Chapter 2237: Battle of the Insect Mother (Part 1)

“Hmph, that would require the cooperation of other fellow Daoists. What if we make a move, and they take the opportunity to teleport away?” Han Li snorted in response via voice transmission.

“Brother Han, rest assured. The Phoenix Spirit Disk I gifted you has been slightly tampered with beforehand. As long as I will it, the disk will be temporarily unusable. Once the other fellow Daoists learn of this, they will naturally understand the gravity of the situation.”

Bao Hua smiled faintly and revealed something that left Han Li momentarily stunned.

Then, her lips moved slightly as she actually transmitted her words to the others.

Han Li’s gaze flickered as he glanced at the ancient-looking elder and the black-robed woman.

He saw their expressions freeze for an instant upon hearing Bao Hua’s brief transmission, but anger quickly surfaced, and they glared fiercely at Bao Hua.

Yet, Bao Hua remained unperturbed, even offering them a faint smile.

The elder and the black-robed woman were undoubtedly furious. If not for the terrifying enemy before them, they might have immediately turned against Bao Hua.

However, the little girl didn’t give them time to ponder further. After savoring the taste of the burly man’s Spirit Infant, her eyes flickered as she scanned the group below and giggled again. “Have you decided how to compensate me? How about this—hand over all your Spirit Infants. If I eat one or two more, it might suffice, and the rest of you can leave unharmed. What do you think?”

“You underestimate us too much if you think such obvious provocation will work on us. If you kill another one of us, the rest will truly be at your mercy,” Bao Hua replied calmly, raising a hand without hesitation.

The earthen-yellow nail embedded in the black crystal trembled and vanished in an instant.

In the next moment, a yellow glow flashed in Bao Hua’s jade-like hand, and the Earth Emperor Nail silently reappeared.

“Oh, so you intend to fight me? How interesting. Surviving my earlier strike shows you have some skill. But right now, the Spirit Infant I crave isn’t yours—it’s this person’s. Tsk tsk, such formidable divine sense! His Spirit Infant must be a hundred times more delicious than the last one.” The little girl grinned and shook her head, pointing a bony finger at someone below.

Han Li’s expression shifted slightly—the person she pointed at was none other than himself.

Bao Hua and the others were also taken aback.

According to the words of this Mother of Screaming Souls, Han Li’s divine sense seemed to far surpass even Bao Hua’s, the former Ancestor.

This was unexpected for everyone.

“So you find my Spirit Infant more appetizing? If you have the skill to take it, be my guest.” Han Li’s odd expression vanished as he smiled faintly, seemingly unperturbed by the little girl’s threat.

Bao Hua and the others, though their faces remained neutral, couldn’t help but admire his composure.

Facing the threat of a terrifying entity like the Mother of Screaming Souls with such calmness and even humor was no small feat.

“Then I won’t hold back. I’ll savor the taste of your Spirit Infant.” The little girl licked her lips with a pink tongue, then suddenly grinned innocently. Clenching her fists, her figure blurred into a shadowy streak, shooting downward with incredible speed.

The moment Han Li heard the sound of rushing air, the shadow was already right in front of him. A fist wreathed in black flames shot forward, piercing through his chest as if tearing through space.

The shadow solidified, and the little girl reappeared with a smile.

But in the next instant, her grin faltered as an emerald streak shot out from Han Li’s body without warning, slicing her in half with a flash.

The Han Li who had been pierced by her fist then exploded into a burst of golden light.

From another spot in the void, another Han Li stepped forward expressionlessly, holding a shimmering emerald sword that faintly radiated strands of law power.

“An Empyrean Treasure! That sword of yours is indeed an Empyrean artifact! No wonder you escaped my strike. It seems I’ll have to put in more effort to take you down.”

The little girl’s light laughter echoed again.

A bizarre scene unfolded—the bisected girl showed no blood, her two halves floating quietly in the air as both mouths grinned and spoke simultaneously.

The eerie smile sent chills down the spines of the ancient elder and the black-robed woman, filling them with dread.

At that moment, Bao Hua suddenly raised a hand, sending the Earth Emperor Nail flying. Her figure twisted and vanished in a flash of pink light.

Meanwhile, the elder and the black-robed woman heard her voice transmission:

“Fellow Daoists, act now as I instructed! Only by destroying the Mother’s true form can we escape alive! Brother Han and I cannot hold her avatar for long.”

The elder and the black-robed woman exchanged glances, their expressions shifting several times before they gritted their teeth and shot downward as two streaks of light, vanishing into the water below.

Despite their anger over Bao Hua’s tampering with the Phoenix Spirit Disk, they had no choice but to continue cooperating.

“You seek death!”

The little girl’s expression darkened at their actions. She let out a low snarl and moved to intercept, but a yellow glow flashed before her as the giant nail reappeared in front of her bisected form. With a flicker, it transformed into a yellow silk net, descending rapidly.

Countless yellow runes churned within the net, radiating intense law power.

The little girl’s eyes glinted coldly. Her two halves trembled and exploded into countless black threads, scattering in all directions and escaping the net’s grasp just in time.

Han Li’s face hardened. With a loud shout, his body erupted in purple-gold light. The Empyrean Slaying Sword in his hand twisted, transforming into countless emerald threads that shot forth, vanishing into the void before reappearing in front of the black threads, slashing at them violently.

A series of popping sounds followed.

The black threads shrank slightly upon contact with the emerald threads, exploding into clouds of black mist.

Han Li’s expression darkened as he pointed a finger forward, intending to sweep away the mist with the emerald threads.

But the black mist suddenly dispersed, vanishing on the spot.

In the next moment, black light flashed in another part of the void, and the little girl reappeared unharmed.

She smirked at Han Li, forming a hand seal to unleash some technique when a strange fragrance enveloped her. Countless pink petals materialized in the air around her, and the space grew thick and viscous.

Startled, she tried to break free, but above her, Bao Hua silently emerged from the petals, holding a massive glowing orb. She raised it high, and it exploded, releasing a torrent of runes that swirled and shimmered brilliantly.

At the center of the explosion, a green light flickered, and a tiny emerald sprout appeared. In the blink of an eye, it grew into a half-foot-tall sapling, then rapidly expanded into a towering emerald tree adorned with countless pink flower buds.

A melodious chant spilled from Bao Hua’s lips as the buds bloomed, turning the entire tree pink.

In an instant, the void filled with chanting, and everywhere one looked, pink blossoms filled the air. The space within thousands of feet became a sea of pink, as if forming its own world.

“Empyrean Spirit Domain!”

The little girl finally lost her composure, her face twisting into a snarl as countless gray-white runes appeared on her body. The surrounding space distorted as she struggled against the domain’s restraints.

The entire sea of flowers trembled violently, as if unable to hold her for long.

Bao Hua’s expression changed. She urgently called to Han Li, “Brother Han, strike now!”

As she spoke, she tore a branch laden with giant flowers from the tree and slashed it toward the little girl. The flowers transformed into multicolored runes that vanished in a flash, while the girl at the domain’s center let out a shriek—one of her arms dissolved into nothingness.

Simultaneously, the branch in Bao Hua’s hand crumbled to dust.

But in the next moment, black mist rolled over the girl’s shoulder, and a new arm instantly regenerated.

Without hesitation, Bao Hua grabbed two more branches and slashed again.

Two more pops sounded, and this time, both of the girl’s arms vanished.

The little girl’s eyes blazed with fury, her face contorted with rage. Yet, as black mist swirled, two new arms regrew.

Meanwhile, Han Li formed a series of hand seals. A series of muffled cracks echoed from his body as golden light erupted from his skin, covering him in purple-gold scales. A short horn sprouted from his forehead, while his shoulders and sides bulged, giving rise to two additional heads and four more golden arms.

With a roar from all three heads, a black line split open on each forehead, revealing a third eye shimmering with violet-gold light.

Han Li had activated his Nirvana Sacred Body to its limits.

His aura now surged to more than ten times its previous intensity. With all six arms gripping the Empyrean Slaying Sword, he swung it fiercely toward the trapped little girl.
