Chapter 60: In Charge

“Finney, are you in a lot of pain? But I saw you were the first one to sleep with Daniel yesterday. I thought you were experienced!” Celia continued teasing Finney, watching her pained expression.

“Exactly! If it hadn’t been for you initiating things with Daniel last night, none of us would have slept with him either!” Karen said, feigning indignation.

“You’re the ones with experience—you’re both way more daring than me! Besides, when I watched him with you, I compared him to what I’ve seen in instructional videos. He’s bigger than average, Karen. You’re so petite, how could you handle him?” Finney said as she approached Karen.

Mu Lin knew that listening to the girls bicker further was pointless. What he must face, he must handle himself. He left the lounge and walked toward the room he now considered the girls’ quarters. He knocked on the door and waited for their reaction, giving them enough time to mentally prepare themselves.

Sure enough, when the knock sounded, all noise from inside ceased immediately. After a long pause, Finney’s lazy, sultry voice floated out: “Is that Daniel? The door’s unlocked, come in yourself!”

Mu Lin pushed the door open and scanned the room. The girls were already fully dressed, though their clothes bore signs of being torn. The room had been tidied up and returned to its usual neatness—unless one looked closely, there would be no evidence of the previous night’s activities. However, since the girls had just woken up, the window had been opened a bit late, leaving the room filled with the lingering scent of intimacy.

Seeing Mu Lin’s gaze shift from them to the room, the three girls blushed deeply and glared at him resentfully. Mu Lin couldn’t help but shudder inwardly. In the past, whenever he saw that look in their eyes, he’d end up in a miserable state for several days. Feeling the pressure, he awkwardly blurted out, “You girls look really beautiful today! I came to call you for breakfast.”

Indeed, after the previous night’s activities, the girls’ skin had become even more delicate and smooth. Though the Caucasian girls had fair skin before, their pores had made their complexion appear somewhat coarse. Now, their skin was refined and lustrous, faintly glowing with a jade-like sheen.

Hearing Mu Lin’s compliment, the three girls looked at each other and indeed felt that each had become more beautiful than before. Driven by their natural love for beauty, especially in their youthful prime, they rushed to grab mirrors, laughing and commenting on each other. The atmosphere, previously awkward, instantly became light and cheerful.

Seeing the girls’ behavior, Mu Lin’s mood calmed down. He was an adult in both body and mind now and should take on the responsibility of ensuring the happiness of the women who followed him.

Mu Lin had been raised under the traditional teachings of his great-granduncle, which meant that deep down, he was a traditional Han man. Later, he gradually absorbed Western education from his teachers, and his thinking had indeed changed somewhat. But the traditional values instilled in him remained deeply rooted in his blood. Once a woman belonged to him, he would never allow her to suffer any injustice.

“Hehe! I think you girls should stop looking in the mirror. This is just the beginning—your beauty will only increase. At that point, I might have to hire a whole squad of bodyguards just to keep all the men on the street from rioting over you,” Mu Lin teased lightly, now feeling more at ease.

“Pfft! Who said we’re going to stay with you forever?” Celia shot back, blushing.

Finney and Karen remained silent, their faces flushed with embarrassment.

“Oh really? Then tell me who else you think you can be with? If you really don’t want to be with me, that’s fine—you can leave now. But once you walk out that door, don’t ever think about coming back!” Mu Lin said, his face darkening.

In his mind, once a woman had a relationship with him, he had the responsibility to protect her, both materially and emotionally. But betrayal was something he could never tolerate. His modern education had taught him that everyone was an independent individual with their own thoughts. Therefore, he only wanted women who truly wished to be with him of their own free will. He had no interest in women who wanted to debate feminism with him. Throughout history and across cultures, male dominance had always existed—even in Salt Lake City, USA, there were still many polygamous families. From the very beginning, he wanted the women to understand this clearly.

Celia, seeing Mu Lin’s serious expression, was frightened into a soft sob. Finney and Karen had originally wanted to defend Celia, but seeing that the usually gentle Mu Lin now looked so stern, they lowered their heads in fear and dared not speak.

Seeing the girls’ reactions, Mu Lin felt a surge of satisfaction. He had traveled and studied for three years—what hadn’t he experienced? He knew well that after a slap, one must offer a sweet. “Since you girls are willing to stay with me, I will take full responsibility for you from now on. I promise you won’t suffer any injustice. Now, what are those faces for? Remember, you’re grown women now. Why are you crying? If you keep crying, you won’t be pretty anymore!”

“Ha!” Finney suddenly burst out laughing. “Oh my God! You’re not even eighteen yet, little junior. How are you going to take responsibility for us? And you don’t even have a job—you’re still supporting your two younger sisters! You do charity work treating patients, so how do you plan to support us? And if we had children, how would you take care of them? If anything, we should be the ones taking care of you! Haha!” Finney continued laughing.

As Finney’s teasing ended, Karen covered her mouth trying not to laugh out loud, her face turning red from holding it in. Celia also broke into a tearful laugh. The previously tense atmosphere was instantly broken by Finney’s words, turning into a cheerful mood.

Looking at the girls now, Mu Lin couldn’t help but smile. In his heart, he thought: What is this? What kind of nonsense is this? Now they’re talking about taking care of me? Then what would that make me? No, I have to put a stop to their arrogance now, or else when Claire and that mischievous Hong Jiani come, I won’t have a peaceful day left!

“Finney, last night I was the one who took full responsibility for all three of you. I still remember who was the first to give up. You girls talking about taking care of me? Judging by last night’s performance, I’d say that’s still a bit premature. Besides, why didn’t you girls mention my age last night?” With these sharp words, Mu Lin made the three girls lower their heads in embarrassment, hiding like ostriches. Their faces were flushed with shame, and Finney was giggling softly to herself.

Seeing the girls’ reactions, Mu Lin couldn’t help but puff out his chest proudly.
