Chapter 155: Disaster at Dragon Cliff (3)

Mei’s eyes sparkled. Almost snatching it away, she pulled the sword pouch toward her, ripped it open, and saw the three swords inside. A flicker of shock crossed Xing Mei’s face: “This is!!! This…”

“What is it?” Yang Hao, although aware that these swords were heirlooms of the Ten Sword Sect, couldn’t imagine that they could shock even a deity to this extent.

“None of your damn business!” Xing Mei, indeed worthy of being a goddess, quickly regained her composure. She seemed afraid Yang Hao would snatch it back, so she tightly fastened the sword pouch to her body.

“Well then, since you’ve accepted the gift, you should find me a good place to stay, right?” Yang Hao pouted, his face full of expectation.

“Of course!” Xing Mei fully displayed the noble demeanor of a deity who always keeps her word. “I’m the kind of person who is definitely soft-hearted when someone gives me something, and my mouth gets shut when I eat someone else’s food. I’m the kindest person around!”

“That’s great, that’s great!” Yang Hao finally felt relieved. At this point, as long as he didn’t have to feed the Kadith dragon clan, anything else would be fine. Especially considering how generous his bribe had been, he figured Xing Mei could find him a good place.

Yang Hao’s mind drifted, already imagining himself living a divine life in the celestial realm, surrounded and served by countless fairies.

“Stop dreaming!” Hun Yuan Zi sensed his apprentice’s thoughts and, as usual, came to pour cold water on his enthusiasm.

“Dreams do come true!” Yang Hao’s inexplicable confidence was boundless.

“That’s right!” Surprisingly, Xing Mei agreed. “Dreams do come true! This is also the shared belief of the deities.”

“Great, great!” Yang Hao excitedly rubbed his hands together. “So, where are you going to take me to enjoy myself? Is there a Star Sea of Flying Stars here? How about a Diamond House?”

“No Diamond House, but…” A sly glint flickered in her eyes as she softly said, “There is a dark, big dragon’s nest!”

Before her words had finished echoing, Xing Mei had already extended her beautiful long legs and kicked Yang Hao with all her might right in the backside: “Go keep the Kadith dragons company properly!”

“Waaah!!!” Yang Hao had been lost in his fantasies and was completely unprepared. With a single kick from Xing Mei’s flying phoenix kick, he was sent tumbling into the bottomless abyss of the Dragon Cliff. From deep within the valley, his pitifully wailing voice kept echoing: “You hag, you cheater! You old hag, you’re so despicable!”

Unfortunately, no matter how pitiful or sorrowful that voice became, no one would hear it. And when Yang Hao, like a stone, fell near the dragon’s lair halfway down the cliff, a sudden current violently swept him into the dragon’s cave, abruptly cutting off his cries!

Thus, life really is a tragedy.

If time could rewind half a year, back when Yang Hao was studying at the Laimon Star Advanced Academy, who could have imagined that on such a mysteriously strange afternoon, he would mysteriously find himself abducted into the celestial realm, and then be cast down the Dragon Cliff by a goddess.

And now it had become even more absurd—he had actually ended up in the darkest and most terrifying dragon’s lair in the entire world.

Yang Hao had heard legends about the Kadith dragon clan before, but they were all just exaggerated rumors, mostly describing the dragons’ cruelty and bloodthirstiness.

It wasn’t until Yang Hao was truly sucked into the dragon’s lair that he realized how untrue those legends were—completely nonsense. All those so-called legendary tales about peaceful coexistence between humans and dragons, or about the dragon’s lair being filled with gold and treasures, were pure lies.

Quite the opposite, Yang Hao’s current feelings were extremely strange—strange to the extreme.

Certainly, he was in an enormous cave, nearly as large as an entire mountain hollowed out. But it wasn’t pitch black here; instead, a sickly green glow covered everything.

Even so, it wasn’t particularly strange. After all, Yang Hao had been through many life-and-death situations and wasn’t easily frightened.

But the atmosphere and sensation all around him were completely new experiences. Perhaps he had occasionally sensed something like this before, but never had he truly been immersed in it like now.

Darkness and evil here had become something real, as if every molecule of air was filled with terrifying black elements that could make one’s hair stand on end.

“Too… unbelievable.” Even the previous betrayal by Xing Mei was completely forgotten.

“I’m still here.” Hun Yuan Zi’s low voice came, and this time he was unusually serious. His calm, steady tone brought a warm current into Yang Hao’s heart, slightly calming him.

“What do we do now?” Yang Hao kept suppressing the nausea rising in his chest. Each breath he took seemed like it could suffocate him.

“Apprentice, you must remember—no matter what happens, you must remember.” Hun Yuan Zi’s voice sounded odd, as if foreseeing something. “Although the Dan Ding Dual Cultivation Sect is not accepted by the orthodox sects, it has never been a dark sect. Even if its disciples are not bound by etiquette, they would never commit heinous crimes.”

“I know.”

“You must remember—no matter what, you must remember your own justice. Even if you are in darkness, you must not forget that you are pure, that you are light.”

“I know.”

“Whether or not to rebel against the Empire is your decision, but remember—no matter what, remember that your master’s enemies are in the Imperial Senate.” Hun Yuan Zi’s voice grew louder, almost shouting. “Whether I’m here or not, you must take revenge. This hatred is not just mine—it belongs to the entire sect, to the Dan Ding Dual Cultivation Sect!”

“I know!!” Yang Hao, from somewhere unknown, suddenly found a surge of courage. He stood up abruptly and shouted in response with all his might.

“You must remember—never let the Dan Ding Dual Cultivation Sect perish. Your master spent thousands of years and exhausted all his power just to leave you as the last spark. No matter what it costs, you must keep that flame burning forever, never letting it be extinguished.”

“I know!!” Yang Hao didn’t know what was happening, but he sensed the wild and unbridled tone in Hun Yuan Zi’s voice, as if the invincible Hun Yuan Zi from thousands of years ago had returned.

“Now!” Hun Yuan Zi, as if tired, softly smiled. “Let there be light.”

Creating light was not difficult.

Yang Hao gently exhaled true energy, and immediately a flower of true flame bloomed in his palm, bringing brilliant light into the sinister dragon’s lair.

But the flames suddenly flickered violently. Yang Hao looked up and saw a sight he would never forget for the rest of his life. Not far from him, at most a hundred meters away, a giant beast sat motionless like a statue.

A dragon!

What should a dragon look like in everyone’s mind? In ancient times, the Chinese believed that a dragon with a snake-like body that could soar through the skies was a symbol of good fortune. But later, it was proven that dragons that once existed in the universe mostly had broad wings and massive bodies as tall as buildings. Their expressions were fierce, and fire would constantly spew from their mouths filled with jagged teeth.

There were even more terrifying rumors about the Kadith dragon clan, making Yang Hao always believe that these dragons should be unimaginably fierce, ugly like aliens, with heads as large as several mountains, and their teeth perhaps always dripping with the blood of their victims.

But now, Yang Hao’s flame trembled. The first thing he saw was a pair of eyes—eyes that were beyond imagination. There was no trace of beastly ferocity in those eyes. Instead, they were filled with wisdom, like still water, like two ancient wells that had stood untouched for countless years, silent and unmoving.

And the massive body of the Kadith dragon wasn’t as terrifying as Xing Mei had described. Although its huge frame nearly filled half the cave, even with its wings folded, it still exuded the majesty of a sky-soaring beast. Although its skin was an eerie mix of gray-white and red, it remained motionless, even quieter than a statue—seemingly not particularly frightening.

But Yang Hao felt more fear than ever before. When his gaze shifted from the dragon to its side, his body trembled like a sieve, nearly collapsing to the ground.

Right next to the massive Kadith dragon was a row of nest-like structures resembling incubators. But inside them, there were no baby dragons. The only things present were rows of complete human skeletons. These skeletons were intact, as if they hadn’t died violently, but rather had their skin and flesh rot and peel away simultaneously, leaving only bones behind.

Even more mysteriously, each skull had a strangely shaped baby bottle stuck in its gaping mouth. Inside each bottle glowed a faint green light, the nature of which was unknown.

“What the hell is this?” Shocked by the surroundings, Yang Hao noticed that the dragon kept staring at him but made no sound at all. “You… you’re supposed to be some kind of dragon clan. Why don’t you just speak up? If I’m going to die or live, at least give me a clear answer!” Feeling that his fate was likely grim, Yang Hao bravely shouted out.

But the Kadith dragon remained completely still, as if it couldn’t hear Yang Hao at all, completely ignoring him, still silently staring at him.

“Can just staring kill someone?” Though his heart was uneasy, Yang Hao’s mouth was still sharp. “Pathetic celestial race, can’t even talk. Are you mute?”

“It did speak.” Hun Yuan Zi suddenly sighed, his voice filled with sadness. “It has been speaking to me all along.”

“Talking to you? How come I can’t hear anything?” Yang Hao felt puzzled. “Could this damned dragon have racial discrimination? Does it dislike handsome and talented young men like me?”
