Early morning, soft sunlight illuminated the vibrant sea of flowers.
It was indeed a true sea of flowers; the entire hill was covered with flowers of all colors, dazzling and colorful.
A young girl was walking through the sea of flowers. She stepped cautiously, walking along an extremely narrow path within the flower field.
She lifted her skirt, her eyes fixed on the path ahead. At a corner, her skirt brushed against a flower. Immediately, she stopped, lifted her skirt higher, and continued walking even more carefully.
A song drifted from the side. She turned toward the sound and saw a rising slope. The slope was bare, with a huge rock at its summit.
On top of the rock lay a mature woman appearing about thirty years old. She was lying on her side, surrounded by picked flowers. The flowers near her body were fresh and vivid, but more of the flowers outside had already withered.
Her song contained only melodious tunes, no lyrics, and the melody was cheerful.
Yet against the backdrop of the barren hill and the numerous withering flowers, it appeared somewhat eerie.
The girl quickly walked away from the hill. Ahead, she saw another figure wearing the same dress as hers.
This figure didn’t walk cautiously along the narrow path like she did, but instead strolled freely through the flower field. Whenever she encountered a new and beautiful flower, she would stop, pluck it, touch it, and smell it, then discard it moments later without any attachment, continuing forward indifferently.
The girl wanted to follow, but the path was too winding. The figure quickly walked down the hill and gradually disappeared from the girl’s sight.
Finally, the figure turned back to glance at the girl. Thus, the girl saw the other’s face.
It was the face of a teenage boy.
Suddenly, the sunlight became glaring. The girl shut her eyes. When she opened them again, she saw an unfamiliar bed.
Sitting up from the couch, An Siyao looked down at her legs, her hands empty.
She turned her head in panic, but relaxed when she saw Xia Yu sitting beside her.
“You had a dream? You look so flustered,” Xia Yu flipped a page of his novel and looked at An Siyao.
They chatted for a while in the room, and then An Siyao fell asleep, probably due to lack of sleep from the previous night’s meeting.
Recalling her dream and the figure wearing the same dress as hers at the end, An Siyao answered, “I dreamed that you were wearing my dress.”
“???”
How come you’re such a pervert, girl!
I wearing a skirt is one thing, but wearing your skirt?
What kind of shameful play is this!
Xia Yu was about to ask further when An Siyao reached out first, grasped his hand, and leaned her head on his shoulder.
Therefore, Xia Yu closed his mouth.
This kind of natural affection was too unfair.
Rubbing her face against his shoulder again, An Siyao wondered: Was that figure at the end Xia Yu? And who was the woman on the rock atop the hill?
She soon recalled the answer.
It was Yin Wan.
She didn’t dwell on why she had such a dream, but felt sad just remembering the feeling from it.
She quietly raised her head to look at Xia Yu, who was reading.
The sun was about to set, and the last rays poured into the room, casting a bright spot on Xia Yu’s head.
That light spot reminded An Siyao of the sudden, blinding sunlight at the end of her dream that had chased everything away.
Would light also chase Xia Yu away?
She stretched out her hand and covered the spot on Xia Yu’s head, preventing the light from touching him.
While reading, Xia Yu suddenly felt a weight on his head and turned to find An Siyao’s hand resting there.
Are you pretending to sleep and secretly petting my head?
Feeling his dignity challenged, Xia Yu tossed the book aside and placed one hand on An Siyao’s head.
Blinking her eyes, An Siyao noticed the light spot had moved elsewhere due to Xia Yu’s movement. She withdrew her hand and held onto his other arm.
Xia Yu couldn’t understand the logic behind An Siyao’s actions.
Normally, a playful girl would probably place both hands on him, then add her feet, competing on who could place more limbs.
Or a shyer girl might either slap his hand away assertively or lower her head and pretend to be an ostrich.
Why do you act like this?
Unaware of Xia Yu’s confusion, An Siyao felt a bit dreamy as she touched his arm.
She thought back to a year ago, the day she had a slight fever and was rarely granted a break by the head maid, resting in her room.
Then, she saw her body moving on its own initiative.
That was the day she and Xia Yu met.
Suddenly, her body had another person inside, and that person had priority control, which troubled An Siyao a little.
But soon after, she felt happy.
Responding to the maids’ expectations was too tiring; she had long been exhausted, so having someone else take over was the best solution.
But unlike what she had imagined, Xia Yu didn’t walk carefully along the narrow path. Instead, he strolled into the flower field, even trampling some obstructing flowers underfoot and flattening the soil to create a new path.
After Xia Yu left, she felt relaxed and comfortable. The space left for her in the flower field had increased.
Watching Xia Yu gradually transform the flower field, finally fencing off the flowers, she couldn’t help but admire Xia Yu for being able to do such things.
Placing Xia Yu’s palm against her cheek, An Siyao thought: As long as I follow behind him, I can find happiness, right?
Yet the image of Yin Wan lying on the giant rock on the hill still flickered in An Siyao’s mind.
“What are you thinking about?” Unable to understand An Siyao’s actions, Xia Yu chose to ask directly.
“Thinking about you,” An Siyao truthfully replied.
The next moment, Xia Yu’s fist tapped on her head.
Xia Yu really wanted to ask how An Siyao could naturally say such things, but if he did, it would feel like he had admitted defeat.
“Why did you hit me?” Holding her head, An Siyao looked a bit wronged.
“Actually, I have a disease that randomly makes me hit people’s heads,” Xia Yu chose to lie.
“Again teasing me.” Even though she said that, An Siyao didn’t seem upset.
Xia Yu changed the subject.
“When you were sure it was me, how did you feel?” He asked curiously.
“It startled me suddenly. I didn’t expect you were secretly by my side all along,” An Siyao’s words were full of sweetness.
Just like a little boy who discovers that the scary puppet that had been secretly following him to school was actually played by the neighbor’s big sister. The previous discomfort immediately turned into sweetness, and he even worried whether his previous attitude had been too bad.
They talked about other things together until You Xue knocked on the door to call them for dinner.
After dinner, to avoid being captured and interrogated by An Tianfeng and Yu Liang, Xia Yu and You Xue sent An Siyao back to the villa.
On their way back, You Xue poked Xia Yu’s waist, encouraging him to hurry up and win An Siyao over to his house.
Xia Yu didn’t respond.
The next morning, Xia Yu came into Xu Youxiang’s body.
