Chapter 329: A Dispute Between Master and Disciple

Thinking of her past life and Zhou Dao, Yun Qingxue couldn’t help but smile bitterly.

But she quickly pulled herself together.

At least there was one thing she had to thank Zhou Dao for. If she hadn’t practiced making cakes for his birthday back then, how could she have made one today for the people who truly loved her?

She was still lucky, wasn’t she? Even though she had been deceived by a scumbag in her past life, fate had brought her to the Xuanling Continent, where she met so many people who cared for her and gave her the love she had missed in her previous life.

A happy smile spread across Yun Qingxue’s face.

Thanks to her magical abilities, making a cake without modern baking equipment wasn’t difficult for her.

She enlisted Daisy’s help and quickly gathered the necessary ingredients. After refining them, she made plant-based cream, blueberry jam, strawberry jam, orange jam, and some apple jam.

Next, she mixed flour, eggs, and sugar in the right proportions and poured the batter into a prepared round container.

Mimicking a modern oven, she conjured one up and used her magic to control the temperature. Soon, a soft and fluffy cake base was ready.

The moment the plain but fragrant cake was taken out, the sweet aroma made Liuli, Daisy, and A’Dai take deep breaths.

“Master, what kind of pastry is this? It smells amazing!” Liuli looked like a greedy cat.

“It’s called a cake, but it’s not finished yet,” Yun Qingxue replied with a smile. She let the cake cool slightly before starting the decoration.

She sliced the cake horizontally, spread a layer of cream in the middle, and added some fruit pieces. Then, she evenly coated the surface with the remaining cream.

She divided the cake into sections and spread the different jams on top. Finally, she piped cream flowers and arranged strawberries, blueberries, grapes, and other fruits in a decorative pattern.

Once the cake was done, she conjured a thin thread and cut it into a dozen even triangular slices.

Liuli couldn’t resist licking her lips at the sight of the delicious-looking dessert.

Yun Qingxue smiled and gave a slice each to Liuli, A’Dai, and Daisy for their help. Then, she took three more slices to the living room.

At that moment, the Purple Melody Sage was sitting in the main seat, sipping tea while exchanging glares with his two disciples.

The three of them occasionally exchanged sharp words.

Yun Qingxue entered and first placed a blueberry cake slice in front of the Purple Melody Sage before giving the other two to Jin Lin and Mo Changxing.

“Xuexue, what’s this?” Mo Changxing asked curiously, eyeing the triangular cake.

“It’s called a cake, a type of pastry. I made it myself—try it,” Yun Qingxue replied with a smile, though she felt slightly nervous, wondering if her skills would please her master and senior brothers.

Jin Lin, however, was already grinning, gazing at the cake as if it were a lover.

This was a pastry Xuexue had made just for him!

Look at it! The craftsmanship was simply exquisite. It was so beautiful he almost couldn’t bear to eat it!

He took a deep breath.

Ah… the sweet aroma was heavenly, something rarely encountered in the mortal world!

Such a beautiful pastry must taste even better.

But this was the first time Xuexue had made something for him—how could he bear to eat it? Should he cast a spell to freeze this gorgeous cake and preserve it forever?

Jin Lin hesitated, staring at the cake. But just then, the cake suddenly levitated off the table. A large, crimson mouth took a bite out of it.

Jin Lin was devastated.

That was the cake Xuexue had made for him! The one he couldn’t bring himself to eat!

“Master!” He stood up, glaring furiously at the thief who had stolen his cake.

The Purple Melody Sage showed no remorse, holding the cake in one hand. “You hesitated for so long—I figured you don’t like sweets, right? No problem! Your master loves them, so I’ll take it! ^_^”

“Who said I don’t like sweets?!” Jin Lin roared, lunging to snatch back his stolen cake.

Wuwu~ The cake he couldn’t bear to eat had already been bitten into—how heartbreaking!

The Purple Melody Sage deftly dodged Jin Lin’s grab, adopting a righteous tone. “If you don’t like it, just say so. Your junior sister won’t blame you. Besides, your master loves it!

Don’t worry!

With me here, your junior sister’s kind gesture won’t go to waste!”

“Since when did I say I didn’t like it?!” Jin Lin fumed, still trying to reclaim his cake.

But the Purple Melody Sage’s cultivation was higher than his.

Helpless, Jin Lin could only watch as his master dodged his attempts while occasionally taking bites of what was once his cake.

The cake was visibly shrinking.

“I’ll fight you for it!” Jin Lin waved his hand, sending streaks of icy blue energy toward the Purple Melody Sage.

The Sage sidestepped gracefully, and the energy struck the nearby wall, instantly freezing it.

Having dodged the attack, the Sage lowered his head to take another bite—only for the cake to suddenly slip from his grasp, pulled by an unseen force straight into Mo Changxing’s hand.

Instantly, both the Sage and Jin Lin turned their gazes to Mo Changxing.

Mo Changxing turned his back to them, lowering his head.

“Give it back!” Jin Lin demanded angrily.

At his words, Mo Changxing turned around obediently. His lips moved elegantly as he chewed, a tiny bit of cream lingering at the corner of his mouth.

That bit of cream added a touch of charm to his already strikingly handsome face.

But no matter how good-looking Mo Changxing was, neither Jin Lin nor the Purple Melody Sage cared—they only cared about the cake he had taken.

In unison, they looked at Mo Changxing’s hands—one empty, both empty…

Though he already had a bad feeling, Jin Lin clung to a sliver of hope. “Senior Brother, where’s my cake?”

Mo Changxing gave him a charming smile but remained silent, his lips still moving as he chewed.

“You ate it?!” Jin Lin’s eyes shot daggers.

Mo Changxing maintained his enigmatic smile.

“I’ll fight you!” Jin Lin snapped, lunging at Mo Changxing.

Damn it! He devoured such a big cake in the blink of an eye—why didn’t he choke on it?!

Mo Changxing’s smile didn’t waver. With a casual flick of his finger, a sudden thunderclap echoed across the clear sky.
