Chapter 328: A Girl’s Thoughtfulness

The Purple Song Sage had never imagined that after being away for just two days, he would receive such an overwhelmingly warm welcome upon setting foot on the land of Luoyun Mountain again.

And those who welcomed him so enthusiastically were, without a doubt, the new disciples he had taken in during his absence.

Yet, though their enthusiasm was undeniable, why did each of them seem to gaze at him with eyes that faintly gleamed?

Could it be the light of admiration? It seemed his reputation in the Xuanling Continent remained as lofty as ever!

At this thought, the Purple Song Sage couldn’t help but feel a little smug. Facing these new disciples, a faint smile naturally surfaced on his face.

The many newly arrived little demons of Luoyun Mountain immediately caught the subtle smile on the Purple Song Sage’s face, instantly sensing that this revered master was kind and approachable.

And such a kind and approachable master surely wouldn’t be too harsh on them during sparring sessions!

With this in mind, the gleam in their eyes grew even brighter. Each of them rubbed their hands in anticipation, eager to spar with the Purple Song Sage and receive his guidance.

“The senior brothers are here!”

Someone in the crowd shouted, and the little demons surrounding the Purple Song Sage quickly parted to make way for Jin Lin and Mo Changxing.

Seeing his two senior disciples hurrying over, the Purple Song Sage smiled in satisfaction. These two had rushed to greet him upon his return—such commendable behavior!

“Master! Did you bring back the medicine for Qingxue?” Mo Changxing strode straight up to the Purple Song Sage and bluntly asked the question that concerned him most.

“Yes, Master, did you find the medicine to heal Xuexue?” Jin Lin chimed in.

The Purple Song Sage’s smile froze instantly. He should have known these two disciples had no conscience! He could understand their concern for their junior sister, Yun Qingxue—after all, he himself doted on her even more than they did.

But…

Their master had been traveling for two days and had just returned from afar. He wouldn’t blame them for asking about the medicine, but couldn’t they at least say something warm to him first?

“I found it,” the Purple Song Sage replied.

Fine, he knew exactly what his disciples were like. Now that he’d given them the answer they wanted, surely they’d at least say something like “Master, you’ve worked hard” to warm his heart!

“Where is it?”

Mo Changxing and Jin Lin extended their hands toward him in perfect unison.

The Purple Song Sage: “…”

These two disciples were definitely not the warm-hearted type!

“Step aside! We’ll deal with everything else later!” Mo Changxing barked at the little demons crowding around the Purple Song Sage. He grabbed one of his master’s arms, while Jin Lin, with seamless coordination, took the other.

Together, they hauled the Purple Song Sage straight toward Yun Qingxue’s residence.

Since the medicine to heal Qingxue had been obtained, there was no time to waste—attending to her was the top priority!

“I can walk on my own!” The Purple Song Sage shook off Jin Lin and Mo Changxing in annoyance and flew toward Yun Qingxue’s dwelling on a gust of wind.

These two disciples, valuing beauty over their master—how infuriating!

His heart felt as cold as ice.

Meanwhile…

Upon hearing that her master had returned, Yun Qingxue immediately set out to meet him. Halfway there, she encountered the Purple Song Sage and the others, who were already on their way to find her.

“Master.” Seeing him, Yun Qingxue bowed gracefully.

The Purple Song Sage nodded and, without a word, handed her a small porcelain vial.

“Master sought out an old friend and explained your condition to her. She instructed me to give you this vial of medicinal pills. After taking them, you’ll recover fully.”

Yun Qingxue accepted it with both hands and bowed again with a smile. “Thank you, Master. You’ve gone to such trouble for this disciple.”

“It’s nothing.” The Purple Song Sage waved his hand, then, recalling the treatment he’d received from Mo Changxing and Jin Lin, stole a glance at Yun Qingxue and added melodramatically, “Master has indeed been rather exhausted from the journey these past two days…”

“If you’re tired, go rest!” Mo Changxing cut him off coldly before he could finish. “Master is a grown man—surely you’re not like a child, whining for sweets just because you’ve endured a little hardship!”

The Purple Song Sage: “…”

Mo Changxing, you little brat!

“Xuexue, aren’t you feeling unwell? Hurry back and take the medicine,” Jin Lin said, as if the Purple Song Sage were completely invisible.

The Purple Song Sage looked utterly defeated.

Where was the respect for one’s master? These two brats weren’t just lacking warmth—they were downright frosty!

Now he felt like the north wind was howling, snowflakes were drifting, and his heart was freezing over!

“Master, you’ve worked hard.” Yun Qingxue tucked the vial away and gazed at him gratefully. “If you’re tired, why not come to my place? This disciple will brew you some tea to help you relax.”

“Excellent!” The Purple Song Sage’s expression brightened instantly.

They say daughters are like warm little quilts—how true that was!

His heart, frozen by those two brats, was beginning to thaw.

“No!”

“No!”

Mo Changxing and Jin Lin objected simultaneously.

The Purple Song Sage: “…”

These two brats… How he wished he could expel them from the sect!

“Senior Brother, Jin Lin, why don’t you join us for tea as well?” Yun Qingxue invited with a smile, linking her arm with the Purple Song Sage’s.

“Master has traveled so far for my sake. You’ve truly worked hard.”

Her words instantly soothed the Purple Song Sage’s heart beyond measure.

“That’s his duty!” Jin Lin muttered.

The Purple Song Sage raised an eyebrow and glared at him.

Brat! If he’d known this disciple would be so unfilial, he wouldn’t have taken him in at all!

Amid laughter and banter, the master and disciples made their way to Yun Qingxue’s residence.

Yun Qingxue personally brewed tea for the three of them. While they drank and bickered, she slipped out to gather ingredients like flour and eggs, intending to prepare some pastries as a gesture of gratitude for her master and her two doting senior brothers.

In her past life, Yun Qingxue had been an orphan. She didn’t know her exact birthdate and had never celebrated a birthday.

Later, she met Zhou Dao. His parents had died in a car accident, and though he knew his birthday, the orphanage had too many children—birthdays were marked only with longevity noodles, while birthday cakes remained a luxurious fantasy.

After leaving the orphanage, she and Zhou Dao rented a small one-bedroom apartment. She took the bedroom, while he slept on a bed in the living room.

Every year on Zhou Dao’s birthday, Yun Qingxue would personally bake him a cake—store-bought ones were too expensive!

She remembered how, in her determination to make him a beautiful cake, she had eaten failed attempts as meals for two whole weeks.

Looking back now, she could only laugh at her own foolishness—wasting so much effort on a scoundrel like him!
