Chapter 688: The Mind

Lord Andaniel, although a standard noble, was notoriously known within high society for his excessive indulgence in debauchery and gambling. The tales of his misdeeds were so numerous they could not be recounted in three days and three nights.

Jaime had only stayed at the banquet for half a day before he began to feel that the upper echelon he had imagined was completely overturned.

“Hahaha…”

Seeing Andaniel indulging in sensual pleasures amidst numerous fair arms and feminine laughter, Wu Ming softly asked Jaime, “So, how do you feel about these so-called elites?”

“Feel… well, it’s really…”

Jaie’s lips twitched slightly. In front of his son, despite the abundance of seductive beauties, he dared not take a single step out of line.

He awkwardly replied, “Let’s greet Lord Andaniel and then go home. If we return too late, your mother might get angry…”

When an opportunity presented itself, Jaime and Wu Ming approached Andaniel to offer a toast: “Your Lordship, I am Jaime Sterling from Vicking Trading. May you be healthy!”

“Mm-hmm…”

Andaniel continued flirting with the dancing girl beside him while gulping down a large glass of strong liquor, muttering, “Vicking Trading… Right, I remember. Its head is a shrewd fellow, and I’ve heard he has a good son too. Anyway, go find my agent later, and he will discuss cooperation with you!”

“Truly… thank you so much!”

Unexpectedly agreeable, Lord Andaniel left Jaime excited and somewhat incoherent.

“Haha… After all, we are friends, right?”

Andaniel’s eyes had already shifted to other women. Seeing this, Jaime immediately prepared to take his leave.

“Are you planning to leave already?”

Just then, a sharp voice rang out.

“Wade, it’s you!”

Seeing his rival appear, Jaime’s expression immediately turned sour.

“Your Lordship! Please allow me to introduce these two nieces of mine, Miranda and Milanko!”

Wade had two thin mustaches like a mouse’s whiskers, looking quite energetic, with two tall and attractive sisters following behind him—both possessing remarkably pure appearances.

He cast a provocative smile at Jaime: “Jaime wants to leave now, clearly implying that your Lordship’s wine and beauties aren’t good enough…”

Although it was obviously a provocation, Jaime was instantly furious.

“Wade, you bastard!”

He couldn’t believe how shameless his opponent was—daring not only to openly confront him but also to bring his own female relatives to seduce Lord Andaniel.

Given the lecherous nature of this lord, it seemed this provocation would be highly effective.

“We pay homage to Your Lordship!”

Miranda and Milanko curtsied, their faces identical, their skin fair and delicate, resembling pure young maidens and naturally evoking goodwill. Their faces were slightly flushed, appearing somewhat shy.

Almost all the men present were captivated by the sisters, their hearts aflame.

“Tch!”

However, Lord Andaniel merely scoffed disdainfully: “Women should be more flirtatious to be appealing… Wade, are you questioning my taste by bringing these two young girls?”

“What… what did you say?”

Wade stood there stunned, while Miranda and Milanko, the twin beauties, looked equally humiliated and furious.

“I may like women, but I still have principles. Money upfront, goods delivered—fair trade is the best! Now you bring these two girls here, trying to trap me?”

Lord Andaniel was a notorious rake within the kingdom. Though he had a fiancée, he stubbornly refused to marry, preferring to frequent nightspots and brothels.

Yet now, hearing him speak so solemnly about principles, Wu Ming couldn’t help but feel like laughing.

“My sincere apologies, Your Lordship!”

Wade’s status was no higher than Jaime’s. Facing the mockery of a superior, despite his cheek seemingly being slapped swollen, he still had to smile and offer the other cheek.

“I will immediately take them away and bring someone else…”

“Right, don’t forget to tip!”

Lord Andaniel earnestly reminded him, then winked at Wu Ming.

“Huh?”

That flirtatious expression immediately gave Wu Ming a sense of understanding: “Is he trying to… show favor to me? Does he know me?!”

As a student at Binford University, he wasn’t yet someone a noble of the kingdom would remember. Wu Ming guessed that unless it was related to the Hawk family at Victoria Port, it must be the Redemption Church!

Only with these two identities could Lord Andaniel possibly hold him in high regard.

“It seems this guy, beneath his reputation of debauchery, isn’t just an empty shell after all…”

Regardless, Wu Ming noted this kindness and, together with Jaime, left the venue after being seen off by the lord.

“Unbelievable!”

Inside the carriage, Jaime still wanted to chatter on: “Did you see Wade’s face just now? It was so priceless… Haha…”

“Yeah.”

Wu Ming answered absentmindedly, one hand supporting his chin.

Although he had encountered an intriguing Andaniel at the banquet, he remained more interested in that mysterious woman who seemed to recognize Angelina’s uniqueness.

“The mermaid has been located. Time to move in!”

In the corner of his own villa in the affluent district, Wu Ming found a signal left by Diya, its meaning crystal clear.

“Good!”

Wu Ming lowered his head, a glint of coldness flashing in his pupils.

Late at night.

Wu Ming quietly left his room and went outside.

“Boss!”

Several streets away, Diya personally drove a black car to pick him up: “You’re really… young!”

Recalling her previous meeting with him, she felt even more apprehensive, sensing that beneath Wu Ming’s youthful exterior, there seemed to dwell an ancient monster.

With his current strength and influence, Wu Ming no longer hesitated to let Diya know part of his affairs.

“Where is the target?”

He sat in the back seat and directly asked.

Vroom!

The boiler burned, and the steam-powered car sped off.

Diya gripped the steering wheel, not turning her head: “I’ve been tailing Miss Angelina for several days and finally found that woman’s trail. She seems very interested in Miss Angelina…”

“As for now, she’s staying in the suburbs, renting a private villa.”

She answered while silently pitying whoever had drawn the boss’s attention.

“Take me there!”

Wu Ming closed his eyes, his short words carrying an indescribable force, as if his words themselves were law.

Boom!

“The villa is just ahead!”

Diya’s words suddenly stopped halfway.

With Wu Ming’s eyesight, he could already see at the road’s end, inside a villa, a sudden surge of energy shattered the windows, sending curtains fluttering like butterflies.

“Not our people!”

Diya immediately judged: “I only gave them orders to watch. No one would dare to act on their own!”

“In other words… other forces?”

Wu Ming said indifferently: “But it doesn’t matter. Wait here for me!”

Whoosh!

A dark shadow flashed, and he had already vanished from the back seat. Even as Diya strained her eyes, she couldn’t figure out how he left.

Whoosh!

Wu Ming’s figure seemed to transform into a gust of wind, swiftly blowing into the villa.

Bang! Bang!

Inside, the air exploded even more violently, faintly accompanied by a beast’s roar.

“You won’t escape, Fafna!”

A man’s roar came.

Wu Ming swiftly entered and immediately saw a man and a woman facing off in the hall.

The man’s muscles bulged like a muscular giant, while the woman opposite him had red hair, a tall figure, and a beautiful face. Most crucially, the scent of orchid and musk emanating from her body instantly confirmed to Wu Ming that she was the one he sought.

“You people have noses sharper than dogs!”

The woman named Fafna grumbled: “I just lingered a bit too long in this city, and you found me!”

“Witchcraft is too dangerous, especially the mind witchcraft of your lineage. It shouldn’t exist in this world!”

The giant rumbled, suddenly throwing a punch.

Bang!

With his monstrous strength, the air before him seemed compressed, forming a projectile that shot out.

“Black Goat!”

Wu Ming’s eyes shifted, immediately seeing a shadowy figure emerge from the woman—a creature with a goat’s head and a black humanoid body, merging with the shadows.

“Roar!”

The shadow transformed into the monster, roaring and wielding a steel fork.

Bang!

After another violent air explosion, Fafna stepped back several paces, her face showing anger: “Damn… these Watchers have too strong defenses!”

If not for that matter, why would she have stayed in Caspar City for so long, pursued by this terrifying creature.

“I must leave… Unfortunately, I still haven’t led that young girl onto the right path. She is the last hope of our school!”

Fafna quickly retreated, her body as light as paper.

“I will definitely return!”

She silently vowed, then summoned a mental projection.

It was a swordsman clad in armor, wielding a longsword as if weightless, firmly engaging the giant.

Meanwhile, Fafna reached the windowsill, gritting her teeth, ready to jump.

“Go back!”

But at that moment, a voice came from in front of her.

“Someone else!”

Fafna’s eyes shot out sharp light, like two short swords aiming at the dark figure’s eyes.

“Dominate!”

From her mouth came the cold two words, and simultaneously, Wu Ming felt an intrusion of mental force.

“This is a mind witch? Interesting! Unfortunately, it’s far from enough to deal with me!”

A cold smile appeared on his lips: “Get back!”
