“Changxing, take Sisi away. Make a cut on the index finger of the arm that was bitten, immerse her whole body in clean water, feed her ten Qi-Guiding Pills, and finally channel some spiritual energy through her unbitten hand to help her detoxify.” Purple Melody Sage instructed Mo Changxing with a few words.
Mo Changxing nodded and immediately ordered Yuejian to pick up Yun Sisi again. The three of them quickly left.
“Master!” Jinlin’s face had already turned quite unpleasant as he questioned Purple Melody Sage, “You just saw how vicious that woman is. If she lives, she’ll surely keep scheming to harm Xuexue! As Xuexue’s master, not only did you not help her seek justice, but you even helped Mo Changxing save Xuexue’s enemy!”
“Isn’t it perfect if she keeps trying to harm my disciple?” Purple Melody Sage raised an eyebrow with a smile. Under Jinlin’s puzzled gaze, he spoke unhurriedly, “Such a natural opponent to train my disciple—what a pity it would be if she died!”
Jinlin instantly understood but smirked mysteriously. “Is that really the only reason, Master?”
“Hahaha!” Purple Melody Sage laughed heartily. “Of course not! That girl Sisi is the daughter of an old friend of mine, and she shares a deep connection with Qingxue. So, she can’t die!”
Jinlin frowned. Earlier, when Mo Changxing insisted on saving her, he repeatedly emphasized that the ugly woman couldn’t die. Now, Purple Melody Sage was saying the same thing. What exactly was the connection here?
“Fine! Today, I’ll give Master some face!” Jinlin grinned. “I have no objections to keeping a practice ‘pet’ for Xuexue. But if that ugly woman dares to put Xuexue in danger, I swear in the name of the Water Clan’s king—I’ll kill her before her schemes succeed!”
Purple Melody Sage shook his head with a smile. Naturally, he was pleased that Mo Changxing and Jinlin cared for Yun Qingxue. But these two were far too protective! They always wanted to shield her under their wings. With such overprotective senior brothers watching over her, if Yun Qingxue grew dependent, she would never truly mature!
Purple Melody Sage had been entrusted by an old friend to guide Yun Qingxue. He absolutely couldn’t let her become lazy or lose her drive to improve!
“Jinlin!” Purple Melody Sage gazed at the distant, deep night sky and spoke across the distance, “Qingxue has her own path to walk. Whether it’s you or Changxing, you must learn to let go and allow her to grow on her own!”
Jinlin gave a noncommittal smile. He had no issue with Xuexue growing, but if she were in danger and he had to stand by idly—that, he couldn’t do!
“Hiss—” Adai, who had been held by Purple Melody Sage all this time, finally couldn’t take it anymore and flicked his tongue in displeasure.
I’ve been dangling here for so long—can you let me down already?!
Adai’s round little eyes glared resentfully at Purple Melody Sage.
Purple Melody Sage merely chuckled, as if just noticing the tiny venomous snake in his hand. Without a second thought, he flicked his wrist and tossed Adai away.
“Purple Melody Sage, you bastard!!!” Adai, caught off guard by the sudden throw, found his small body soaring uncontrollably through the air, unable to steer or land. He desperately tried to regain balance, hoping to avoid a humiliating crash, all while mentally cursing Purple Melody Sage a hundred times over.
“Let this little viper stay with you for now!”
Purple Melody Sage declared firmly. As he spoke, Jinlin reached out and caught Adai mid-air.
Morning arrived, sunlight piercing through the dawn clouds to bathe the earth. Birds sang, and a gentle breeze stirred.
Yun Qingxue, who had been unconscious, slowly furrowed her brows. Her lost awareness gradually returned, giving her the faint sensation that she was still alive.
“Daisy…” she called softly, but all she felt around her was a vast expanse of thick, white mist—so dense she couldn’t distinguish directions or landmarks.
Where is this? Yun Qingxue thought groggily, attempting to grope her way forward.
“Hehe…” A distant, aged chuckle echoed. Yun Qingxue halted her steps, her eyes blankly scanning the surroundings.
“Who are you?” she asked.
“Hehe!” The aged laughter sounded again. In her daze, Yun Qingxue seemed to hear an ethereal voice say, “Bearer of the Flower King’s Decree… boundless vitality… little girl, you hold the world’s lifeblood in your hands!”
“Who are you really?” Yun Qingxue frowned. As soon as she asked, the surrounding mist began rapidly dissipating, replaced by a clear voice calling in her ear.
“Disciple Qingxue!”
“Disciple Qingxue!”
…
With each call, the mist completely vanished. A blinding light pierced through, and Yun Qingxue instinctively raised a hand to shield her eyes.
Once her vision adjusted, she squinted and looked around.
Above her was a lush tree canopy, its emerald leaves swaying in the morning breeze. Sunlight filtered through the gaps, casting dappled patterns on her body. She distinctly remembered collapsing onto her bed before losing consciousness—so how had she ended up here? The misty realm, now replaced by this tree—was she still dreaming?
“Awake?”
A clear voice suddenly rang out.
Yun Qingxue turned toward the sound and saw Purple Melody Sage sitting leisurely on a large rock nearby, smiling at her with amusement.
“Master?” Yun Qingxue called uncertainly, still half-convinced she was dreaming.
“Hmm.” Purple Melody Sage stood from the rock and strolled toward her. Though his expression carried its usual smile, his eyes held an unfathomable depth.
“Curious about how you got here?” Purple Melody Sage asked as he approached.
Yun Qingxue nodded honestly, voicing her thoughts without hesitation. “Master, I’m dreaming, right? You’re just a figment of my dream, aren’t you?”
Purple Melody Sage nearly laughed at his disciple’s rare display of naivety. Looking at her, he denied it. “You’re not dreaming, and I’m not a figment of your dream.”
Not dreaming? Yun Qingxue pinched herself stealthily, wincing at the pain. Only then did she realize this was indeed reality.
“Did you bring me here, Master?” she asked.
Purple Melody Sage nodded. “Yesterday, I watched your battle with Yun Sisi from start to finish. You performed well, disciple. So… I’ve decided to send you to the Mirage of Yunhuang for training. Are you willing?”
“Mirage of Yunhuang?” Yun Qingxue repeated the name with a frown, then asked in confusion, “What kind of place is that?”
“A realm where reality and illusion overlap—a place of both danger and opportunity,” Purple Melody Sage explained.
