Chapter 278: The Half-Year Agreement

As the person involved, Xin Ruyin was initially just as thrilled!

After all, this concerned her long-standing, incurable illness. However, after her expression shifted several times between hope and doubt, she bit her red lip and hesitantly said, “Senior, if there is anything you need this junior to do, please speak frankly! As long as it does not go against morality or conscience, this young woman will certainly agree!”

As she spoke, Xin Ruyin’s clear, bright eyes gazed directly at Han Li, fearing he might make a request she simply couldn’t agree to.

Seeing how cautious she was, Han Li couldn’t help but smile knowingly.

It reminded him of his own early days on the path of cultivation—equally careful, afraid that a single misstep might cost him his life.

“Fellow Daoist Xin, there’s no need to be so nervous. I merely wish to ask you to repair an object related to spell formations. Once it is restored, I will gladly present the spirit herb to you with both hands!” Han Li said calmly, meeting her gaze directly with an open and honest demeanor.

Xin Ruyin was somewhat skeptical upon hearing this.

But she still breathed a sigh of relief, her delicate face blossoming into a smile as she said, “If it’s truly just repairing an object, then of course there’s no problem! Ruyin will do everything in her power to restore it. Senior, you can rest assured.”

Her expression had been rather cool and detached all along, but this sudden radiant smile, with its enchanting charm, made even Han Li stare in a daze, momentarily spellbound! Not to mention Qi Xiaoyao, who had been hopelessly infatuated with her for years—he was once again utterly captivated, lost in that smile.

Noticing the unusual look in Han Li’s eyes, Xin Ruyin’s cheeks flushed slightly, adding to her delicate and charming demeanor.

Realizing he had been somewhat improper, Han Li quickly collected himself and continued, “To be honest, although I know Fellow Daoist Xin must be deeply knowledgeable about spell formations, I truly have no certainty whether this object can be repaired. The original item cannot be moved and is quite far from here, so I’ve replicated it into a diagram. I hope you can discern some clues from the diagram and repair it!”

As he spoke, Han Li took out a jade slip from his storage pouch and handed it to her. The moment Xin Ruyin received it, she curiously channeled her spiritual sense into it for a glance.

What she saw inside the jade slip made her exclaim in surprise, “An ancient teleportation formation?”

Hearing her exclamation, the last trace of worry in Han Li’s heart vanished! So it really was an ancient teleportation formation. Now, it all depended on whether she could repair it.

Thinking this, Han Li carefully observed the expression on Xin Ruyin’s face, afraid she might show signs of difficulty.

Upon hearing the words “ancient teleportation formation,” Qi Xiaoyao also wore a look of astonishment, his eyes filled with disbelief.

After the time it takes to burn an incense stick, Xin Ruyin finally let out a long breath and withdrew her spiritual sense from the jade slip.

She lowered her head in deep thought for a moment before raising it and saying to Han Li seriously, “This is indeed a genuine ancient teleportation formation. Originally, with my level of skill, I wouldn’t be able to repair a completely destroyed ancient formation. However, this teleportation formation is only slightly damaged—just a small corner. And coincidentally, this part of the formation happens to be one of the few ancient spell formations I’ve studied. So, it seems there is great hope of restoring it.”

By the end of her words, a look of relief had appeared on Xin Ruyin’s face.

Han Li was naturally overjoyed to hear this, but her next words dealt him a heavy blow.

“However, this type of ancient spell formation isn’t commonly used, and I haven’t studied it very deeply. Therefore, Senior, you will need to give me some time to fully repair the diagram of the ancient teleportation formation in the jade slip,” Xin Ruyin added, looking somewhat embarrassed.

“Of course, but how much time do you estimate you’ll need, Fellow Daoist Xin? I can return then,” Han Li replied after a moment’s thought, readily agreeing.

“About half a year should be sufficient! After all, I did study it for some time in the past,” Xin Ruyin said without hesitation, clearly having already estimated the time required.

“Very well, I’ll return in half a year to collect the repaired diagram. I hope Miss Xin does not disappoint me,” Han Li said with a smile and a nod.

And so, Han Li formally entrusted the task of repairing the ancient teleportation formation to Xin Ruyin, the female spell formation master. After spending the rest of the afternoon chatting with Qi Xiaoyao and the others, he prepared to take his leave.

Before departing, Han Li advised the two to be extra cautious. He suggested they consider moving to a new residence, as it was certain that someone would come investigating the deaths of the cultivators they had killed, and staying nearby would make them too easy to expose.

Upon hearing this, Qi Xiaoyao and Xin Ruyin exchanged a glance, both showing troubled expressions. In the end, they remained noncommittal about Han Li’s suggestion to relocate.

Though Han Li found this somewhat strange and worrying, he felt it wasn’t his place to say more. So, he mounted his magical tool and flew away, heading back to the State of Yue.

The capital of the State of Yue was the renowned Yuejing!

Not only was it the largest city in Yue, but it was also conveniently located in the very center of the country, with transportation routes extending in all directions. It served as the nation’s economic and cultural hub.

In such a city, every inch of land was already immensely valuable. Not only were properties several times more expensive than in ordinary cities, but even if someone were willing to pay a higher price, no one would be willing to sell!

After all, residing in Yuejing was in itself a symbol of status.

The entire city of Yuejing was divided into four districts: east, west, south, and north.

The northern district was where the imperial city was located, and naturally, no one outside the royal family was permitted to live there. The southern district, opposite to it, was reserved for officials and nobles—only those holding some rank or position were qualified to move there. If a household no longer had anyone serving in the court, they would naturally have to relocate out of the district.
