Chapter 270: Negotiation

The white light was overwhelmingly intense, enveloping everything around.

“Damn it!” Yun Qingxue cursed under her breath. At this critical moment when A’Dai’s life hung in the balance, her body was once again wracked with excruciating pain that seemed to seep from her very bones!

Gritting her teeth, she fought through the agony, desperate to save A’Dai. But the blinding white light obscured everything, making it impossible to see.

“A’Dai! Daise! Liuli!” Yun Qingxue called out frantically amid the radiance.

“Master!” The voices of Daise and Liuli responded, but there was no reply from A’Dai.

Yun Qingxue’s heart sank like a stone.

Fortunately, the piercing white light soon faded.

The moment it vanished, Yun Qingxue immediately searched for A’Dai, only to see him still clutched in the talons of the largest bat.

The bat’s other claw, which had been poised to pierce A’Dai’s body, had failed to deliver the fatal blow.

Its strike had gone awry—likely due to the blinding white light.

The other bats also seemed affected, their coordinated flight and attacks now in disarray.

After the light dissipated, they were too disoriented to continue their assault, flapping chaotically in the air and even colliding with one another.

“My eyes! I can’t see anything…!”

“What’s happening?!”

Yun Qingxue heard the panicked cries of the bats. Seizing the opportunity, she leaped into the air, hoping to rescue A’Dai.

“Take one more step, and I’ll kill it!”

Despite its blindness, the giant bat demon sensed Yun Qingxue’s intent and pressed a claw against A’Dai’s vital spot.

Yun Qingxue froze instantly.

“Stinking bat! You’re poisoned by me! Kill me, and no one can cure you! You’ll die with me!” A’Dai retorted fearlessly, turning the threat back on the bat demon.

From his voice, Yun Qingxue could tell he was in bad shape.

The bat demon’s claw hesitated, and Yun Qingxue exhaled slightly in relief.

A’Dai had stood by her through countless trials, risking his life to protect her time and again. She couldn’t bear to see him harmed now!

Her eyes remained fixed on the bat demon and A’Dai.

Since the bat demon’s vision had been impaired by the inexplicable white light from her body…

Could she sneak closer and rescue A’Dai?

“Don’t move a muscle! Or I’ll slit this little snake’s throat!”

The moment Yun Qingxue shifted, the bat demon pressed its sharp claw against A’Dai’s vital spot.

Damn it! Even blind, it’s still this sharp!

Yun Qingxue cursed inwardly.

The bat demon had clearly sensed her plan. With A’Dai still in its grasp, she dared not act recklessly.

“Stop panicking, you useless lot!”

The giant bat demon roared at its kin, who were similarly blinded and flailing in the air.

Its furious voice seemed to steady the chaotic bats. Though still sightless, they quickly regained composure.

“Surrender now, or I’ll gut this little viper!”

Having calmed its kin, the elder bat demon dangled A’Dai as a threat.

“Pah! Ugly freak! Coward! Kill me if you dare! Your A’Dai grandpa isn’t afraid of you!”

Before Yun Qingxue could respond, A’Dai spat back defiantly.

“Pfft!” The bat demon’s claw flicked lightly, its razor-sharp talon slicing effortlessly through A’Dai’s flesh.

“Master! Don’t agree! These freaks are blind now—strike while you can! Forget about me!” A’Dai shouted.

The bat demon’s claw dug deeper into his flesh.

A dull pain spread through his body, but A’Dai stifled any cry, urging instead, “Master, attack! Slaughter these bastards!”

The giant bat’s claw inched slowly, relentlessly deeper.

“Stop!” Yun Qingxue bellowed.

“Master! Don’t agree to anything!” A’Dai yelled, writhing violently in the bat’s grip.

The bat’s claw, already embedded in his flesh, tore a chunk of skin loose as he struggled.

Yun Qingxue’s heart clenched. She yearned to charge forward, rescue A’Dai, and snap the bat’s claws—but she could do nothing.

She glanced back at Liuli and Daise.

She wanted to save A’Dai, but she couldn’t drag them down with her.

Especially Liuli—its entire clan had sacrificed their lives, even guarding it as spirits after death, all to ensure its survival.

“Master! We stand with you!” Daise and Liuli stepped forward, flanking Yun Qingxue.

“Leave. Find a chance to come back for us. If we’re all captured, it’s over!”

“Master, I won’t go!”

“Neither will I!”

Daise and Liuli spoke in unison, resolute.

“Master! Don’t agree to anything, or I’d rather die now!”

A’Dai’s desperate shout echoed toward Yun Qingxue.

“Master, take Daise and Liuli and go! Leave me!”

“Silence!” Yun Qingxue snapped, her icy gaze locking onto the bat demon holding A’Dai.

“You’re poisoned by A’Dai. Without his antidote, you’ll die.

How about we make a deal?”

“Little girl, don’t try any tricks!” the bat demon snarled.

Yun Qingxue scoffed. “We’re at a stalemate. Let’s both step back—”

“You think you can threaten me with the antidote and beg for mercy? No chance! You killed my great-grandson—today, blood will repay blood!”

The bat demon cut her off with a venomous growl.

“Hmph! Who’s begging?”

Yun Qingxue glared coldly. The sight of A’Dai suffering under its claws made her itch to tear the old bat apart—but she was powerless while A’Dai remained captive.

The slightest misstep could cost A’Dai his life.

“I killed your great-grandson. A’Dai poisoned you. We’ll surrender—but you must let our other two companions go!”

The elder bat demon sneered. “You’re in no position to bargain!”

“The poison is our leverage!” Yun Qingxue shot back. “You may not realize it, but that ‘little snake’ you’re holding is the Sacred Serpent of the Water Clan.

Given your age, you must have heard of it, haven’t you?”
