Chapter 891: The Chase

The two of them swiftly darted through the densely packed buildings of the City of Sin, as Angel of Arrogance rained down arrow after arrow. Nie Yan rapidly dodged, the explosions roaring behind him.

Angel of Arrogance closely pursued Nie Yan. With the Solace Wings equipped, his movement speed had increased by 300%, yet even so, he could barely keep up with Nie Yan at full speed. This infuriated him—what the hell kind of speed was that!

Every arrow he shot missed Nie Yan. Watching arrow after arrow fall short, he felt his heart sink. These arrows had been specially enchanted with explosive runes, each costing five or six hundred gold coins. He had crafted only over two hundred of them in total. Just when it seemed his arrows were about to hit, Nie Yan would dodge with uncanny precision, as if his back had eyes.

Nie Yan deliberately chose narrow alleys, making Angel of Arrogance’s flight extremely inconvenient.

As he flew forward, he suddenly noticed that the alley ahead was filled with stalls and bustling pedestrians. A cruel smile crept across his face—this time, there’s no escape for you. He muttered a low command and activated Haste Shot, drawing three arrows from his quiver, placing them on the bowstring, and releasing them in quick succession—swoosh, swoosh, swoosh. Before the first three arrows had even left, he rapidly drew another three, and then another three, unleashing nine arrows in total, flying in three straight lines through the air.

Nie Yan looked ahead and saw the alley swarming with people, the street chaotic with many NPCs setting up stalls and groups of players blocking the way.

No way through!

Nie Yan’s heart sank—this was going to be a problem.

The arrows whistled toward him, and from the sound of the wind alone, Nie Yan determined their distance and direction.

With people everywhere ahead and no escape behind, Nie Yan gritted his teeth, turned abruptly, and charged straight back toward Angel of Arrogance.

Three arrows came directly at him. Nie Yan leapt up and flipped aside. Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh—the arrows whizzed past his chest.

No sooner had he dodged those three than six more arrows shot toward him. Nie Yan moved his feet, creating a series of illusory figures—his Shadow Dance technique!

Boom, boom, boom! Three arrows struck the crowd and exploded, knocking down over twenty players and two NPCs.

Panic erupted among the crowd, curses filling the air.

“Damn it, who the hell did that!”

They turned and saw the two engaged in battle—one was Nie Yan, the other Angel of Arrogance. Immediately, they lost all courage. Who among them dared to confront these two? These two were the most powerful figures in the entire Light Faction!

Suddenly, they noticed more arrows flying toward them. Their faces turned pale, and they scattered in all directions.

Nie Yan narrowly dodged Angel of Arrogance’s attack using his Phantom Steps. Hearing the explosion behind him, he could easily imagine the chaos ensuing.

The Angel of Arrogance paused, astonished that Kuang Zei Nie Yan had managed to evade yet again!

As he prepared to draw more arrows for another shot, Nie Yan suddenly leapt up, propelling himself like a cannonball to a height of over ten yards. Like a gecko, he clung to the side of a nearby building, then launched himself again toward Angel of Arrogance.

Seeing Nie Yan flying toward him at an incredible speed, Angel of Arrogance’s heart clenched. His first instinct was to dodge! He immediately flapped his wings and turned to flee, occasionally glancing back to fire more arrows.

Below, after being hit by so many arrows, only two or three out of every ten players survived. The alley was in chaos, with craters littering the ground and scattered items everywhere. The survivors were terrified—what kind of arrows were those? Their attack power was just too overwhelming!

Looking up, they saw two figures streaking across the sky. Angel of Arrogance flapped his wings, moving like lightning and firing arrows that caused stunning explosions wherever they hit. As for Nie Yan, he leapt, climbed, and used spider silk to dart between buildings on either side of the alley, his movements a dizzying blur. Though he lacked wings, he was even more agile. Most astonishing of all, even mid-air, he could still dodge Angel of Arrogance’s arrows.

These two freaks! The players below finally witnessed a battle of a level they could only ever dream of reaching!

As Nie Yan chased Angel of Arrogance, a system message appeared: System: Your Mirror Rogue has died.

Glancing at the Shadow Assassin’s status page, Nie Yan noted that before dying, the Shadow Assassin had taken down thirteen enemies—worth it!

The players from Angel Empire knew that the person they had sacrificed over a dozen players to kill was merely a mirror image. What expressions would they have upon learning that?

The Angel of Arrogance clearly realized that the Shadow Assassin had perished. The target was confirmed—this one was indeed Kuang Zei Nie Yan!

The battle intensified, with the surrounding buildings collapsing under Angel of Arrogance’s relentless arrow attacks.

Although Nie Yan was fast, he lacked the agility of Angel of Arrogance, who had wings, making it temporarily impossible for him to catch up.

On the other side of the City of Sin, a goblin warrior clad in golden armor was sprinting through an alley. Seeing twenty or so Angel Empire players gathered ahead, he stopped.

“Where is Angel Leader?” the goblin warrior asked.

“Lord Tiansha, the Angel Leader is currently pursuing the Mad Bandit Nie Yan. We don’t know how it’s going,” a mage replied.

Upon hearing the mage’s words, the Angel Empire members exchanged glances. Within Angel Empire, Tiansha was a very mysterious figure, rarely seen in public. Many had only heard of Tiansha but had never met him personally.

Hearing the mage’s words, Tiansha furrowed his brow and said gravely, “Everyone, summon your flying mounts and follow me!” He was somewhat concerned that Angel of Arrogance might run into trouble—Kuang Zei Nie Yan was simply unpredictable.

“Yes!” the group responded in unison.

Tiansha held a very high status within Angel Empire. Even Angel of Arrogance treated him with respect, so no one else dared to object.

One by one, they summoned their flying mounts. Over twenty flying mounts took off into the sky, heading toward the location of Nie Yan and Angel of Arrogance.

Nie Yan gradually closed the distance, now only five or six yards from Angel of Arrogance. He pushed off the wall with a powerful kick, suddenly accelerating and quickly closing in on Angel of Arrogance’s back—Puncture!

Nie Yan lunged forward several yards, his dagger aiming straight for Angel of Arrogance’s head.

Die! Nie Yan coldly sneered, his dagger flashing like thunder.

At the last moment, Angel of Arrogance suddenly turned, his right hand somehow now holding a dagger, performing a block.

A sharp metallic clang rang out as Nie Yan’s Bloody Dagger clashed with Angel of Arrogance’s dagger. The immense force sent Angel of Arrogance flying backward.

Nie Yan, however, began to fall due to gravity.

This guy had some skill—actually managing to block Nie Yan’s attack!

As Angel of Arrogance retreated, he glanced back. Their eyes met, both filled with icy determination.

They both understood that only by staying calm could they hope to defeat their opponent.

Flapping his wings, Angel of Arrogance stabilized his body and took the opportunity to fire three arrows from his longbow.

As Nie Yan fell, he grabbed the eaves of a nearby building, kicked off with his feet, dodged the incoming arrows, and charged toward Angel of Arrogance again.

Seeing Nie Yan charging, Angel of Arrogance flapped his wings again to retreat.

As Nie Yan chased Angel of Arrogance, over twenty flying mounts began circling above them.

Nie Yan looked up and saw the flying mounts blocking the sky. Fortunately, he and Angel of Arrogance were fighting in a narrow space between several buildings—those flying mounts above couldn’t descend!

Nie Yan ignored the flying mounts above and continued his relentless pursuit of Angel of Arrogance.

Perched atop a massive blue bat, the goblin warrior Tiansha gazed downward and witnessed Angel of Arrogance being overwhelmed by Nie Yan. With grave determination, he issued a command in the team channel: “All Archmages and Dark Demon Hunters—descend immediately and reinforce Angel Leader!”

Upon hearing Tiansha’s command, three mages and one Dark Demon Hunter leapt from their respective flying mounts.

“Be careful—remember, your opponent is the Mad Bandit Nie Yan!” Tiansha warned.

“Understood!”

The three Archmages and one Dark Demon Hunter landed simultaneously on the rooftops of several nearby buildings. The three Archmages waved their staffs, causing the surrounding magical elements to rapidly become agitated. The Dark Demon Hunter raised his longbow, locked onto Nie Yan who was engaged in combat with the Angel of Arrogance, and released three arrows.

Nie Yan was in hot pursuit of Angel of Arrogance when he caught sight of four figures landing on the rooftops around him. His heart tightened—Angel of Arrogance alone was hard enough to handle, but now with three more Archmages and a Dark Demon Hunter joining the fray, the advantage he had painstakingly gained was now gone.

Outnumbered and outgunned, and with Angel of Arrogance’s strength significantly enhanced, it was best to retreat for now.

Nie Yan leapt downward, rapidly descending and breaking away from Angel of Arrogance.

Seeing Nie Yan attempting to escape, Angel of Arrogance and the others immediately gave chase, launching a barrage of spells and arrows toward him.

Nie Yan activated his Divine Descent skill, enduring fifteen spells and six arrows. Damage numbers floated above his head—each dealing five to six thousand points of damage, from Angel of Arrogance and the Dark Demon Hunter’s arrows. The spells had no effect on Nie Yan whatsoever, and even the explosive effects of Angel of Arrogance’s arrows failed to leave a mark.

After their attacks hit Nie Yan, everyone was stunned.

“Damn it, what kind of defense does this guy have? My attack only did five thousand damage!”

“This guy has over fifty thousand HP!”

“My spells are useless—he’s activated magic immunity!”
