Chapter 659: The First Archmage!!

Emperor Jobiah was an aged yet vigorous elder, wearing a silver-white robe that exuded great authority. The other six elders were also in their sixties or seventies.

Nie Yan cast his gaze toward one of the elders. This elder had a hooked nose and sharp eyes like a hawk. The rather gloomy man was Elder Redwin, who had been quite famous among players in a previous life, albeit not for positive reasons.

“Greetings, Emperor Jobiah,” Karl placed his right hand on his chest and slightly bowed.

“Hello, Mr. Karl,” Emperor Jobiah nodded with a smile.

“Your Majesty, I have just received news that the wicked necromancer Bodman has returned. He is assembling an undead legion in the eastern part of Emerald City. If left unchecked, this will become a catastrophe for the Empire of Grelan.”

Karl then asked Nie Yan to report what he had seen and heard.

After listening to Nie Yan, Emperor Jobiah furrowed his brow in contemplation.

Nie Yan gazed at this legendary figure. Emperor Jobiah rarely appeared in public, always keeping a low profile. Even during the previous wave of Undead Revenge that swept across the Empires of Grelan and Sathen, he had not emerged. However, at that time, there was no need for him to appear, as the Holy Temple’s Paladins and several legendary NPCs had already controlled the situation.

Nie Yan thus speculated that Qin Han was essentially bringing destruction upon himself. The Undead Revenge was merely an expansion pack; no matter how powerful it was, it could only be a fleeting phenomenon. There was no way Qin Han could completely destroy the Empires of Grelan and Sathen. Nie Yan wondered what Qin Han was thinking. Perhaps Qin Han intended to preserve his forces and use a destructive method, overwhelming the Niu Ren Tribe with an army of skeletons, after which his faction would dominate. Even if he had to delete his character and restart, it would be worth it.

If Qin Han indeed had such plans, Nie Yan was even more determined not to let him succeed easily.

“I once foresaw a powerful dark force. So I headed to the east of Emerald City and made this astonishing discovery,” Nie Yan said, trying to mention his divination abilities.

“Divination?” Emperor Jobiah now noticed Nie Yan’s identity as a scholar.

“You claim to have discovered the necromancer Bodman in Emerald City. Do you have any evidence to prove your information?” Elder Redwin spoke up, his tone almost interrogative.

What an annoying fellow! Nie Yan inwardly disliked Elder Redwin but did not show it. He took out all the items he had collected from his backpack, including the necklace, all emanating a strong dark aura.

“Even with these items, you cannot prove that your information is trustworthy,” Elder Redwin stated, seemingly deliberately opposing Nie Yan.

Nie Yan frowned slightly. In the game, many NPCs were not particularly likable, and Elder Redwin was one of them.

If Nie Yan had sufficient status within the Empire of Grelan, he could completely ignore these annoying NPCs.

Everyone turned their eyes to Emperor Jobiah, awaiting his decision.

After a moment of silence, Emperor Jobiah said, “Mr. Nieyan, you may return first. We will consider the information you provided, but for now, we cannot give you any response.”

Nie Yan nodded. The NPCs’ reactions were within his expectations. This was merely a setup; when the Undead Revenge truly began, these people would recall his words.

“Your Majesty Emperor Jobiah, I shall take my leave now. May the glory of the Father be with you,” Nie Yan slightly bowed and stepped out.

As he exited the hall, Nie Yan seemed to catch a glimpse of Elder Redwin’s sinister smile.

Nie Yan’s heart sank.

Karl also bid farewell to the elders and followed Nie Yan out of the hall.

“Don’t lose heart. Emperor Jobiah will consider this carefully,” Karl smiled.

Looking at Karl’s warm smile, Nie Yan felt, for the first time, that an NPC could display such vivid expressions. However, there was still a gap between NPCs and players. Their dialogues were all pre-programmed, lacking the naturalness of ordinary players.

“Thank you, Mr. Karl,” Nie Yan nodded.

After bidding farewell to Nie Yan, Karl headed toward the Holy Temple. Watching Karl’s figure disappear around the corner, Nie Yan couldn’t help but think how impressive it would be if he could make Karl his servant.

That was impossible for now. It would likely take at least until the Niu Ren Tribe had fifty to sixty top-tier professional players before Nie Yan could realize this dream.

Nie Yan headed toward the warehouse, needing to clear out some items and prepare for an upcoming operation.

“Guo Huai, gather all the flying mounts of the Niu Ren Tribe,” Nie Yan said. Previously, the flying mounts of the Niu Ren Tribe had been recovering from injuries; those with minor injuries were now almost healed. He could now feed them crystals to enhance their levels.

Nie Yan organized his warehouse and received a message from Guo Huai that all the flying mounts of the Niu Ren Tribe had already assembled in the open area in front of the guild headquarters in Krips Fortress. He then took a large number of crystals and teleported to Krips Fortress.

Outside the guild headquarters of Krips Fortress, there was a closed training ground capable of accommodating five or six thousand people. At this moment, two to three hundred people had gathered here. Nearly half of them had flying mounts, while the others had come out of curiosity.

Seeing Nie Yan arrive, the guild members greeted him enthusiastically.

“Boss!”

“Boss!”

Nie Yan nodded.

They were all curious about why Nie Yan had summoned them. Was there a mission?

“Summon your flying mounts,” Nie Yan said.

Following Nie Yan’s command, the players scattered to various parts of the open ground and summoned their pets.

The square was instantly filled with over a hundred different flying mounts, causing the gathered members of the Niu Ren Tribe to marvel in astonishment. This was the air force of the Niu Ren Tribe! Although it was still not as strong as Angel Dominion, given the different starting points, it had already become quite formidable.

Nie Yan distributed crystals to the owners of the flying mounts based on each pet’s attributes.

“Crystals! Boss, where did you get these from?” A member of the Niu Ren Tribe exclaimed in surprise.

Everyone turned their eyes toward Nie Yan.

“I got them in the Ancient World during my class change,” Nie Yan replied. After all, it was no secret that he had completed a class change in the Ancient World. Even if other guilds knew he had acquired many crystals from there, they couldn’t just organize teams to go farming in the Ancient World. Therefore, revealing the source of the crystals was not a problem.

Each person received at least five or six crystals, which still astonished them. Having so many crystals was truly impressive.

Nie Yan checked his backpack. These were just a small portion, all being crystals of fourth tier or below. He had reserved the fifth and sixth tier crystals for future use when they obtained higher-level flying mounts. He still had over a thousand crystals in his backpack, so giving each person five or six crystals was enough for their flying mounts to process for now.

“Feed them a little at a time. This will ensure that the flying mounts don’t sleep for too long,” Nie Yan instructed the players.

“Got it.”

They began feeding their respective flying mounts on the spot, usually starting with the lowest-tier crystals, feeding only one at a time.

Nie Yan also fed several low-tier crystals to his own Darkwing Dragon. He dared not feed it dragon crystals for now because the energy contained in dragon crystals was too powerful. If the Darkwing Dragon couldn’t digest them, it would fall into a temporary slumber.

If it fell asleep, the Darkwing Dragon would temporarily become unusable, which would be very frustrating.

Nie Yan received a message from the Niu Ren Tribe’s rogue group. He had dispatched them to investigate the expansion speed of the Undead Revenge.

The undead were expanding rapidly. Currently, Qin Han had revived at least 150,000 to 160,000 skeletons. A force of 150,000 skeletons was already terrifying; if they continued expanding, it would be catastrophic.

What frustrated Nie Yan was that Xie Yao and the others were currently undergoing class changes. Otherwise, organizing some top-tier players to eliminate the skeletons could at least slow down their expansion.

Thinking about the future, facing an overwhelming tide of skeletons made Nie Yan’s scalp tingle.

He wondered if there was any way to deal with these skeletons.

Nie Yan racked his brains but felt somewhat at a loss. He could only ask the guild’s production classes to prepare more light-element scrolls, ornaments, potions, and other items. Light-element was effective against the undead. Suddenly, he remembered that he could also recruit thirty paladins from the Holy Temple to serve him. Paladins from the Holy Temple were generally quite powerful, and thirty of them would be a significant force, especially against undead creatures. Holy Light could deal 200% damage to undead beings.

However, these measures were still far from sufficient to deal with the Undead Revenge. He would have to figure out more solutions later.

Nie Yan headed toward the Holy Temple, intending to see what kind of paladins he could summon. On the way, he suddenly received a message from Tang Yao.

“I have successfully completed my class change.”

Tang Yao’s message made Nie Yan pause for a moment before he joyfully replied, “An Archmage?”

“Yes!” Tang Yao nodded.

Nie Yan hadn’t expected Tang Yao to finish his class change so quickly, much faster than others. It seemed that his class change had gone smoothly.

“That’s fantastic,” Nie Yan exclaimed with excitement. Having an Archmage meant they possessed another formidable weapon to counter the skeletons.

Nie Yan recalled that in his previous life, during the time of the Undead Revenge, there were no top-tier classes yet. Players were mostly around levels 80 to 90, which was why level 100 skeletons were so difficult to handle.

Perhaps they didn’t need to worry about what the NPCs would do. If the Niu Ren Tribe had a few Archmages, what was there to fear!
