Fiancée!
The three words uttered by Cang Yan struck Qing Mei’er’s mind like a thunderbolt!
Her eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Cang Yan, shaking her head numbly. “Brother Cang… Cang Yan, what… what did you just say?”
“Guards!” Cang Yan turned away, not even bothering to spare her another glance.
“At your command, Your Majesty.” A squad of guards appeared instantly at his call.
“Qing Mei’er has committed violence within the royal palace, daring to assault my fiancée. The punishment is death!” Cang Yan’s voice was laced with fury.
Qing Mei’er’s eyes widened further, her body swaying as if she might collapse at any moment.
A deafening buzz, like the sound of countless cicadas, filled her ears, threatening to split her skull. The incessant ringing fragmented her thoughts, making it impossible to think clearly. What had her beloved Brother Cang Yan just said? She had been willful many times before, yet he had always turned a blind eye, never punishing her! She had believed he cared for her, that was why he allowed her to deal with those troublesome women!
But today…
Brother Cang Yan wanted her dead? All for that woman of unknown origin? Just because she was more beautiful, she had bewitched him into siding with her, even at the cost of Qing Mei’er’s life?
“Brother… Cang Yan…” Tears welled up in Qing Mei’er’s eyes, spilling down her cheeks in large drops.
Cang Yan frowned at her, his azure eyes as cold as winter’s frozen lake, chilling to the bone. His voice was devoid of warmth as he spoke. “In consideration of Elder Qing Yuan’s loyalty to the Beast Clan, I will spare your life. However, you shall lose a thousand years of cultivation! From this day forth, you are confined to your quarters for reflection. Without summons, you are forbidden to set foot in the Beast Palace. Any defiance will be treated as treason! As for the two maids who accompanied you today—execute them on the spot!”
As soon as he finished speaking, Qing Mei’er collapsed to the ground, her earlier elegance with the peach blossom fan utterly shattered, leaving only desolation.
“Your Majesty, spare us!” The two maids who had followed Qing Mei’er turned pale with terror, their knees buckling as they kowtowed desperately for mercy.
With a flick of his hand, Cang Yan unleashed three spells simultaneously. The maids’ pleas were silenced in an instant. Before Qing Mei’er could react, excruciating pain surged through her, and she let out a scream before losing consciousness.
The guards stepped forward, carrying the unconscious Qing Mei’er away. The two maids struck by Cang Yan had already perished, their deaths so swift they hadn’t even made a sound.
The once-youthful maids gradually dissolved into wisps of green smoke, leaving behind two lifeless red foxes on the ground. The summoned guards expressionlessly picked up the foxes and left the pavilion.
Once the matter was settled, Cang Yan turned to Yun Qingxue, who stood beside the red-robed man. His cold demeanor softened slightly. “Qingxue, are you satisfied with my judgment?”
Yun Qingxue frowned. Though Cang Yan’s expression had eased, his azure eyes still burned with dangerous fury.
The Beast King was angry—but why? Unable to discern the reason, she decided not to dwell on it. A faint smile touched her lips. “Your Majesty’s judgment is fair.”
Cang Yan smiled faintly in return. “For you to face such danger within the Beast Palace is my oversight. I hope you won’t hold it against me.”
“It’s nothing.” Yun Qingxue gave a light smile before turning to the red-robed man beside her. “Thank you for your timely assistance, sir.”
The red-robed man glanced at her, his faint smile making the surrounding scenery pale in comparison. His voice was as melodious as a phoenix’s call—clear and resonant. “Flower King, there’s no need for such courtesy.”
“You know my identity?” Yun Qingxue regarded him with curiosity.
“Brother Feng,” Cang Yan called out in a low voice. The red-robed man turned his gaze toward him.
Cang Yan smirked, his pride evident as he straightened. “Thank you for aiding my fiancée earlier, Brother Feng. I owe you a favor.”
“Fiancée?” The red-robed man arched a brow. “Emperor Zi was unaware that the renowned Flower King had become betrothed to Brother Cang.”
Cang Yan chuckled, pulling Yun Qingxue’s hand into his grasp. “There are many things in this world unknown to Brother Feng. But since you’re here, why not stay for the wedding feast? I shall be marrying Qingxue soon.”
“In that case, Emperor Zi will impose on Brother Cang’s hospitality for a few more days.” Feng Zihuang nodded, his gaze briefly flickering to Yun Qingxue.
“After walking for so long, I’m tired. I shall retire now.” Yun Qingxue withdrew her hand from Cang Yan’s grip and spoke calmly.
“Attend to the Flower King well. Any further mistakes, and you shall answer with your lives!” Cang Yan coldly ordered Xiao Yao and Xiao Ling.
“Yes, Your Majesty!” The two maids hurriedly complied.
With a wave of his hand, Cang Yan dismissed them. Xiao Yao and Xiao Ling rose and escorted Yun Qingxue back to her quarters.
Once Yun Qingxue had disappeared from sight, Feng Zihuang and Cang Yan turned their gazes back to each other, their eyes filled with the arrogance and dominance of kings.
