Chapter 123: Intimidation

A-Dai twisted its body, its round little eyes looking up at the person holding it by the tail.

As a dignified and noble little venomous snake, being dangled by its tail like this was truly a blow to its pride and dignity!

It flicked its tongue, already warming up for a strike.

“A-Dai~” Jinlin’s voice was cool, carrying a hint of eerie menace.

All of A-Dai’s aggressive momentum dissipated instantly the moment it recognized who was holding it.

Oh no, it was Jinlin—the most powerful dragon in the aquatic realm…

“Hiss~” A-Dai flicked its tongue obsequiously, its little eyes darting around guiltily as it thought about how it had lost track of Yun Qingxue, not daring to meet Jinlin’s gaze.

“Having fun away from the aquatic realm?” Jinlin smiled, speaking as if they were old friends catching up.

A-Dai squirmed uncomfortably in Jinlin’s grip. Couldn’t he just put it down first before talking properly?!

“Hiss~” A-Dai’s round little eyes lit up with joy when it spotted Yun Qingxue standing not far away. Ever since it had been accidentally taken away by Hua Yin that day, it had been searching for Yun Qingxue, but despite its efforts, it hadn’t been able to find her.

These past days, A-Dai had already decided that if it couldn’t find Yun Qingxue, it would return to the aquatic realm. But before it could, Jinlin had summoned it. And right from the start, Jinlin had deliberately let it fall when it landed, then unceremoniously grabbed it by the tail…

Seriously, after such a long separation, couldn’t he be a little friendlier?

All of A-Dai’s silent complaints about Jinlin vanished the moment it saw Yun Qingxue!

Its contracted master was actually with Jinlin, the Dragon King of their aquatic realm!!! What a stroke of fate!!!

“Hiss~” Master, I missed you so much!

A-Dai excitedly flicked its tongue at Yun Qingxue, coiling its body before launching itself toward her.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Jinlin’s cold voice rang out above A-Dai. The force of its leap was completely negated as Jinlin yanked it backward.

“Hiss~” A-Dai looked up at Jinlin with a pitiful flick of its tongue. After so long apart, couldn’t you be nicer to me?

“Jinlin, don’t bully A-Dai.” Yun Qingxue’s joyful voice chimed like music.

A-Dai’s little round eyes immediately turned back to Yun Qingxue—its master was the best!

“Hiss~” It flicked its tongue at Jinlin again. Did you hear that? My master said not to bully me!

Jinlin smirked at A-Dai.

A-Dai immediately shrank back, suddenly sensing something ominous…

“Do you have any idea how much suffering Xuexue endured alone while you were gone?” Jinlin asked darkly.

“Hiss~” A-Dai flicked its tongue weakly. It hadn’t meant to…

“Jinlin, you’ll scare A-Dai.” Yun Qingxue laughed, speaking up for the little snake. No matter what, both she and A-Dai were still alive—that was all that mattered!!!

“Xuexue, I know you’re happy to see this troublemaker alive, but it abandoned you to go play around. Today, I *have* to teach it a lesson!” Jinlin dangled A-Dai by its tail, shaking it left and right.

“Jinlin, I’m just glad A-Dai is back. Can’t you let it go this time?” Yun Qingxue smiled, pleading for mercy on A-Dai’s behalf.

“Hiss~” A-Dai weakly flicked its tongue. Its master was truly the kindest! But it had failed to protect her—it really did deserve punishment.

Jinlin waved a hand dismissively. “Xuexue, don’t plead for it. Today, no matter what, I *will* teach it a lesson!”

Then, with a cold smile, he looked at A-Dai. “How should I punish you, hmm? Do you know how worried Xuexue was about you all this time? She even thought you were dead, living in guilt and sorrow every day. And you? Off having the time of your life, weren’t you?”

“Hiss~” A-Dai flicked its tongue weakly again.

Jinlin continued, “Xuexue has lost weight from worrying about you. Maybe she needs some nourishment!”

“Hiss~” Okay!

A-Dai flicked its tongue in agreement.

Jinlin’s sinister smile suddenly vanished. “How about some snake soup for nourishment?”

Sn-snake soup?!

A-Dai shuddered, only to realize it had suddenly been trapped in an enclosed space.

“Hiss~” A-Dai flailed desperately. Master, save me! I don’t want to be turned into soup!!!

Damn you, King Jinlin! Turning on your own kind—how ruthless can you be?!

“Jinlin, you’re scaring A-Dai!”

Watching as Jinlin magically placed A-Dai into a pot he had conjured out of nowhere, Yun Qingxue couldn’t help but laugh exasperatedly as she rushed forward to lift the lid.

“Hiss~” Seizing the opportunity, A-Dai leaped out, climbing up Yun Qingxue’s wrist before slithering onto her shoulder.

“Hiss~” It nuzzled her affectionately with its head.

“Xuexue, why are you helping this little troublemaker?! We should steam it and eat it—good for your health and saves you from future heartache!” Jinlin glared at A-Dai viciously.

“Jinlin!” Yun Qingxue chuckled helplessly, tapping A-Dai’s little head. “As long as A-Dai is back safe, that’s all that matters. Stop scaring it, okay?”

Jinlin snorted at A-Dai before muttering, “Xuexue, I’m only letting it go because of you!”

“Thank you.”

Yun Qingxue flashed Jinlin a sweet smile, radiant as the morning sun.
