“These are just minor techniques, hardly worth mentioning. I’m afraid I’ve made a fool of myself in front of Fellow Daoist Liu.” Han Li responded with a faint smile before slowly descending toward the small island.
Liu Shui’er frowned slightly. She had more questions but found it inappropriate to press further, so she transformed into a streak of blue light and followed suit.
By then, Shi Kun had already been waiting at the center of the island for some time. He had witnessed Han Li dispelling the ice wall with his own eyes, yet his expression remained eerily calm, a stark contrast to his earlier frenzied demeanor during their confrontation.
Seeing this, Han Li felt a chill in his heart.
“Our time is limited. Let’s begin practicing the joint attack technique now,” Shi Kun said with a grin as soon as Han Li and Liu Shui’er landed nearby.
“Of course. However, this technique requires a primary and secondary coordination based on the strength of each individual’s Magnetic Divine Light. It would be best for the person with the strongest power to lead, maximizing the technique’s potential. The three of us should first demonstrate our respective Magnetic Divine Light before deciding who takes the lead,” Liu Shui’er nodded but added her thoughts.
“No problem, I agree. I’ve heard that Fairy Liu possesses a natural Magnetic Body. I wonder how it compares to my acquired Magnetic Body,” Shi Kun’s eyes gleamed with excitement.
“Each has its strengths. While a natural Magnetic Body allows effortless manipulation, its cultivation is extremely difficult. In contrast, an acquired one like yours can be enhanced easily with external forces,” Liu Shui’er replied calmly.
“But a natural Magnetic Body has the potential for further advancement, something an acquired one can never match. Besides, the suffering I endured to cultivate this body was immense. Fellow Daoist Han, I heard your method differs from mine—you rely on a Magnetic Treasure to wield this power. Is that true?” Shi Kun chuckled before turning to Han Li.
“Indeed. My Magnetic Divine Light is no match for either of yours, so I won’t participate in the comparison,” Han Li replied lightly with a smile.
“If Brother Han insists, I won’t press further. Fairy Liu, shall we spar?” Shi Kun studied Han Li for a moment before conceding and turning to Liu Shui’er.
Without a word, Liu Shui’er rose gracefully into the air, hovering about twenty zhang above the ground. Her intentions were unclear, but she seemed particularly intrigued by Shi Kun’s acquired Magnetic Body.
With a low shout, Shi Kun’s body shimmered with yellow light before he shot into the air, positioning himself opposite the cloaked woman.
Han Li, meanwhile, blurred momentarily, leaving behind a trail of afterimages as he retreated a hundred zhang away, watching the spectacle with an impassive expression.
Though uninterested in competing for the lead role in the joint attack, he was keen to observe the power of the other two’s Magnetic Divine Light.
In the air, Shi Kun roared as his skin darkened into a pitch-black “stone-like” form. He then formed a hand seal, and the yellow glow around him transformed into a murky gray radiance—the unmistakable sign of unleashed Magnetic Divine Light.
“Fairy Liu, here I come!” Shi Kun raised his arm without any further gestures, his fingers splayed as he clawed at the void before him.
A sharp whistling sound erupted as a gray beam shot from his palm, dispersing midair into thousands of thin gray threads that filled the sky with a hissing cacophony.
Han Li narrowed his eyes slightly at the sight.
Liu Shui’er, however, remained composed. With a single hand seal, her graceful figure suddenly blazed with light as a similar gray radiance surged upward, forming a massive wheel about three to four zhang in diameter, rotating slowly.
From the center of the wheel, a wave of gray light unfurled, meeting the incoming threads head-on.
Moments later, the two forces collided and exploded.
Since both shared the same origin, the unique properties of Magnetic Divine Light canceled each other out, leaving only raw power to determine superiority.
Yet, to the astonishment of all three observers, the aftermath of the explosion left neither side victorious—both the threads and the gray radiance dissipated equally, resulting in a draw.
“Good, very good! Now try this!” Shi Kun laughed heartily before clapping his hands together in front of his chest.
His blackened body trembled as the gray light around him intensified, turning him into a blinding gray sun suspended in the sky, too bright to look at directly.
Opposite him, Liu Shui’er’s expression beneath her hood hardened for the first time. Without a word, her fingers flew through an intricate series of seals while she murmured an incantation.
The gray wheel behind her blurred as it spun rapidly, countless runes surging forth before shattering and reforming. In the blink of an eye, an enormous, unknown rune took shape at the wheel’s center.
“Go!”
Shi Kun’s arms blurred as he unleashed hundreds of phantom punches, each transforming into a gray orb the size of a human head, streaking toward Liu Shui’er like a meteor shower.
The deafening roar of the attack filled the sky, its momentum terrifying.
Yet, Liu Shui’er merely snorted coldly before pointing a single jade-like finger toward the onslaught. The gray wheel behind her emitted a resonant hum, halting its rotation as the colossal rune shot forth.
A bizarre scene unfolded. The rune expanded rapidly with gray light, swelling to dozens of zhang in size within moments, blotting out half the sky as it met the incoming orbs.
Silently, the hundreds of gray orbs struck the rune, only to vanish without a trace, as if swallowed by an abyss.
Shi Kun, who had been preparing a second wave of attacks, froze in disbelief before finally laughing bitterly. “I concede. The natural Magnetic Body is truly beyond what we acquired ones can match. With this alone, you’ve rendered yourself invincible.”
True to his straightforward nature, Shi Kun admitted defeat without hesitation and descended back to the ground.
“Fellow Daoist Shi, there’s no need for dismay. Had your attack not been so formidable, I wouldn’t have resorted to this newly mastered technique. In terms of raw power, your strike was nearly on par with mine,” Liu Shui’er replied with a soft laugh before pointing at the giant rune again.
The rune shattered into countless fragments, its remnants swirling back into the gray wheel behind her, which then vanished as she gracefully descended.
“Fairy Liu, no need to spare my feelings. I know my limits. I gave it my all, while you likely only used sixty to seventy percent of your power. Unless Fellow Daoist Han surprises us, I’m far inferior to you in this regard,” Shi Kun admitted candidly.
“If even Brother Shi admits defeat, my Magnetic Divine Light, reliant on an external object, is naturally even less noteworthy,” Han Li remarked with a faintly amused expression.
Though Liu Shui’er and Shi Kun didn’t entirely believe Han Li’s claim, if his power truly stemmed from a mere treasure, it couldn’t possibly rival theirs.
After exchanging a few more polite words, they dropped the matter, unaware that Han Li’s “treasure” was an entire Magnetic Divine Mountain—a fact that would have drastically altered their perceptions.
With the hierarchy settled—Liu Shui’er as the primary, Han Li and Shi Kun as the secondary—the trio set up an illusionary formation to conceal the island’s disarray before commencing their joint training.
Ten days passed without incident, with no outsiders or sea beasts disturbing their practice.
On the fourteenth day, the illusionary formation dissipated as three figures soared into the sky—Han Li, Liu Shui’er, and Shi Kun.
Beneath her hood, Liu Shui’er’s eyes shimmered with satisfaction, Han Li remained composed, and Shi Kun appeared indifferent, suggesting their training had gone smoothly.
“I never expected the joint Magnetic Divine Light technique to come together so effortlessly. In just over ten days, we’ve mastered it,” Liu Shui’er mused aloud.
“That’s largely due to your profound understanding of Magnetic Divine Light, far surpassing ours. This training has benefited both Fellow Daoist Han and me greatly,” Shi Kun chuckled.
“Indeed. I had no idea Magnetic Divine Light could be manipulated in so many ways. My thanks to Fairy Liu for sharing her insights,” Han Li added with a smile.
“You flatter me. My natural Magnetic Body gave me an advantage. Had either of you possessed it, your comprehension would surely exceed mine,” Liu Shui’er demurred.
“Enough pleasantries. Let’s locate the forbidden ruins. We can’t determine our position at sea—we need to reach land to plan our next move,” Shi Kun interjected brusquely.
With no objections from Han Li or Liu Shui’er, the trio summoned their escape lights and sped off into the distance.
