose in disgust.
No meat smell at all—just fruits and vegetables. Disgusting.
These animals were all washed clean, sprayed with fragrant soap, masking their natural meaty scent. How annoying.
His little pig was much better—he loved her scent no matter what.
The Black Wolf disdainfully glanced at the unconscious Zhu Sansan and the animals filing into the paradise.
Only his little pig remained at the gate, her small frame standing straight, her big eyes innocent and lost, looking pitifully alone.
The Black Wolf’s heart clenched. He strode toward her.
“Release Zhu Sansan! Keep your word!” Empowered by the safety of the paradise, the animals spoke boldly.
The Black Wolf gave them a contemptuous look, scooped up his little pig, and tossed Zhu Sansan through the gates.
The animals quickly caught Zhu Sansan with a bedsheet to cushion her fall.
As for Yao Zuizui? She was already tucked into the Black Wolf’s arms as he hurried away.
The Black Wolf was furious.
How dare they threaten his little pig! He’d find a way to eat them all!
Yao Zuizui nestled in his arms, warm and safe, and soon fell asleep.
The Black Wolf looked down at her, baring his teeth unconsciously.
His little pig slept so soundly!
She looked absolutely delicious!
Back home, the starving Black Wolf had to settle for the little pig’s cooking again.
Her dishes were fragrant and beautifully presented—but utterly lacking in meat.
The little pig loved eating, but he’d rather eat her.
The Black Wolf’s life became a cycle: hunting empty-handed, coming home to lick his little pig a few times, then feeling utterly baffled by himself.
Yao Zuizui’s life became one of eating, sleeping, and using the Black Wolf as a pillow, gaining several pounds in the process.
By now, she and the Black Wolf were on excellent terms.
Though he acted annoyed, he treated her incredibly well—gentle, protective, terrified she’d get even a scratch.
If she wanted carrots, he’d trudge through thick snow to fetch them.
If she wanted apples, he’d brave the rain to steal them from the neighboring bear.
But the Black Wolf grew thinner, no longer the powerhouse who could take on multiple tigers.
Another month passed, and New Year arrived.
The forest was decked in lanterns and decorations, brimming with joy.
The Black Wolf’s home was no exception.
He hung two red lanterns and couplets at the door, with red paper and cloth everywhere inside—festive and bright.
What made the Black Wolf happiest? New Year meant meat!
After raising his little pig for so long, it was finally time to eat her!
He hadn’t had meat in so long he’d almost forgotten the taste.
Every time he saw his little pig wandering around, his mouth watered.
The restraint was torture.
New Year: eat the little pig, set off firecrackers, watch fireworks.
Celebrate surviving another year.
Wish for a year full of meat.
“Little pig, did you bathe today?” The Black Wolf figured he should be subtle—she was about to be eaten.
Yao Zuizui played dumb and nodded. “Yes! With the new soap you bought—it smells amazing!”
Then she shifted to human form and placed her delicate, boneless hand under his nose.
So white, so soft, so fragrant, so dazzling.
Her clear eyes stared at him innocently—so pure, so clueless about her impending fate.
The Black Wolf hardened his heart and turned away. “Turn back into a pig.”
Yao Zuizui nodded. “Okay!”
She obediently shifted back, sitting on the floor, staring at him adorably.
The Black Wolf praised, “My little pig is so good, so cute.” But inside, he felt a twinge of guilt.
“Of course! Sticky rice cakes are plump~ Marshmallows are soft~ I’m food too, so I have to be cute!” Yao Zuizui amped up the charm.
Seemed she had full awareness of being food!
The Black Wolf ignored his messy emotions, placed Yao Zuizui on a large plate, covered her with red cloth, and picked up his knife and fork.
Time to eat!
