Chapter 29: I Became an Urban Legend

Feng Yumo and Feng Yujia, the two sisters, seemed rather gloomy recently.

In the morning, they arrived at school. Usually, they would greet every classmate whose name they knew along the way, but today, they didn’t.

Both sisters were thinking about one person—An Siyao.

A few days ago, after being captivated by An Siyao, the two had been circling around her, trying to gain more happiness, but they hadn’t felt satisfied.

It seemed as though that day had been an exception; the An Siyao of these past few days had reverted to her former self.

However, through the sisters’ recent attempts to get closer, some misunderstandings had been resolved. They now realized that An Siyao’s usual soft and cute demeanor wasn’t an act—it was genuine.

They were quite surprised, not expecting such a person to exist in modern society.

Still, softness and cuteness weren’t the happiness the sisters truly desired. What they pursued was that same feeling they had experienced that day, something An Siyao could no longer provide.

Had that day merely been an illusion?

Deeply disappointed, the two sisters entered the courtyard and met An Siyao as usual. By now, they had no expectations left, so they simply greeted her with a mundane “Good morning.”

“Morning!” Xia Yu replied energetically.

The sisters paused mid-step. Normally, An Siyao would say “Good morning” in a soft, gentle tone.

They exchanged glances, confirming each other’s feelings, then simultaneously turned their gaze toward Xia Yu.

“What’s wrong?” Xia Yu asked, somewhat puzzled.

If it had been An Siyao, she would have taken a step back by now, questioning whether something was wrong with herself, rather than asking confidently like this.

Had that day’s An Siyao returned?

Feng Yumo, the younger sister, reacted first. She grabbed Xia Yu’s hand.

She had held many girls’ hands before; they were always soft, like holding her own.

But this hand was different—it was strong and warm, making her face feel hot.

This was exactly that feeling!

Though puzzled, Xia Yu naturally clasped Feng Yumo’s hand in return. He often saw girls holding hands, so he assumed it was a normal gesture.

He strode forward, and Feng Yumo had to quicken her pace to keep up, making the girl feel even more exhilarated.

Watching from the side, Feng Yujia gritted her teeth at the sight of their entwined hands. Although Xia Yu had two hands, the other was holding a backpack, making it unavailable. Besides, three people holding hands would be too embarrassing.

Damn little brat, she couldn’t even leave some for her older sister!

Feng Yujia shot her sister a resentful glance and gave up on this front, attempting to launch a new initiative.

She asked Xia Yu, “Can we have lunch together?”

“Sure,” Xia Yu agreed.

“Then I’ll come find you after class,” Feng Yujia said joyfully.

“Me too!” Feng Yumo chimed in.

“You’ve just transferred in, Yumo. It would be better to spend time with your classmates to build relationships,” Feng Yujia tried to send her sister away, hoping to prevent another hand-holding incident.

“You’re the one who should go, Sister. Your best friends are waiting for you every day!” Feng Yumo shot back defiantly.

Xia Yu wasn’t insensitive; he sensed the competitive undertone in the sisters’ words.

He mused: An Siyao really is popular.

By the time they reached the third floor, Xia Yu parted ways with the two girls and entered the classroom.

The curriculum at this private school wasn’t particularly different—just more logically structured and slightly simpler textbooks.

After class, the girls chatted about gossip. The trending topic today was an urban legend that had just emerged.

One girl vividly described, “If you hear someone calling your name downstairs in the evening, don’t respond. That’s a wandering spirit. If you answer, it will possess you! But don’t panic if possessed—the ghosts are just filled with resentment. Usually, letting them play video games for half a day will make them leave.”

Xia Yu: “???”

This sounded oddly familiar.

At noon, Xia Yu was taken away by the Feng sisters.

The three went to the cafeteria, picked up their meals, and sat at an empty table.

“This tastes great,” Feng Yujia served a piece of carved tofu from her plate to Xia Yu.

“These baby squids are delicious too,” Feng Yumo also shared some of her food with Xia Yu.

Xia Yu had an inexplicable feeling of being fed.

But right now, he was using An Siyao’s body. If they were feeding An Siyao, what did that have to do with him?

He ate contentedly, feeling deeply satisfied.

Appetite was one of the most primal desires—chasing delicious food was human nature.

As Xia Yu enjoyed his meal happily, Feng Yujia and Feng Yumo also felt delighted feeding him. The three of them were enjoying themselves immensely.

But just then, an unexpected guest arrived.

It was a young man in his twenties or so.

“Yumo, I was just looking for you to talk about the cultural festival!” The young man was Feng Yumo’s music teacher.

Although the school was an all-girls’ private institution, there were still male teachers on staff.

Carrying a tray, the young man naturally joined the three at their table.

The table they occupied was for four people. Feng Yujia sat beside Xia Yu, while Feng Yumo sat across from him.

The empty seat was next to Feng Yumo.

After sitting down, the young man acted as if he had just noticed Xia Yu: “Didn’t expect to see you here, Siyao!”

Xia Yu frowned. A grown man among a group of teenage girls was quite noticeable, so he had noticed the young man earlier. The man had been lingering around, observing for a while before approaching—it was clearly not a chance encounter.

Moreover, his casual use of her given name without her surname displeased Xia Yu.

At the same time, he could sense that both Feng sisters were equally displeased.

“Who is he?” Xia Yu asked.

Thinking Xia Yu was asking her, Feng Yumo explained, “That’s our music teacher.”

“We met at your mother’s birthday party last year. I didn’t expect Siyao to forget me,” the young man began introducing himself.

However, Xia Yu wasn’t listening. He hadn’t been asking Feng Yumo but had actually been inquiring An Siyao.

“He’s a music teacher, I think he came back from District Two,” An Siyao tried to recall more information. “His father might be one of my father’s subordinates.”

So he was just the son of a high-ranking employee.

A sense of disdain arose in Xia Yu’s heart. Although he himself wasn’t even a high-ranking employee, right now he was using An Siyao’s identity, so looking down on the young man posed no problem.

“Your mother’s birthday is coming up soon. I hope to see your beautiful presence at the banquet again,” the young man smiled.

Xia Yu didn’t respond. He didn’t even glance at the young man. Calmly, he continued peeling a quail egg—a type of egg Xia Yu had never heard of before. The shell retained heat, so it was best eaten right after peeling.

The young man smiled, waiting for Xia Yu’s reply, but Xia Yu completely ignored him, making the young man increasingly embarrassed. The table fell into an awkward silence.

The three watched Xia Yu.

Even under their gazes, Xia Yu’s hands remained steady. He leisurely finished peeling the egg.

He popped the egg into Feng Yumo’s mouth and glanced at the young man: “You’re not qualified to call Siyao by her name.”

Feng Yumo’s brain momentarily froze, her joy at being fed overpowering the discomfort brought by the young man.

However, the young man, who had come specifically for her, didn’t give up.
