Chapter 614: The Wolf Appears

“Whether you’re the incarnation of the Corpse Demon or not, only one of us will survive,” Han Li said expressionlessly. Without hesitation, he pointed at the swarm of flying swords before him. The emerald sword screen surged, transforming into a vast expanse of cyan radiance that swept toward the fox demon in the corner of the stone chamber with the force of a collapsing mountain.

Upon seeing Han Li’s attack, the seductive woman’s expression turned from surprise to delight. She licked her crimson lips with a pink tongue and let out an enchanting laugh before vanishing in a flash of white light.

The cyan radiance struck empty air, rebounding off the azure stone walls with a grating metallic clang.

Han Li frowned, swiftly scanning the area with his spiritual sense but finding no trace of the fox demon. Her concealment technique was indeed far superior to his.

However, his expression remained unchanged. Instead, he snorted coldly and slapped his storage pouch, retrieving a small silver bell.

“Go!” he muttered. The bell flashed with light, transforming into a streak of silver that hovered a few feet above his head before reappearing.

Without delay, Han Li formed a hand seal and exhaled a puff of cyan qi onto the bell.

Instantly, the ancient treasure emitted a deafening chime, its silver light flaring.

The enclosed space amplified the sonic attack, increasing its power by nearly half. The entire stone chamber reverberated with the echoes. Then, a spatial distortion appeared about five or six zhang away from Han Li.

In a flash of white light, the naked woman staggered into view.

Though inwardly elated, Han Li was also puzzled. This fox demon seemed even weaker than an ordinary seventh-tier demon beast. Had the Corpse Demon’s injuries also weakened its so-called incarnation?

Despite his doubts, he wasted no time. With a flick of his fingers, five streaks of cyan sword energy shot forth, piercing the woman’s body in multiple places.

She let out a bloodcurdling scream before collapsing to the ground, her snow-white body now drenched in crimson blood.

The ease of his victory gave Han Li pause. Just as he hesitated, the jade ruyi in his hand suddenly grew scorching hot, and a layer of crimson light enveloped his body.

Almost simultaneously, several slender silver threads shot out from seemingly empty space, striking the unexpected barrier and being perfectly deflected.

“Huh?”

“Ah!”

Both Han Li and the woman gasped in surprise.

Recovering quickly, Han Li spat out a streak of cyan light toward the source of the silver threads.

From that direction came a seductive laugh as the naked woman reappeared in another part of the chamber, pressing a hand to her chest.

Han Li’s expression darkened as he glanced back at where the woman had fallen—only to find the spot empty.

“Illusion!” he muttered, his lips tightening.

The woman smiled coyly, ignoring his words. Instead, her gaze shifted to the small yellow wolf crouched beside Han Li, a flicker of surprise crossing her face.

Noticing her reaction, Han Li also glanced at the wolf before looking down at the wolf-headed jade ruyi in his hand, his expression shifting uncertainly.

The fiery barrier that had blocked the fox demon’s attack hadn’t been activated by him—had the artifact’s spirit acted on its own? The thought of the red and yellow wolves merging into the mysterious silver wolf unsettled him.

As the woman swayed her slender waist, about to speak, the jade ruyi in Han Li’s hand flashed. A streak of red light shot out, while the small wolf leaped silently into the air, transforming into a streak of yellow light that merged with the red.

Han Li’s expression shifted slightly, but he restrained himself from acting rashly.

As expected, the red and yellow lights converged, erupting into a silver halo. Within it appeared a massive silver wolf, floating in midair, its eyes gleaming with excitement as it fixed its gaze on the fox demon.

Though the naked woman didn’t recognize the wolf, its appearance sent a chill down her spine. Even her seductive demeanor faltered under its stare.

Realizing her unease, she frowned and parted her lips, spewing a cloud of pink mist that instantly concealed her form.

The mist rapidly spread, soon filling most of the chamber. Unsure of its effects, Han Li dared not inhale any of it. With a cold expression, he reached for his waist and retrieved a spirit beast pouch.

No matter how skilled the fox demon was at concealment, he doubted she could evade the onslaught of thousands of Gold Devouring Beetles.

Just as he was about to release them, the silver wolf shocked him by taking action.

It suddenly opened its maw, unleashing countless silver orbs the size of fists, all hurtling toward a specific point in the mist. Then, with a low growl, it transformed into a silver streak and charged in.

Han Li hesitated, momentarily halting his summoning.

A series of muffled explosions followed as the silver orbs burst within the mist, mingling with the pink haze. A furious snarl echoed from within.

The silver streak plunged into the mist.

“What are you—? Impossible! You’re— No!” The fox demon’s voice rose in terror before abruptly cutting off.

Han Li’s expression shifted as he narrowed his eyes at the dissipating mist.

Soon, the pink haze thinned, revealing the scene within.

His face darkened at the sight.

The naked woman, now trembling violently, lay sprawled on the ground. Her body flickered with pink and silver light, each occupying half of her form, clashing violently at the midpoint as if locked in a struggle.

“Possession?” Han Li gasped.

As he watched, the silver light began overwhelming the pink, forcing it into retreat.

“No!” the woman screamed, clutching her head in agony. Her voluptuous body convulsed, shrinking and twisting in a flash of white light until she reverted to her true form—a petite white fox.

The last traces of pink light at the tip of her tail were devoured by the silver radiance, and her formidable cultivation vanished, leaving her as nothing more than a low-tier demon beast.

Exhausted, the fox lay motionless, but the silver glow around her grew even more dazzling.

Han Li tightened his grip on the jade ruyi, hesitating. The silver wolf had clearly succeeded in its possession—should he restrain it now or wait?

After a long pause, he sighed. At the very least, the fox’s power had dwindled to insignificance, eliminating the need for immediate action. Moreover, the silver wolf had earlier shielded him from an attack, suggesting no ill intent.

He was also deeply curious about its origins. Never had he heard of an artifact spirit acting independently. This silver wolf was undoubtedly extraordinary, just as he had suspected.

As he pondered, the silver glow dimmed, and the fox weakly rose to its feet.

It stumbled awkwardly, its front legs buckling after a few steps.

Han Li couldn’t help but chuckle.

Hearing this, the fox lifted its head, shooting him an annoyed glare.

“What’s so funny? It’s only natural to struggle with a new body,” a woman’s voice suddenly rang in his ears.

Han Li froze.

“You’re… also female?” he muttered, rubbing his nose in disbelief.
