Chapter 59: Supernatural Ability

After running for several Sundays, Mu Lin finally got up. Looking at his three sleeping women, a realization surged through his heart. The world is so beautiful and captivating precisely because of women. Solitary yin cannot give birth, and lone yang cannot grow. With the love his women give him, he now feels a deep sense of attachment and responsibility toward them, and women have the power to calm a man’s restless heart.

This dual cultivation had come earlier than Mu Lin had anticipated. Originally, he had planned to wait until he broke through to the early Golden Core stage, when his age and natural physical development would be more mature. Now, having already performed dual cultivation with Finny and the others, he wasn’t sure how he’d face girls like Claire. Just thinking about Claire’s mournful gaze made his heart tighten. Well, he thought, I’ll deal with them when I see them.

Tucking the blankets around the three sleeping women and kissing their cheeks gently, Mu Lin got up and went to the courtyard to exercise. He didn’t want to act unusually and draw attention from others.

He began practicing Tai Chi. Today, his breath flowed smoothly, his movements were fluid and graceful, and his entire form harmonized with the rotation of the heavens and stars. The entire set of movements flowed like drifting clouds and running water, elegant and natural. After finishing, Mu Lin felt refreshed and energized, realizing that his physical cultivation had made significant progress. Even without drawing on his spiritual energy, he could now handle any ordinary martial artist with ease.

When he returned to the room, he tried using the newly acquired psychic abilities to check on Finny and the others, but after several attempts, he failed.

This made him begin to think deeply. He recalled that last night, his use of lightning had succeeded precisely because his mental energy had resonated with the same frequency as the other person’s. He had mimicked their brainwave pattern, which allowed him to unleash the lightning. Now, attempting to use the same frequency for psychic scanning naturally led to failure. This made him realize that each person’s mental wavelength was as unique as a fingerprint.

Mu Lin’s spiritual energy, though cultivated later in life, was like a towering tree compared to the natural-born psychic energies of those others, who were like mere saplings. Ordinary people, in contrast, were like grass beneath the tree.

Mu Lin’s spiritual awareness was generated by his spiritual energy, functioning like an invisible pair of hands that extended with the increase of his energy. The others, however, were born with strong mental powers. In medieval Europe, such individuals were often seen as demons in the same way as in ancient China—either exiled or burned alive by religious inquisitors as heretics.

In recent years, with the gradual development of science and the rise of humanism, these people were no longer seen as freaks. They began to organize themselves, exchanging experiences and discovering that each person’s unique mental wavelength could produce different abilities. Only those with particularly strong mental powers could mimic others’ wavelengths and learn their abilities. Over time, these individuals formed various psychic associations, standing in opposition to religious knightly orders. The people Mu Lin had encountered last night were members of the New York Psychic Association.

Mu Lin had turned four people into mindless husks the night before. This morning, he had gone out for his usual exercise, as he had done in Boston, trying not to attract suspicion. He had no idea whether these people had any connections to Boston.

He focused on the brainwave pattern of the person he had copied before and extended his spiritual sense outward. Sure enough, his consciousness spread like mercury, seeping through the building and transmitting every detail back to his mind. The entire scene unfolded in his consciousness, even the sounds as clear as if spoken directly into his ears. It consumed no spiritual energy, was easy to use, and was highly covert, making it difficult for others to detect.

Mu Lin realized he had now mastered four new psychic abilities. With a reference point, he could learn even more. This gave him more tools and strategies to defeat future enemies.

Before he could even savor his success, the scene inside the room captured his attention. The three girls had woken up. Though girls in U country received early sex education, making them less naive about intimacy compared to girls from the Chinese mainland, the shyness of a first time and the awkwardness of having been together with four people still made them reluctant to face each other.

“Oh no, Daniel will be back soon!” Finny, the boldest of the three, spoke first.

“Yes, it would be so embarrassing if he walked in and saw us still naked!” Silia turned to Kelly and asked, “Would you feel comfortable dressing in front of him?”

Kelly shyly shook her head, blushing.

“Then why aren’t you getting dressed already? Do you *want* him to see you?” Silia urged while pulling on her clothes.

“Speak for yourself! I think *you’re* the one who likes showing off in front of him. Didn’t you always walk around naked in front of him before?” Finny shot back while dressing. Seeing the two getting up, Kelly, too, worried about Daniel returning and quickly began dressing, despite her embarrassment.

The three beautiful, tall, youthful figures caught Mu Lin’s eyes. Before, he had been too shy to look, and last night had been all about the dual cultivation, leaving no time to truly appreciate their delicate forms. Now that he was a man, and they were officially his women, watching their playful silhouettes in the sunlit room made his mouth water. He barely paid attention to their conversation.

“Haha! And what about you two? You pretend to be shy, but you’re always flashing him too!” Silia fired back while playfully tugging at Finny.

“And you two *like* seeing him blush—you do it on purpose!” This time, even the shy Kelly joined in.

“Haha! So even *you* dared to flirt with Daniel? Because you know he’s such a shy boy, right?” Silia teased Kelly.

“But how did that shy little boy become so brave last night?” Finny’s words made all three girls lower their heads again, silently dressing. As virgins, they winced in pain while getting dressed.

It seemed their usual flirtatious behavior in front of Mu Lin had all been pretend. Shaking his head, Mu Lin thought, *How did I end up being bossed around by these girls?* Well… *hehe!*

Still lost in his daydreaming, Mu Lin hesitated before entering the building, so long that the security guard on duty thought he was spacing out and was about to call him back to reality.

Snapping out of his fantasy, Mu Lin went to the lounge inside the building, waiting for the girls to finish dressing. Judging from their earlier reactions, if he walked in suddenly, he’d definitely be chased out by the embarrassed girls. He also wanted to overhear what the girls would say now that they were officially his women.

Now that the girls had broken ties with their families and were clearly choosing to live with him, he still needed to prepare for the aftermath—especially how to deal with Claire and, even more daunting, Miss Hong Jiani.
