Chapter 305: Misappropriation of Public Funds – An Siyao

“It’s gone.” With a timid tone, An Siyao spoke arrogantly.

“You actually spent five million…?” Yu Ningmeng thought for two seconds before realizing, “Did you give it to Xia Yu?”

“The money given to me is mine.” An Siyao turned her face away to look out the window.

Yu Ningmeng really wanted to tell An Siyao that this money was obtained by using the condition of becoming a head maid for An Siyao, exchanged from Yu Liang, and was given to her merely to involve her in this matter.

However, right now in the car, Yu Ningmeng found it inconvenient to continue.

Sighing, Yu Ningmeng felt a bit weary.

When she saw An Siyao giving all An family’s companies to Xia Yu, she was happy, happy that An Siyao had squandered the An family’s fortune. But now she had been retaliated against—her starting capital for entrepreneurship had been given away by An Siyao.

This wastrel! Spending so much money on a man!

Yu Ningmeng temporarily swallowed her anger, planning to wait until they returned to the villa, when no one else was around, to have a serious talk with Xia Yu.

In front, the driver driving the car heard every word exchanged between the two.

He made a summary.

Yu Ningmeng wanted to start a business, but found out the young miss had spent the capital on a man named Xia Yu.

On the surface, it seemed like a typical reckless spending spree by a wastrel miss, but was it really that simple?

Could that ruthless, calculating, and all-knowing young miss really fall for a man?

If he didn’t know who Xia Yu was, the driver might have believed it.

Recalling the incident when he once drove Xia Yu and a phone fell from the sky trying to kill him, and thinking about Xia Yu’s calm and composed demeanor, the driver knew that things were definitely not as simple as they seemed.

He guessed that the young miss must have assigned Xia Yu some task, and this five million was payment.

To make the fund flow hard to explain, she created the impression that she was obsessed with a man.

The evidence was that more than a month ago, through his girlfriend’s best friend’s boyfriend, he learned that Yu family’s pharmaceutical company suddenly obtained two relatively mature drug research materials related to muscular nerves.

His girlfriend’s best friend’s boyfriend firmly told him that there had been no rumors of research on these two drugs before—they seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.

No medicine could emerge from thin air; the only possibility was that the research locations for these two drugs were not in Yu family’s research institute.

Then, why would pharmaceutical research data from another company suddenly appear at Yu family’s pharmaceutical company?

There was only one answer.

So, was Mr. Xia Yu actually a corporate spy?

In his life, the driver admired two kinds of people the most: one was spies, and the other was agents—both combined coolness and excitement.

Thinking that he had driven his idol several times, the driver couldn’t help feeling excited.

His heart began to beat faster, and he immediately adjusted himself.

He feared his emotions might be detected by the young miss and the head maid behind him, which might lead to his elimination.

Again, he glanced at Yu Ningmeng through the rearview mirror inside the car. Seeing Yu Ningmeng still had an indignant expression, the driver slightly pulled his lips into a smirk, revealing a knowing look.

How could the head maid Yu Ningmeng not know about this espionage operation? She was just acting!

She wanted to spread the rumor through him that “the young miss is obsessed with a man and spends extravagantly,” making more people believe it, thus concealing the investment in the espionage activities!

Yu Ningmeng must have performed this act in many other places too, and those people probably already believed it, after all, not everyone was as wise as he was.

Sighing inwardly, the driver lamented the terror of aristocratic families. Calculations everywhere, traps at every step—he had seen through one, but might have unknowingly fallen into countless others.

Mentally reminding himself to be cautious in speech, hearing, and action, the driver focused on driving.

When they arrived at the villa, Yu Ningmeng and An Siyao got out of the car.

On the path leading to the front courtyard, Yu Ningmeng remained silent. Only after entering the villa, reaching An Siyao’s room, and dismissing the maids did she finally speak.

“You already gave him two companies—why did you give him money too!” Yu Ningmeng was almost losing her composure. She had endured humiliation for a year as a maid to prepare for this grand entrepreneurial opportunity, only to be betrayed by An Siyao.

An Siyao lowered her head.

Yu Ningmeng softened her excited tone: “Giving away companies isn’t a big deal, but why did you give him the liquid capital? That was meant for your startup.”

An Siyao still said nothing.

Yu Ningmeng stood up: “I’m going to get the money back now.”

“No.” An Siyao finally spoke. She grabbed Yu Ningmeng’s hand, “It’s mine, so why can’t I give it to him?”

Though the words were defiant, An Siyao’s tone was somewhat hesitant, like a female supporting character in a horror movie threatening a monster, “Come closer and I won’t be nice!”

Yu Ningmeng was surprised that An Siyao actually tried to stop her.

Previously, whenever An Siyao did something wrong, Yu Ningmeng decided how to resolve it.

It must be that Xia Yu had seduced Yao Yao! Yao Yao used to be so obedient!

She no longer mentioned retrieving the money, shifting her anger toward Xia Yu instead: “At least gain some benefit from spending the money. Who knows if he’s just a paper tiger? If he disappoints you, all your money will be wasted.”

An Siyao retorted, “He isn’t.”

Yu Ningmeng was momentarily stunned; her voice trembled slightly: “How do you know?”

“I’ve seen.” Although somewhat shy, An Siyao still spoke up to prevent Yu Ningmeng from slandering Xia Yu. She was referring to the incident that afternoon when she had taken over Xia Yu’s body.

Yu Ningmeng took a step back: “Did you do anything else besides seeing?”

“I touched too.” Thinking about the posture in the restroom, An Siyao blushed again.

Yu Ningmeng was shocked. She had specifically investigated and found out that An Siyao and Xia Yu had only kissed once, and that was recent. How did they suddenly jump to such an exciting stage?

She wanted to ask more, but words could be forged. She decided to verify it herself.

She walked to the door, locked it first, then pushed An Siyao onto the bed.

One minute later, Yu Ningmeng walked out of An Siyao’s room, exhaling in relief.

The situation hadn’t reached the most serious extent yet.

She touched her abdomen lightly—An Siyao had resisted fiercely and kicked her.

But that wasn’t the problem. The real issue was that she must report today’s two incidents to the chairman!

Returning to her bedroom, Yu Ningmeng dialed Yu Liang’s number.

“What happened?” Yu Liang’s voice came through the receiver.

“The granddaughter squandered public funds to support a man!” Yu Ningmeng said irritably.

“What?” Yu Liang was delighted beyond expectation, “Hahahahaha! Has this girl become so capable now?”

Yu Ningmeng: “???”
