Chapter 155: The Goddess of the Altar

The concert was held in a large stadium, where hundreds of police officers were maintaining order. Long lines stretched from each stadium entrance as people anxiously waited to get their tickets checked.

Xiao Yufan sat quietly in the VIP section, his eyes flashing with deep thoughts. No one could tell what he was thinking, but despite their brief encounter, his heart remained restless.

Thinking of her tear-filled eyes, Xiao Yufan felt his heart bleed. He believed Lin Jiayao’s gaze hadn’t lied to him. If he hadn’t misread it, the “someone special” she’d mentioned could only be himself…

Meanwhile, backstage in the lounge, Lin Jiayao was touching up her light makeup, a faint trace of sadness lingering at the corner of her lips. Even her manager, another woman, couldn’t help feeling sympathy.

She had witnessed what had just happened. Though she didn’t know the details between Lin Jiayao and Xiao Yufan, she was certain that Jiayao’s past year hadn’t been as glamorous as it seemed.

“Why didn’t you tell him the truth? Haven’t you been desperately searching for him all this time? Why hesitate now? That’s not like you.”

“A whole year has passed. If he was alive, why didn’t he come find me? And now, he already has another woman by his side. I…”

Slowly lifting her head, Lin Jiayao held back the tears threatening to fall. In her mind flashed images of Xiao Yufan and Qin Menglu being intimate, and she could almost hear her heart shattering piece by piece.

“Some things still need to be fought for. Didn’t you feel it? He still has feelings for you. So tell me, have you already chosen to give up? Ask your heart, is that really possible?”

“I don’t want him to leave. After a whole year, I’ve finally found him, and I won’t let go. I don’t know what happened during that year that made him disappear without a trace, but I know my heart has never changed!”

Unable to control her emotions any longer, Lin Jiayao threw herself into the arms of the beautiful older woman beside her. Her once-vibrant eyes dimmed, leaving only emptiness, a sight that pierced the older woman’s heart.

“If you can’t let go, then tell him. If he still carries feelings for you, that proves he’s passionate but not promiscuous. Why keep carrying all this burden alone?”

Gently patting Jiayao’s trembling shoulders as she sobbed, the older woman comforted her. She had never seen Jiayao so fragile, and few truly understood the sorrow hidden behind that voice filled with melancholy.

“Sister, let me take full control of tonight’s stage. If possible, I want to express my feelings for him through the song I wrote. Maybe then he’ll finally understand…”

After a long while, Lin Jiayao finally calmed herself. Hearing the deafening cheers from outside, she silently resolved: this time, she would never let Xiao Yufan slip away from her life again.

At exactly eight o’clock, the stadium was packed. The two-thousand-seat venue was completely full.

“Lin Jiayao! Lin Jiayao!” The cheers grew louder and louder. Suddenly, the stage lights flickered, and an energetic beat burst forth…

The crowd’s excitement reached its peak. Nearly twenty thousand people simultaneously shouted, “Lin Jiayao, we love you! We’ll always love you!”

Sitting in the VIP section, Xiao Yufan was deeply moved. He never imagined Lin Jiayao could command such a massive following. Beside him, Qin Menglu was visibly thrilled. If not in the VIP area, she would have been screaming along with the crowd.

Suddenly, smoke jets burst from around the oval stage as dancers in shimmering silver costumes rushed onto the stage. A stunning figure emerged from among them, and the audience erupted into wild applause—their blood boiling with excitement.

Each fan was shouting at the top of their lungs, “Lin Jiayao! We love you!”

Lin Jiayao stepped to the front of the oval stage, waving to the fans. The crowd grew even more frenzied, waving their glow sticks and screaming wildly.

Some overly excited fans rushed toward the stage, but police and security guards blocked them. However, the resistance proved futile as more and more fans surged forward.

“Please, everyone, go back to your seats and just listen to me sing, okay?”

Several officers and guards looked helplessly toward Lin Jiayao. Then, her melodious voice gently spread across the stadium. As if enchanted, the fans who had rushed the stage slowly returned to their seats.

The electrifying atmosphere was contagious. Qin Menglu, sitting beside Xiao Yufan, blushed with excitement, her eyes glistening with tears of joy. Although she had met Lin Jiayao before, she still couldn’t suppress her exhilaration.

The dancers took their positions. Lin Jiayao turned and walked to the center of the group, her back to the audience. The music shifted, and the stage lights pulsed rapidly with the rhythm before finally focusing on her perfect silhouette.

At the same time, the surrounding dancers began moving, and Lin Jiayao’s clear, enchanting voice, transmitted through the headset, filled the entire stadium. The fans all stood up, waving their glow sticks in sync with the music.

Walking along the edge of the oval stage, Lin Jiayao waved to the audience. Wherever her hand moved, wild cheers followed. This was her stage alone…

Her gaze continuously swept over the VIP section, searching for the figure that haunted her dreams at night, the one etched deepest in her memories. She didn’t want to be placed on a pedestal, admired from afar—after all, she was just a woman.

“Goddess, Goddess, marry me!” Just as the crowd reached a fever pitch, a voice from the VIP section rang out, immediately drawing angry glares from nearby fans.

Xiao Yufan and the others turned to look. It was a man in his mid-twenties, dressed in flashy clothes—clearly an idle, spoiled rich kid.

Qin Menglu glared at him furiously, whispering under her breath, “As if you’re worthy of marrying my idol. No one deserves her except Yufan.”

Xiao Yufan, hearing Qin Menglu’s passionate words, felt a bit stunned. On stage, Lin Jiayao also glanced in that direction. When the young man saw her looking, he waved his glow stick excitedly.

Lin Jiayao merely gave him a brief glance before shifting her gaze. Her eyes locked onto the spot beside Xiao Yufan. As she sang, she slowly made her way toward the VIP section…
