Chapter 882: Ambushing the Purple-Eyed Earth Dragon

“How have things been lately? Any new discoveries?” Nie Yan asked.

“It’s been the same as usual, no new developments. However, I did notice one thing—during these seven days, the purple-eyed earth dragon that came out to drink water wasn’t the same one as before. I suspect that the purple-eyed earth dragons take turns drinking water in a certain order. Based on my estimation, each dragon might continuously drink water for 7 to 13 days. I’m not sure if my deduction is correct yet,” Yinhuizhiye explained. This was only a hypothesis; further observation would be needed to confirm it.

Nie Yan nodded. This was indeed a discovery.

Once all preparations were complete, the group spent some time nearby killing monsters. After more than two hours, a message finally arrived from the Ox Tribe guild. The cage commissioned to the craftsmen had been completed.

Nie Yan activated a Fixed-point Teleport and appeared inside the Ox Tribe guild headquarters, entering the special meeting hall. At the center of the spacious hall stood a massive cage. It was roughly five yards tall, constructed from thick golden bars as thick as a man’s arm, giving it an indestructible appearance. The bars were covered with numerous small magical arrays, particularly concentrated at the joints. This cage was no ordinary prison—it concealed many hidden mechanisms.

“Boss Nieyan, the cage is finished. It was forged using 1,200 pounds of Kulu alloy, 17 pounds of mithril, 32 pounds of Rod metal, and 36 other types of rare metals. Its strength can withstand an impact of up to 600,000 pounds. No magic can affect it, and even if it were dropped from a height of 6,000 yards, it would remain unscathed. Moreover, it incorporates the most sophisticated current design principles. There are two mechanisms here—once activated, any creature inside will be completely immobilized,” a mechanic explained to Nie Yan.

Looking at the massive cage, Nie Yan was quite satisfied. It was almost exactly as he had imagined. If even this giant contraption couldn’t contain the purple-eyed earth dragon, then there was truly no justice in the world.

“Besides the basic structure, we also studied the anatomy of earth dragons and found that their underbellies, the inverted scales on their necks, and their collarbones are weak points. If absolutely necessary, pulling this red lever will fully expose and immobilize those weak points,” the mechanic continued.

Nie Yan nodded, now having a clear understanding of the cage’s structure and operation.

They decided to test the cage first to see if it was effective before deciding whether to make a second one.

Soon, more than a dozen mages led by Badkid and Xiaqingbing entered the meeting hall. Just like before, they began setting up a large teleportation formation on the ground. After several more hours, the formation was finally completed.

Nie Yan summoned dozens of powerful warriors, who slowly pushed the golden cage into the center of the teleportation formation.

Once everything was ready, it was nearly time to log off. They would wait until 8:00 a.m. the next day when the purple-eyed earth dragon would come out to drink water. One by one, Nie Yan and the others logged out.

During the day, Nie Yan and Xie Yao drove to other cities for a day trip. Time passed quickly.

The next day after logging back in, Nie Yan and the others immediately rushed to the Fate Valley. They lay in ambush near the spring, quietly waiting for the purple-eyed earth dragon to appear.

Across the vast plain, only the occasional chirping of insects could be heard. No larger creatures were active nearby because this was the territory of the purple-eyed earth dragon. Most creatures had been frightened away due to its frequent appearances.

Time passed slowly. Suddenly, Nie Yan’s voice chat notification rang—it was from Yinhuizhiye. He answered the call.

“Boss Nieyan, a purple-eyed earth dragon is heading your way!” Yinhuizhiye announced in the team chat.

Finally, it’s here, Nie Yan thought with a slight smile. He turned to Badkid and the others. “It’s coming. Get ready!”

“Understood!” the team members responded in unison. Many of them quickly retreated, leaping far away—at least 500 yards—to ensure their safety.

Badkid walked over to Nie Yan.

He raised his right hand, palm upward, and began to concentrate magical energy. Soon, a rotating water sphere formed in midair above his palm.

“Let’s begin,” Badkid said, looking at Nie Yan.

Thinking for a moment, Nie Yan decided to use two bottles of the sedative potion at once to avoid insufficient dosage. He took out two bottles and slowly poured them into the water sphere. The sphere darkened as the black liquid spread, eventually turning completely black. After pouring both bottles, the water sphere was entirely dyed pitch-black.

“Do you have confidence? Don’t break it—this is a high-difficulty technical task!” Nie Yan reminded cautiously.

“Don’t worry, Boss Nieyan. You don’t trust me?” Badkid smiled confidently.

Each bottle cost 300,000 gold coins, totaling 600,000. If it failed, that money would be wasted. Nie Yan had to be careful. However, he trusted Badkid deeply. If even Badkid couldn’t accomplish this, there probably weren’t many others in Ox Tribe who could.

After completing the process, Badkid carried the water sphere to the edge of the pond and gently placed it into the water. The sphere slowly sank.

Upon entering the water, the sphere did not burst. It securely contained the sedative liquid, preventing it from mixing with the spring water. Moreover, Badkid could control the sphere’s movement and depth underwater.

“How far can you control it?” Nie Yan asked.

“Up to 200 yards. If I drink a magic-enhancing potion, I can reach over 350 yards,” Badkid replied.

“That’s sufficient,” Nie Yan nodded. “Remember to use the invisibility cloaks later.”

“Got it.”

Suddenly, anxious voices burst through the team chat: “Boss Nieyan, the purple-eyed earth dragon is here!”

Nie Yan glanced into the distance. A purple dragon was approaching from the horizon. Nie Yan and Badkid quickly moved aside, seeking cover. The tall grasses of the prairie provided excellent hiding spots.

Soon, the purple dragon neared the spring. Nie Yan activated his stealth mode while Badkid and others donned their invisibility cloaks, carefully concealing themselves as they watched the purple dragon’s every move.
