Chapter 852: Restraint

Nie Yan checked his status and found that he had gained several new pet spaces. In addition to being able to own more dragon pets, he suspected that the Dragon King’s Power skill must be related to a certain quest. Although the description of Dragon King’s Power was only fragmentary, Nie Yan keenly sensed that it might be a clue to a certain quest.

This must be related to a follow-up quest concerning Zennarde’s Sword, which made Nie Yan extremely curious.

Zennarde’s Sword was now a divine-grade weapon, exuding a sharp brilliance. Even Nie Yan himself couldn’t help but be amazed by its powerful attributes.

With a casual swing, Nie Yan slashed downward. A powerful sword aura, wrapped in a wave of heat, surged forward. With a loud boom, a crack about five to six yards long split the ground.

It was like a blazing sword capable of devouring everything.

The End Watchers continued advancing forward. Nie Yan followed behind, glancing toward the approaching decaying corpses. A dense wave of rotting corpses surged forward.

Nie Yan took a few quick steps forward and let out a low shout—Destruction Slash! He swung his blazing sword downward.

Giant blue sword auras slashed down from the sky, converging into one. Upon impact with the ground, they exploded violently—boom, boom, boom! Corpses flew backward, some even reduced to dust. Within a 5×50 yard area ahead, every unit was cleared, the ground looking as if it had been plowed, leaving behind a massive crack.

What an incredibly powerful skill!

Nie Yan inhaled sharply. The damage from Destruction Slash was even more terrifying than before.

He sheathed Zennarde’s Sword. Unless absolutely necessary, Nie Yan decided not to use it in front of others. If the day ever came when he had no choice but to wield this weapon, it would become his ultimate trump card.

He checked his coordinates. At the current pace, it would still take over ten days to reach the teleportation point. He needed to speed up!

Just as Nie Yan was temporarily trapped within a swarm of rotting corpses, the Angelic Domination faction intensified their attacks against the Bull Tribe. Previously, they had only been launching probing assaults. Nie Yan hadn’t appeared at all throughout, which convinced them that he was stuck in a quest. Emboldened, they grew even more brazen.

Despite repeated attacks from the Angelic Overlords, the Bull Tribe players successfully repelled them every time. Although they had lost some strongholds, the Bull Tribe struck back with ferocity, launching surprise assaults that destroyed several of the Angelic Overlords’ bases. The conflict had escalated into a seesaw battle.

What troubled the Bull Tribe the most, however, was the half-demon Angud. Angud had slaughtered nearly twenty thousand Bull Tribe players and destroyed six strongholds, inflicting heavy losses.

Even the Bull Tribe’s elite squad was no match for the half-demon Angud. Therefore, the Bull Tribe could only endure and try to minimize further losses.

“Boss Nieyan, the half-demon Angud wiped out our people in the Kalamo Marsh. We lost over three thousand comrades. What should we do? Can we just keep letting Angud slaughter our people like this?” Sha Bushide Huaide anxiously asked in the team chat. He had previously requested to engage in battle multiple times, but Nie Yan had always stopped him.

“Whatever happens, wait for me to return first,” Nie Yan replied. He clearly understood that the Bull Tribe’s elite squad was currently no match for Angud, a level 180 demonized lord.

“If we keep waiting like this, the lower ranks might start to complain. The losses are huge, yet our elite squad hasn’t done anything,” Cui Can Daoguang said, maintaining a rational and objective tone.

“How many top-tier classes do we have in the guild now?”

“Roughly around sixty or so,” replied Chevalier Wan Ge. This was already a remarkable achievement. Guilds like Angelic Domination didn’t even have half as many as the Bull Tribe.

Nie Yan remained silent for a moment before speaking, “If we deploy all our elite forces to confront the half-demon Angud, the casualties will undoubtedly be devastating. Not to mention, Angelic Supremacy is lurking like a predator, likely waiting for the perfect moment to strike. I’ve battled Angud before and understand his formidable strength. We simply stand no chance against him.”

“Then what should we do?” Everyone felt troubled.

“I’m certain that behind Angud, there must be someone helping him gather intelligence. Every place he appears is where our Bull Tribe elites gather the most.”

“I think so too. He always strikes right where it hurts the most.”

Hearing their words, Nie Yan immediately thought of the Tribe of Gods. It had always avoided direct confrontation with the Bull Tribe, yet many incidents bore their hidden fingerprints.

“I’ll figure something out. For now, you must try your best to avoid the half-demon Angud!” Nie Yan said. He had an idea forming, though he wasn’t sure if it would succeed. At the very least, he needed to wait until he got out first.

“Alright then.”

Nie Yan ended the voice chat and sent a message to Duo Duo, instructing Tian Shi Zhui Luo to keep a close eye on the Tribe of Gods, to prevent them from sabotaging the Bull Tribe from behind.

He glanced at Zennarde’s Sword in his inventory. Once he got out, it would be time to settle things properly with Angelic Domination and Century Financial Group.

Continuously clearing waves of rotting corpses, another day passed. Nie Yan logged out of the game pod.

A new day had begun. Due to the distance from the city center, the air here was fresh. A cool breeze blew in. The weather here was spring-like all year round, making temperature changes barely perceptible.

Xie Yao emerged from the kitchen, her gentle demeanor radiating elegance. Even wearing an apron, she carried no trace of mundanity.

To Nie Yan, this kind of life was peaceful and happy.

A tranquil morning!

“Breakfast is ready,” Xie Yao smiled, her dimples showing.

In the morning sunlight, gazing at Xie Yao’s beautiful smile, Nie Yan felt momentarily dazed. In that terrifying scene, facing a tide of grotesque rotting corpses, seeing Xie Yao’s smile now felt like seeing an angel.

“Mm,” Nie Yan snapped back to reality and nodded.

Seeing Nie Yan somewhat distracted, Xie Yao stood up and gently placed her slender hand on his forehead, asking in confusion, “Could you have a fever?”

“No,” Nie Yan smiled. “That quest scene in the game almost made me lose my mind.”

Curious, Xie Yao asked for details. Nie Yan described in detail the events he had encountered in the Death Plains. When he mentioned Zennarde’s Sword, Xie Yao exclaimed in surprise, “Zennarde’s Sword has evolved again?” Before its evolution, the sword had already been incredibly powerful. Now, after evolving, it must be even more formidable.

Nie Yan described the attributes of Zennarde’s Sword, including Dragon King’s Power, and laughed, “I need to find a few dragon pets soon, or else this skill will go to waste.”

“Dragon pets are hard to find. So far, our guild only has nine, seven of which were obtained through quests and were bound immediately,” Xie Yao replied. After Zennarde’s Sword was unsealed, Nie Yan had become even harder to challenge. In the game Faith, Nie Yan had already reached an unmatched peak.

“As for dragon pets, we can take it slowly,” Nie Yan said. He already had a target in mind, so he wasn’t worried about finding any. “How about your set of equipment? How many pieces are you still missing?”

“Just one,” Xie Yao replied. “But obtaining the last piece is extremely difficult. I’ve already died three times trying.”

Xie Yao couldn’t help but feel frustrated as she mentioned this. In certain specific scenarios, mages had their limitations. Their survival techniques weren’t as strong as rogues’, making them more prone to dying.

“Once I deal with the half-demon Angud, I’ll help you get that last piece,” Nie Yan said.

“Mm. Do you think you can handle the half-demon Angud? He’s a level 180 demonized lord,” Xie Yao asked, looking at Nie Yan. Although very few challenges could stump Nie Yan, Angud was simply too strong.

“I’m not sure yet. I’ll have to give it a try first,” Nie Yan replied. He could only take it as it came.

Nie Yan never made promises about uncertain matters. Although Xie Yao was curious about his plan to deal with Angud, she didn’t press further.

After breakfast, Xie Yao wore a gray wool sweater and went out for a walk with Nie Yan. The tight wool sweater accentuated her perfect curves. She wore jeans underneath, appearing casual yet incredibly charming, making it hard for Nie Yan to look away. As they strolled through the neighborhood, passersby couldn’t help but cast admiring glances their way.

As they walked, Nie Yan’s phone rang. It was Ci Dao calling. After Ci Dao had dealt with Liu Tian, Nie Yan had given him some time off, and the guy had been traveling somewhere. Liu Tian’s death had caused a complete rift between the Liu family and the Mone financial group, even resulting in several major shootouts, with both sides suffering losses. As both were dominant forces in their own right, neither feared the other.

“How have you been lately?” Nie Yan asked with a smile.

“Not even close to being fully relaxed yet. I’ll have to get back to work soon,” Ci Dao replied.

Nie Yan detected an unusual tone in Ci Dao’s voice and asked, “What’s wrong? Did something happen?”

“After several shootouts between the Liu family and the Mone financial group, things suddenly calmed down. The situation might be getting worse. They might suspect something and are now investigating the true causes behind Liu Tian and Qin Han’s deaths.”

“You mean they might trace it back to us?” Nie Yan’s heart sank as he asked. Whether it was the Liu family or the Mone financial group, both were formidable adversaries.

“It’s hard to say for sure right now. Liu Tian and Qin Han had many enemies. They might not necessarily trace it back to us, but we still need to be cautious,” Ci Dao said cautiously.

Nie Yan realized the severity of the situation. Fortunately, their operation had been discreet enough. As long as Wang Duo and the others didn’t leak any information, it would be difficult for the Liu family or the Mone financial group to trace it back to them.
