“Unit One, stand by! It’s breaking through in your direction!”
As the anxious voice came through the radio, one of the hovering Black Hawk helicopters above the city abruptly changed course, descending slowly. The sniper atop it focused intently through the scope.
Bang!
On one side of the street, the manhole cover was violently smashed open. A blood-soaked werewolf burst out, exposed directly to the sunlight.
“Oh my god…”
Not only the police officers pulling up the cordon, but many citizens as well, witnessed the scene, letting out shrieks of horror.
“I authorize you to open fire without restraint—kill it!”
The voice over the radio was clearly furious: “Be careful! It’s very resilient!”
“Understood!”
The sniper’s hand was as steady as if forged from steel, his finger resting on the trigger.
A strong sense of danger caused the werewolf on the ground to let out a deafening roar: “Awooo!”
It suddenly lifted its head, its emerald eyes locking onto the aircraft midair.
“Die!”
The sniper silently muttered, already aiming at the werewolf’s head.
“Chirp! Chirp!”
But at that moment, a flock of black birds suddenly flew in from the sky, pecking at the helicopter and getting caught in the propeller, turning into a mess of flesh and blood, causing the entire Black Hawk to shake violently.
Bang!!!
Caught off guard, the sniper fired a shot that slightly deviated, exploding a spray of blood from the werewolf’s shoulder.
“Awooo!”
It howled furiously, using both hands and feet to climb up the wall, quickly disappearing from the sight of those on the ground.
“Damn it…where did those birds come from!”
The voice over the radio was furious: “We need to make an emergency landing!”
Helicopters rely on their rotors to hover midair, and once there’s a problem with the propulsion, the consequences could be catastrophic.
Without the assistance of the aircraft, it would be extremely difficult for the ground personnel to locate Siegel again in the city with just the naked eye.
“Damn it, how did it escape?”
Senior officials from the Special Investigations Unit and high-ranking inspectors were furious: “Re-deploy the police force, seal off the customs, and conduct a grid search!”
…
“Huff…huff…huff…”
In a dark alley beside the street, a werewolf was panting heavily. Suddenly, its fur receded, transforming into a naked man.
The terrible wounds were inherited along with the transformation, most horrifyingly on the chest and shoulder, where most of the flesh had been torn away, revealing a faintly pulsing heart. No one could imagine how he had survived.
“What a mess…”
Spitting out a mouthful of blood, Siegel’s face suddenly showed fear: “I never thought I’d have to use that artifact!”
He tore open a scroll covered in dark patterns, on which was an image of a face stained in blood.
“Hehehe!”
The face laughed eerily. Siegel shuddered and placed his blood-soaked right hand on the image. The pattern immediately came to life, greedily sucking in the blood.
Gurgle! Gurgle!
A large amount of blood was sucked away, seemingly taking something else with it, causing Siegel’s face to turn deathly pale.
No one could tell how long it had been sucking, but finally, the face spat out a glob of greenish pus.
Sizzle!
Amidst a lot of white smoke, a miracle occurred!
Siegel’s wounds began to heal automatically, and even his flesh started to regrow, rapidly knitting back together.
“A scroll of the Dark Prayer technique that can only be used three times…and it’s not even mine!”
Siegel stood up, his face showing more helplessness: “This time, I spent ten years of my life to gain a chance to heal serious injuries. What a loss! Just as those time-travelers said, the deity or demon behind this scroll must be a vampire!”
This scroll belonged to his team and was temporarily entrusted to him. Although the cost was enormous, it was also an incredible item. One could imagine the fury of their team leader when he discovered Siegel’s breach of trust.
But all that was for the future. If he hadn’t used it now, he would have died immediately!
Once the greenish pus was completely absorbed, Siegel looked no different from an ordinary person, aside from a slightly pale complexion.
However, if there were others present at this moment, and they observed carefully, they would find that Siegel had changed somehow. He exuded an eerie charm and aura.
“I should leave now…but before that…”
He twitched his nose and suddenly darted in another direction.
With his full strength restored and even improved, he had already detected someone tailing him, and it wasn’t a regular officer—it was another esper.
“Little guy, you’ve got a good nose!”
At the end of the alley, a man dressed in a black suit and tie, with pale skin, stood quietly, his face showing displeasure: “Do you know how much trouble you’ve caused? My comrades are keeping those aircraft busy for you right now, or you wouldn’t have made it here…Newly awakened ones are indeed the most troublesome. Alright, come with me!”
“Wait! Why should I go with you?”
Siegel found it amusing.
“You’re a werewolf, one of the Dark Bloodlines. You should naturally join our Crimson Hand!”
Joseph’s face darkened: “Do you think I’d willingly come to rescue you, you idiot and fool! Provoking the entire Royal Gold Oak’s police force to hunt you down, even a fat pig would be a million times smarter than you! You stupid dog!”
“Crazy!”
Siegel understood a little. This person clearly belonged to another faction, seemingly part of some Dark Bloodline group. Unfortunately, his werewolf bloodline had been purchased in the Main God Space, having absolutely nothing to do with the real world.
“Crimson Hand, Dark Bloodlines…”
Siegel frowned, staring at the man in front of him. For some reason, he found the man’s presence quite repulsive. Seeing the man’s pale skin, Siegel suddenly realized: “You’re a vampire?”
“Huh?”
Joseph was surprised: “How come your bloodline instinct is so weak?”
Werewolves were typically violent and quick to anger, and werewolves and vampires had a centuries-long history of enmity and slaughter. This hatred was deeply imprinted in their blood and genes.
But now, this young fellow in front of him merely showed slight caution, which was quite unexpected for Joseph.
He had originally thought the other would attack without hesitation, giving him the chance to teach him a lesson. After all, in his and that woman’s opinion, unless they properly disciplined this little fool, he wouldn’t follow them.
“I’m not interested in the Crimson Hand!”
Siegel turned and walked away.
He also had his pride! The entire Main God Space was his backing, so why should he care about a small organization like the Crimson Hand?
“Indeed…still so immature! You could have deceived us until you left Leviathan City and then turned on us.”
Joseph shook his head, and suddenly his body emitted a series of cracking sounds: “But it’s better this way. I’ll just have to subdue you by force!”
“So you still want to fight?”
Siegel’s right hand grew fur, his nails extending and sharpening into a wolf claw.
“Partial Werewolf Transformation! Damn! That’s a high-level werewolf ability…”
Joseph exclaimed in shock.
He hadn’t seen Siegel’s performance in the underground tunnels and mistakenly estimated Siegel’s strength as that of a young werewolf, which led to his shameful defeat.
“Awooo!”
At the next moment of his shock, Siegel let out a roar, almost instantly appearing before him.
Swish!
A flash of claws, and Joseph’s sleeve turned to shreds. Prominent claw marks appeared on his pale, delicate skin.
“Very well, you’ve truly enraged me!”
Joseph’s expression changed, his wounds healing rapidly as his entire body seemed to transform into a black shadow: “Now I’ll show you what real vampire speed is!”
Whoosh!
He emitted a sharp sound, and his speed suddenly surged.
“Awooo!”
But in front of him, Siegel roared, his eyes turning blood-red. His hand speed increased dramatically, suddenly grabbing Joseph’s arm and swinging him fiercely.
Compared to a werewolf’s strength, especially when enraged, vampires were completely at a disadvantage.
Thud!
With a dull sound, Joseph was slammed against the wall like a large black bat, sprawling and slowly sliding down.
“Cough… cough…”
He spat out a mouthful of blood, his eyes even more astonished: “Impossible… You’ve just awakened, how could you have mastered the rage ability of an adult werewolf!”
“Never come after me again!”
Siegel proudly declared.
After his injuries were healed, he was immediately filled with confidence to break through, not caring at all about the Crimson Hand’s recruitment.
Leaving those words behind, he looked outside and quickly disappeared.
…
“God, if that woman saw this, she would laugh at me for a hundred years…”
When Joseph finally got up from the ground in a very awkward state, he immediately screamed furiously: “Where did that punk come from? Not even a bit of respect for his seniors… Sigh… How could I possibly lose to a newly awakened dumb dog? It must be an illusion!”
Although he wanted to convince himself otherwise, his injuries still caused a flash of crimson in his eyes.
As a vampire, he could heal his wounds by drinking a large amount of human blood. At this moment, he twitched his nose and his face suddenly showed ecstatic delight: “There are people!”
“Did Siegel come through here earlier?”
Several figures slowly approached. The leader was none other than Bob, followed closely by two men in sunglasses who looked like bodyguards.
“Ordinary humans?”
Joseph licked his lips: “You’re just asking for it. Be good food for Master Joseph!”
His mouth curled into a grin, revealing his fangs, and he darted forward like the wind.
Bob’s face showed a hint of disdain. One of the black bodyguards behind him rushed forward and threw a punch!
Bang!
With a loud crash, Joseph was once again plastered against the wall like a painting.
