Chapter 577: This Is Arrogance

The city was in chaos.

Everywhere was ablaze with flames reaching the sky.

Innumerable brilliant and dazzling beams of light shot up into the sky.

Overwhelming battle intent and endless killing aura surged through the city.

Lu Yu knew that the city was in chaos.

Boom!

Dozens of figures dashed out from the cluster of buildings not far from where Lu Yu stood.

These figures transformed into streaks of light and rushed towards Yan Xisheng and Li Lin.

“Do you think I don’t know?” Li Lin coldly retorted, “You’re nothing but the old man’s men, sent here to assassinate me!”

Li Lin’s physical body was nearly invincible. With each punch, he shattered the figures rushing toward him, causing sprays of blood to rain down. As the crimson droplets drenched his body, he let out a cruel and exhilarated laugh.

In the distance along the street, groups of soldiers were approaching the cluster of villas.

Between the tall buildings on both sides of the street, many figures also rushed out to intercept the soldiers approaching the villa complex.

The smell of blood spread instantly.

The city of four by nine walls seemed like a slumbering beast that suddenly awoke, its fangs bristling.

The civilians in the city trembled in fear, hiding in their homes as if facing the arrival of the apocalypse once again.

Yan Xisheng and Li Lin stood on either side, their eyes shooting out glares that gleamed like demons with bloodshot flashes.

“Who else is there!” Lu Yu stood proudly before the two, holding his battle axe, exuding an awe-inspiring regal aura akin to an emperor surveying his domain.

“Lu Yu, don’t get too arrogant,” Li Lin said through gritted teeth, his expression fierce. “It’s you alone against the two of us. You’ll find it hard to kill even one of us. When we attack together, can you really withstand both?”

Yan Xisheng clenched his fists and said coldly, “Brother Li, I will kill him with my own hands and tear him apart piece by piece.”

“Brother Yan, it’s not just you. Don’t forget, my son was also killed by him. This man must die by our hands. Let’s not argue; when we capture him, we’ll act together. We must torture him until he longs for neither life nor death.”

As Li Lin spoke, his mind was unknown to others, thinking about what kind of cruel punishment, his smile was ruthless and terrifying.

“Two people suddenly transforming from ruffians into experts? You two are still just ruffians, how can you possibly contend with me?”

Lu Yu replied with disdain.

“Lu Yu, do you know what we stand for under this vast sky?” Yan Xisheng sneered coldly, “Right here, this is our domain. Even if you kneel down and beg for mercy now, I’ll still torture you to death.”

“Kowtow?!” Lu Yu sneered, raising his hand slightly. “You’re talking too much. What exactly are you afraid of me for?”

Lu Yu waved his hand and revived Li Han and Yan Zheng from war mode. He said, “Or perhaps your hatred is still too little?”

The two resurrected individuals quickly realized their situation after a moment of confusion.

With a wail of despair, the two cried out to Li Lin and Yan Xisheng, shouting, “Save us, Father, save us quickly!”

“Bang!”

Lu Yu snapped his fingers. In an instant, both men’s tongues exploded into a bloody pulp, and blood continuously streamed from their mouths.

“Lu Yu, that’s enough!” Li Lin’s eyes looked as if they were bleeding. Seeing his own son getting hurt, he couldn’t help but scream in anguish.

The old man in the wheelchair could be seen clearly from a distance, his beard and hair disheveled, pounding the armrests of his chair in fury and shouting, “Li Lin, kill him for me! I want to watch him die with my own eyes. My grandson—his life for mine!”

“Wu, wu,” the two people cried out in alarm, frightened, and ran towards Li Lin and Yan Xisheng.

A flash of the axe.

The four legs were amputated below the knees.

“Ahh, ugh!” The two people frantically waved their hands and crawled on the ground.

Lu Yu sneered, “Aren’t you going to make a move yet? Do you two only know how to talk big and lack the courage to take action?”

“Kill you.” Li Lin couldn’t hold back any longer and lunged at Lu Yu.

His power even moved Lu Yu, causing him to be deeply impressed.

It was as if a meteor were gliding across the ground, its movement shaking the streets and causing everything to tremble.

“Boom.” Lu Yu swung his war axe straight down.

Li Lin suddenly stopped midway, instantly changing direction with a clever diagonal dash.

“It’s just a petty trick,” Lu Yu sneered, showing great disdain.

In his eyes, Li Lin’s way of playing was nothing special.

Lu Yu had experienced battle after battle, each one no less perilous than this. If he couldn’t see through an enemy’s move, he wouldn’t deserve to stand here.

Li Lin changes direction, and the battle axe changes with him.

The battle axe, which had been swung downward in a straight arc, reversed direction and swept across Li Lin’s waist.

Li Lin was split in half as if struck by lightning, flying sideways with blood gushing from his waist and ribs. A half-foot-long wound, like an open mouth, was torn open.

The axe’s glow swept over Li Han and Yan Zheng. The flesh and skin on their bodies seemed to be devoured by the light, gradually turning into ashes bit by bit.

The two individuals could feel pain, continuously wailing and crying out in agony, filled with fear and helplessness.

They regretted it, regretted not having been too arrogant.

The taste of death was enough to break both of them, filling them with overwhelming regret.

They were wrong, really wrong.

Yan Xisheng looked at his son’s tragic state and couldn’t help but wish to tear Lu Yu apart right now, and he began to move as well.

Just as he was about to move, he lost sight of Lu Yu.

Boom!

Yan Xisheng’s occipital region split open with a crack, struck by a battle axe.

He himself was flung straight into the air and landed flat against the wall of a high-rise building.

The sky really is terrifying.

Even by activating the power of the Star Artifact, one could not destroy even a fraction of the surrounding buildings.

However, Yan Xisheng was struck by this axe blow, causing blood to drip from the back of his head.

The injury is not minor, but it is recovering rapidly.

Yan Xisheng pushed off the building with both hands. Just as his body began to lift away from the structure, a violent gust of wind erupted from behind his head.

Bang!

The battle axe cleaved into Yan Xisheng’s chest, splitting the heart in two.

A blood-soaked corpse swung on the battle axe before Lu Yu kicked it away with one swift motion.

At the same moment, Li Lin’s attack arrived.

“Bang!” The punch landed on Lu Yu’s back, causing him to stagger and spit out a large mouthful of blood.

Li Lin raised his leg and kicked toward Lu Yu’s knee, coldly snarling, “Get down on your knees!”

He kicked and missed.

Tian Ling’s skull cracked from the impact of the war axe, and he staggered forward, nearly falling.

Before he could react, he heard a cold command from behind: “Get down on your knees!”

Bang!

Li Lin’s knee was struck again by the battle axe, producing a crunching sound from his leg bone. His legs gave way, and he fell to his knees.

Li Lin’s eyes were wide with rage, blood dripping from them.

Lu Yu was too arrogant; he actually had everything he needed to do returned to him.

Li Lin tried to dodge, but the battle axe struck his neck, cleaving his head off.

Beheading.

And even beheaded while kneeling.

The elderly man in the wheelchair felt that his family had suffered the greatest humiliation, wishing he could take action himself.

The men and women in the distance were filled with immense terror.

When did the Li family ever get pushed to such a desperate situation!

Li Lin’s body was kicked so hard that it flew far away.

Behind Lu Yu, Yan Xisheng’s attack arrived.

Lu Yu swung his axe and sent Yan Xi flying sideways with a single strike.

“How many more of you are there? The two of you are far from enough—you’re too weak, much too weak. Do you really think you, just a couple of hooligans, can challenge me? You’re overestimating yourselves.”

Lu Yu was extremely arrogant, which made Li Lin and Yan Xisheng so angry that their whole bodies trembled.

The old man in the wheelchair shouted, “Lu Yu, without the star artifact in your hand, what are you?!”

“Old man, without this sky screen, do you think you and your kind would have the audacity to speak to me like this? Just moments ago, you didn’t even dare to let out a fart. It’s merely because the sky screen has appeared that you’ve become so arrogant. Can a mere sky screen really change your fate?”

“Wow!” The old man was so enraged that he spat out a mouthful of blood.

Since when had a young man become qualified to speak to him in this manner.

Even the several prominent figures from the four cities back then dared not act so arrogantly in front of him.

Li Lin gritted his teeth and said, “Without a star artifact, you wouldn’t even have the qualification to fight against us!”

“Is that so?” Lu Yu put away his battle axe, glanced at the two with disdain, and said, “Even if I fight empty-handed, do you two think you’re worthy of battling me?”

When Li Lin and Yan Xisheng saw Lu Yu put away his battle axe, they couldn’t help but feel startled!

Immediately, the two were overjoyed. Their eyes met, and they rushed towards Lu Yu at the same time.

Hmph!

Faint shadows flickered across the sky.

Lu Yu disappeared.

In the sky, a loud clinking sound of sword blades rang out.

Boom. Boom.

Above the flat ground, clusters of tornadoes reached up to the sky.

The divine speed of the Sky-Sundering Wings whips up storms wherever it passes.

Li Lin and Yan Xisheng didn’t even get a clear look at Lu Yu before they felt their skin being sliced by countless sharp blades.

The Li family was stunned.

They could no longer see Lu Yu, as if he had truly vanished.

In the sky, only a vast net composed of interwoven blue light remained, descending toward Li Lin and Yan Xisheng.

Li Lin and Yan Xisheng had no time to react.

The whirlwind storm lifted the two people up into the sky.

Clang, clang…

The clashing sound of metal rang out, and the humming of sword blades echoed through the sky.

The two let out piercing screams as countless sword marks covered their bodies. In an instant, millions of slashes shredded their flesh into tiny pieces.

In just an instant, the two of them were reduced to nothing but skeletons.

Bang.

Lu Yu’s body appeared in midair, his palms striking out and shattering the bones of two individuals.

He stood in the void, gazing down at the earth like a god of war.

Their flesh and blood writhed on the ground, soon coalescing into two human forms.

The two men felt very indignant, yet their eyes also revealed a hint of fear.

Lu Yu looked down at the two of them, his voice cold as he said, “I don’t have a Star Artifact either, yet you still won’t let me use the Sky-Sundering Wings this time?”

Yan Xisheng said, “Lu Yu, don’t get too arrogant. This world isn’t only about you being the strongest; you’re still just one person.”

“Haha, I’m just one person. Yet, even alone, I can make you all feel threatened. What else do you have to say?”

“Yan Brother, Li Brother, are you in trouble?” A burly man in his forties, covered in blood, was walking down the street, drawing closer and closer.

This man was different from Yan Xisheng and Li Lin. The aura of iron and blood around him spoke volumes, indicating he was a man who had emerged from a military background.

“Huang Haoming, you arrived too late,” Li Lin laughed heartily upon seeing the person, and said, “You’ve taken care of the trouble.”

Li Lin and Yan Xisheng were overjoyed when they saw the person who had arrived.

“Several dozen people wanted to assassinate me. Does that person think preparing so many is enough?” Huang Haoming coldly snorted, looking up at the person in the sky, and said, “It was this person who killed the two sons of your people.”

“That’s right, that’s him.” Yan Xisheng pointed at Lu Yu and said, “Help me break his limbs; I want to personally execute him by lingchi.”

“Okay.” Huang Haoming nodded, doing so very readily.

“Does having one more person really add to your confidence?” Lu Yu scoffed, shaking his index finger slightly. He sighed and shook his head, saying, “You’re still too weak. If there are more of you, just come together. Don’t make me crush you one by one like killing ants, unable to even ignite my fighting spirit. It’s just too boring.”
