Chapter 310: An Unexpected Visitor at Luoyun Mountain

“I’m also an orphan! I’m pitiful too! Can I entrust myself to you?” Huanling put on a pitiful expression as she looked at Yun Qingxue.

“My true form originates from the spiritual energy of the illusionary realm. My existence transcends the Five Elements and lies beyond the Three Realms.

Because of this, I can never achieve enlightenment and can only wander aimlessly like a lonely ghost, year after year, day after day.

I’ve lived this drifting life for thousands of years, and I’m tired!

I want a stable life, a hope—a hope to escape the fate of a wandering spirit!

And I’ve known since the moment I was born that the only one who can give me this is the first person to call out my name!

And that person is you! Please, won’t you take me in…?”

“But if you follow me, you’ll have to face all my troubles with me…”

“I’m willing, I’m willing! I’ll do anything as long as you take me in!” Seeing that Yun Qingxue seemed to be softening, Huanling eagerly cut her off before she could finish, declaring her stance.

Her overly eager attitude left Yun Qingxue both amused and exasperated.

Meanwhile, in the Xuanling Continent.

The first thing Purple Song Sage did upon returning with Mo Changxing and Jin Lin was to search everywhere for Yun Qingxue.

On the very day they arrived back in the Xuanling Continent, Jin Lin returned to the aquatic clan and issued a decree for the entire clan to assist in the search.

Mo Changxing, however, dared not openly mobilize the entire demon clan to look for her, as revealing Yun Qingxue’s connection to the demon race would bring her immense danger and calamity.

So, though he was deeply anxious about Yun Qingxue’s disappearance, he couldn’t openly command the entire clan like Jin Lin. Instead, he could only send trusted subordinates to search discreetly.

Purple Song Sage and Yun Ye also split up to quietly search for any trace of Yun Qingxue.

Ten days passed, and there was still no news of Yun Qingxue. Everyone’s hearts grew increasingly restless.

Just then, an unexpected guest arrived at Luoyun Mountain.

She was a stunning and dignified woman. Her jet-black hair was tied in an elegant updo, and she wore a long violet-red embroidered dress. Her slightly upturned phoenix eyes held an endless charm without appearing seductive.

Her skin was as fair as fine mutton-fat jade, and every movement carried an air of grace and refinement.

When the woman saw Purple Song Sage, she merely smiled faintly and nodded. “Sage, it’s been many years, yet you remain as distinguished as ever.”

Purple Song Sage, however, looked at her in disbelief, exclaiming in surprise, “Clan Leader Mo Su?”

“It’s me.” Mo Su smiled faintly. “Are you surprised to see me?”

“Just a little unexpected.” Purple Song Sage chuckled and invited Mo Su into Luoyun Mountain. When Daise entered to serve tea, she couldn’t help but startle at the sight of Mo Su.

The radiant beauty before her bore the exact same face as the one Huanling had conjured in the Yunhuang Illusion!

“Sage, considering our long acquaintance, I prefer to speak frankly.

My visit today is to ask you a few things.” Mo Su looked directly at Purple Song Sage as she spoke.

“Please go ahead, Clan Leader Mo Su.” Purple Song Sage smiled politely, though he already had a rough idea of what she wanted to ask.

“Where is Her Majesty the Flower King?” Mo Su stared at him intently, as if unwilling to miss even the slightest change in his expression.

“This…” Purple Song Sage hesitated, his mind racing for a suitable response.

“Has something happened to Her Majesty?”

Seeing his reaction, Mo Su immediately stood up, unable to contain herself. Her beautiful face darkened with fury.

Purple Song Sage sighed inwardly. He hadn’t expected Mo Su, the leader of the peony clan, to appear now of all times—and her first demand was to know the Flower King’s whereabouts!

“Well, there’s been a minor mishap,” Purple Song Sage said with an awkward smile.

Mo Su’s expression grew even colder. A mocking smile curled at her lips as she demanded, “Oh? A minor mishap?

Then, Sage, do enlighten me—what exactly is this ‘minor mishap’ that has befallen our Flower King?”

Purple Song Sage could clearly sense the fury emanating from Mo Su. But at this point, he knew there was no hiding the truth any longer.

He had no choice but to admit, “Qingxue is missing!”

*Crack!*

The moment the words left his lips, the stone table beside him shattered into pieces.

Mo Su stood there, her eyes as cold as a poisoned blade. She spoke icily, “So this is what the Sage calls a ‘minor mishap’? The disappearance of the Flower King is a minor matter? Then tell me—what would you consider a major mishap? Only her death?”

“Clan Leader Mo Su, please calm down.” Purple Song Sage rose as well. “This was my oversight. I only intended to send Qingxue to the Yunhuang Illusion for training and to avoid detection by Fantian.

But then…

Ah!”

He let out a long sigh before continuing, “That girl Yun Sisi, the one Yun Ye adopted as a decoy all those years ago, had a rather unpleasant first encounter with Qingxue.

And as you know, that girl was raised to deceive Fantian.

This time, Fantian set his sights on my Luoyun Mountain. And coincidentally, that girl sneaked out of the demon clan and came here.

I sent Qingxue to the Yunhuang Illusion before Fantian arrived.

Fearing that Fantian might take Yun Sisi—who was posing as the demon clan’s princess in Qingxue’s stead—and expose her as a fake, I sent her along with my other two disciples into the Yunhuang Illusion as well.

For months, they coexisted peacefully.

But just as I was about to bring them back, something went wrong!

Yun Sisi encountered Qingxue in the Yunhuang Illusion and schemed to push her into the Endless Abyss!

The Endless Abyss has no bottom, but it connects to various parts of the Xuanling Continent. So all this time, we’ve been searching for where Qingxue might have landed!”

“Any leads?” Mo Su asked, her expression grim.

“None yet.” Purple Song Sage shook his head. “We’ve done everything we can, searching every clan, but there’s been no trace of her.”

“Hmph!” Mo Su flicked her sleeve, her eyes flashing with murderous intent. “And what of that impostor?”

Purple Song Sage immediately understood whom she meant and quickly replied, “She’s been imprisoned.”

“Imprisoned?” Mo Su’s voice rose in displeasure. “A disobedient pawn should be eliminated at once! Purple Song Sage, if I’m not mistaken, it was you and Yun Ye who orchestrated the overnight relocation of my peony clan from the Xuanling Continent, wasn’t it?”

“It was.” Purple Song Sage admitted without hesitation.

“You were the Flower King’s most loyal kin, which made you the first targets during the internal strife.

Yun Ye and I wanted to preserve Qingxue’s forces, but we couldn’t openly intervene. So we had to act in secret, sending you away to recover elsewhere.”
