Luo Feng gazed in astonishment at the towering pyramids. Though their surfaces were decayed, their structures remained largely intact.
There were nine pyramids in total, seemingly placed without any pattern. Yet, these nine pyramids were constructed as if they were a single entity! Intangibly, they appeared to form an immense, invisible pyramid of colossal scale!
“Pyramids… beneath them is…” Luo Feng gasped in shock. “A city? A city!”
Underneath the towering nine pyramids lay a city whose outline was barely visible. Faint traces of its roads and building foundations could still be discerned. Clearly, this place had been in ruins for countless years.
Whoosh!
Luo Feng flew forward and swiftly descended, landing on the Martian surface covered in sand and gravel.
“There hasn’t been anyone here for a very long time,” Luo Feng murmured, staring at a broken section of wall, increasingly shocked and puzzled. “Babata, what’s going on?”
“What are you so surprised about?” Babata replied. “It’s perfectly normal.”
“Normal?”
“Of course, it’s normal. Before this star region was ruled by the Master, it belonged to the territory of the Silver Blue Empire.” Babata explained. “Earth was one of only two life-bearing planets within a thousand light-years of this area!”
“Another life planet?” Luo Feng asked curiously.
“The other life planet is nearly a hundred light-years away. Even at light speed, it would take nearly a century to reach,” Babata said. “Unless one could achieve faster-than-light travel through space rifts, one could arrive quickly.”
Luo Feng nodded slightly.
“Earth, as a life planet and a lower-tier civilization planet of the Silver Blue Empire, naturally had many humans living on it,” Babata continued. “Originally, it was used as a pastoral planet, mainly for breeding powerful beasts, which were then tamed and sold for profit. The population was estimated to be in the millions, all serving the pastoral industry.”
Luo Feng understood.
Life planets were categorized into various types: densely populated planets, tourist planets, pastoral planets, forestry planets, agricultural planets, industrial planets, and so on. For example, some factions in the universe would establish massive factories directly on certain planets.
“Earth’s pastures housed many valuable beasts, making it an important asset to the Silver Blue Empire,” Babata said. “Therefore, a space fleet was specifically stationed here.”
“Of course, interstellar transport ships were also used to carry large mining equipment and miners to nearby mineral-rich planets around the life planets for resource extraction.”
Babata continued, “Back then, many miners were mining on Mars and built a mining base here.”
“Later, the space fleet was annihilated in one move by the Master.”
“Without transport ships, the miners on Mars had no supplies. Even with life-support rations, they couldn’t last long. So they all perished,” Babata said.
Luo Feng was stunned.
So this was a miners’ base?
“These pyramids are energy towers,” Babata explained. “This kind of energy tower mimics the basic methods used by the Machine Race to generate energy. It’s highly cost-effective. In terms of ‘pyramid’ utilization, the human race still lags behind the Machine Race.”
“The Machine Race is extremely advanced in technology,” Babata couldn’t help but add. “The human race can’t compare. For example, humans can only become ‘Immortals’ through evolution, while the Machine Race, although not possessing souls, are essentially intelligent life forms capable of achieving Immortal-level combat power.”
Luo Feng was secretly shocked.
Intelligent life, although possessing human-like emotions and cognition, was still artificial intelligence rather than a true soul. Babata was an example of this!
A race of soulless machines producing Immortal-level warriors.
Their technological prowess was indeed formidable.
…
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Strong winds howled, kicking up clouds of sand and gravel.
Luo Feng stood on the ground.
“Babata, scan for mineral deposits,” Luo Feng instructed.
“Activating mineral deposit scanning.”
The Black Dragon spaceship, floating mid-air, immediately activated its mineral scanning ability. Within moments—
“Luo Feng, Mars has extremely rich deposits of Xuanti (Black Iron),” Babata reported.
“Xuanti?”
“Yes, translated into Chinese, it’s called Xuanti,” Babata explained. “Xuanti is an A8-grade metal with excellent durability. It’s highly sought after throughout the galaxy.”
“No B-grade metals?” Luo Feng frowned.
At his current stage as a Stellar-Level Golden-Horned Beast, he could efficiently absorb B-grade pure metals.
“No!” Babata replied excitedly. “But the Xuanti deposits are extremely large! Therefore, there must be a significant amount of ‘Xuanti Essence’ within.”
Luo Feng’s heart stirred.
Xuanti was an A8-grade metal, so Xuanti Essence would be B8-grade, and the extremely rare Xuanti Mother would be C8-grade!
For example, the Yimo Star spaceship’s hull was almost entirely made of ‘Red Chaos Copper Mother.’ Red Chaos Copper itself was a D9-grade metal, Red Chaos Copper Essence was E9-grade, and Red Chaos Copper Mother was F9-grade!
In a large Xuanti mine, Xuanti Essence might only account for about one ten-thousandth of the total Xuanti. Xuanti Mother might only be one ten-thousandth of the Xuanti Essence.
Such a ratio was truly staggering!
Red Chaos Copper was already extremely valuable. A spaceship constructed entirely of Red Chaos Copper Mother was priceless. Even a fragment of Red Chaos Copper Mother would drive Domain Lords mad with desire. Unfortunately, the Yimo Star spaceship needed repairs, but even in the vast territory of the Black Dragon Mountain Empire, no place could be found to perform the repairs.
“Luo Feng, these nine energy towers have a shielding effect that blocks scanning. Within their coverage area, scanning is impossible.”
“But beneath the energy towers, there is an underground steel city. I can barely detect a tiny portion of it,” Babata said.
“An underground steel city?”
Luo Feng was startled.
“But I scanned a few hundred meters and found no life. Come on, head to the surface cave twelve kilometers to the left. That’s the entrance to the underground steel city.”
…
On the Martian surface, there was a massive cave seemingly formed by natural collapse, with a diameter of hundreds of meters.
Whoosh!
Luo Feng dove straight into the cave, descending deeper underground.
“An underground steel city?”
Luo Feng expanded his mental power. As a Planet-Level Sixth-Stage Mentalist, his mental power could cover a radius of over 6,000 meters.
“Hmm?”
Luo Feng landed on the ground. Before him was dirt and dust, but beneath the cave’s collapsed soil, he faintly saw black metal. With his mental power, Luo Feng had already detected—behind it was a massive city gate.
“Unit 1, push it open,” Luo Feng mentally commanded, while he himself immediately floated upward, keeping a safe distance.
A black metal robot materialized out of nowhere.
In terms of raw strength, Luo Feng was no match for this black metal robot.
“Boom! Boom!” The robot’s powerful hands pushed against the massive iron gate. As it exerted force, the gate slowly creaked open, with dirt and dust pouring down.
“Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!”
Bright white beams of light suddenly shot out, almost covering the entire gate area. Seven or eight intense laser beams struck the metal robot, slamming it against the cave wall and causing a massive collapse of dust and debris. Luo Feng, however, had already moved far away to a safe distance above.
“What the hell? Is this steel city still operational?” Luo Feng was shocked. “I scanned with my mental power. There’s no one inside. It’s completely covered in dust.”
“The nine energy towers are still functioning normally, keeping the steel city operational. Although all the people are dead, the city’s functions haven’t ceased,” Babata explained. “Luo Feng, go inside. This hastily constructed steel city doesn’t have strong defenses. Besides, now the Muyun Vine has reached Planet-Level Ninth-Stage and is about to ascend to Stellar-Level.”
During Luo Feng’s battle with the Golden-Horned Beast, the Muyun Vine was at Planet-Level Seventh-Stage.
Over the past year since Luo Feng had been cultivating his body, the Muyun Vine had been growing underwater, frequently fed “Wood Yaa Crystals” by Babata. In less than a year, it had grown to Planet-Level Ninth-Stage, only held back at the threshold before reaching Stellar-Level. For this specially cultivated Muyun Vine, this growth rate wasn’t particularly fast.
“The steel city,” Luo Feng muttered as he and the metal robot flew into the underground steel city, narrowly surviving a laser attack and rushing inside.
A pitch-black city.
With his mental power, Luo Feng discovered that the city’s buildings were extremely densely packed.
“Luo Feng, the entire city is almost entirely constructed from Xuanti,” Babata said. “Quickly, follow my instructions to cut off the energy supply first, to prevent any attacks from important locations within this underground steel city.”
“Got it.”
Luo Feng understood the importance of cutting off the energy supply.
“Left.”
“Turn, right, that’s it.” Babata guided him, quickly leading Luo Feng to a dense area of thick metal pipelines.
“Use the Red Chaos Copper Mother fragment to cut all of these pipelines—completely!” Babata ordered.
Luo Feng, clad in blood-red Moyun armor, stared at the pipelines a hundred meters ahead, his mind focused.
Whoosh!
A streak of blood-red blur shot toward the pipelines. With Luo Feng’s Planet-Level Sixth-Stage mental power and Stellar-Level Third-Stage soul consciousness, he directed 32 strands of mental power, as strong as steel wires, toward the Red Chaos Copper Mother fragment. “Chachacha!” A series of sharp sounds rang out.
Sparks flew from the severed pipelines, causing a nearby metallic explosion with a thunderous boom.
“There are still eight energy towers left,” Babata said.
“Babata, lead the way,” Luo Feng said, swiftly flying.
This was merely a mining base.
After the space fleet was destroyed, the miners, deprived of supplies and forced underground by the harsh environment, hastily constructed this crude steel city using large quantities of equipment. The city was built primarily with the most abundant material available—Xuanti. Despite the passage of time, the energy towers kept the city intact. It was truly impressive.
Within just a few minutes,
Luo Feng severed all the energy supplies to the steel city.
“Ha! All done. Luo Feng, if I’m right, the miners must have carefully stored the Xuanti Essence they later mined. Let’s start searching—grab anything valuable we find!” Babata urged.
Luo Feng immediately began his search through the underground steel city.
