At this moment, the twin-headed serpent released by the Six Paths Demon Saint, seemingly following some command from the old demon, suddenly moved. Both heads simultaneously spewed a torrent of inky liquid, transforming into a dense fog of poison that enveloped everything within a dozen yards.
With a loud “boom,” the black light collided with the flying dagger, erupting into a blinding burst of dark radiance. The black light, an unknown treasure, self-destructed, forcefully blocking the demon marrow flying dagger.
In a flash of silver light, the humanoid puppet eerily appeared where the old demon had stood moments before. The poisonous fog surged relentlessly, swallowing it whole. Meanwhile, the black serpent shook its twin heads, preparing to lunge at the puppet.
But in the next instant, a silver lotus, about a foot in size, materialized above the serpent’s heads without warning. From its center, a dazzling seven-colored Buddhist light radiated. The moment the serpent was bathed in this light, it froze, utterly immobilized. Only its four sinister, emerald-green eyes continued to dart about frantically.
Without hesitation, two slender silver threads shot out from the green mist with uncanny precision, wrapping around the serpent’s heads. With a swift motion, both heads tumbled to the ground.
As the green fog churned, the humanoid puppet emerged unharmed, floating leisurely out of the mist.
This black serpent was no ordinary creature. The venom it spewed, while not quite on par with the Ten Absolute Poisons of the cultivation world, was deadly enough to kill most ordinary cultivators instantly upon contact. Its most terrifying trait was its ability to bypass most types of elemental protective barriers, infiltrating them unnoticed. Even a Nascent Soul cultivator caught off guard could perish from its venom.
Had it not been for these lethal qualities, the old demon would not have kept it as a spiritual pet. Yet, the humanoid puppet, being devoid of flesh and blood, was utterly immune to the venom, rendering the serpent’s most potent weapon useless. Thus, the serpent met its swift demise.
One of the two shadowy figures was psychically linked to the serpent. The moment the serpent died, he sensed it, a flicker of fear crossing his eyes. Without looking back, he fled frantically, merely pointing a finger at the distant bone banner as he did so.
The banner trembled slightly before erupting with black light, as if preparing to ascend into the sky. But at that very moment, a flash of cyan lightning appeared above the shadowy figure, and Han Li himself materialized amidst the crackling electricity.
His eyes glowing blue, Han Li glanced downward and waved a hand. A deafening thunderclap echoed as a golden lightning net descended. With his other hand, he summoned a small cyan cauldron, from which countless green threads shot forth, overtaking the lightning net.
Though the old demon’s shadow-cloning technique was incredibly refined, making it impossible to distinguish the real from the illusory with mere spiritual sense, Han Li’s Brightsight Spirit Eyes saw through the deception instantly. The two shadows were laid bare before him, and he immediately identified the true form of the Six Paths Demon Saint.
The shadow representing the Six Paths Demon Saint shuddered in alarm, and six demonic figures emerged from his back, shooting upward. However, these figures were noticeably dimmer and more indistinct than before. Simultaneously, the old demon flicked his sleeve, releasing a blue jade umbrella that expanded rapidly above him, shielding him from the incoming attacks.
With a series of soft “pops,” the six demonic figures clashed with the green threads, momentarily halting their advance. But when the golden lightning arcs crashed down, the demonic figures were obliterated without resistance. The combined force of the lightning and threads then struck the giant umbrella, which, despite its violent flickering, held firm, blocking both attacks.
Seeing this, Han Li’s expression darkened. He reached out, and a golden sword several feet long materialized in his grasp. With a flap of his wings, he transformed into a white streak, vanishing mid-flight.
The old demon below felt a chill of foreboding and attempted to flee, but before he could react, a golden light flashed across the surface of the jade umbrella. With a sharp “crack,” the umbrella was cleanly split in two.
“Ah!” the old demon cried out, enveloping himself in black light as he tried to escape. But before he could move, a white streak reappeared before him, wrapping around him with lightning speed.
With a soft “thud,” the Six Paths Demon Saint found himself unable to evade any longer. A cold sensation spread through his back as a palm wreathed in purple flames pierced through his protective demonic energy, emerging from his chest. His treasured armor offered no resistance.
In excruciating pain, the old demon heard a faint sigh behind him before the purple flames flared, and a layer of violet ice rapidly spread across his body. Within moments, most of his form was encased, on the verge of complete freezing.
His face contorted in agony, the old demon gritted his teeth. With a muffled explosion, the lower half of his body, still unfrozen, burst apart. A rain of blood scattered, transforming into eerie crimson flames that surged toward Han Li.
At the same time, a green light shot from his remains, appearing over thirty yards away in an instant. Within the light was a pitch-black infant clutching a green jade bottle—the old demon’s Nascent Soul.
Han Li waved his sleeve, releasing a surge of purple cold flames that extinguished the demonic fire. Yet, he made no move to pursue the fleeing Nascent Soul, instead watching calmly as it fled in panic.
After several teleportations, the Nascent Soul paused, turning to see Han Li still standing motionless. Confused, it hesitated.
At that moment, a black flying dagger silently materialized above the Nascent Soul, descending without a sound. By the time the Nascent Soul noticed, it was too late. A black flash later, it was cleaved in two.
Silver light flared as another Han Li appeared nearby—the humanoid puppet, having dealt with the twin-headed serpent, had arrived just in time to intercept the Nascent Soul.
But then, something bizarre occurred. The bisected Nascent Soul did not dissipate. Instead, both halves writhed with black energy, splitting into six black threads that shot off in all directions.
The puppet reacted swiftly, fingers flicking as it unleashed over a dozen golden lightning arcs. With a series of thunderous explosions, the black threads were obliterated.
Thus, the once-feared Six Paths Demon Saint, who had dominated the Chaotic Star Seas for centuries, met his final end, body and soul utterly annihilated.
The puppet coolly surveyed the scene, ensuring no remnants remained, before retrieving the lone green bottle floating in the air. Without expression, it flew back to Han Li.
In truth, the old demon was unlucky. His soul-splitting technique was rare and might have allowed a strand of his soul to escape under normal circumstances, giving him a chance to return. But Han Li had encountered a similar technique before in the Mulan Grasslands and had prepared countermeasures. Thus, the puppet used the evil-suppressing golden lightning from the Golden Lightning Bamboo arrows to eradicate all traces of the old demon’s soul fragments.
Had there been any delay, the remnants could have hidden, making them nearly impossible to track.
The puppet handed the green bottle to Han Li, who examined it with interest. Before he could open it, however, a chorus of ghostly wails echoed from afar.
Han Li looked up toward the Five Ghosts of the Five Elements. Without the old demon’s control, the bone banner’s power had waned, and the five ghosts had regained the upper hand. Yet, the three skulls on the banner, remnants of formidable cultivators in life, resisted fiercely, their eyes flashing with green light in a display of unyielding fury.
Frowning, Han Li activated a spell, commanding the five ghosts. Three of them transformed into skeletal figures, while the other two disengaged from the mist dragon and retreated.
Before the skulls and the black mist dragon could counterattack, the five ghosts simultaneously formed hand seals and opened their mouths, spewing five streams of differently colored cold flames. These merged into a sea of five-colored fire that surged forward.
The black mist dragon met the flames first, but upon contact, its movements slowed drastically, as if time had decelerated around it. The five ghosts let out a unified cry, and countless five-colored ice blades materialized within the fire, slicing the dragon into countless fragments that vanished into the flames.
