Chapter 209: The Tremor Seal

“Did you all see it or not?”

Shui Miao hurriedly questioned Dai Rong and the old man; this was highly unusual. Such a large black figure—if it wasn’t some malevolent spirit, then surely everyone should have seen it.

“What?”

“…”

Both Dai Rong and the old man looked stunned, clearly having no idea what Shui Miao was talking about.

Since they couldn’t see it, that shadow must definitely be something evil.

Shui Miao wasn’t afraid of evil spirits—in fact, he rather liked them.

Because these spirits could shake the seals on his powers, helping him regain his immortal abilities sooner, which was exactly what Shui Miao truly desired.

The black figure floated toward the mansion across the river…

Could he be a Feng Shui master?

Yes! That mysterious talisman—it must have been him. He must have broken the lion formation I had set up under my master’s teachings. His good luck was all fake; just like that kid, Gongsun, he was cheating too!

Suddenly, Zhou Cai figured it out. He became convinced that Shui Miao was the Feng Shui master hired by Dai Rong. He rushed to the riverbank and shouted, “Old Wu, bring the boat back—quickly!”

Zhou Cai wanted his three million back.

Technically speaking, the money Shui Miao had won wasn’t even Zhou Cai’s, but Zhou was the kind of person who seized every opportunity. If he could just catch that guy, he could at least get a big cut—way easier than running a gambling den.

Zhou Cai wasn’t a pushover.

But this time, he hated Shui Miao even more for breaking the lion formation taught by his master.

Old Wu, the boatman, had been hired by Zhou Cai, so naturally he obeyed him.

“Don’t go back—I’ll pay you…”

Realizing the danger, Dai Rong hurriedly pulled out several thousand dollars and offered it to Old Wu, but Wu was an honest man, unmoved by Dai Rong’s money. He pushed the pole, and the small boat turned back. Meanwhile, Shui Miao remained silent, watching the black shadow beneath the water approach the dock. Seeing the boat return, Zhou Cai grew excited and began walking toward the shore, rolling up his sleeves, ready to take action. Suddenly, a huge wave surged onto the bank, knocking Zhou Cai down and dragging him straight into the river… From Shui Miao’s perspective, it was the black ghost from underwater that had reached out a hand, grabbing Zhou Cai’s ankle and slowly pulling him into the water!

“Help! Help!”

Zhou Cai, panic-stricken, cried desperately for help.

The young girl who had followed them hurried over to pull Zhou Cai back, but another huge wave overturned her, dragging her to the riverbank as well. Luckily, there were small stone lions on the shore, and they clung tightly to them.

“Help! Help!!”

Zhou Cai and the girl cried out together.

Meanwhile, Zhou Cai’s wife was busy dealing with that cheating young man, accompanied by bodyguards and a group of businessmen.

However, Old Wu, the boatman, was a kind-hearted fellow. He hurriedly steered the boat toward them, but suddenly the small boat stopped moving, as if blocked by rocks—though there were no rocks here. Worried, Old Wu was about to jump into the water to save them when Shui Miao suddenly asked, “Black ghost, are you trying to lure me down there?”

In Shui Miao’s eyes, the massive black ghost was now turning to look at him.

It was a dark ghostly face, half-human, half-like a black mist, flickering between form and formlessness. The water ghost didn’t respond to Shui Miao but instead turned its head and pulled hard on Zhou Cai and the girl’s legs, trying to drag them into the water to drown them. It even stretched out its tongue to lick the girl’s body! Seeing this, Shui Miao quickly leaned forward from the bow of the boat and reached for the water ghost, but the ghost suddenly sank downward, dodging Shui Miao’s grasp. Retracting his hand, Shui Miao looked at the ghost and felt a strange sensation—it was targeting him!

The feeling was very peculiar.

“Plop!”

Suddenly, Old Wu jumped into the water, but as soon as he hit the water, the black shadow instantly engulfed him, pinning him to the bottom.

Seeing Old Wu jump in, Dai Rong quickly grabbed the bamboo pole to push the boat back. Feeling the boat move, Shui Miao’s heart stirred as well. Even if this shadow was a manifestation of some evil spirit, he wasn’t afraid. If it wanted to test him, he’d gladly play along.

With this thought, Shui Miao suddenly jumped into the water. Upon entering the water, he felt pitch black all around, yet he could still breathe, as if he had fallen into a black hole rather than water.

An illusion?

Shui Miao dared not breathe through his nose but instead inhaled sharply through his mouth, drawing in a wave of cold energy. As soon as the chill touched him, he felt as if he had plunged into an ice cave, so cold that his very soul shivered! But this icy sensation caused the seals on his head and lower abdomen to vibrate, and even the jade pendant hidden deep within his chest stirred slightly!

Then, the icy feeling quickly disappeared, and the sound of water filled his ears…

The feeling of being alive finally returned.

This time, not only did the seals on his head and lower abdomen tremble, but even the jade pendant given by Ling Shuai had moved, making Shui Miao extremely delighted. He wished he could encounter a few more water ghosts like this one so he could directly break the seals.

Then, Shui Miao was pulled back onto the boat by Dai Rong and taken to the other side of the river.

Old Wu, an excellent swimmer, didn’t drown. He loyally swam to the shore and pulled both Zhou Cai and the girl onto land. They were exhausted, having just been dragged by the water ghost—they were really scared.

Zhou Cai had studied Feng Shui for a few days but had never encountered ghosts or experienced supernatural events. Having experienced this firsthand, he was utterly terrified. He decided to sell the gambling den immediately and never live near water again, choosing instead to spend the rest of his life somewhere where he couldn’t even see a river. Naturally, he also had no intention—and no courage—to bother Shui Miao again.

Shui Miao, soaked and dripping wet, followed Dai Rong onto the shore and hurriedly went to a clothing store in the town. Dai Rong paid for a new set of clothes for Shui Miao to change into. After changing, Shui Miao came out holding his wet five-thousand dollars when he just happened to meet Huo Yuanliang, who had returned from grocery shopping. It was then that Shui Miao learned that the clothing store was owned by Huo Yuanliang’s family.

Since carrying wet money around was inconvenient, Shui Miao simply handed the money to Huo Yuanliang for safekeeping.

Because Dai Rong was in a hurry, Shui Miao just briefly explained a few things to Huo Yuanliang before following Dai Rong running toward the town’s entrance.

At the town’s entrance, Dai Rong’s car was parked.

Dai Rong turned on the air conditioning. As he drove, he kept glancing at the rearview mirror, watching to see if Zhou Cai had brought people to chase them.

“Boss Dai, you didn’t cheat, so why are you so scared?” Shui Miao was somewhat puzzled.

“I, I’m just afraid they’ll misunderstand! They must think we’re in cahoots. You used sorcery to win money, and according to the gambling house rules, they’ll cut off your hands!” Of course Dai Rong was anxious. He wasn’t short of money, but he only had one life, and if his hand were cut off, it wouldn’t grow back.

“Sorcery? You think I used sorcery?” Shui Miao pointed at his own nose, his face full of surprise.

Dai Rong shook his head. “Alright, don’t try to fool me. I can tell. Being able to part the waves and drive away water ghosts—what else could it be but sorcery? You don’t look like someone who practices voodoo, nor a Taoist, and certainly not a monk. So, it must be sorcery, right?”

Dai Rong had also seen the blood talisman on Shui Miao’s hand. After all, who in their right mind would go around drawing circles on their palms after cutting their hands for no reason?

“Fine, let’s just say it was sorcery. Then why did you pull me out of the water?” Shui Miao grinned. “I wasn’t drowning at all. You just gave me a little help, so don’t expect me to repay you for saving my life.”

“Hehe, then can we at least be friends?”

Dai Rong smiled and shook his head.

“Making friends? That’s definitely no problem.”

Shui Miao found that although Dai Rong was over thirty years older than him, for some unknown reason, talking with him felt very natural, as if they were old friends from different generations getting along famously.

“Shui Miao, you can’t leave this town.”

As Shui Miao was chatting with Dai Rong, he suddenly heard a woman’s voice from behind. Turning his head, he saw that sitting in the back seat were actually the female ghost Bai Feng—and the black snake demon had come too!
