Chapter 365: Me, an Alien

There was no response in the room.

Ning Qiuer was still frightened, which was normal. She had thought she had already shaken off the person following her, yet suddenly he appeared at her house at night. Combined with the scene moments ago, it was indeed quite eerie.

Knocking on the door again and still receiving no reply, Xia Yu spoke up once more, “If you won’t open the door, I’ll squeeze through the crack!”

Another shriek rang out, and Xia Yu saw that the light coming through the crack under the door had now been blocked.

“…”

Did this idiot actually believe that?

Well, maybe he shouldn’t scare her further anymore.

Going downstairs, Xia Yu opened the refrigerator in the kitchen. Inside were various beverages, even fruit wine. Picking up a bottle of orange juice, Xia Yu checked the production date—it was October of this year, and now it was only December. The date was very fresh.

It seemed that Ning Qiuer must frequently come here to stay, or someone regularly cleaned and refreshed the items in the villa.

Putting the orange juice back, Xia Yu took a bottle of Sprite, sat on the sofa, pulled out some potato chips from under the coffee table, turned on the TV, and began watching and eating.

After three hours, Liu Manman called.

Following his instructions from memory, Liu Manman arrived at the villa with An Siyao.

Hearing the engine sound, Xia Yu opened the villa door and saw Liu Manman and An Siyao stepping out of the car.

This greatly surprised Xia Yu.

Pulling An Siyao aside, Xia Yu asked, “Why did you come too? It’s dangerous at night.”

Hearing this, Liu Manman raised her eyebrows, “When you asked me to come, why didn’t you say it was dangerous then?”

After three seconds of silence, Xia Yu looked at Liu Manman sincerely, “Because I believe in your ability.”

“Hehe.” Liu Manman scratched her head and believed him.

As he marveled at how easily these young girls could be fooled, Xia Yu turned to An Siyao beside him. She held his hand and said, “I can do it too.”

Pinching her cheek, Xia Yu whispered, “I’m not confident enough about that.”

“There’s me.” A voice came from behind him.

Turning around, Xia Yu saw Hu Lianglu.

Indeed, with Hu Lianglu present, it was somewhat safer. But ultimately, Hu Lianglu was just an ordinary girl, unable to even fight off a petty thug.

Maybe he could train her?

Putting this matter aside for now, Xia Yu led everyone into the villa.

“Where is Qiuer?” Liu Manman asked.

“Upstairs in her room. Go bring her down.” Although Liu Manman had arrived, making direct inquiries was no longer appropriate. Still, it was better than Ning Qiuer hiding from him.

“If she’s here, why didn’t she reply to my messages?” Liu Manman asked again.

Xia Yu pointed to the pink phone on the coffee table, indicating that Ning Qiuer couldn’t see any messages right now.

Taking Ning Qiuer’s phone, Liu Manman went upstairs. Since Ning Qiuer had blocked the crack in the door, Liu Manman couldn’t determine which room she was in from the light. So she shouted loudly.

Inside the room, Ning Qiuer saw Liu Manman’s arrival from the window. Her mood had actually already calmed down, but she hadn’t figured out how to face Xia Yu yet. Her earlier behavior had been quite childish.

Hearing Liu Manman’s voice, she opened the door.

Seeing Ning Qiuer, Liu Manman immediately hugged her.

Feeling Liu Manman’s warm embrace, Ning Qiuer’s previously stiff expression softened.

Until Liu Manman asked, “What are you going to do about the child?”

“There is no child!” Ning Qiuer hit Liu Manman’s back hard.

Considering that Ning Qiuer was pregnant, Liu Manman didn’t dwell on it and continued, “Don’t worry, I’ve already brought An Siyao. You two can directly discuss a feasible plan!”

“He lied to you to find out where I live, you idiot actually believed him,” Ning Qiuer revealed the truth. “I have a piano piece he wants, and he wanted to know about the piece.”

“Eh?” Liu Manman’s face showed three parts surprise and seven parts disappointment, and she sighed.

Pulling Liu Manman downstairs, Ning Qiuer met Xia Yu.

The two exchanged glances, then silently communicated with the others for a while, brought out some games for them to play, and went to the balcony.

Drawing the curtains, the large floor-to-ceiling window made the night sky seem especially close. Although some stars were still obscured by light pollution, many more were visible than in the city.

“How did you get here?” Ning Qiuer asked first.

“I was in the back seat of your car.” Xia Yu didn’t fully answer, waiting for Ning Qiuer to ask how he got into the car.

But Ning Qiuer didn’t ask. She looked out the window at the night sky, her hands gripping her arms tightly.

“So, am I your test subject? What are you going to do with me?” Her voice was low and trembling.

“??? What do you mean by test subject? What do you mean by ‘what am I going to do with you’?”

Xia Yu didn’t understand, but he realized why Ning Qiuer had run away—she considered him a villain.

“I just wanted to know where the Moonlight Sonata came from. I don’t plan to, and can’t, do anything to you. After all, the First District is a society governed by law.” Xia Yu half-truthfully said.

“Do even aliens have to obey the laws of the First District?” Ning Qiuer looked at Xia Yu in surprise.

“Don’t mention aliens—even if it’s another planet or another world, they must follow the First District’s regulations.” Xia Yu joked. “Of course, this is just my guess, because I’m just an ordinary person.”

“Really?” Ning Qiuer became delighted. A shared race naturally brings a sense of security and trust.

“What do I look like—an alien?” Xia Yu was instead surprised that she thought that.

“Then how did you suddenly appear in my car?” Ning Qiuer countered.

“… I said you didn’t ask further. I took a shortcut from the pedestrian street, got ahead of you, and jumped into your car.” Xia Yu rubbed his forehead. “You’re already grown up. Can’t you act more maturely? Where would there be aliens!”

“That’s impossible. I was driving so fast, how could you jump in?” Ning Qiuer didn’t believe Xia Yu.

To gain her trust, Xia Yu could only demonstrate. He took out his phone.

“Throw it at me with all your strength.” He handed the phone to Ning Qiuer.

Ning Qiuer threw the phone at Xia Yu’s arm with all her might, but it landed steadily in Xia Yu’s hand.

“Do you believe me now?” Xia Yu put the phone back into his pocket.

Ning Qiuer nodded, basically convinced.

“Now, let’s talk about the Moonlight Sonata. Where did you get this piano piece?” Finally able to learn the truth, Xia Yu put his hands in his pockets, stood straight, and felt somewhat nervous.

“In a dream.” Ning Qiuer answered.

“In a dream?” Xia Yu took his hands out of his pockets and stroked his chin.

This answer surprised him. He originally had two guesses: one was that Ning Qiuer was from Earth like him, and the other was that she was the body he had used when he time-traveled into the past.

Both could explain why Ning Qiuer knew about the Moonlight Sonata, and the latter could better explain why her songs contained two of his melodies.

But the answer was a dream.

“Can you be more specific?” Xia Yu wanted to find more clues.

“Just a dream. You’ve had them too, right? Like dreaming that you wrote a poem. But most people forget the details after waking up. I just remembered clearly.” Ning Qiuer used hand gestures to try to increase the credibility of her words.

Scratching her head, she added, “I even thought the dream was some experiment of yours, you alien.”

Leaning against the window, Xia Yu pondered Ning Qiuer’s words.

Dreaming of composing music—though a bit unbelievable, he could barely accept it. But the Moonlight Sonata was clearly not something that could be composed.

“Is there anything wrong with that piece?” Seeing Xia Yu silent, Ning Qiuer asked nervously.

“It’s a piece written by a friend of mine.” Xia Yu casually lied.

Since Ning Qiuer wasn’t from Earth, of course he wouldn’t tell her the truth.

He asked her again, “When you were composing in your dream, what exactly was your state?”

“I just dreamed I was singing,” Ning Qiuer answered. “And scenes of playing games.”

“Did you stop having these dreams in recent years?” Xia Yu asked, referring to the fact that Ning Qiuer had stopped her celebrity activities.

At this question, Ning Qiuer became alert, “What does that have to do with you?”

“The song’s credit can be given to you too.” Xia Yu offered as a condition.

“Yes, the composing dreams stopped. They’ve all become ordinary dreams now.” Ning Qiuer immediately revealed the situation.

Nodding, Xia Yu said, “I’ll give you a song every two months.”

“What’s your motive?” Ning Qiuer wasn’t like Liu Manman and those innocent girls. She knew Xia Yu must have some hidden motive. No one would give long-term benefits to someone who had no use.

“I might need you in the future.” Turning around, Xia Yu returned to the living room.

He pulled Hu Lianglu away from clinging to An Siyao and monopolized the girl’s side.

Ning Qiuer also came to Liu Manman’s side. Liu Manman looked at her friend, then at Xia Yu, thinking to herself: They talked secretly on the balcony for so long. Don’t tell me there’s nothing between them?

Grasping Ning Qiuer’s hand, Liu Manman said earnestly, “Be careful.”

“Okay.” Having revealed all her secrets, Ning Qiuer was panicking inside and didn’t notice the hidden meaning in Liu Manman’s words.

This made Liu Manman even more convinced.

She sighed in relief. Fortunately, she hadn’t listened to her grandmother and had any development with Xia Yu. Otherwise, she might have been caught in such a complicated relationship too.

After a while, the maid Liu Manman brought prepared dinner. Xia Yu and Ning Qiuer, who had been hungry all evening, ate dinner, and everyone played together.

As it approached dawn, Xia Yu pretended to be extremely tired and went to the second-floor guest room.

He still hadn’t used his game opportunity today. If he didn’t use it now, it would expire.

After selecting among various options, Xia Yu came to You Xue. Since it was already deep night and there was nothing else to do, he could only use it for sleeping. Coming to You Xue would earn him more game points.

The accumulated game points he had saved up could now be exchanged for experience cards, enough to raise one skill from LV1 all the way to LV5.

He spent an ordinary night sleeping at You Xue’s place. The next morning, Xia Yu returned to his own body.

Stepping out of the second-floor guest room, he looked down from the staircase and saw the living room was empty.

He then went to Ning Qiuer’s bedroom door. Through the open door, Xia Yu saw four girls sleeping together on the bed.

He didn’t know how late they had stayed up last night, but they were sleeping like this now.

Speaking of which, if he hadn’t left last night, could he have joined them?

Thinking about it, Xia Yu felt it was better not to join them.

As a good man, one must know to keep a distance from other women.

As he was about to turn and leave, Hu Lianglu, who was sleeping at the edge, woke up. She yawned and sleepily sat up.

Rubbing her eyes with her hand, Hu Lianglu looked around with half-closed eyes.

She saw Xia Yu at the door, her eyes suddenly opened wide and she became alert. Pulling the blanket, she tightly wrapped An Siyao in it, even causing Liu Manman on the inside to lose the blanket.

Without continuing to stand there, Xia Yu turned and left to go wash up.

When he came downstairs, the maid in the kitchen, having heard the noise, had already begun preparing breakfast.

After eating noodles with Hu Lianglu, Xia Yu stopped her as she was about to leave.

“Keep an eye on An Siyao a bit. Don’t let her go to remote places at night.” Xia Yu was referring to An Siyao coming over together last night.

“That’s none of your business.” Hu Lianglu was hostile toward Xia Yu.

“It’s dangerous. Do you want her to encounter danger?” Xia Yu patiently explained.

“I’ll follow her. Nothing will happen.” Hu Lianglu’s eyes showed confidence. In the aristocratic school, she was a lone wolf among sheep, and she felt quite good about herself.

Xia Yu used a mocking laugh to provoke her, which ignited Hu Lianglu’s fighting desire.

“Come on, let’s go outside.” Xia Yu decided to take this opportunity to teach Hu Lianglu a lesson.

Hu Lianglu snorted coldly and followed behind Xia Yu.

The maid in the kitchen heard their conversation. She wiped her wet hands dry and also walked outside. If anything unexpected happened, she would immediately rescue them.

Xia Yu gestured to Hu Lianglu with his finger. The easily angered Hu Lianglu immediately rushed forward and threw a punch.

Dodging sideways, Xia Yu lightly stepped back, creating distance from Hu Lianglu.

Xia Yu didn’t immediately defeat Hu Lianglu, as he wanted her to clearly understand her weakness.

Seeing this, the maid silently walked back into the house. Based on her experience as the second-place boxer in the First District, there would be no danger in this situation.

The reason friends’ sparring matches cause injuries is that neither can hold back. But obviously, Hu Lianglu couldn’t even reach the level of making Xia Yu fight seriously. The gap was too big.

Such a one-sided fight wouldn’t result in any accidents.

As the maid predicted, no matter how hard Hu Lianglu tried, she couldn’t touch Xia Yu. Instead, she stumbled several times and fell.

Getting up from the ground, Hu Lianglu pushed the hair in front of her face behind her ears, panting as she looked at Xia Yu.

She hadn’t expected this pretty boy to be so skilled.

But she wasn’t discouraged. She clenched her fists, preparing to attack again. At this moment, she saw that Xia Yu, instead of waiting with his hands down as usual, raised his fists.

He was attacking her now.
