Chapter 128: Destiny Across Three Lifetimes

Liu Dashao called out to Master Huang, “Master Huang, I’m here! I’ve finished reading that book too!”

Master Huang looked at Liu Dashao with his small, grayish eyes and asked, “Can you already use all those techniques fluently?”

Liu Dashao grinned and replied, “I’ve memorized them all, ha ha!”

Seeing Liu Dashao’s careless attitude, Master Huang said, “I taught you these secret techniques of the Eight Trigrams so you could protect yourself and divine the future. Didn’t you foresee the danger to your life gate these past few days?”

At Master Huang’s words, Liu Dashao suddenly remembered that the Eight Trigrams techniques couldn’t predict the fate of the practitioner himself, and quickly asked, “Could it be that I’m in some kind of danger?”

Master Huang replied, “It’s not that your fate is blocked, but rather that you’re facing a major trial recently. Remember this—whatever strange things happen these days, don’t act on your own. Now, stretch out your left hand!”

After Master Huang finished speaking, Liu Dashao extended his left hand. Master Huang stood up, grabbed his finger, and suddenly bit him. Liu Dashao winced in pain and pulled his hand back. He heard Master Huang say, “Now that I’ve tasted your blood, I’ll come to your side the moment you’re in danger.”

Liu Dashao lifted his hand and looked at it. Where Master Huang had bitten him, there was now a small flower-shaped mark on the back of his hand.

“Don’t worry, Master Huang. I’ve already learned the secret techniques of the Eight Trigrams. Nothing will happen to me!” Liu Dashao replied cheerfully.

Master Huang sighed and said, “Remember—be cautious in everything. Recently, I’ve sensed a strong malevolent presence appearing in the village again. Be extremely careful!”

After saying this, Master Huang returned into the tree hollow, and Liu Dashao also left the grove.

On his way back, Liu Dashao felt that the path was unusually free of any evil aura. It was strange—when he passed the graveyard west of the village, he didn’t sense anything wrong at all, and that itself was abnormal.

After walking a few steps forward, Liu Dashao suddenly saw a figure standing on a nearby hill. He quietly crouched low and approached.

Liu Dashao found the figure strangely familiar, but couldn’t place who it was. As he drew closer, he realized it was a woman—delicate-looking, but with a sickly pallor. Liu Dashao nearly gasped aloud.

Wasn’t this the youngest daughter of Old Lady Li? Hadn’t she already died? Liu Dashao was puzzled. The woman’s expression seemed off, so he activated his Yin-Yang eyes to observe her. She had no sign of life at all—her entire body was surrounded by black qi.

This was the strongest yin presence Liu Dashao had ever encountered. Sensing the danger, he prepared to sneak away when suddenly the woman sharply turned her neck and stared directly at him.

Startled by her sudden movement, Liu Dashao hastily stepped back, readying a spell. But before he could complete the hand seal, a powerful gust of wind struck his face. The woman suddenly darted forward and struck him with a palm, sending him tumbling to the ground. Then he heard her speak in a deep male voice: “Little brat, you’ve got some guts!”

Liu Dashao was thrown far away, rolling on the ground several times, his body aching from the impact.

A surge of anger rose in his heart, but he knew this woman was no ordinary opponent, so he held himself back.

He stood up and angrily shouted at her, “You’re an adult bullying a child!”

Then, pretending to be upset, Liu Dashao turned his attention to figuring out a plan.

The woman ignored him and continued to inhale and exhale toward the sky.

Liu Dashao rubbed his forehead and activated his Yin-Yang vision. He saw the woman expelling black qi while absorbing moonlight. She must be some kind of evil entity.

But Liu Dashao couldn’t sense any evil aura on her, and she lacked the breath of life. Perhaps a malevolent spirit had possessed her body. However, even with his Yin-Yang vision, he couldn’t see it clearly. What was going on?

As Liu Dashao was puzzled, the woman suddenly spoke.

Liu Dashao addressed Second Master Huang, “Second Master, I’m here, and I’ve finished reading that book!”

Second Master Huang glanced at Liu Dashao with his small, dull eyes and asked, “Have you mastered all those techniques?”

Liu Dashao chuckled and replied, “Well, I’ve memorized them all, haha!”

Seeing Liu Dashao’s casual attitude, Second Master Huang said, “I taught you the secret arts of Qimen so you could protect yourself and divine the future. Haven’t you calculated your own fate recently?”

At Second Master Huang’s words, Liu Dashao realized that the Qimen arts couldn’t be used to divine one’s own destiny. He quickly asked, “Am I facing some obstacle recently?”

Second Master Huang replied, “It’s not that your fate is blocked, but you are about to encounter a significant challenge. Remember, no matter what strange things happen in the coming days, don’t act rashly. Give me your left hand!”

Liu Dashao extended his left hand, and Second Master Huang stood up, grabbed his finger, and suddenly bit him. Liu Dashao yelped in pain and pulled his hand back. Second Master Huang said, “I’ve marked you with my blood. If you’re in danger, I’ll be there immediately.”

Liu Dashao looked at his hand and saw the spot where Second Master Huang had bitten him now resembled a small flower imprinted on his skin.

“Don’t worry, Second Master Huang, I’ve already mastered the Qimen secrets. I’ll be fine!” Liu Dashao replied with a grin.

Second Master Huang sighed and said, “Remember, be cautious in all things. Recently, I’ve sensed a strong resentment reappearing in the village. Be very careful!”

After saying this, Second Master Huang returned to his tree hollow, and Liu Dashao left the small woods.

On his way back, Liu Dashao noticed that the atmosphere was unusually calm, which was strange. Even when he passed the cemetery on the west side of the village, he felt nothing out of the ordinary, which only made it more unsettling.

As Liu Dashao walked a few more steps, he suddenly saw a figure standing on a dirt slope ahead. He crouched down and quietly approached the person.

Liu Dashao felt that the person looked familiar, but he couldn’t quite place who it was. As he got closer, he saw that it was a woman with a delicate yet sickly appearance. Liu Dashao nearly gasped in shock.

Wasn’t that the youngest daughter of Old Lady Li? Wasn’t she bedridden? Liu Dashao was puzzled. Her expression seemed off, and when he opened his “yin eyes” to look at her, he saw that she had no life force at all—her entire body was enveloped in dark energy.

This was the most yin-heavy person Liu Dashao had ever seen. Sensing danger, he prepared to sneak back home. But just then, the woman’s neck suddenly twisted, and she turned to look directly at Liu Dashao.

Liu Dashao was startled by her sudden movement and quickly stepped back, ready to cast a spell. But before he could even form the hand seal, a gust of wind rushed toward him. The woman swayed and then lunged at Liu Dashao, striking him with a palm that sent him tumbling to the ground. The woman spoke in a man’s voice, “Kid, you’ve got some skills!”

Liu Dashao was pushed far back, rolling several times on the ground, feeling the pain of the fall.

He was furious but knew this woman was no ordinary foe, so he held back his anger.

He got up and angrily shouted at the woman, “You, an adult, bullying a child!”

After saying this, Liu Dashao pretended to sulk while secretly thinking of a plan.

The woman ignored Liu Dashao and instead began inhaling and exhaling toward the sky.

Liu Dashao wiped his forehead with his hand and opened his yin-yang eyes to observe. He saw the woman exhaling black energy and then inhaling the moonlight. It seemed she was some kind of evil spirit.

But Liu Dashao couldn’t detect any evil energy from her, yet she had no life force either. It seemed as though an evil entity had possessed her, but his yin-yang eyes couldn’t see it. What was going on?

Just as Liu Dashao was pondering this, the woman suddenly spoke.

In a deep, male voice, she said, “Stop looking at me with those yin-yang eyes of yours. And next time you use ‘yin escape’ to leave your body and ruin my plans, don’t blame me for taking you down! Now get lost!”

Liu Dashao was shocked. These words alone revealed how terrifying the woman before him truly was. Remembering Second Master Huang’s warning, Liu Dashao pretended to be scared and ran home crying.

When he got home, Liu Dashao quietly opened the door and slipped into his room. Dog Dan was sound asleep.

Liu Dashao took off his shoes and lay down, staring at the ceiling, his mind in turmoil. He thought about the woman and realized he could only wait until tomorrow to discuss it with Second Master Huang. He pulled up the blanket and fell asleep.

The next morning, Liu Dashao woke up late. He turned his head and saw that Dog Dan had already gotten up and was sitting by the kang, reading the book “Taiyi Tiangang.” He had been reading it every day lately, but Liu Dashao wasn’t sure how much he actually understood.

Liu Dashao sat up on the kang and rubbed his shoulder, wincing in pain. The fall from last night had really hurt.

Seeing Liu Dashao awake, Dog Dan asked without looking up, “Dashao, where did you go last night?”

Without thinking, Liu Dashao replied, “Where else? I went to pee.”

After saying this, Dog Dan leaned in with a mysterious expression and said, “You can’t fool me. I can tell.”

Liu Dashao was amused by Dog Dan’s feigned mystery.

He patted Dog Dan and said, “I know you know, so I didn’t tell you, haha!”

Both of them burst into laughter.

By noon, Liu Dashao headed to the small woods. When he passed the spot where he had seen the woman the night before, he stopped to look around but found nothing unusual. Just as he was about to leave, he heard a sigh nearby.

Liu Dashao looked around but saw no one. He checked the ground but found no animals either. Who was sighing?

“Sigh…” Just as Liu Dashao was wondering, the sighing sound came again. Liu Dashao called out to the air, “Who’s sighing? Show yourself!”

After saying this, Liu Dashao looked around and finally saw an old woman sitting under a large willow tree.

Liu Dashao knew she had manifested herself, likely because she needed help.

He walked over and sat beside the old woman, saying, “Granny, why are you sitting here? Is there something troubling you? Tell me about it!”

The old woman looked up at Liu Dashao and said, “Child, I am a small immortal who cultivated from this willow tree, guarding this land and ensuring good weather. But that was only in the past.”

Liu Dashao noticed a white light flickering behind the old woman and realized she must be a spiritual being with cultivation. Seeing her troubled expression, he said, “Granny, since you are the guardian of this land, what troubles you? Please tell me. If I can help, I will!”

The old woman looked at Liu Dashao with a hint of relief and continued, “A month ago, a dead scholar came from outside the village. He was a short-lived ghost from the Shunzhi era of the Qing Dynasty, named Jiang Siwen. Since he arrived, there has been no peace here!”

Liu Dashao was puzzled. “Granny, you are an immortal. How can a dead scholar trouble you?”

The old woman sighed and after a long pause, said, “Child, I see you are no ordinary person, so I will tell you the whole story.”

She paused and then began to explain.

“Jiang Siwen was a scholar during the Qing Dynasty. He had a romantic relationship with a young lady from a wealthy family. The lady’s surname was Qin, and her name was Qin Ling. They met at a market, and Qin Ling admired Jiang Siwen’s talent. The two fell in love and spent every day together.

The Qin family did not object to their relationship, and the Zhou family, seeing Qin Ling’s virtue and beauty, fully supported the marriage. The two families began preparing for the wedding.

But as the saying goes, ‘beauty is short-lived.’ On the day of their wedding, Qin Ling suddenly coughed up blood and died. This was her fate, as her life span had already been determined in the Book of Life and Death.

Jiang Siwen couldn’t bear the pain of losing his wife. He held Qin Ling’s body and sat on the ground all night without sleeping. The next day, he carried Qin Ling’s body and left the village. That was the end of the story.”

Liu Dashao was captivated and quickly asked, “What happened next?”

The old woman continued.

“Later, Jiang Siwen placed Qin Ling’s body in an ice cellar to preserve it. He then traveled far and wide, seeking masters who could teach him the art of resurrection.

During one of his rituals, he dispersed his own physical body and died. However, he used the dark arts he had cultivated to evade the underworld’s envoys and remained in the realm between life and death, never reincarnating.

He waited in the underworld for Qin Ling to be reincarnated. Qin Ling would only be reborn as a human after ten lifetimes, which is why she is now the youngest daughter of Old Lady Li in the village, Li Zhiming.”

Liu Dashao suddenly understood. It was Jiang Siwen’s deep obsession that led him to wait for Qin Ling’s reincarnation and torment her in this life.

Liu Dashao asked, “Granny, but I noticed that Li Zhiming’s life force is very weak. Why would Jiang Siwen possess her body in the middle of the night?”

The willow immortal sighed and said, “Li Zhiming is destined to have a short life. Her life force is nearly exhausted. Jiang Siwen doesn’t want to repeat the tragedy of Qin Ling’s death.

After all, he waited through dozens of reincarnations for Qin Ling to be reborn as a human. So at night, he possesses Li Zhiming’s body and comes here to absorb the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, hoping to keep her alive. But the cycle of life and death is predetermined. His actions defy the natural order and are intolerable to the heavens!”

“Granny, why don’t you all join forces to deal with him?” Liu Dashao asked.

The willow immortal shook her head and said, “Jiang Siwen has a thousand years of cultivation. How could we, mere immortals, defeat him? Moreover, he was skilled in dark arts during his lifetime. Sigh, we can only endure.”

After hearing this, Liu Dashao thought for a moment, then bid farewell to the willow immortal and ran toward the small woods.

Second Master Huang listened quietly as Liu Dashao explained the entire situation. He paced around on the ground, blinking his small eyes.

After a while, he said, “This thousand-year-old scholar is deeply obsessed and has created this calamity. If we don’t stop him, he will soon absorb all the spiritual beings with cultivation in the area.”

Liu Dashao urgently asked, “What should we do?”

Second Master Huang said, “Don’t alert him yet. We don’t have enough time today. We’ll figure out a plan tomorrow during the day. Dashao, go home and prepare some things: a handful of glutinous rice, some red paper cutouts, yellow paper, and chicken blood. Do you remember?”

Liu Dashao nodded and replied, “Second Master Huang, are we setting up a formation?”

Second Master Huang said, “You’ll find out tomorrow!”

After hearing this, Liu Dashao returned home.

Back at Dog Dan’s house, Liu Dashao took some pocket money and went with Dog Dan to buy the items. But where could they find chicken blood?

After buying the items, Liu Dashao asked Dog Dan where they could get chicken blood. Dog Dan thought for a moment and said, “We have some at home. My dad is cooking chicken for us today.”

Liu Dashao happily pulled him toward home.

As they ran, Dog Dan complained, “Hey! It’s just chicken! Don’t run so fast! I’ll give you the chicken comb, okay? Slow down!”

When they got home, they saw Dog Dan’s father killing a chicken in the yard.

Liu Dashao went over and said, “Uncle Big Dog, can you save some chicken blood for me? I want to use it for drawing talismans for my master!”

Dog Dan’s father immediately agreed, and Liu Dashao and Dog Dan went back inside.

After a while, Dog Dan’s father came in with a blood-stained bottle and said, “Dashao, here’s the chicken blood. But your master won’t be back for a while. Won’t the blood coagulate?”

Liu Dashao smiled and replied, “Oh, it’s fine. He uses it like this, hehe!”

Dog Dan’s father was confused but didn’t say anything, just wiped his hands and left.

After Dog Dan’s father left, Liu Dashao said to Dog Dan, “Dog Dan, I can’t play with you tomorrow. If I’m not back by night, stuff the pillow under the blanket. If my parents come to check on us, just tell them I’m asleep, okay?”

Dog Dan looked at Liu Dashao suspiciously, thought for a moment, and said, “Okay, but where are you going?”

Liu Dashao couldn’t tell him about his plans with Second Master Huang, so he said, “Oh, it’s nothing. Qian Qing invited me to his house for dinner. It’s no big deal. He didn’t invite you, probably because you didn’t help much last time, hehe!”

After saying this, Liu Dashao saw Dog Dan’s disappointed expression and said, “Okay, I’ll stay home.”

Seeing Dog Dan like this, Liu Dashao felt bad.

He thought, “I’ll have to find a chance to explain all this to him later. I just hope he can handle it.”

That night, Liu Dashao fell asleep early but had a strange dream. In the dream, a pair of blood-red eyes kept staring at him, startling him awake.

When he sat up, he saw that the sky was already beginning to lighten. Liu Dashao got ready, gathered his things, and left the house.

When he arrived at the small woods, he saw Second Master Huang waiting for him by the tree hollow.

Seeing Liu Dashao, Second Master Huang said, “We’re going to Li Zhiming’s house in a moment!”

Liu Dashao was shocked and said, “Isn’t that suicide? Last time, she almost killed me!”

Second Master Huang calmly took a few steps, his small eyes glancing at Liu Dashao. He said, “Don’t worry, it’s broad daylight. Even if Jiang Siwen dares to appear, he won’t be able to harm us. We’re just going to provoke him so he comes after us tonight!”

Liu Dashao thought about it and agreed. “But… Second Master Huang, how will you get in?” Liu Dashao asked.

“Don’t worry, I’ll just hide in your clothes!”

With that, Second Master Huang quickly climbed up Liu Dashao’s leg and nestled into his clothes, peeking his head out.

Liu Dashao chuckled and said, “Alright, let’s go find that thousand-year-old scholar, Jiang Siwen!”

Liu Dashao, with Second Master Huang hidden in his clothes, arrived at Li Zhiming’s house. He opened his yin-yang eyes to look at the house.

The house was enveloped in dark energy, making it impossible to see inside.

Second Master Huang jumped out of Liu Dashao’s clothes and said, “Cast a spell to provoke him and make him appear!”

After saying this, Second Master Huang quickly hid in the nearby grass.

Liu Dashao sat on the ground, formed a hand seal, and prepared to use the Five Elements Water Technique, as he noticed a small river in front of Li Zhiming’s house.

“Yin and yang, water and fire, pour out the three rivers, strike!” Liu Dashao chanted, then pointed his fingers toward the door.

The water in the river suddenly boiled, and a spray of water flew out, crashing into the door covered in dark energy.

The water seemed to merge into the door, and the dark energy was momentarily dispersed.

Just as Liu Dashao was about to stand up, the dark energy quickly surged back, sealing the gap.

It seemed Jiang Siwen knew Liu Dashao was casting a spell and was countering it from inside.

Liu Dashao secretly activated his hand seal, took a step back, pressed his left thumb into his right palm, and chanted, “Eight Trigrams, Heavenly Stems, divine and hidden, water and fire, calm and swift, disperse the evil, shift the soul, capture!”

With that, he pointed his right hand at the door, and the dark energy was instantly scattered.

“Now you know my power, after bullying me last time!” Liu Dashao stood up, satisfied, as Second Master Huang jumped out of the grass and climbed onto him.

Liu Dashao, with Second Master Huang in his clothes, took a few steps when he heard a voice behind him.

“Hmph, that Qimen Dunjia is somewhat impressive!”

Liu Dashao was startled and quickly turned around.

The door had transformed into a giant face, speaking directly to Liu Dashao.

Second Master Huang peeked out and said, “Ignore him. Let’s head to the back mountain.”

Liu Dashao nodded and ran toward the back mountain, ignoring the giant face’s maniacal laughter behind him.

Even though it was midday, the sky was heavily overcast, as if a storm was brewing.

“This must be Jiang Siwen’s doing. He’s making the sky darken quickly so he can appear. It seems we’ve truly angered him!” Second Master Huang said from within Liu Dashao’s clothes.

Liu Dashao, with Second Master Huang in his clothes, arrived at the back mountain and stood on the slope.

“Kid, set up a soul-summoning array around the slope to summon Li Zhiming’s soul. I think Jiang Siwen is about to appear. I’ll go to the back mountain to set up a formation and wait for him. Once he enters the soul-summoning array, lead him to the back mountain. Don’t panic!” Second Master Huang said, then quickly ran toward the back of the slope.

Liu Dashao knew time was of the essence. Jiang Siwen had easily seen through his Qimen secret arts earlier and now had caused the sky to change dramatically. It was clear that Jiang Siwen would be a formidable opponent.

Liu Dashao took out the prepared paper cutouts from his bag, wrote “Li Zhiming” on each one, and buried them around the slope at intervals.

Liu Dashao was sweating profusely as he worked, and the sky grew darker, as if it were about to collapse.

Just then, he heard an old woman’s voice calling him, “Child! Be careful, the scholar is coming!”

Liu Dashao turned around and saw the willow immortal.

He quickly looked around and saw a red figure walking up the slope.

The figure was dressed in what looked like an official’s red robe, wearing a black hat. From a distance, it was hard to see the person’s face.

Liu Dashao was nervous. This must be the Qing Dynasty scholar, Jiang Siwen.

Liu Dashao hurriedly buried the last paper cutout, thinking of ways to stall for time until Second Master Huang was ready to lead Jiang Siwen to the back mountain.

Liu Dashao’s palms were sweaty, and he had never been so nervous. Jiang Siwen was now only a dozen steps away.

He had a pale, handsome face, giving the impression of fragility.

Liu Dashao closed his eyes and sat cross-legged on the ground.

Jiang Siwen stepped into the array, and Liu Dashao felt a surge of joy.

“Hmph, you think a simple array can capture me? A soul-summoning array? Haha! You’re just a naive child!” Jiang Siwen’s words made Liu Dashao’s heart sink. The array had been seen through. Did they have any chance of winning?

Just as he was thinking this, Liu Dashao felt a sudden pressure. He looked up and saw Jiang Siwen’s palm pass through his body.

Liu Dashao was deeply shocked. Those few words alone were enough to show how terrifying this woman truly was. Remembering Master Huang’s warning, Liu Dashao pretended to be frightened and ran home crying.

When he got home, Liu Dashao quietly opened the door and sneaked into the room. Goudan was fast asleep.

Liu Dashao took off his shoes, lay down on the kang bed, stared at the ceiling, and thought about the strange woman he had just encountered. His mind was in turmoil. He decided he’d have to tell Master Huang everything the next day. Then he pulled the quilt over himself and fell asleep.

He woke up late the next morning and turned to see that Goudan had already gotten up and was sitting by the kang, reading *The Taiyi Tian Gang Sutra*. He had been reading this book every day recently, but Liu Dashao didn’t know how much he actually understood.

Seeing Liu Dashao sit up, Goudan asked without looking up, “Where did you go last night, Dashao?”

Without thinking, Liu Dashao replied, “Where else? Just went out to pee.”

Goudan gave him a mysterious look and whispered, “You can’t fool me. I can calculate things.”

Liu Dashao was amused by Goudan’s act of being secretive.

He patted Goudan on the head and said, “I know you know, that’s why I didn’t tell you, ha ha!”

Then both of them burst into laughter.

At noon, Liu Dashao went back to the grove. As he passed the place where he had seen the woman the previous night, he paused and looked around, but saw nothing unusual. Just as he was about to leave, he heard a sigh from around him.

Liu Dashao looked around, but saw no one. There were no animals on the ground either. Who had sighed?

“Ahh…” As Liu Dashao was thinking, another sigh sounded. He turned toward the empty space and shouted, “Who’s sighing? Show yourself!”

Looking around, Liu Dashao indeed saw an old woman sitting under a large willow tree nearby.

Liu Dashao knew she must have taken form deliberately, probably needing help.

He walked over and sat beside the old woman, asking, “Grandma, why are you sitting here? If you have any trouble, tell me about it!”

The old woman looked up at Liu Dashao and said, “Child, I am a small immortal who cultivated from this willow tree, guarding this land and ensuring peace and prosperity. But that was only in the past.”

Liu Dashao saw a white glow behind the old woman, confirming she was a spiritual being with cultivation. Seeing her look so distressed, he asked, “Since you are a guardian deity of this land, what troubles you so deeply? Please tell me—I will help if I can!”

The old woman looked at Liu Dashao with a touch of relief and continued, “A month ago, a dead scholar from the Qing Dynasty—Jiang Siwen, who died during the Shunzhi reign—came here, and since then, peace has vanished from this place!”

Liu Dashao asked in confusion, “Grandma, you are a local immortal. What threat could a dead scholar pose?”

The old woman sighed and finally said, “Child, I see you are no ordinary person, so I will tell you the whole story.”

She paused and began her tale.

“Originally, Jiang Siwen was a scholar in the Qing Dynasty. He fell in love with the eldest daughter of a wealthy family. Her name was Qin Ling. They met at a market, and she admired his talent. They were deeply in love.

Her family did not oppose the match, and the Jiang family was delighted with Qin Ling’s beauty and virtue. So both families began preparing their wedding.

But as the saying goes, beauty is often short-lived.

On the day of their wedding, Qin Ling suddenly coughed up blood and died. It was fate—her time had come.

Jiang Siwen couldn’t bear the grief. He held her body all night without sleeping. The next day, he carried her away from the village. That’s what happened afterward.”

Liu Dashao was captivated and quickly asked what happened next.

The old woman continued, “Later, Jiang Siwen placed Qin Ling’s body in an ice cellar to prevent decay, then traveled far and wide to learn from masters in hopes of discovering a way to resurrect the dead.

Eventually, during a ritual, he shattered his own physical body and died. But through his dark techniques, he evaded the underworld’s messengers and remained in the space between life and death, never reincarnating.

He waited bitterly in the netherworld for Qin Ling’s rebirth. It took ten lifetimes for her to be reborn as a human again—this time as Li Zhi, the youngest daughter of Old Lady Li in the village.”

Liu Dashao suddenly understood. It was Jiang Siwen’s deep obsession that had brought him to this life, clinging desperately to Qin Ling’s reincarnation.

Still puzzled, Liu Dashao asked, “Grandma, but I saw that Li Zhi’s life force is very weak. Why does Jiang Siwen possess her at night?”

The willow spirit replied slowly, “Li Zhi is fated to die young in this life. Her time is nearly up. Jiang Siwen doesn’t want to repeat the tragedy of the past.

After waiting through dozens of lifetimes, he finally found her reborn. So every night, he possesses Li Zhi and comes here to absorb the essence of heaven and earth, hoping to keep her alive. Because of this, many spiritual beings around here have already had their energy drained. But life and death are predestined. His defiance of the natural order of yin and yang is a grave offense to heaven!”

“Why don’t you all band together to stop him?” Liu Dashao asked in confusion.

The willow spirit shook her head and said, “Jiang Siwen has a thousand years of cultivation. We minor immortals can’t possibly defeat him. Plus, he was skilled in dark arts even in life. Sigh… we can only endure.”

After listening, Liu Dashao thought for a moment, then bid farewell to the willow spirit and ran back to the grove.

Master Huang listened quietly as Liu Dashao explained everything, pacing back and forth on the ground, blinking his small eyes.

After a long pause, he finally said, “This thousand-year-old scholar is trapped by his obsession, creating this calamity. If we don’t stop him soon, he’ll drain all nearby spiritual beings in a few days.”

Liu Dashao hurriedly asked, “What should we do?”

Master Huang replied, “Don’t act rashly yet. We don’t have enough time today. Let’s plan tomorrow during daylight. Dashao, go home and prepare some things: a handful of glutinous rice, some red paper figures, yellow talisman paper, and chicken blood. Remember them well?”

Liu Dashao nodded and asked, “Master Huang, are you going to set up a formation?”

Master Huang said, “You’ll know tomorrow!”

After that, Liu Dashao returned home.

Back at Goudan’s house, Liu Dashao took some pocket money and went with Goudan to buy the items. But where would they get chicken blood?

After shopping, Liu Dashao asked Goudan where to find chicken blood. Goudan thought for a moment and said, “My dad is making chicken for us today. We can get it from there.”

Delighted, Liu Dashao grabbed Goudan and ran home.

Behind him, Goudan gasped as he was dragged along, “Hey! It’s just chicken! Slow down! I’ll give you the comb, okay?… Slow down…!”

When they arrived, they saw Goudan’s father slaughtering a chicken in the yard.

Liu Dashao approached and said, “Uncle Dagou, can I keep the chicken blood? I need it for talismans for my master!”

Uncle Dagou immediately agreed, and Liu Dashao and Goudan went back inside.

A while later, Dagou brought in a blood-stained bottle and said, “Dashao, here’s the chicken blood. But your master won’t be back for a while. Won’t it coagulate by then?”

Liu Dashao smiled and replied, “No problem. He specifically uses it like this, hehe!”

Dagou was confused but said nothing and left after wiping his hands.

After Dagou left, Liu Dashao turned to Goudan and said, “Goudan, I can’t play with you tomorrow. If I’m not back by tonight, stuff a pillow under the quilt to pretend I’m sleeping. If my parents come to check on us, just say I’m asleep, okay?”

Goudan looked puzzled but nodded, “Okay, but where are you going?”

Liu Dashao couldn’t tell him he was meeting Master Huang, so he said, “Nothing much. Qian Qing invited me to dinner. Don’t worry, he didn’t say to bring you. Maybe he thought you didn’t help much last time, hehe!”

Seeing Goudan’s expression darken, Liu Dashao felt a pang of guilt.

Sighing, he thought he’d tell Goudan later when the time was right—but he feared Goudan might not be able to accept it.

That night, Liu Dashao fell asleep early but had a strange dream. In it, a pair of blood-red eyes kept staring at him, waking him in terror.

He sat up and looked outside. It was just beginning to get light. Liu Dashao quickly got up, gathered his things, and left.

At the grove, he saw Master Huang already waiting by the tree hollow.

Seeing Liu Dashao arrive, Master Huang said, “We’re going to Li Zhi’s house!”

Liu Dashao was startled and said, “Aren’t we walking into danger? Last time I nearly got killed by her!”

Master Huang calmly took a few steps.

With his small eyes fixed on Liu Dashao, he said, “Don’t worry. It’s daylight. Even if Jiang Siwen dares to show himself, he won’t dare attack us directly. We’re just going to provoke him so he comes after us tonight!”

Liu Dashao thought it made sense and asked, “Then… how will you get inside?”

“Nothing to it. I’ll just hide in your arms!”

With that, Master Huang slid up Liu Dashao’s leg and nestled into his chest, leaving only his little head peeking out.

Amused, Liu Dashao said, “Alright then. Let’s go find that thousand-year-old scholar, Jiang Siwen!”

With Master Huang hidden in his arms, Liu Dashao approached Li Zhi’s house. He activated his Yin-Yang vision and saw the house completely shrouded in black qi, making it impossible to see inside.

Master Huang jumped out from Liu Dashao’s arms and said, “Use your magic to provoke him and make him appear!”

Then he quickly hid in the nearby bushes.

Liu Dashao sat down, formed a seal, and prepared to use the Water Element technique. He saw a small river in front of Li Zhi’s house.

“Yin and Yang, water and fire, pour forth the waters of the three rivers—strike!” Liu Dashao chanted, clenching his fingers and waving his hand toward the door.

Suddenly, the river water boiled and a surge of water flew out, crashing toward the black qi-covered door like a tidal wave.

The water seemed to melt into the door, creating a small opening in the dark aura.

Just as Liu Dashao was about to stand up, the black qi surged again, sealing the gap.

Jiang Siwen must have sensed the attack and was countering from within.

Liu Dashao addressed Second Master Huang, “Second Master, I’m here, and I’ve finished reading that book!”

Second Master Huang glanced at Liu Dashao with his dull little eyes and asked, “Have you mastered all those techniques?”

Liu Dashao chuckled, “I’ve memorized them all, haha!”

Seeing Liu Dashao’s lack of seriousness, Second Master Huang said, “I taught you the secret arts of Qimen so you could protect yourself and divine fortunes. Did you not foresee your own fate these past few days?”

At this, Liu Dashao realized that the Qimen arts couldn’t be used to predict the practitioner’s own destiny. He hurriedly asked Second Master Huang, “Am I facing some obstacle recently?”

Second Master Huang replied, “It’s not that your fate is obstructed, but you are about to encounter a significant challenge. Remember, no matter what strange things happen these days, don’t act on your own. Give me your left hand!”

Liu Dashao extended his left hand, and Second Master Huang stood up, grabbed his finger, and suddenly bit him. Liu Dashao recoiled in pain, and Second Master Huang said, “I’ve marked you with my blood. If you’re in danger, I’ll be there immediately!”

Liu Dashao looked at his hand and saw the bite mark had formed a small flower-like imprint on the back of his hand.

“Don’t worry, Second Master Huang, I’ve already mastered the Qimen secrets. I’ll be fine!” Liu Dashao replied with a grin.

Second Master Huang sighed, “Remember, be cautious in all things. Recently, I’ve sensed a strong malevolent presence reappearing in the village. Be very careful!”

After saying this, Second Master Huang returned to his tree hollow, and Liu Dashao left the grove.

On his way back, Liu Dashao felt an unusual absence of any sinister aura. Even when passing the cemetery west of the village, he sensed nothing amiss, which was itself abnormal.

After walking a few more steps, Liu Dashao suddenly saw a figure standing on a dirt mound ahead. He quietly crouched and approached the person.

Liu Dashao felt the person looked familiar but couldn’t place who it was. As he got closer, he saw it was a woman, delicate and sickly. Liu Dashao nearly gasped—it was the youngest daughter of Old Lady Li! Wasn’t she bedridden? Her expression was off, and when Liu Dashao opened his Yin eyes to look at her, she had no life force at all, surrounded by dark energy.

This was the most Yin-heavy person Liu Dashao had ever seen. Sensing danger, he prepared to sneak home when the woman suddenly turned her neck sharply to look at him.

Startled, Liu Dashao stepped back, ready to cast a spell, but before he could form the hand seal, a gust of wind hit him, and the woman lunged forward, striking him with a palm that sent him tumbling to the ground. The woman spoke in a man’s voice, “Kid, you’ve got some skills!”

Liu Dashao was pushed far, rolling several times on the ground, feeling the pain of the fall.

Angry but aware that this woman was no ordinary foe, he restrained his temper.

He got up and angrily said to the woman, “You, an adult, bullying a child!”

Pretending to sulk, Liu Dashao thought of a strategy.

The woman ignored him, instead inhaling and exhaling towards the sky.

Liu Dashao wiped his brow and opened his Yin-Yang eyes to see the woman exhaling dark energy and inhaling moonlight. She must be a demonic entity.

Yet, Liu Dashao couldn’t detect any evil aura on her, but she lacked the vitality of a living person. It seemed a malevolent spirit had possessed her, but his Yin-Yang eyes couldn’t see it. What was going on?

As Liu Dashao puzzled over this, the woman suddenly spoke.

In a deep male voice, she said, “Don’t look at me with those Yin-Yang eyes. And next time you use ‘Yin Escape’ to astral project and ruin my plans, I won’t spare you! Now, scram!”

Liu Dashao was shocked. These words revealed how terrifying the woman before him was. Remembering Second Master Huang’s warning, Liu Dashao pretended to be scared and ran home crying.

Back home, Liu Dashao quietly opened the door and slipped into his room, where Gou Dan was sound asleep.

Liu Dashao took off his shoes and lay down, staring at the ceiling, his mind in turmoil over the woman. He decided to wait until tomorrow to tell Second Master Huang and fell asleep under the covers.

He woke up late the next morning and saw Gou Dan already up, reading the book “Taiyi Tiangang” by the kang. Gou Dan had been reading it every day, but Liu Dashao wasn’t sure how much he understood.

Liu Dashao sat up on the kang, touching his shoulder, which ached from the fall the previous night.

Seeing Liu Dashao awake, Gou Dan asked without looking up, “Where did you go last night, Dashao?”

Without thinking, Liu Dashao replied, “Where else? Just went to pee.”

Gou Dan leaned in mysteriously and said, “You can’t fool me. I can divine things.”

Liu Dashao was amused by Gou Dan’s feigned mystery.

He patted Gou Dan and said, “I know you know, so I didn’t tell you, haha!”

Both of them burst into laughter.

At noon, Liu Dashao went to the grove. Passing the spot where he had seen the woman the previous night, he stopped to look around but found nothing unusual. Just as he was about to leave, he heard a sigh.

Liu Dashao looked around but saw no one.

Looking at the ground, there were no animals either. Who was sighing?

“Sigh…” As Liu Dashao wondered, the sigh sounded again. He called out to the air, “Who’s sighing? Show yourself!”

After speaking, Liu Dashao looked around and saw an old woman sitting under a large willow tree.

Liu Dashao knew she had manifested, likely needing his help.

He walked over and sat beside the old woman, saying, “Granny, what are you doing here? What troubles you? Tell me.”

The old woman looked up at Liu Dashao and said, “Child, I am a minor deity formed from this willow tree, guarding this land, ensuring good weather and harvests. But that was in the past.”

Liu Dashao noticed a white light behind the old woman, realizing she was a spiritual being with cultivation. Seeing her troubled expression, he said, “Granny, since you are a deity guarding this land, what troubles you? Please tell me, and I’ll help if I can!”

The old woman looked at Liu Dashao with gratitude and continued, “A month ago, a dead scholar named Jiang Siwen, who died during the Shunzhi era of the Qing dynasty, came from outside the village. Since his arrival, we’ve had no peace!”

Liu Dashao asked, “Granny, you are a deity. How can a dead scholar trouble you?”

The old woman sighed and said after a long pause, “Child, I see you are no ordinary person, so I’ll tell you the whole story.”

She paused and began to narrate.

“Jiang Siwen was a scholar during the Qing dynasty. He had a romantic relationship with a young lady from a wealthy family named Qin Ling. They met at a market, and Qin Ling admired Jiang Siwen’s talent. They fell in love and spent every day together.

The Qin family didn’t oppose the relationship, and the Zhou family, seeing Qin Ling’s virtue and beauty, fully supported the marriage. Thus, both families began preparing for the wedding.

But as they say, beauty is often short-lived.

On the day of their wedding, Qin Ling suddenly coughed up blood and died. This was her fate, as her life span had ended according to the Book of Life and Death.

Jiang Siwen couldn’t bear the pain of losing his wife. He held Qin Ling’s body and sat on the ground all night without sleeping. The next day, he carried Qin Ling away from the village, and that’s another story.”

Liu Dashao was captivated and eagerly asked what happened next.

The old woman continued, “Jiang Siwen placed Qin Ling’s body in an ice cellar to preserve it. Then he traveled far and wide, seeking masters who could teach him the art of resurrection.

During one of his rituals, he dispersed his own physical body and died. But using the dark arts he had cultivated, he evaded the underworld’s envoys and remained in the liminal space between life and death, never reincarnating.

He waited in the underworld for Qin Ling to reincarnate. Qin Ling would only be reborn as a human after ten lifetimes, which is why she is now the youngest daughter of Old Lady Li in the village, Li Zhiming.”

Liu Dashao suddenly understood. Jiang Siwen’s deep obsession had led him to wait for Qin Ling’s reincarnation and now he was tormenting her.

Liu Dashao asked, puzzled, “Granny, but I saw that Li Zhi’s life force is very weak. Why would Jiang Siwen possess her body in the middle of the night?”

The willow deity slowly explained, “Li Zhi is fated to have a short life. Her time is nearly up. Jiang Siwen doesn’t want to repeat the tragedy of Qin Ling.

After all, he waited through dozens of reincarnations for Qin Ling to be reborn as a human. So at night, he possesses Li Zhi’s body and comes here to absorb the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, hoping to keep her alive. But now, all the spiritual beings with cultivation in this area have been drained by him. However, the cycle of life and death is predestined. His actions defy the natural order and are intolerable to the heavens!”

“Granny, can’t you all join forces to deal with him?” Liu Dashao asked, puzzled.

The willow deity shook her head, “Jiang Siwen has a thousand years of cultivation. How could minor deities like us contend with him? Moreover, he was skilled in dark arts during his lifetime. Sigh, we can only endure.”

After hearing this, Liu Dashao thought for a moment, then bid farewell to the willow deity and ran back to the grove.

Second Master Huang listened quietly as Liu Dashao explained the entire situation. He paced in circles on the ground, blinking his small eyes.

After a while, he said, “This thousand-year scholar is too deeply consumed by his obsession, leading to the current calamity. If we don’t stop him, he’ll likely drain all the spiritual beings with cultivation nearby in a few days.”

Liu Dashao urgently asked, “What should we do?”

Second Master Huang said, “Don’t alert him yet. We probably don’t have enough time today. Let’s think of a plan tomorrow during the day. Dashao, go home and prepare some things: a handful of glutinous rice, some red paper cutouts of human figures, yellow paper, and chicken blood. Can you remember that?”

Liu Dashao nodded, “Second Master Huang, are we setting up a formation?”

Second Master Huang replied, “You’ll find out tomorrow!”

After hearing this, Liu Dashao returned home.

Back at Gou Dan’s house, Liu Dashao took some pocket money and went with Gou Dan to buy the items. But where could they find chicken blood?

After buying the items, Liu Dashao asked Gou Dan where they could get chicken blood. Gou Dan thought for a moment and said, “We have some at home. My dad is stewing a chicken for us today.”

Hearing this, Liu Dashao happily pulled him back home.

As they ran, Gou Dan, being dragged by Liu Dashao, said, “Hey! It’s just chicken! Don’t run so fast, I’m exhausted! I’ll give you the chicken crown, okay? Slow down!”

When they got home, they saw Gou Dan’s father killing a chicken in the yard.

Liu Dashao went over and said, “Uncle Dagou, can you save some chicken blood for me? I want to keep it for my master to draw talismans!”

Gou Dan’s father immediately agreed, and Liu Dashao and Gou Dan went back inside.

After a while, Gou Dan’s father came in with a blood-stained bottle and said, “Dashao, I’ve saved the chicken blood for you. But your master won’t be back for a while. Won’t the blood coagulate?”

Liu Dashao smiled and replied, “Oh, it’s fine. He uses coagulated chicken blood, hehe!”

Gou Dan’s father was confused but didn’t press further, simply wiping his hands and leaving.

After he left, Liu Dashao said to Gou Dan, “Gou Dan, I can’t play with you tomorrow. If I’m not back by night, stuff the pillow under the blanket. If my parents come to check on us, tell them I’m asleep, okay?”

Gou Dan looked at Liu Dashao suspiciously, thought for a moment, and said, “Alright, but where are you going?”

Liu Dashao couldn’t tell him about meeting Second Master Huang, so he said, “Oh, it’s nothing. Qian Qing invited me to his house for dinner. It’s no big deal. He didn’t invite you, probably because you didn’t help much last time, hehe!”

After saying this, Liu Dashao saw Gou Dan’s sullen expression and said, “Alright, I’ll watch the house.”

Seeing Gou Dan’s expression, Liu Dashao felt bad.

He sighed, thinking he’d have to find a chance to explain everything to him, but he was afraid Gou Dan might not be able to handle it.

That night, Liu Dashao fell asleep early but had a strange dream. In the dream, a pair of blood-red eyes kept staring at him, startling him awake.

When he sat up, it was already dawn. Liu Dashao packed up, took the items, and left the house.

When he arrived at the grove, Second Master Huang was already waiting by the tree hollow.

Seeing Liu Dashao, he said, “We’re going to Li Zhi’s house later!”

Liu Dashao was shocked, “Isn’t that asking for trouble? Last time, she almost killed me!”

Second Master Huang, unhurried, took a few steps.

He glanced at Liu Dashao with his small eyes and said, “Don’t worry, it’s broad daylight. Even if Jiang Siwen dares to appear, he won’t dare do anything to us. We’re just going to provoke him so he comes after us tonight!”

After hearing this, Liu Dashao felt reassured. “But… Second Master Huang, how will you get in?” Liu Dashao asked, puzzled.

“Simple, I’ll just hide in your arms!”

With that, Second Master Huang scurried up Liu Dashao’s leg and nestled into his arms, peeking his little head out.

Liu Dashao chuckled, “Alright, let’s go find that thousand-year scholar, Jiang Siwen!”

With Second Master Huang in his arms, Liu Dashao arrived at Li Zhi’s house. He opened his Yin-Yang eyes to look at the house.

The house was enveloped in dark energy, making it impossible to see inside.

Second Master Huang jumped out of Liu Dashao’s arms and said, “Cast a spell to provoke him and make him appear!”

After saying this, Second Master Huang darted into the nearby bushes.

Liu Dashao sat on the ground, formed a hand seal, and prepared to use the Five Elements Water Technique, as he noticed a small river in front of Li Zhi’s house.

“Yin-Yang water and fire, pour out the three rivers, strike!” Liu Dashao chanted, clasping his fingers and waving towards the door.

The water in the river suddenly boiled, and a spray of water flew out, crashing into the door shrouded in dark energy.

The water seemed to merge into the door, creating a gap in the dark energy.

Just as Liu Dashao was about to stand up, the dark energy quickly surged back, sealing the gap.

It seemed Jiang Siwen knew Liu Dashao was casting a spell and was countering it from inside.

Liu Dashao silently activated the hand seal, stepped back, pressed his left thumb into his right palm, and chanted, “Eight Trigrams and Heavenly Stems, divine mechanisms and ghostly concealments, Kan, Zhen, Li, and Ming, swiftly subdue the stars, turn the evil spirits, shift the soul and escape the form, capture!”

With that, he pointed at the door with his right hand, and the dark energy was instantly dispersed.

“Take that for bullying me the other day. Now you know my power!” Liu Dashao stood up, satisfied, as Second Master Huang jumped out of the bushes and climbed onto him.

Liu Dashao, carrying Second Master Huang, had only taken a few steps when he heard a voice behind him.

“Hmph, that Qimen Dunjia is somewhat impressive!”

Liu Dashao was startled and quickly turned around.

The door had transformed into a giant face, speaking to Liu Dashao.

Second Master Huang peeked out and said, “Ignore him, let’s head to the back mountain.”

Liu Dashao, hearing this, turned and ran towards the back mountain, ignoring the giant face’s maniacal laughter behind him.

Though it was midday, the sky was heavily overcast, as if a storm was brewing.

“This must be Jiang Siwen’s doing. He’s making the sky darken quickly so he can appear. It seems we’ve indeed angered him!” Second Master Huang said from Liu Dashao’s arms.

Liu Dashao, carrying Second Master Huang, arrived at the back mountain and stood on the hillside.

“Kid, set up a Soul Summoning Formation around the hillside to summon Li Zhiming’s soul. I think Jiang Siwen is about to appear. I’ll go to the back mountain to set up a formation and wait for him. Once he enters the Soul Summoning Formation, lead him to the back mountain. Don’t panic!” Second Master Huang said, then darted off towards the back of the mountain.

Liu Dashao, hearing this, knew time was of the essence. Jiang Siwen had instantly seen through the Qimen secret technique Liu Dashao used earlier and now was altering the sky. It was clear Jiang Siwen would be a formidable opponent.

Liu Dashao took out the prepared paper cutouts from his bag, wrote “Li Zhiming” on each, and buried them at intervals around the hillside.

Liu Dashao was sweating profusely as he worked, and the sky grew darker, as if it were about to collapse.

Suddenly, he heard an old woman’s voice calling him, “Child! Be careful, the scholar is coming!”

Liu Dashao turned around and saw it was the willow deity.

He quickly looked around and saw a red figure walking up the hillside.

The figure was dressed in official robes, wearing a black gauze hat, but it was too far to see his face clearly.

Liu Dashao was nervous. This must be the Qing dynasty scholar, Jiang Siwen.

Liu Dashao hurriedly buried the last paper cutout, thinking of ways to stall for time until Second Master Huang was ready to lead Jiang Siwen to the back mountain.

Liu Dashao’s palms were sweaty, and he had never been so tense. Jiang Siwen was now only a dozen steps away.

His face was pale, with delicate features, giving the impression of frailty.

Liu Dashao closed his eyes and sat cross-legged on the ground.

As Jiang Siwen stepped into the formation, Liu Dashao felt a surge of triumph.

“Hmph, setting up a formation to capture me? A Soul Summoning Formation, no less! Haha! A mere child!” Hearing this, Liu Dashao’s heart sank. Jiang Siwen had seen through the formation. Did they stand no chance?

As he pondered this, he felt a sudden pressure. Looking up, he saw Jiang Siwen’s palm piercing through his body.

With a point of his right hand at the door, the black qi was instantly dispersed.

“Thought you could mess with me last time? Now you know who’s boss!” Liu Dashao stood up proudly as Master Huang emerged from the bushes and jumped back onto his shoulder.

They had only taken a few steps when a voice echoed from behind.

“Hmph, your Eight Trigrams techniques are actually somewhat impressive!”

Startled, Liu Dashao turned around quickly.

The door had transformed into a giant face, speaking directly at him.

Master Huang peeked out and said, “Don’t mind it. Let’s head to the back mountain quickly.”

Though it was midday, the sky had turned dark, clouds gathering as if a storm was imminent.

“This must be Jiang Siwen’s doing. He’s hastening the arrival of night so he can appear. We must have really angered him!” Master Huang said from inside Liu Dashao’s arms.

Liu Dashao, carrying Master Huang, arrived at the back mountain and stood on the hill.

“Little ghost, set up a soul-summoning formation around the hill for Li Zhi’s soul. I can feel Jiang Siwen is about to appear. I’ll go set up a formation at the back of the hill. When he enters the soul-summoning formation, lead him toward me. Don’t panic!” With that, Master Huang dashed behind the hill.

Liu Dashao understood the urgency. Jiang Siwen had seen through his Eight Trigrams techniques earlier and was now manipulating the weather. He was clearly a formidable opponent.

He took out the paper figures from his bag, wrote “Li Zhi” on each, and buried one every few steps around the hill.

He was sweating heavily as the sky grew darker, as if the heavens themselves were about to collapse.

Suddenly, he heard an old woman’s voice from behind, “Child, be careful! The scholar is coming!”

He turned around and saw the willow spirit grandmother.

He quickly looked around and spotted a red figure climbing the hill from below.

The figure wore red official robes and a black scholar’s hat. From a distance, Liu Dashao couldn’t see his face clearly.

Liu Dashao felt nervous. This must be Jiang Siwen, the Qing Dynasty scholar.

He hurriedly buried the last paper figure, hoping to stall for time until Master Huang was ready to lure Jiang Siwen to the back.

Sweat poured from his palms. He had never felt so nervous before.

Jiang Siwen was now only a dozen steps away. His face was pale, his features handsome, but his frail appearance gave him an eerie presence.

Liu Dashao closed his eyes and sat cross-legged on the ground.

As Jiang Siwen stepped into the formation, Liu Dashao felt a surge of hope.

“Hmph, you think a mere formation can trap me? A soul-summoning formation? Ha! You’re still just a child!” Jiang Siwen sneered.

Liu Dashao’s heart sank. If Jiang Siwen had already seen through the formation, did they have any chance at all?

As he was thinking, a heavy pressure suddenly surged toward him. He looked up and saw Jiang Siwen’s palm pierce straight through his body.
