Chapter 835: Slaughtering the Village

Nie Yan and Shadow Assassin stormed into the village, cutting their way forward. Except for the Necromancer Xin Sui and the group of Silver Wings, others were merely insignificant cannon fodder.

The chaotic battle was live-streamed on the forums of the Dark Faction, making its players feel ashamed. Within the Dark Faction, it seemed no one could rival Nie Yan. Even an ordinary player wearing top-tier gear like the Abak Set could wreak havoc, let alone an expert like Nie Yan!

When regular players attacked Nie Yan, they could only inflict a few hundred points of damage. Some lower-level players couldn’t even penetrate his defense. The gap between them had widened to such an extent—how could they possibly win?

Within moments, Nie Yan slaughtered over a hundred players brought by Winter Night, leaving only twenty or thirty survivors.

This guy was practically a god of carnage! Wherever he went, rivers of blood followed! Winter Night was terrified by Nie Yan and urgently shouted in the team chat, “Everyone, retreat!”

Upon receiving Winter Night’s message, the Silver Wings felt relieved and hastily withdrew.

Nie Yan looked ahead and saw the Necromancer Xin Sui turning to flee.

Trying to escape already? At least leave a few behind!

Nie Yan activated Dash Step, his speed increasing dramatically as he chased after Xin Sui.

Feeling Nie Yan closing in, Xin Sui’s heart tightened. He moved his right hand, producing a Scroll of Random Teleportation, intending to escape with it. However, just as he pulled it out, Nie Yan flicked his right hand and used a Scroll of War Shackles.

Xin Sui activated the Scroll of Random Teleportation but found it ineffective. He cursed under his breath, waved his staff, and cast Blink, teleporting himself five or six yards away.

But at this moment, Nie Yan’s speed had reached its peak. As soon as Xin Sui landed, Nie Yan had already rushed over, plunging the Bloody Dagger viciously into Xin Sui’s head from behind.

Xin Sui waved his staff, conjuring a Bone Shield between himself and Nie Yan.

With a bang, Nie Yan’s strike landed on the Bone Shield, causing it to tremble but not shatter.

Top-tier classes in the Empire of the Dead were extremely rare, with only about thirty so far. Each player who successfully transformed underwent arduous trials, so they each possessed genuine skills. Xin Sui’s timing and awareness were excellent.

In the entire Dark Faction, perhaps fewer than twenty could withstand several moves from Nie Yan.

While retreating, Xin Sui cast several curses on Nie Yan, but found them ineffective—his magic resistance was just too high!

With a bang, the Bone Shield shattered into pieces.

Xin Sui’s heart clenched again as he cast Blink once more, leaping over five yards away.

As Xin Sui used Blink, Nie Yan instantly dashed forward, appearing behind him.

Waving his staff, Xin Sui suddenly surrounded the area with a thick black mist. Nie Yan missed his strike, his vision reduced to less than a yard, pitch black and impossible to see, losing sight of his target.

True Sight!

Nie Yan’s gaze suddenly focused into a beam, piercing through the thick fog and immediately locking onto Xin Sui within.

At this moment, Xin Sui was casting trap spells, hoping to ambush Nie Yan using the fog, when suddenly he felt two piercing beams of sight penetrate the darkness, like hellish infernos. His heart pounded—he had been spotted by the Rogue Killer Nie Yan!

Xin Sui quickly waved his staff, raising over a dozen skeletons to block Nie Yan’s path, while he himself hastily retreated.

The skeletons blocked the way, but Nie Yan leaped over them, landing directly on Xin Sui.

Fear Howl!

Suddenly, Xin Sui opened his mouth and cast Fear Howl, a sharp sound sweeping outward.

Nie Yan quickly used a Willpower Resistance skill, and a large MISS floated above his head.

Necromancers excelled at summoning spells. After casting a forbidden spell, they could even summon thousands of skeleton armies or powerful boss-level skeletons. However, these skills were useless in a duel. All of Xin Sui’s skills were rendered ineffective against Nie Yan, and his previously unbeatable tactics were systematically dismantled.

Nie Yan used Shadow Step, reappearing behind Xin Sui.

Xin Sui was about to Blink away when Nie Yan suddenly locked him in place.

A sharp dagger appeared just an inch from his throat, then sliced across.

Instant Kill!

Xin Sui fell to the ground. Nie Yan looked into the distance and saw that the others had fled during this time. He checked Xin Sui’s drop—a Legendary Necklace, level 130, increasing Summoning Magic Power by 50%. A decent item.

Nie Yan thought that if he sold this necklace to Angel’s Fall, it would fetch a good price.

After collecting the item, he looked toward the village entrance. Several NPC warriors from the Demon Tribe resisted desperately but were incinerated by the Gold Dragon’s breath, falling lifeless. Paladin Lavers had also finished his fight and was walking over.

The village was now littered with corpses, completely deserted.

The ruined village, with only a few scattered straw huts, appeared particularly desolate.

Bennett’s spirit floated in front of Nie Yan, paused briefly, then drifted toward one of the huts.

Nie Yan followed inside, finding a shop with several old wooden cabinets. On them were various items—animal hides, bones, tools, gems, etc. In the corner were a large pile of scrolls, over a hundred in total.

Nie Yan checked them. These were all high-level scrolls, of various types—at least twenty different kinds. He estimated their total value at no less than 50,000 gold coins. The nearby gems were worth over 100,000 coins.

Nie Yan collected all these items into his backpack.

Nie Yan now understood why players from both factions liked attacking each other’s villages and towns. On enemy territory, they could loot freely without worrying about reputation loss, while even gaining honor. The temptation was huge.

Bennett’s spirit settled on a thumb-sized stone. It was polished, smooth, shaped somewhat like an oval but irregular.

Phineas Stone: Special Item. Effect: Unknown.

Nie Yan checked the stone’s attributes. Though its effect was unknown, he received a system prompt.

Quest Progress: Seek out the old goblin Monad with the Phineas Stone. He will provide some hints.

This was one of the quest steps. The quest didn’t indicate where the old goblin Monad was, but Nie Yan glanced at Bennett’s floating spirit—it might know!

After searching the area and finding nothing else, Nie Yan exited the short, dilapidated building.

At this moment, Nie Yan’s feat of capturing the village and slaughtering three to four hundred people was spreading like wildfire in the Dark Faction, causing a huge stir among players. A single player capturing a village defended by five or six hundred players and dozens of NPC guards—how incredible! Among those killed by Nie Yan were not only regular players but also a top-tier class expert from the Empire of the Dead and three Silver Wings!

Such an outrageous act could probably only be pulled off by Nie Yan.

The Dark Faction players now had a deeper understanding of Nie Yan’s strength. In the following period, few dared provoke Nie Yan again. Those eager to join the hunt for Nie Yan to seize the Deathbringer Blade and the Paternoster Hammer were cooled down. They finally calmed down—this person was no easy target, but the Rogue Killer Nie Yan!

Nie Yan walked to the village center, preparing to leave, when a scorching heat wave swept through, howling past, nearly tearing apart the surrounding buildings.

A tall figure appeared in Nie Yan’s vision. The creature looked very strange, somewhat human yet somewhat demonic, with a pair of horns on its head and a long tail behind its back, though no wings on its back.

The creature walked forward step by step, as if time itself froze. Its eyes emitted eerie red light, as if merely looking at someone would steal their soul.

It was a powerful boss-level NPC!

Nie Yan’s immediate reaction upon seeing the creature was this. Suddenly, he found his body very stiff, each movement extremely difficult. He checked his status—it was the Fear effect.

Not only Nie Yan, but Gold Dragon, Shadow Assassin, and Paladin Lavers were similarly frozen in place.

Nie Yan used Super Insight.

Half-Demon Angud: Legendary Demon, Level 180 Demonized Lord.

This creature was the same as the top state of Wandering Princess Aina—both were Level 180 Demonized Lords.

Half-Demon Angud approached closer. As he passed Paladin Lavers, he threw a punch. With a bang, Paladin Lavers was smashed flying—Instant Kill!

Where did this guy come from? Nie Yan never expected that merely slaughtering a village would attract such a powerful boss. The situation looked grim. Facing such a high-level Demonized Lord, Nie Yan likely wouldn’t survive today.

What terrible luck! Angel’s Fall had destroyed at least a dozen villages and towns in the Sater Empire, yet never encountered anything like this. Nie Yan, however, had just destroyed a tiny village—the smallest possible—and attracted such a formidable opponent!

Back then, to kill Wandering Princess Aina, Nie Yan had mobilized hundreds of thousands of troops, over 300 arrow and cannon towers, and over 50 catapults, tearing down half of Okolen City. Now, he faced Half-Demon Angud alone, with absolutely no hope of victory.
