Chapter 329: Exterminating the Enemy

Song Meng and the other cultivator were startled to see the Yue Emperor attacking the cross-legged Han Li.

Though they knew they couldn’t withstand even a single blow from that blade, they had no choice but to act simultaneously—one unleashed a series of fireballs, while the other threw out a talisman that transformed into seven or eight millstone-sized boulders, hoping to block the attack, if only slightly.

Unfortunately, these two spells were effortlessly wiped out by a mere sweep of the massive blade’s radiance before they could even get close.

Then, the blade radiance swung back, carrying a foul, fishy stench, and viciously chopped down again.

As the blade’s edge was about to strike him, Han Li remained calm, a cold smirk playing on his lips.

Seeing Han Li so composed, the Yue Emperor was taken aback. Before he could ponder its meaning, his blade had already slashed downward.

With a blur before his eyes, Han Li vanished from below him, and the strike hit empty air.

Startled, he realized he had somehow been teleported back dozens of feet in the air, with the five-colored glow still visible below. He had been moved back to his original position.

The Yue Emperor’s expression turned extremely grim. Gritting his teeth, he slashed several times, tearing through the glow again and charging downward, only to find Han Li still sitting calmly, watching him.

This time, the Yue Emperor didn’t rush in recklessly. Instead, he shook his body, releasing a massive wave of bloody light that pressed down like a tidal wave, followed closely by the black blade radiance.

Prepared now, he finally saw clearly the bizarre scene unfolding below.

The bloody light vanished without a trace just ten feet above Han Li’s head, as if swallowed by something. Simultaneously, he sensed his protective demonic light reappear high in the air behind him—it had truly been teleported back instantly.

In his shock, his subsequent strike was utterly useless. In a flash, both he and his blade were returned to the air above the glow.

This time, the Yue Emperor turned pale, panic showing on his face for the first time.

He stopped charging downward and instead swung the Black Blood Demon Blade in his hand, continuously releasing crescent-shaped blade radiances in all directions, trying to find a weakness in the formation.

However, shortly after flying out, the blade radiances were reflected back intact after a flash of white light, forcing him into a flurry of action to block his own fierce attacks.

If earlier the Yue Emperor had been unable to escape the formation and only thought it contained some illusions, not particularly worried, believing his demonic arts could easily break a minor formation, now he faced instant teleportation and reflected attacks. His heart sank!

These were restrictions only seen in powerful formations known as “Forbidden Great Arrays”!

Just as he felt extremely uneasy and sensed impending doom, a powerful spiritual energy suddenly surged from the glow below, making him shudder. He quickly tightened his grip on the black blade, and the bloody light around him spun rapidly, enveloping him in a blood-colored whirlwind, protecting him flawlessly.

Then, two other equally strong spiritual pressures erupted from below. Amid a buzzing sound, the glow split open, revealing a circular passage about ten feet in diameter. Instantly, dense swarms of small green rulers surged out, transforming into a mighty green torrent charging straight at the Yue Emperor—this was Han Li’s successfully activated Green Ruler Talisman Treasure.

After the rulers, a small fiery-red sword and a yellow crystal ball flew out one after another.

Once out of the passage, they underwent changes—one grew enormous, while the other emitted a piercing yellow light. Under the control of Chen Qiaoqian and Zhong Weiniang, these two talisman treasures silently split left and right, flanking the enemy.

Seeing this, the Yue Emperor inside the blood whirlwind turned livid. He madly swung the Black Blood Demon Blade, firing seven or eight massive blade radiances in succession to meet the green ruler swarm. In a series of cracking sounds, most of the small rulers were shattered.

Han Li, controlling the talisman treasure below, paled slightly. Connected mentally, he was also affected. The blood blade’s power was unexpectedly strong; fortunately, he didn’t have to confront it head-on.

But now, the Yue Emperor was merely making a desperate struggle. Even with the blade radiances hindering them, the remaining green rulers, along with the red sword and yellow crystal ball, seized the opportunity to fly to the blood whirlwind and plunge in without hesitation.

Immediately, sharp screeches erupted from the crimson whirlwind. Green, red, and yellow lights continuously bloomed, clashing with the black radiance, indicating an intense battle inside!

Suddenly, an enraged shout came from within. With a shattering sound, the black, yellow, and red lights flashed violently simultaneously, then completely disappeared from the blood whirlwind. Below, Chen Qiaoqian and Zhong Weiniang, sitting beside Han Li, turned ashen and listless.

“Seventh Junior Sister, are you alright?” Song Meng asked urgently.

“We’re fine. That blood blade is truly demonic; it forced our talisman treasures to mutual destruction. Now it’s up to Junior Brother Han’s talisman treasure to finish the enemy,” Chen Qiaoqian said softly, taking two blue pills from her robe, swallowing one and tossing the other to Zhong Weiniang.

“Your talisman treasures were destroyed?” another exclaimed in shock. In his view, aside from magic treasures, talisman treasures should be invincible!

“Indeed! I suspect that demonic blade might be a fragment of some magic treasure?” Zhong Weiniang said, her cheeks flushing unusually after taking the pill.

“A magic treasure fragment? How is that possible?” Chen Qiaoqian also expressed surprise.

At that moment, a series of earth-shattering booms erupted above them, drawing their startled gazes.

Amid the dim radiance, a dazzling interplay of emerald and crimson light erupted from the battlefield. In the next instant, the bloody glow sharply receded, utterly engulfed by the verdant luminescence. Soon after, all brilliance gradually dimmed, unveiling the Yue Emperor standing tall and unyielding.

His face was full of confusion, his lips moved slightly, and then he crumbled like porcelain. His entire body turned into a pile of rotten flesh, dropping straight down, only to be gently caught by the glow above everyone.

Seeing this, Han Li’s fellow disciples were overjoyed. Song Meng turned to Han Li excitedly and exclaimed, “Junior Brother Han, you’ve slain this demon! I knew you could do it!”

“I had to release the talisman treasure’s remaining energy all at once to break his bloody light. Otherwise, it might have dragged on much longer,” Han Li said with a smile, standing up, a hint of pride in his words.

Indeed, the method to draw out a talisman treasure’s full power wasn’t something just anyone could use. Only after repeatedly using and observing various talisman treasures had Han Li gained some insight.

This was a clever strategy to overcome powerful adversaries. Although it drastically reduced the number of times the talisman could be used, it greatly amplified its potency, making it exceptionally effective against formidable opponents!

Han Li had only grasped this technique recently. Using it unexpectedly now, he managed to annihilate the already weakened enemy in one strike. Of course, this talisman treasure also reached its end, turning to ashes.

However, Han Li’s mind was already on the “Blood Condensation Five Elements Dan.” After briefly responding to Song Meng, he without hesitation released two beast puppets, directing them straight toward the Yue Emperor’s corpse.

The others didn’t mind much. After all, this enemy was almost solely defeated by Han Li, so the spoils naturally belonged to him.

Zhong Weiniang, having avenged her beloved, finally showed some joy on her face and repeatedly thanked Han Li. She said that Senior Brother Liu and the others, if they knew underground, would surely be grateful to Han Li for avenging them!

These words made Han Li, who actually had other motives for this trip, somewhat embarrassed.

He quickly changed the subject, suggesting the others search the palace for any remaining Black Evil Cult members while he stayed to tidy up and dismantle the formation.

Hearing this, the others from Yellow Maple Valley understood his intention—he was giving them the opportunity to loot the Black Evil Cult’s headquarters.

Song Meng beamed with joy. Though Chen Qiaoqian and Zhong Weiniang felt a bit embarrassed, Han Li said calmly, “I’ll join you after I’m done here. Besides, the Black Evil Cult leader must have left plenty of goodies, which should be enough compensation for me!”

Hearing this, the others saw the reason and didn’t refuse. After all, they had suffered significant losses in today’s battle!

So, after Han Li opened the formation, the others swiftly flew away on their artifacts.

Once they were out of sight, Han Li waved to the two beast puppets above with relief. They flew back to him, carrying the items they had found.
