Chapter 656: Shoot!!

In combat, for ranged classes, a twenty-yard difference in range can make a world of difference, especially when movement speeds are similar. The one with shorter range becomes useless no matter how high their spell damage is. Moreover, in terms of speed, Qin Han was clearly no match for Nie Yan at all.

A twenty-yard distance allowed for complete domination. Nie Yan revealed a mocking smile. “Watch how I kill you this time.”

Nie Yan dashed forward, moving swiftly and deftly pulling arrows from his backpack, loading them onto his cavalry crossbow. Within three seconds, he had aimed at Qin Han and pulled the trigger.

One great advantage of the cavalry crossbow was its excellent stability while moving. As long as the distance was calculated accurately, even rapid movement wouldn’t affect its precision.

Arrows flew like meteors, tracing straight paths across the sky toward Qin Han.

Qin Han used his Any Gate ability to dodge five incoming arrows. But before he could stabilize himself, another barrage came flying toward him.

Under Nie Yan’s relentless ranged assault, all of Qin Han’s powerful skills became useless decorations on his skill bar.

At first, Qin Han managed to dodge with rhythmic precision, but as he depleted his evasion abilities such as Blink, his movements grew increasingly awkward. When five arrows simultaneously targeted him and he had no skills remaining, he could only desperately throw himself into a roll to escape.

Thud! Thud! Thud! The five arrows struck the ground more than five yards behind him.

As he was about to stand up, another five arrows came flying toward him, forcing him to roll away again.

Qin Han mentally cursed, “F***, what kind of attack speed is this!”

Nie Yan’s high agility and fast attack speed, combined with the upgraded performance of the Headless Rider Dolo’s cavalry crossbow, made his crossbow fire rate absolutely monstrous.

The fastest attack speed of the cavalry crossbow could reach an attack interval of 0.37 seconds. Nie Yan’s agility and attack speed weren’t high enough to reach that limit. His fastest rate was 1.87 seconds, generally stable between 2.5 to 2.9 seconds. Even so, it was still terrifying. As he loaded more times, Nie Yan’s movements became increasingly proficient, gradually shortening the attack intervals.

Qin Han had to face five incoming arrows every two or three seconds. That he had survived this long was already very impressive.

Qin Han quickly ducked behind a large rock.

The rock blocked Nie Yan’s line of sight, giving him some temporary relief.

Qin Han opened his Book of Death and waved his staff. More than ten skeleton warriors appeared before him. Hidden among them, he immediately felt much safer.

“It’s my turn now,” Qin Han gritted his teeth. This was definitely the most humiliating moment he had ever experienced.

Seeing Qin Han’s clumsy dodging and hiding behind a rock, Nie Yan smirked. This was just the beginning. Up to now, he had only used regular arrows, which didn’t deal much damage even if they hit. The real danger was yet to come.

Nie Yan quickly circled around the rock, raising his cavalry crossbow. Behind the rock, there were now more than ten skeletons, but Qin Han himself had disappeared.

Nie Yan frowned, suddenly realizing it must be an invisibility potion.

“True Sight!”

A strange red glow shimmered in Nie Yan’s eyes. As his gaze swept over the area, a faint figure appeared among the skeletons.

Nie Yan raised his cavalry crossbow, locking onto Qin Han among the skeletons, and pulled the trigger. Five arrows shot out. He quickly drew another five arrows—three Bleeding Arrows and two Bone Spike Arrows—loaded them with practiced efficiency. 1.65 seconds, his top speed. Another five arrows flew out.

Among the skeletons, Qin Han saw Nie Yan’s gaze, as if the eyes of a demon, and his heart skipped a beat. “F***, what kind of eye ability is this? He can lock onto me from this distance!”

The invisibility potion Qin Han used was relatively weak compared to a rogue’s stealth ability. Combined with Nie Yan’s enhanced True Sight ability, especially after advancing to Shadow Dancer, its effect was greatly increased. Naturally, Qin Han couldn’t hide.

“Mad Rogue Nie Yan, you’re pretty good. But do you really think you can kill me with arrows?” Qin Han coldly snorted. He waved his staff, and a skeleton warrior with a bone shield immediately stepped in front of him. Meanwhile, five skeleton archers with bows flanked Nie Yan. Their range was about eighty yards, so they needed to get closer to attack.

Clang! Clang! Clang! Five arrows were blocked by the skeleton warrior’s bone shield. Floating damage numbers of seven or eight thousand appeared above its head.

Nie Yan, not being an archery class, had limited attack power.

Nie Yan frowned slightly at the skeleton’s health. Thirty thousand hit points. If he used arrows to kill it, how long would that take?

Seeing his arrows blocked by the skeleton, Qin Han wore a smug smile. “Mad Rogue Nie Yan, show me all your tricks!”

Clang! Clang! Clang! Another five arrows struck the skeleton. Although its health dropped significantly, it still stood firm in front of Qin Han.

Seeing Nie Yan still relentlessly shooting at the skeleton in front of him, Qin Han sneered. “You idiot, you think you can kill the skeleton like this?” He waved his staff and cast Dark Healing on the skeleton, instantly restoring its health.

“Shoot! Keep shooting!” Qin Han’s smile twisted and grotesque. He looked ahead and saw the five skeleton archers had approached within eighty yards of Nie Yan.

Nie Yan remained calm and composed, pulling another five arrows and firing them at the skeleton.

Still not giving up, Qin Han smirked contemptuously, safely hiding behind the skeleton.

The first two arrows were blocked by the skeleton’s shield.

The third arrow, a Bone Spike Arrow, pierced through the edge of the shield, striking the skeleton’s heart. With a bang, the skeleton’s bones shattered into pieces upon impact. The Bone Spike Arrow pierced through the skeleton and flew toward Qin Han behind it.

Nie Yan’s pupils contracted sharply. After so many arrows, the piercing effect had finally triggered!

This was exactly what he had been waiting for!

Without hesitation, Nie Yan continued loading five more arrows, aiming at the panicked Qin Han, and pulled the trigger.

Qin Han, hiding behind the skeleton, was less than two yards away from it, with an object in front of him, so he naturally felt no sense of danger. He never expected Nie Yan’s arrows to have a piercing effect.

Thus, Qin Han met his doom.

In such a short time, he couldn’t react at all. He was just about to panic and wave his staff to dodge when, with a thud, the Bone Spike Arrow pierced into his right chest.

The Bone Spike Arrow instantly triggered its mechanism, deeply embedding itself into Qin Han’s flesh, lodging between his ribs.

A sharp pain caused Qin Han to inhale sharply. His health dropped by more than half. He wanted to run, wanted to drink a healing potion, but his body wouldn’t obey.

It was a crippling effect!

Before Qin Han could react, a cold gleam flashed before his eyes.

“I’m done for!” Qin Han thought despairingly.

A Bleeding Arrow pierced through his forehead, exiting from the back of his head, blood spurting out.

Qin Han’s eyes gradually lost focus. He fell to the ground. All the skeletons, including the five archers, disintegrated into pieces, scattering on the ground as broken bones.

Nie Yan smiled slightly, satisfied with his performance. The perfect shot to Qin Han’s forehead was comparable to that of a professional monster hunter.

This was his first time killing a spellcaster with a bow. What a thrilling feeling.

Wizards were nothing special. No matter how powerful a spellcaster was, they still died after being hit by two arrows.

Perhaps Qin Han had some powerful skills he hadn’t used yet, but even the strongest skills were useless against a 120-yard range.

Nie Yan put away the Headless Rider Dolo’s cavalry crossbow and walked toward where Qin Han’s body had fallen, wondering whether this guy had dropped anything.

Beside Qin Han’s body lay a thick ancient book.

Nie Yan showed a hint of surprise. Wasn’t this the off-hand item Qin Han had been holding earlier?

Using a book as an off-hand item was common among spellcasters. Nie Yan recalled seeing Qin Han flipping through this book while summoning skeletons behind the rock. He wondered what attributes the book had.

Nie Yan picked up the book. A powerful dark force surged through him as he checked its attributes.

Book of Death (Legendary): Special item, increases Dark Magic by 50%.

Besides this attribute, the Book of Death contained five advanced spells, which required certain conditions to cast.

Amazing stats! It boosted Dark Magic. Nie Yan thought for a moment and decided to give the Book of Death to Tang Yao. He wondered whether an Arcane Mage could use it. If so, with such a powerful off-hand item, Tang Yao’s strength would increase dramatically.

After putting away the Book of Death, Nie Yan recalled the Gold Earth Dragon and the Holy Knight Lavers, who had just defeated the Skeleton King in the distance. He needed to move to another location, otherwise after Qin Han resurrected, he would certainly send people to chase him down in rage. Thinking about how Qin Han might look, Nie Yan sneered coldly. He knew their rivalry had only just begun.

As Nie Yan was about to leave, Guardian Angel Kalenna waved her staff. A white beam of light fell on Qin Han’s body. In the white light, Qin Han’s body gradually dissolved and vanished.

Nie Yan was slightly surprised. He looked at his status bar and saw the Holy Spirit Heart’s experience bar had surged, and the fourth seal was gradually loosening.

Perhaps after turning into an Undead, Qin Han was now classified as Dark-aligned!

Nie Yan had a mischievous thought: if he killed Qin Han once more, would the fourth seal of the Zennad Blade be broken?
