Chapter 144: Academic Feng Shui (Part 1)

Being a good person means knowing how to do good deeds promptly. Shui Miao never hesitated to help those in need.

Chen Li indeed needed help, and she was worth helping.

Her family’s financial situation was quite ordinary. Just to send her to college, they had borrowed a significant amount of money. Therefore, she couldn’t afford nice clothes or good food. The only time she had ever enjoyed a big meal was when Zhang Hanya invited her. Because of that, Chen Li felt that Zhang Hanya valued her, and she was determined to repay her kindness. Thus, without considering the consequences, she took out all her money—more than two hundred yuan, which was actually her living expenses for the next month or so.

Now, good people receive good fortune in return. Her good luck had finally arrived.

Shui Miao and Zhang Hanya went upstairs to help Chen Li pack her luggage, and together they headed toward the central road of the campus.

“Brother, which way should we go now?” Zhang Hanya knew that Shui Miao wanted to choose the best feng shui house for Chen Li, so she was quite curious. What kind of house would be considered the best in terms of feng shui? And how would her brother choose it?

Shui Miao looked at Chen Li, asking for her birth date and time. Based on this information, he calculated that Chen Li was born under the “Pomegranate Wood” element. She was not clashing with the ruling planet of the year, her personal element was relatively strong, and her five elements were complete.

One should understand the importance of doing good deeds in a timely manner, and Shui Miao has never been stingy about helping those in need.

This Xiao Li indeed needs help and is worthy of it.

Her family circumstances are quite modest. To afford her college education, her family had to borrow a significant amount of money. As a result, she couldn’t afford nice clothes or good food. The only proper meal she ever had was one treated by Zhang Hanya, which made her feel that Zhang Hanya valued her. She felt she must repay Zhang Hanya’s kindness. So, without considering the consequences, she spent all her money—over two hundred yuan, which was actually her living expenses for the next month or so.

Now, good deeds are rewarded, and her luck is about to change.

Shui Miao and Zhang Hanya went upstairs to help Chen Xiao Li pack her luggage, and then they all headed to the central road of the school.

“Brother, which direction should we go now?” Zhang Hanya knew that Shui Miao intended to find an apartment with the best feng shui for Chen Xiao Li, so she was curious about what kind of place would qualify as the most auspicious and how Shui Miao would make his selection.

Shui Miao turned to Chen Xiao Li and asked for her birth details. Based on her birth chart, he calculated that she had a “Pomegranate Wood” destiny, was not conflicting with the Year Lord, had a strong innate fate, and lacked no elements in her five elements.

“Excellent, no wonder your luck is turning. Having no missing elements in your five elements indicates that you’ve always been in good health, free from random ailments. Your innate fate is also strong. Moreover, this year is the Year of the Snake, and you were born in the Year of the Rooster. The combination of Dragon-Snake and Rooster is a ‘Dragon and Phoenix pairing,’ which is highly auspicious. This is your year of great fortune. Based on your birth date, you’ve only just begun to enter this period of great luck. With my guidance and your own efforts, you should experience continuous good fortune and achieve whatever you set your mind to.” Shui Miao pointed eastward. “Let’s go. We’ll look for a rental apartment in the east. The east corresponds to the Wood element, just like the position of Academic Prosperity (Wenchang). Being east of the school, it’s certain to nurture talented individuals.”

“But I don’t have that much money!” Chen Xiao Li lowered her head and whispered awkwardly.

Zhang Hanya wrapped an arm around Chen Xiao Li’s shoulder and said with a smile, “Xiao Li, you’re so silly. The future Chen Corporation will be world-renowned, and Shui Miao is the real boss of the company. Since he’s willing to help you, how could he possibly ask you to pay? If you feel bad about it, you can join the Chen Corporation after graduation and contribute your efforts. That way, you can repay his recognition and kindness!”

“Exactly! I’m just scouting talent in advance. Someone as pure and kind-hearted as you is exactly the kind of core team member I’ve always dreamed of having.” Shui Miao pulled the suitcase and spoke cheerfully. “By the way, Xiao Li, you must remember that the apartment I find for you cannot be shared with anyone else. Each person has their own destiny, and everyone’s energy field is different. The apartment I select will be tailored specifically for you. If someone else lives there, it could disrupt the feng shui energy, and all my efforts would be in vain.”

“Don’t worry, she definitely won’t do that. Right, Xiao Li?” Zhang Hanya glanced at Chen Xiao Li.

Chen Xiao Li nodded and replied shyly, “I’ll listen to you.”

“Hehe!” Shui Miao smiled faintly. This Chen Xiao Li was truly shy, very much like his younger sister, Chen Xiang.

To the east of the school lay a range of relatively low hills, lush with trees and vibrant greenery. Many houses stood on the slopes, all local residential buildings. Due to the uneven terrain, the houses were built in a disorderly manner—one here, another there. To the naked eye, the houses rose and fell with the landscape, each with a different shape, making it difficult to determine which had the best feng shui. However, this was no challenge for Shui Miao. He activated his Yin-Yang vision, scanned from a distance, and spotted two houses with exceptionally strong spiritual energy. They then made their way to these houses.

Both houses faced south and were built on the mountainside. Each was a three-room, two-story building with several small rooms extending on either side, leading to a front wall. The only difference was that one house had a rectangular gate with bright red iron railings, while the other had a circular gate with cyan railings. The rectangular gate had a golden house number plate, while the circular one had black characters.

After a brief glance, Shui Miao pointed to the house with the circular gate. “This one. The circular gate belongs to the Water element, and Water nurtures Wood. The house number plate is sky blue, which also corresponds to Water. So, this is the most suitable choice.”

“Why isn’t the other one suitable?” Zhang Hanya pointed to the house with the rectangular gate.

Shui Miao lowered his voice and explained, “Although the rectangular shape belongs to Wood, the railings are fiery red, which corresponds to Fire. Fire burning Wood is inauspicious. The house number plate is golden, belonging to Metal, and Metal restrains Wood, which is even more unfavorable. If Xiao Li lived there, she would certainly be restrained.”

“Can’t we just change the colors?” Zhang Hanya looked at Shui Miao blankly. “Wouldn’t that solve the problem?”

“You’re thinking too simply,” Shui Miao shook his head. “The shape and feng shui of a house are closely tied to the owner’s destiny. If the current owner lives there without issues, it means the owner’s destiny aligns with Fire or Metal. Once a new house is built, it has its own attributes, but after someone moves in, the feng shui gradually adjusts to the resident. Whether the resident can suppress the house’s attributes depends on how strong their birth chart is.”

“But Xiao Li’s birth chart is very good!” Zhang Hanya pressed.

Shui Miao shook his head again. “Little sister, we’re here to go with the flow and enhance luck, not to defy fate. It’s like sailing with the wind versus against it.” Shui Miao felt like Zhang Hanya was here to apprentice under him. If she kept asking questions, she’d learn all his tricks.

“Oh…” Zhang Hanya finally understood.

“Knock, knock, knock!”

Shui Miao knocked on the door a few times. No one came out, but a massive Tibetan Mastiff emerged from the yard. Its fur was golden and lustrous, resembling a lion. This golden Tibetan Mastiff was exceptionally rare and likely worth at least two to three hundred thousand yuan.

“Ah! This Tibetan Mastiff is golden too! What do we do? Metal restrains Wood!”

Seeing the Mastiff standing as tall as her chest, like a small calf, Zhang Hanya was startled.

Chen Xiao Li was also frightened and quickly grabbed Zhang Hanya’s hand.

“Dogs belong to the Fire element, and its fur is golden. This Tibetan Mastiff’s destiny is incredibly strong!” Shui Miao murmured as he observed the dog. After looking at Shui Miao for a moment, the Mastiff slowly approached the gate without barking. It even stretched its paw through the railings as if asking to shake hands, leaving Zhang Hanya and Chen Xiao Li utterly stunned.

Shui Miao boldly reached out and patted the Mastiff’s paw, then suddenly broke into a wide grin!

“Brother, why are you laughing for no reason?”

Seeing Shui Miao’s inexplicable laughter, Zhang Hanya felt a chill down her spine. What was going on with her brother?

“But I don’t have that much money!”

Chen Li lowered her head, awkwardly murmuring.

Zhang Hanya wrapped her arm around Chen Li’s shoulder and smiled, “Xiao Li, you really are silly. In the future, the Chen Group will be world-famous, and Shui Miao is the real boss of the group. If he’s willing to help you, would he ever ask you to pay? If you feel too guilty, after you graduate from school, you can join the Chen Group and contribute your efforts, which would be the perfect way to repay his kindness.”

“Exactly! I’m just recruiting talent early. You’re so sincere and kind-hearted; you’re exactly the kind of core team member I’ve always dreamed of having,” Shui Miao said cheerfully while pulling the suitcase. “Oh, by the way, Xiao Li, you must remember one thing: no one else can live in the house I find for you. Everyone has a different destiny and aura. The house I selected is specifically suitable for you. If someone else moves in, they might disrupt the feng shui energy, and all my efforts would be in vain.”

“Don’t worry, she won’t do that. Isn’t that right, Xiao Li?”

Zhang Hanya looked at Chen Li.

Chen Li nodded shyly and replied softly, “I’ll follow your advice.”

“Hehe!”

Shui Miao smiled faintly. This Chen Li was indeed quite shy, very much like his own younger sister, Chen Xiang.

The eastern side of the campus was a cluster of small, not very tall hills. The hills were lush with trees and vibrant greenery. Many houses stood on the slopes. These were local villagers’ homes, built in a somewhat chaotic manner due to the uneven terrain—some here, some there. From a distance, the houses varied in height and shape, making it difficult to determine which one had better feng shui. However, this posed no problem for Shui Miao. He activated his yin-yang eyes, looked into the distance, and immediately spotted two houses with particularly strong spiritual energy. They approached these houses together.

Both houses faced south and were built halfway up the hill. Each was a two-story building with three rooms, with additional small rooms extending from both sides, leading to a front wall. The only differences were that one house had a rectangular door with bright red iron railings, while the other had a round door with bluish-green railings. Additionally, the house number plate on the rectangular door was golden, while the one on the round door was black text.

After observing for a moment, Shui Miao raised his finger and pointed at the house with the round door. “This one. The round door belongs to the Water element, which nourishes Wood. The doorplate is sky blue, also belonging to Water. Therefore, this house is the most suitable choice.”

“Why isn’t the other one suitable?” Zhang Hanya pointed at the house with the rectangular door.

Shui Miao lowered his voice and explained, “Although the rectangular shape belongs to Wood, the door’s red railings naturally belong to Fire, which burns Wood—an inauspicious sign. The golden doorplate belongs to Metal, which suppresses Wood even further, making it even more unfavorable. Therefore, if Xiao Li lived there, she would definitely be suppressed.”

“Then why not just change the color?” Zhang Hanya looked at Shui Miao, puzzled. “Wouldn’t that solve the problem?”

“You’re thinking too simply,” Shui Miao shook his head. “The shape and feng shui of a house are closely related to the owner’s destiny. If a house suits the owner and causes no problems, it means the owner’s element is either Fire or Metal. Once a house is built, it has its own attributes, but after someone moves in, the feng shui of the house gradually adjusts with the owner. Whether the owner can control the house’s attributes depends on the strength of their birth elements.”

“But Xiao Li’s birth elements are quite good, right?” Zhang Hanya asked further.

Shui Miao shook his head again. “Dear sister, we’re here to go with the natural flow and enhance fortune, not to defy fate and change destiny. It’s the difference between going with the wind or against it.” Shui Miao felt that Zhang Hanya was here to learn from him, and if she kept asking questions like this, she would soon learn everything he knew.

“Ooooh…”

Zhang Hanya finally understood.

“Knock knock knock!”

Shui Miao knocked on the door a few times, but no one came out. Instead, a large Tibetan Mastiff walked out from the yard. Its golden fur made it look like a lion. This golden Tibetan Mastiff was quite rare, likely worth at least two or three hundred thousand yuan.

“Oh no! This dog is golden too. Won’t Metal suppress Wood?”

Seeing the dog reaching up to her chest, as big as a calf, Zhang Hanya was greatly startled.

Chen Li was also shocked and quickly grabbed Zhang Hanya’s hand.

“Dogs belong to Fire, and its fur is golden. This Mastiff’s destiny is indeed quite strong,” Shui Miao murmured to himself while observing the dog. After looking at Shui Miao for a moment, the Mastiff slowly approached the gate. It didn’t bark but instead extended its paw from between the railings, as if wanting to shake hands with Shui Miao. This sight left Zhang Hanya and Chen Li astonished.

Shui Miao bravely reached out and touched the Mastiff’s paw, suddenly breaking into a wide grin!

“Brother, why are you laughing for no reason?”

Seeing Shui Miao’s sudden grin, Zhang Hanya couldn’t help but feel uneasy. What was wrong with her brother?
