Chapter 480: She Believed

The death of Dahei deeply shocked Shui Miao.

Cats are very intelligent; there’s no way it didn’t know centipedes are poisonous.

A cat actually sacrificing itself for another cat—how tragic and how desolate.

Sighing, Shui Miao turned around, picked up the shovel, and dug a hole beside the bush where Dahei had died, burying both Dahei and Xiaohei’s bodies together.

A police car wailed to a stop, and two female officers got out.

Shui Miao turned his head and recognized them immediately—Chu Miaoyi and Lin Xue.

Seeing them, Shui Miao suddenly felt a sense of clarity wash over him. He suddenly felt certain that everything before had been real—that he had truly been sent back to this moment through the power of reversing time by the Goddess of Heaven.

Seeing them, Shui Miao smiled faintly at the two women and scooped up a patch of grass to cover the freshly buried spot.

“You, are you Shui Miao?”

Chu Miaoyi rushed straight toward him. When she saw Shui Miao, she suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

“Yes, I am. I’m really glad to see you two.”

Shui Miao put down the shovel, exhaled, and continued, “Come on, let me treat you two to some tea.”

“Tea? Why would we go have tea with you?” Lin Xue looked Shui Miao up and down, her gaze sharp and fierce.

“Miaoyi, do we know each other?” Chu Miaoyi asked curiously.

Shui Miao nodded, “It’s hard to explain. You might not even believe me, but I really do know you both—and quite well, too. Come on, standing here chatting feels a bit strange.”

“You’re making it sound so real. I’ve never even seen you before,” Lin Xue scoffed coldly. “Enough with the detours. Just say what you need to say. We don’t have time to drink tea with you. Oh right—was it you who injured Yao Ye? Show us your ID.”

“Lin Jie, he’s not a bad person. Don’t be so harsh,” Chu Miaoyi tugged gently at Lin Xue’s arm.

Lin Xue remained unconvinced, “You can’t tell who’s good or bad just by looking.”

“So, Lin Xue Jie, what would it take for you to believe me?” Shui Miao nodded, looking at Lin Xue sincerely.

Lin Xue rubbed her chin and smirked, “Since you claim to know me, why don’t you tell me something about me?”

“Hehe…” Shui Miao gave a faint smile, nodding again, “Okay. But I won’t say what everyone already knows. I’ll tell you something no one else knows. But first, let me make one thing clear—we agreed beforehand that whatever I say, you can’t hit me.”

“Fine! As long as you’re right, I won’t hit you,” Lin Xue raised her eyebrows, growing more interested in Shui Miao.

Shui Miao shook his head, “Your temper’s too bad. I know once I say it, you’ll definitely hit me. I want you to swear.”

“Oh come on! Are you really that afraid of getting hit? Are you even a real man?” Lin Xue started to get impatient.

“This has nothing to do with being a real man. It’s because I know you too well and understand your temper!” Shui Miao sighed, biting his lip as he looked at Lin Xue, “Forget it. I won’t say anything about you for now. How about I just tell you two a story instead?”

“Fine, go ahead.”

Chu Miaoyi answered quickly, afraid Lin Xue would keep arguing.

Shui Miao gestured toward a nearby bench, inviting them to sit.

After sitting down, Shui Miao calmly began, “I just woke up yesterday at noon. Before that, I had been unconscious for nearly two months, taken care of all this time by my grandpa and Chen Bing from that car. During this month and a half, I had a very long, long dream—one that no one in this world would believe. In my dream, I saw my godfather Wang Yong, I saw Yao Ye, I saw Sister Miaoyi, and you, Sister Lin Xue. You two were chasing a case involving ancient cultural relics and followed me all the way to Zhonghai City. So many things happened then. I know that Miaoyi Jie is gentle, kind-hearted, considerate, and especially caring toward me. I also know that Lin Xue Jie has a quick temper, but is especially capable—no one can match you in a fight.”

At this point, both Lin Xue and Chu Miaoyi looked surprised.

Shui Miao paused, then continued, “In the dream, you two were my best friends, so seeing you now makes me incredibly, incredibly happy. I know everyone’s phone numbers, and some other things too. It’s just too hard to explain everything. I came here today just to see you two, to say a few words, and then I have to leave.”

“Where are you going?”

Chu Miaoyi kept staring at Shui Miao’s expression. The more she looked, the more familiar he seemed.

Lin Xue also gradually had this feeling, as if she had met Shui Miao somewhere before.

“I’m going to Zhonghai City, to find my mother, whom I’ve never seen since I was born. But I saw her in my dream. She should still be in a coma now…” Thinking of his mother, Shui Miao couldn’t help shedding two streams of hot tears: “She became a coma patient because of giving birth to me. I should have gone to Zhonghai immediately, but…”

“But what?”

Chu Miaoyi, affected by Shui Miao’s emotions, also shed a few tears.

“But I know Yao Ye isn’t a good person. He has improper intentions toward Miaoyi Jie, so I had to come here. I don’t want the tragedy from my dream to repeat itself. Yao Ye is a bastard—he doesn’t even deserve to be a police officer.” Shui Miao became emotional: “Alright, I’ve said what I needed to say. Whether you believe me or not doesn’t matter. As long as you two are safe, I won’t have any more worries.”

Chu Miaoyi exchanged glances with Lin Xue again.

Chu Miaoyi somewhat believed Shui Miao’s words, but still had doubts.

Lin Xue didn’t believe him much, but looking at Shui Miao, she felt a strange sense of familiarity—as if he were her own younger brother. This feeling was very strange; Lin Xue had never felt this way about any other boy before.

“Shui Miao, go ahead and say what you just dared not say before. I swear I won’t hit you,” Lin Xue was very curious what secret Shui Miao knew about her.

Wiping his tears, Shui Miao took a deep breath and suddenly smiled, “In the dream, we were in a romantic relationship. I can even tell you exactly where you have scars and moles on your body.”

“What!”

At this, Lin Xue immediately cried out in shock.

She didn’t get angry but instead curiously squatted in front of Shui Miao and said seriously, “Shui Miao, you really scared me just now. It’s hard to believe I’d ever like a guy like you. There’s a scar on my inner thigh that no boy has ever seen. If you can tell me the shape of that scar, I’ll believe you.” In her childhood, Lin Xue had been more mischievous than boys, often jumping around and practicing kicks. Once, she slipped on a watermelon rind and fell, getting a cut from a branch near her private area. This scar was definitely unseen by any boy, not even other girls.

Shui Miao extended his finger and drew a Y-shape on Lin Xue’s palm.

Looking at her palm, Lin Xue was instantly stunned!

“Oh my god! You little brat! I’ve never even been with a man in my entire life, yet you actually had me in your dream! How dare you, what exactly did you do to me in that dream? You have to explain this clearly to me!”

After a while, Lin Xue finally came back to her senses.

Clearly, she believed him—and believed him completely.
