Chapter 111: Negotiation

At night, Mu Lin picked up Xiao Laipi from outside the hotel and brought him back to his room. He still had one task to complete that night: erase all memories of Xiao Laipi from Dake and his family. This way, neither Xiao Laipi nor himself would face any future complications.

As Mu Lin prepared to leave his room that night, Xiao Laipi followed closely behind him, seemingly afraid that Mu Lin might abandon him. Mu Lin glanced at him and asked, “I’m about to clean up your mess. Why are you following me?”

“Hey, I’m a girl, you know! Don’t talk so rudely!” Xiao Laipi murmured behind him.

Mu Lin’s face turned red at this remark. He glared fiercely at Xiao Laipi before saying, “Tonight I’m going to visit the Marque family’s villa again to erase all memories of you from their minds. Isn’t that exactly what I mean by cleaning up your mess?”

“This is my matter, and I want to go too!” Xiao Laipi said defiantly, lifting his head toward Mu Lin.

“Nonsense! I’m erasing their memories. If you go along, everything I do will be for nothing. Could it be that you’re still attached to them and want to see them one last time?” Mu Lin scolded Xiao Laipi sternly.

“Fine! If you don’t want me to go, then I won’t! Why are you being so harsh?” Xiao Laipi muttered discontentedly.

“Alright, I’ll use teleportation to go directly there. If there’s a phone call in the room, you handle it. I’ll be back soon!” Without looking at Xiao Laipi, Mu Lin immediately used teleportation in the room and vanished.

After Mu Lin finished dealing with the Marque family and returned to the room, Xiao Laipi was startled by Mu Lin’s sudden reappearance and stood frozen.

“Hey! What’s wrong with you? Did anyone call while I was away?” Mu Lin asked the dazed Xiao Laipi, thinking to himself that even an ancient demon should have more composure.

“Oh, nothing really! It’s just been centuries since I’ve seen such a thing, so I was a bit surprised. No calls for you!” Xiao Laipi quickly recovered.

The next morning, after returning to the room from breakfast, Mu Lin began reading the *Chicago Morning News*. Sure enough, the Marque family’s leadership change was prominently featured on the front page with a large headline. The article below was brief, stating that the current CEO of the Marque family had handed over leadership to the new CEO due to health reasons. Following this were brief biographies of the two and some past gossip, but no more detailed articles appeared.

Seeing this, Mu Lin couldn’t help but marvel at the media’s keen sense. If he hadn’t dealt with Xiao Laipi’s lingering traces the previous night, the media’s relentless investigation might soon expose Xiao Laipi’s existence, and then Xiao Laipi would be in real trouble.

Thinking of this, a faint smile appeared on his lips. He looked at Xiao Laipi and casually tossed the newspaper to him, who had been stretching his neck to watch Mu Lin closely.

Standing up, Mu Lin prepared to contact the local branch of the Douglas Law Firm, asking them to send professional personnel to accompany him in negotiating the patent acquisition with World Electronics. The previous preliminary contact had made Mu Lin realize that no matter how rich or powerful he was here, without a few white assistants trailing behind him, no one would take him seriously.

Mu Lin guessed that after the CEO of World Electronics saw that day’s newspaper, he would surely seize this opportunity to raise the negotiation price. If nothing unexpected happened, a call should come soon.

After contacting the local law firm branch, Mu Lin asked them to immediately arrange for several professionals to come over to prepare for that day’s negotiations. Even if negotiations didn’t happen today, having a few people around would be convenient for him to inspect the local clinic branch, making things easier for himself and giving him some satisfaction.

After a while, four staff members from the law firm arrived at Mu Lin’s room. They were all around thirty years old and top professionals. Mu Lin explained to them the matter of acquiring the mobile phone simulation patent and also showed them the two contracts he had signed with ATS. Before he had finished explaining, the phone in the room rang. Mu Lin picked up the receiver, and indeed, it was an invitation from World Electronics’ secretary for him to come to their company for negotiations. Mu Lin responded that he would go to World Electronics in the afternoon.

By the time these professionals fully understood what Mu Lin had explained, it was nearly noon.

In the afternoon, Mu Lin and his team arrived in front of World Electronics’ headquarters. The receptionist in the lobby had obviously been informed and directly led Mu Lin and his team into a small meeting room.

Charles, the CEO of World Electronics, soon arrived with five staff members. He probably hadn’t expected that after hearing about the leadership change at ATS, Mu Lin would still bring more negotiation representatives. After brief greetings and introductions, both sides got straight to business.

Charles appeared particularly energetic that day: “I’m very pleased that your company is taking our analog mobile phone and related extended patents seriously! I know that Manager Daniel has been here for quite some time and has worked hard on this matter. But I’m even happier that you’ve sent a formal negotiation team this time, which shows your seriousness.

Manager Daniel, as I told you last time, these patents are co-owned by us and the laboratory controlled by ATS. Do you still remember that?”

Seeing Mu Lin nodding, Charles continued: “I believe you’ve all seen today’s newspaper report. Due to the previous CEO of ATS having health issues, they’ve now appointed a new CEO. Therefore, ATS currently won’t be sending anyone to negotiate this matter with you.

So for now, only our company can negotiate with you regarding this matter. After discussions by our board, regarding your acquisition proposal, we still insist on our previously proposed terms. As for your acquisition of these patents, it will be handled after we complete our negotiations with you, and then we will coordinate with ATS to expedite the process. As you know, our two companies were originally one before being split. Do you, Manager Daniel, have any opinions on this?”

Seeing the smug look on this guy’s face, Mu Lin didn’t want to engage with him much. He gestured to his accompanying team, and the leader immediately stood up: “President Charles, although we are here to acquire these patents, your company only owns a portion of them. As a professional lawyer, I have the duty to remind you of this. If you insist on making such statements, we will consider it commercial fraud, so please keep that in mind.

Additionally, we have already signed a patent acquisition contract with ATS, with a total acquisition amount of two hundred million dollars. We also request that your company record this information. Here are the attached documents for your reference.

Thirdly, the acquisition amount our company offers for your company will also be reduced to two hundred million dollars instead of the original four hundred million. This includes all existing patents and the priority purchase rights for related future patents.

Fourthly, our client is not only purchasing under the name of Daniel Investment Limited, but also adding Daniel United Clinic as a co-buyer for the patent acquisition.

Lastly, we will only wait until tomorrow. After tomorrow, we will no longer proceed with acquiring these patents.”

After finishing his speech, Mu Lin ignored the pale-faced Charles and directly led his team out of the meeting room at World Electronics.
