Chapter 667: The Great Prophet!

Qin Han had acquired so many skeletons at once that his ambition was likely to swell even further. It wouldn’t be long before this guy attacked the major strongholds, since those were the places where players gathered more densely!

Over the next few days, Qin Han’s skeleton army slowly moved toward Carol City. Along the way, whether villages, small towns, or strongholds, everything was utterly destroyed. The thirteen strongholds of the War Alliance were under comprehensive assault. Ten of them turned into ruins. The War Alliance held fast in the remaining three strongholds, unmoved.

The ten fallen strongholds were abandoned on Nie Yan’s orders, in order to preserve strength and concentrate forces for defense. Of course, those ten strongholds weren’t simply handed over to Qin Han. Using the walls as a base, the War Alliance inflicted heavy casualties on the skeletons. Once the skeletons attacked the strongholds, the alliance immediately withdrew, killing enemies while avoiding massive casualties.

Qin Han’s skeleton army failed to capture the remaining three strongholds of the War Alliance. He left a large number of skeletons outside the strongholds while the rest continued advancing toward Carol City.

As for the necromancer Bodman and his bone dragon, no one knew where they had gone—they seemed to have vanished into thin air.

Faced with the imminent comprehensive assault of the undead army, Nie Yan began arranging the defense of the Bull Tribe, knowing it was unavoidable that many strongholds would have to be abandoned to consolidate the defensive lines.

Checking the time, Nie Yan noticed there were still more than ten minutes before logging off. Another day had passed. He wondered how the job class change missions of Dao Guang and the others were going.

With the rapid expansion of the undead forces, the system issued an announcement: the “Revenge of the Undead” expansion pack had been launched.

“Cursed undead! Their evil shadows appear again. They are like locusts, devouring all vitality. Children of the God of Light, take up your weapons and drive these evil creatures from our land!”

The Revenge of the Undead expansion has begun!

Since the number of skeletons had reached a significant scale, the Glinland Empire had to take notice. They dispatched a certain number of NPCs to clear out the skeletons and called on players to deal with them. As a result, Qin Han suddenly faced much greater pressure.

Just as Nie Yan was nervously directing his guild’s forces and eliminating skeletons, a crisp system prompt sounded.

Nie Yan glanced at the system notification.

System: Prediction of the Undead Revenge successful. Please proceed to the Elder Council of the Glinland Empire, where Emperor Jobia will confer upon you the title of Great Prophet.

Nie Yan already possessed the title of Great Prophet, but it required the endorsement of a high-ranking emperor like Jobia to become effective. Becoming a Great Prophet meant Nie Yan’s status within the Glinland Empire would be second only to Emperor Jobia, equivalent to the level of an Elder.

Seeing this message, Nie Yan felt a surge of excitement. He had long coveted the title of Great Prophet. He had originally thought the prediction of the Undead Revenge wouldn’t count, since his Great Divination had failed. Unexpectedly, it still took effect. Although the divination failed, Nie Yan had still informed Emperor Jobia in advance about the onset of the Undead Revenge.

He wondered what special rewards the title of Great Prophet would bring, and anticipation welled up inside him. However, it was already too late to go to the Elder Council of the Glinland Empire now. For the time being, he could only log off.

With a mix of anticipation and unease, Nie Yan severed the connection and stepped out of the game pod.

As usual, Nie Yan walked to class with Xie Yao.

The First Military Academy was as it always was, with streams of people constantly flowing along the forest paths.

After parting ways with Xie Yao, Nie Yan strolled into the classroom. As he entered, he suddenly sensed something was off. There were dozens of unfamiliar faces in the room.

Nie Yan’s gaze swept over them before finally landing on his own seat. Someone was sitting there. The guy wore a gray-white T-shirt and had a somewhat disreputable look, glancing at Nie Yan askance.

Xu Yan and others anxiously gestured to Nie Yan, signaling him to leave quickly.

Seeing the anxious expressions on Xu Yan and others’ faces, Nie Yan immediately understood—the newcomers were probably here to cause trouble.

There were more than thirty strangers in the classroom, each one physically imposing. From their aura, Nie Yan could sense that these people were no ordinary students.

Without the slightest fear, Nie Yan strode straight toward his seat.

Xu Yan and others slapped their foreheads. Nie Yan seemed completely oblivious to the danger. In such a situation, he should have left immediately, not walked straight into it.

“This classmate, you’re sitting in my seat. Please stand up,” Nie Yan said in a stiff tone.

The person showed no intention of standing, glancing at Nie Yan and replying, “My name is Song Chen. I’m a senior from the Mecha-Warfare Department.”

Nie Yan vaguely remembered hearing that name before—apparently, this guy had ranked quite high on a certain combat competition leaderboard. Nie Yan hadn’t participated in that competition, so the memory wasn’t very clear.

“I don’t know you,” Nie Yan replied dismissively.

Hearing Nie Yan’s words, Song Chen’s slightly smug expression froze on his face. He snorted coldly and said in a sinister tone, “I heard Lei Su wants to challenge you. I came to see how strong you really are and whether you’re even worthy of that challenge.”

Nie Yan understood now—this guy was here to provoke him. Nie Yan had absolutely no interest in such a pointless fight.

“That’s all of you?” Nie Yan said contemptuously.

“Damn, this kid’s too arrogant.”

“Just a freshman, acting so cocky. He needs a lesson to know his worth.”

The thirty-odd seniors nearby rolled up their sleeves, eager to start a fight. Even people like Zhao Shiyu and Fu Guangtao were too scared to utter a word in front of these seniors.

Seeing the group preparing to attack, Xu Yan, Xia Tianyu, Fei Zhe, and Chu Chenghao stood up one by one. They looked at Nie Yan, determination flashing in their eyes. Seeing them stand up, many other classmates from the class gradually rose as well, making up the majority of the Command Department. Fu Guangtao hesitated for a long time in his seat before finally standing up.

Seeing Fu Guangtao stand up, Zhao Shiyu and Bai Jun were somewhat surprised. They hesitated for a moment but did not follow suit, choosing instead to watch coldly from the sidelines.

Seeing so many students from the Command Department siding with Nie Yan, Song Chen sneered, “Didn’t expect the Command Department to have so many people with backbone.”

“This matter has nothing to do with them. Let’s go to the gym. It’s more spacious there,” Nie Yan said, his expression unchanged.

“This was your own request, not something we forced you into,” Song Chen said, flipping a coin in his hand as he looked at Nie Yan.

Xu Yan and others were about to say something when Nie Yan interrupted, “You all stay here. This has nothing to do with you.”

Nie Yan followed Song Chen toward the gym, with the thirty-odd people trailing behind. Five muscular seniors blocked the doorway, preventing Xu Yan and others from leaving. They were no match for these seniors. The gap in strength between freshmen and seniors was very apparent.

“Xu Yan, Nie Yan’s been taken away by them. What do we do?” Fei Zhe asked anxiously.

“Stay calm. Let me think,” Xu Yan hesitated for a moment before saying, “We have no choice. We’ll have to call Hua Sha and the others.”

Xu Yan took out his phone and dialed Li Hua Sha’s number.

Nearly thirty people surrounded Nie Yan in the center to prevent him from suddenly escaping.

Song Chen looked at Nie Yan with a cold smile. He had wanted to teach Nie Yan a lesson for a long time. On one hand, Lei Su’s public challenge had made Nie Yan the center of attention. On the other hand, Nie Yan was Xie Yao’s boyfriend, and Song Chen had been coveting Xie Yao himself, only to be beaten to the punch by Nie Yan, which naturally made him very unhappy.

Lei Su wasn’t the kind of person to stage publicity stunts. He had publicly challenged Nie Yan on the forum, likely because Nie Yan indeed possessed some real strength. To be safe, Song Chen had brought over thirty people. Even if Lei Su showed up, he would still be outnumbered and end up getting beaten.

Song Chen had done this sort of thing many times at the First Military Academy. Every time, the victims could only swallow their anger and admit it was a fair duel.

The group entered the gym, closed the door behind them, and no one outside had any idea what was happening inside.

Nie Yan’s gaze swept over the group around him, noting their body types, muscle distribution, walking styles, and more. Ever since he had advanced to Shadow Dancer, Nie Yan’s martial arts skills had improved significantly. He now possessed an acute perception that allowed him to judge an opponent’s strength and identify their weaknesses just by observing their posture and movements. This sharp intuition enabled Nie Yan to unleash astonishing destructive power during hand-to-hand combat.

Some students who saw Nie Yan being led into the gym silently mourned for him. Similar incidents had happened many times before. Nie Yan was likely about to suffer a severe beating.

The thirty-odd people surrounded Nie Yan, forming a circle around him.

“Do you want a one-on-one or a group fight?” Song Chen looked at Nie Yan mockingly. Nie Yan basically had no choice. Song Chen would let one person fight Nie Yan first. If Nie Yan lost, he would be beaten badly. If he won, then it would become a group fight.

“You can all come at once. Saves trouble,” Nie Yan said calmly. He stretched his body a bit. It had been a long time since he had fought outside the game. He wondered how strong he was now. But he could clearly feel that he was much stronger than before. He couldn’t help feeling a bit eager to fight.

There were many opponents, and he might encounter some trouble. It seemed he would have to go all out.

“This was your own choice,” Song Chen looked at Nie Yan, who remained as calm as ever, feeling a bit frustrated. Nie Yan gave him a feeling of being unfathomable. But considering that he had more than thirty people on his side, Song Chen thought confidently that they could definitely take Nie Yan down.

“Fate decides life and death. No more nonsense,” Nie Yan slowly clenched his fists. A surge of wild power rose in his arms, like a flood or a ferocious beast, eager to be unleashed.
