Chapter 251: Yan Wei or Yan Li?

After listening to the doctor’s words, Xu Youyu gently touched his eyes.

Recently, he indeed felt his eyes were a bit tired, but he hadn’t paid much attention because the change had been gradual.

“What will happen?” Xia Yu asked directly.

“It should be a side effect of the medication. In the long run, it might cause some damage to vision, similar to high myopia. It’s not serious, but we can’t rule out the possibility of unexpected issues arising suddenly,” the doctor explained in concise terms.

Hearing that it was merely high myopia, Xia Yu felt relieved.

“Can glasses correct it?” he asked.

“Most likely, yes.” The doctor couldn’t give a definite answer.

Xia Yu nodded, indicating that he could accept this.

“There’s nothing else. Your leg is recovering well, even better than I expected,” the doctor concluded, putting away the report and asking a few more questions.

After leaving the office, Xia Yu returned to the ward and chatted with Xu Youxiang.

“What kind of glasses do you like?” Xia Yu imagined what Xu Youxiang would look like wearing glasses.

“Since when are you into glasses? What are you planning to do with them? No wonder you’re the King of Bizarre. Forget it—I’m going with contact lenses,” Xu Youxiang responded.

Xia Yu wasn’t particularly fond of the “glasses girl” look; he had just asked casually. What exactly was this “King of Bizarre and Twisted” thing?

Letting the matter drop, Xia Yu pondered for a moment before saying to Xu Youxiang, “I’ll look into whether I can develop a medicine to restore your vision.”

“Don’t bother. By the time you figure it out, at least four or five years will have passed,” Xu Youxiang tried to stop him. “Besides, after extensive clinical trials, we still wouldn’t be able to confirm the drug’s side effects. You might fix your vision only to end up with issues in hearing or touch, which would be even more troublesome.”

Xia Yu also felt it was unreliable and decided to give up.

After chatting a while longer with Xu Youxiang and making plans to meet again at university, Xia Yu returned to his own body.

It was already ten in the morning, and he heard movement outside the door.

Opening it, he saw Yuki and Yan Wei busily preparing breakfast in the kitchen.

“You came here to cook for me without even needing to be tricked?”

However, Xia Yu didn’t feel particularly happy.

If he had tricked them into coming, it would have been fine. But them showing up on their own made him uneasy.

Because this wasn’t something he had earned through his own efforts.

Thinking again about Yan Wei’s boldness the previous night, Xia Yu felt that the girl had become increasingly forward lately, almost ready to confess outright.

Though Xia Yu felt a flutter in his heart at her actions, he couldn’t quite feel the same way about Yan Wei herself.

Yan Wei was beautiful, had an exceptional figure, cooked well, and was honest and down-to-earth—seemingly the ideal wife.

But precisely because she was so perfect in every way, she felt somewhat uninteresting.

When he thought of An Siyao, the first things that came to mind were her silly, timid expressions, like a little rabbit, always wanting to take care of him.

When he thought of Xu Youxiang, he thought of her foolish, perverted little girl voice, like a young tiger always roaring around.

But when he thought of Yan Wei, all he could recall were her exceptional figure and cooking skills—external traits only.

That’s why Xia Yu said Yan Wei lacked spirit, just like Xue Baochai from “Dream of the Red Chamber”—perfect, yet dull.

Xia Yu wasn’t the kind of man who only cared about someone’s physical attributes, which was why he felt little for Yan Wei.

Sighing, Xia Yu decided that when they arrived at Efang, he’d have Yan Wei meet An Siyao.

Once she saw An Siyao, the girl would give up.

Although Yan Wei was already great, she was still a bit inferior to the incomparable An Siyao.

His mood improved, and Xia Yu walked over to the sofa, where Yan Li was playing a video game.

Picking up another controller, Xia Yu asked Yan Li to start the two-player mode.

At eleven o’clock, Yan Wei finished cooking and smiled.

She knew Xia Yu loved delicious food. Originally, he enjoyed her cooking and pastries, and now, after studying at Baiyue Academy for so long, she was sure to please him even more.

Yan Wei placed her most proud dishes next to Xia Yu’s seat and glanced toward the living room.

Her smile froze.

On the living room sofa, Yan Li and Xia Yu were playing a game, their bodies already pressed together.

I’ve been working hard to improve my cooking skills and pastries to impress you, while you two just play games and get close so easily?

Other women were one thing, but even her own younger sister was resorting to such underhanded tactics!

Yan Wei couldn’t accept this reality. She walked behind the sofa.

Yan Li and Xia Yu were fighting a boss together, and Yan Li had died early on. Xia Yu was still fighting. As the game grew intense, Yan Li couldn’t help leaning closer to Xia Yu.

Just as she excitedly watched the boss nearing defeat, a hand suddenly reached out from behind and grabbed her neck.

“Ahh!” Yan Li was startled and pushed Xia Yu’s arm in reflex, causing Xia Yu to press the wrong button. His character was killed by the boss.

Seeing the red “Game Over” screen, Yan Li angrily turned to her sister behind her.

“Sis, what did you do that for?!”

“What were you doing?” Yan Wei pulled Yan Li off the sofa.

“Why? I didn’t do anything…” Yan Li’s voice weakened as Yan Wei stared at her with an emotionless gaze.

“I know I was wrong,” Yan Li obediently admitted, although she didn’t quite understand what was going on.

“Go eat,” Yan Wei coldly dismissed Yan Li, then turned to Xia Yu with a gentle expression and said, “Come on, the food’s ready.”

As she walked ahead, Yan Li felt somewhat frightened by her sister’s sudden change in attitude.

In theory, after not seeing her sister for months, her sister should have treated her even better upon returning. Instead, her sister had become even harsher.

Even yesterday at the basketball court, her sister had scolded her without reason.

Why?!

Yan Li felt very wronged.

At dinner, she defiantly took the seat Yan Wei usually occupied, only to see Yan Wei happily sit beside Xia Yu.

Yan Li realized she had lost. At the same time, she had some suspicions about her sister’s change in attitude.

“What’s wrong?” Xia Yu asked Yan Li, who was watching him and Yan Wei closely.

“Nothing,” Yan Li already understood the truth. She began thinking about how to profit from this situation.

“I also prepared some desserts. Don’t eat too much, save room for them,” Yan Wei interrupted their conversation.

Nodding, Xia Yu began tasting Yan Wei’s cooking.

Right now, she already had about eighty percent of the skill level of the chef at An Siyao’s villa.

Indeed, talented people were different.

After finishing the meal and the desserts, Xia Yu returned to his bedroom.

He had originally wanted to play games with Yan Li and Yuki, but gave up on the idea to spare Yan Li from more scolding.

He watched some videos in his bedroom before Yuki knocked and walked in.

“Where are they?” Xia Yu asked.

“Lili is playing games, and Weiwei is making desserts,” Yuki replied, throwing herself onto Xia Yu’s bed, lying on her side and propping her head up to look at him.

The girl asked, “Big brother, who do you like more, Lili or Weiwei?”
