Chapter 806: Calamity

After carefully reading Calv’s works, even Wu Ming had to admit that this guy was practically asking for death.

He had actually summoned abominations and evil deities from the inner world directly. Even though bound by contracts and guarantees, those divine abominations and evil gods, whose essence was deeply imprinted with chaos, would not care about such trivialities at all!

“Still… aren’t spellcasters always a group of death-seekers when it comes to exploring the unknown? Especially wizards!”

Wu Ming put away the book, sent off the excited old wizard, and suddenly his eyes gleamed.

“Come out!”

He looked toward a corner of the courtyard. “If I couldn’t even notice an outsider entering here, I would’ve been dead countless times already!”

“Wu Ming, you’re joking. I come bearing goodwill!”

A dry, raspy voice suddenly emerged from the corner of the yard.

As the voice spoke, the space there began to distort, with invisible lines twisting into the shape of a portal.

A crystal-like skull, glowing with two points of ghostly fire in its eye sockets, slowly squeezed itself out of the void.

Every tooth on this skull was clearly crafted from the finest spell gems, each priceless beyond measure. Moreover, Wu Ming could sense intense bindings and malevolent aura emanating from its semi-transparent skeletal frame.

Clearly, this was no mere skeleton, but a lich!

In the entire Saint Yaleward, spells like teleportation were strictly forbidden. Therefore, whoever managed to create a portal here and gain access would naturally be identified.

“Are you from the Council?”

Wu Ming directly asked, as he looked at the crystal skeleton fully revealed before him.

“Yes, I am Monty Vigen D. Roger…”

The crystal lich announced a long string of names, concluding with a summarizing tone, “…but His Supreme Majesty can simply call me ‘Monty.'”

“I suppose it’s about time you found me!”

Wu Ming nodded, not showing the least bit of surprise.

An Eastern wizard from abroad, and a high-tier practitioner at that, was already enough to draw attention in Saint Yaleward. Even more so when this high-level spellcaster was urgently seeking information about the inner world and other dimensions!

At the high-tier practitioner level, equivalent to the Eastern masters, it was difficult to remain unknown. Moreover, Wu Ming had made no effort to conceal his identity along the way. Thus, it wasn’t particularly surprising that these wizards had noticed and connected the dots.

The being now standing before Wu Ming was a lich comparable to a true god—Monty the Flamebearer!

Before becoming a lich, Monty had been a famous legendary wizard in the Western lands, even having several legendary disciples. He was renowned for once summoning fire meteors to incinerate rebellious cities opposing spellcasters, making him a fearsome figure whose name alone could silence crying children throughout neighboring federations and kingdoms.

After transforming into a lich, Monty had further accessed the world’s power, becoming a genuine god-tier lich and a powerful figure within the Council.

However, despite all the prestige surrounding him, compared to Wu Ming at this moment, he was practically nothing.

Supreme God!

These three words alone were enough to explain everything.

“Your Majesty… please forgive my rudeness. I am just too excited…”

Looking at Wu Ming, Monty bowed and explained, “…and moreover, out of responsibility for the entire city, I had to act this way…”

Inside, however, he was extremely surprised.

Previously, it had only been a guess. Now, after coming here in person and confirming it, there was no doubt about the Supreme God’s identity.

“Indeed… this being ascended from a mortal to godhood. He feels completely different from all the other divine lords!”

Monty’s thoughts raced rapidly at this moment.

“We are both transcendent beings, having touched the essence of the world. I merely took the first step. There’s no need to be so formal!”

Wu Ming’s expression turned solemn as he gently raised his hand.

The previous old wizard, unaware of Wu Ming’s true identity, could still interact with him calmly. But for Monty to achieve the same, how could that be possible?

Talin! Is the opponent’s energy fluctuation still the same as an ordinary spellcaster?

The ghostly flames in its eye sockets flickered incessantly. Seeing the feedback from the Tower Spirit only deepened its frustration: “The city’s defenses are practically nonexistent in the face of such a mighty being.”

Previously, the supreme beings in both the East and West had been in the state of merging with the Dao, becoming embodiments of rules, rarely appearing in person.

As for the 6th and 7th-tier true gods, they were restricted by the main world and couldn’t remain in it constantly.

Thus, wizards indeed knew very little about true gods, let alone supreme beings.

For example, they didn’t know that with the might of a Great Dao practitioner, the main world posed no resistance to Wu Ming at all, allowing him to wield his peak power anytime.

Of course, even with their complete lack of knowledge about the supreme beings, these wizards dared not show any disrespect.

After all, years of cooperation and confrontation with the churches and Western pantheons had made them fully aware that even the churches of deities on the mortal plane were formidable. How much more so would the deities themselves be?

“Hearing that the Supreme Emperor is collecting information about other dimensions and the inner world, our Council has prepared a small gift for the Emperor!”

Monty’s ghostly flame flickered once more as he flatteredly presented a spatial ring.

Inside the ring were obviously numerous top-tier literature and documents regarding the inner world and other dimensions, many of which were not even recorded in the Wizard’s Grand Library.

“Oh? Unfortunately… I know your Western spellcasters’ rules—equivalent exchange, right?”

Wu Ming didn’t hurry to take the ring but instead asked with interest, “So what do you want in return?”

“Actually…”

It was hard to imagine, but Monty’s skeletal face somehow managed to convey a sense of difficulty. “Mighty Supreme Emperor, a catastrophe is about to befall the main world!”

He got straight to the point. “Has the Emperor ever observed the inner world up close? According to our Council’s records over the past few centuries, it has become increasingly polluted, even exceeding the world’s capacity! If left unchecked, calamity is inevitable!”

While saying this, Monty the Lich displayed a very compassionate demeanor, making it hard to associate him with his infamous past of city destruction.

“The inner world exceeding its capacity?”

Wu Ming slightly furrowed his brow. “Don’t the supreme gods maintain the operation of the rules? Wouldn’t they notice?”

“We are also quite puzzled about this!”

The lich Monty opened his mouth, the various gemstones clinking together with a crisp sound. “Perhaps… the previous emperors of the East and West considered it a minor matter, and… now that you are here, things are different!”

“I’m not anyone’s savior!”

Seeing these wizards actually regard him as a savior, Wu Ming couldn’t help but feel both amused and exasperated.

“Do you at least have evidence for these claims?”

Wu Ming asked solemnly.

Even for him, he only knew about the inner world’s anomalies through the Ouroboros’ otherworldly realm. He hadn’t expected the situation to be this severe.

“No!”

Monty indeed looked somewhat embarrassed. “However, all of this has been calculated using our latest fission theory, and simulation charts have also been made. The likelihood of errors is very low!”

“Even so, what do you plan to do about it?”

Wu Ming questioned. “This main world isn’t exclusive to our human race. Other races and their supreme gods, haven’t they noticed anything either?”

Actually, in his heart, he had already begun to believe this hypothesis.

Because this was exactly the evil consequence sown by the gods themselves back then.

All the true gods of the entire world, including both the Eastern and Western pantheons, as well as the deities of other races, had been using the inner world as a dumping ground, sealing and exiling various divine abominations and evil entities there.

In other words, the changes in the inner world were closely tied to the interests of the gods of the main world. If they couldn’t see the mountain for the leaf in front of their eyes, they certainly wouldn’t discover anything now.

“Low-tier gods can’t change it. Mid-tier gods need it, and even the supreme gods are restricted by the rules and can’t act freely…”

Wu Ming only needed to lower his head slightly to understand the truth.

In short, the inner world was now bound together with the entire pantheon of the main world, including even the gods of other races. Therefore, this issue had been postponed again and again until now, with no solution at all.

The accumulated darkness and sins would eventually erupt one day; the only difference was when and how severe the damage would be.

“I wonder what form this world’s disaster will take?”

A question suddenly arose in Wu Ming’s mind.

And he was very clear that the answer he needed would definitely not be found in the books gifted by Monty.

If it were truly there, they wouldn’t be so desperately seeking his help.

“You’re all underestimating the inner world too much!”

Seeing this, Wu Ming shook his head and said, “It is also a part of our world, even taking up half of its area. Do you really think the problem can still be solved after being postponed until now?”

“Even the Supreme Gods…”

The ghostly fire in Monty’s eye sockets flickered intensely, betraying the turmoil within him.

“Well… actually, it’s hard to say for sure!”

Before seeing the actual situation, Wu Ming also found it difficult to make a definitive judgment.

However, if his suspicions proved true, the entire main world would soon face a catastrophe.

Compared to this impending disaster, even the historical calamities and inter-racial wars would seem like mere child’s play.

“I understand…”

Monty nodded gravely, his voice heavy with seriousness: “We have already made some progress in exploring the inner world and established several observation points. If the Supreme Emperor could participate, we would be extremely grateful. After all, this not only concerns us humans but is also a matter of life and death for the entire main world’s future.”

“Don’t overestimate your importance, nor underestimate the resilience of our world!”

Upon hearing this, Wu Ming sneered. “Even if the inner world erupts, our world will find its own way out… Of course, whether humans and other races survive is another matter entirely…”
