Chapter 1652: Clever Acquisition

“Nothing. We haven’t truly given up yet. After regrouping with the others, we’ll immediately set up an ambush at the exit. If that person wants to leave the Demon Mountain Range, we’ll surely encounter him again.” The small beast hesitated for a moment before speaking with certainty.

Hearing this, the other four demon beasts, including the serpent-headed one, voiced no further objections, seemingly placing absolute trust in the glazed small beast.

With a gust of demonic wind, the five beasts swiftly flew back the way they came.

Meanwhile, Han Li was already a million miles away, flying cautiously while remaining vigilant of his surroundings.

Although he had successfully shaken off his pursuers, his expression remained tense, his brow slightly furrowed.

After fleeing for most of the day, he had completely deviated from his original route. To return to the entrance of the Demon Mountain Range, he would have to take an alternate path.

This posed two problems: first, he was unfamiliar with the new route, and second, he might encounter new demon beasts, which could be troublesome.

However, compared to the hundreds of mid-to-high-tier demon beasts he had faced earlier, he was willing to take this risk.

Of course, the possibility of demon beasts blocking the entrance had crossed his mind, but he dismissed it almost immediately.

As long as no saint-tier demon beasts appeared, he could easily handle the situation—whether by using the Taiyi Transformation Talisman or relying on his own extraordinary speed. It was of little concern to him.

The most pressing matter now was whether Qianqian had managed to escape safely.

If she were to perish unexpectedly, repairing the Sky Demon Armor would become impossible for the time being.

But this was beyond his control. Given her earlier method of escaping the demon beasts, it seemed she still had tricks up her sleeve and would likely emerge unscathed.

As for his formidable enemy, the Gui-surnamed man, Han Li secretly hoped he would meet his end among the demon beasts.

After these considerations, Han Li focused his mind entirely on his journey.

With a burst of cyan light, his speed increased by a third, and after a few flashes, he vanished beyond the horizon.

Traveling alone this time, Han Li flew nonstop for a full day and night.

Along the way, he encountered a few low-tier demon beasts, but with a mere grasp of his hand, he effortlessly crushed them, facing no real trouble.

Now, he was flying over a seemingly low-lying hilly area. Below, black demonic mist churned, nearly submerging most of the hills, leaving only faint outlines of peaks no taller than a hundred zhang.

Suddenly, an earth-shattering explosion erupted from one side, shaking the sky with a deafening roar.

Startled, Han Li halted his cyan light and turned to look in the direction of the noise.

In the distant sky, crimson fire clouds had dyed the entire horizon red. Within the clouds, clusters of white-hot fireballs emerged, exploding one after another and transforming into eerie crimson flames.

The continuous, thunderous rumbles seemed endless.

Han Li’s eyes twitched. Though he didn’t know what was happening, the sheer scale of the disturbance was extraordinary—far beyond what an ordinary Void Refinement cultivator could achieve.

After a brief hesitation, his cyan light flared again as he resumed his original course, this time even faster than before.

He had no intention of getting involved in unnecessary trouble. His goal was simply to leave the Demon Mountain Range as soon as possible, having already reaped considerable rewards. He had no interest in risking further complications.

But fate had other plans.

Just as his cyan light had traveled a few hundred zhang, four streaks of light suddenly shot out from the direction of the fire clouds.

At the forefront was a dazzling purple light, flickering in and out of existence, teleporting directly toward Han Li.

Behind it were three other streaks—one emerald green, another silver, and the last blood-red. Though slightly slower than the purple light, their speed was still astonishing. The moment the sound of their passage reached Han Li, they were already within a hundred zhang of him.

Han Li was momentarily stunned, unsure whether to evade or confront them.

But his hesitation lasted only an instant. With a flick of his sleeve, a layer of gray light silently materialized before him. Simultaneously, a clear chime sounded beneath his feet as countless tiny cyan swords appeared, swirling into the form of a lotus flower that slowly bloomed.

At the same time, his eyes flashed with blue light, allowing him to clearly see the figure within the purple light. His expression turned peculiar.

Inside the purple radiance was a creature with a green face and limbs resembling purple roots. Standing two zhang tall, its expression was wooden, clad in yellow armor resembling withered wood. Purple runes flickered across its body, and a faint medicinal fragrance emanated from it.

“A Spirit Ginseng Immortal!” Han Li recognized it instantly from the jade slips he had studied, his heart surging with both shock and delight.

Though he had never actively sought this creature, if it were delivered to him, that was another matter entirely. Moreover, judging by its incomplete transformation, it seemed the Spirit Ginseng had been discovered before fully recovering from its injuries and had fled in haste.

Han Li’s mind raced, and he quickly made a decision, not even bothering to examine the other pursuers.

With a single hand, he summoned a deep gray radiance, which condensed into a massive gray hand that reached out to seize the purple light.

The Spirit Ginseng inside showed no expression, but its eyes filled with despair.

Despite the approaching hand, it seemed unable to control its own momentum, still hurtling toward Han Li.

With a muffled thud, the gray hand clamped around the Spirit Ginseng’s waist, dispersing the purple light. The hand then retracted, pulling the creature back toward Han Li.

In an instant, the Spirit Ginseng was tightly bound by gray light, appearing right before Han Li.

Startled at first, Han Li quickly grinned in triumph. Without hesitation, he flicked his sleeve, sending over a dozen talismans of various colors flying toward the Spirit Ginseng.

With a series of soft pops, the talismans embedded themselves into the creature’s body, covering it in multicolored runes.

“Stop!”

“You’re dead!”

Shouts of anger erupted from the three pursuing lights, their fury evident at having their prey snatched away.

Ignoring them, Han Li flipped his other hand, producing a cyan jade vial. With a low chant, a beam of cyan light shot out, enveloping the restrained Spirit Ginseng.

In a flash, the towering creature shrank to half a chi in size before being sucked into the vial.

With another flip of his hand, the vial vanished.

By then, the three pursuers had arrived, surrounding Han Li within thirty zhang.

Han Li calmly surveyed them, his expression unreadable.

Though he hadn’t had time to examine them earlier, their spiritual pressure confirmed none were at the Body Integration stage, allowing him to remain composed.

“Eh? It’s Fellow Daoist Han!”

“You!”

The events had unfolded too quickly, and with Han Li’s magnetic light obscuring his form, the pursuers only now recognized him. Two voices rang out simultaneously—one filled with surprise, the other with suspicion.

The third figure, shrouded in bloody light, remained silent but raised both hands, sending two streaks of crimson light slashing toward Han Li.

Han Li’s face darkened as the gray light before him surged, forming a towering barrier that swept forward.

With a sharp tearing sound, the crimson light sliced through most of the gray radiance, nearly breaking through.

But then, a shadowy silhouette of a small black mountain appeared within the gray light.

The crimson streaks struck it and rebounded as if hitting an immovable force.

The gray light then condensed into countless fine threads, entangling the crimson streaks.

Though the bloody blades initially resisted fiercely, they soon slowed, their glow dimming to reveal their true forms—two small, inch-long crimson swords, pulsing with spiritual energy.

In moments, the swords were completely immobilized by the gray threads.

The blood-shrouded figure gasped in shock but quickly regained composure, letting out a sharp cry.

Two muffled explosions sounded within the gray light as the swords self-destructed, dissolving into specks of blood that vanished without a trace.

Simultaneously, space rippled before the blood-cloaked figure, and the two swords reappeared.

“Sword Spirit Materialization!” Han Li’s eyes narrowed sharply as he stared at the figure, his expression turning grim.

By now, he had clearly seen the other two pursuers—one a pale, gray-haired elder, the other a green-haired foreigner with a fierce demeanor. They were none other than the old man surnamed Yan and the green-haired alien he had encountered at the Thundercloud Pavilion.
