Nie Yan reconstructed the fortress based on several ruined forts in Cortes City, arranged defenses, and prepared to steadily eliminate all the guilds in Cortes City. During the offensive launched by the Savages Tribe, some guilds that had not joined the Monet Consortium, under the pressure of the situation, gave up resistance and expressed their willingness to join the Savages Tribe.
Nie Yan imposed very stringent requirements on them before permitting them to join guilds such as the Holy Roman Empire, the Temple of Kalon, and the Tribe of War God. These guilds collectively boasted over a hundred thousand members. After integrating them, the strength of these guilds would be substantially enhanced.
It was another full day. As dusk approached, Nie Yan instructed the players of the Bull Tribe to enter the newly constructed fortress, reinforcing its defenses in preparation for continuing operations the next day.
To Nie Yan’s surprise, the Monet Consortium had not made any move at all.
The Monet Consortium was like a wild beast lurking in the darkness. The series of actions by the Niuren Tribe had already enraged it. It was just waiting for the right moment to pounce and deliver a heavy bite.
The Temple of the Dead.
Ordinary players likely had little knowledge of the existence of such a temple within the Greenland Empire.
The Temple of the Dead was situated deep within the mist at the northwestern border of the Greenland Empire. Outside the temple lay a labyrinth, and the paths within shifted each time, making it exceedingly rare for anyone to successfully traverse the maze and reach the Temple of the Dead. Even if one managed to arrive, gaining entry was a formidable challenge, as most of the creatures inside were above level 100.
Several teams had accidentally ventured in before, but they were all annihilated. After discovering the existence of the Temple of the Dead, the Godslayer Sword never ceased its exploration of this area.
Eventually, Qin Han and Shen Jian Wushuang, the leader of the God-Slaying Sword, led a team into this place. They bypassed the guards of the Hall of the Dead and entered the inner sanctum, though their losses were severe. Because the undead inside harbored particular hatred for priests and paladins, they immediately targeted these holy warriors upon entry. As a result, the priests and paladins were swiftly eliminated, leaving only five members of the team to make it into the Hall of the Dead.
Inside the Hall of the Dead, eerie bas-reliefs covered every surface. At the front of the hall loomed a massive skull bas-relief, its hollow eye sockets flickering with ghostly green flames.
Qin Han’s face was hidden beneath a black hood as he curiously looked around, filled with curiosity about this temple.
Upon entering the Hall of the Dead, he immediately sensed a voice summoning him and unconsciously walked toward the front of the temple.
“Brother Qin Han, what’s wrong?” the others noticed something was off with Qin Han.
Shen Jian Wushuang, wearing a set of sapphire-blue warrior armor, was about to say something.
Qin Han waved his hand and said, “Everyone stay where you are.”
The others stopped, looking at Qin Han in confusion, watching him head straight toward the front of the temple.
Suddenly, the green flames in the eye sockets of the giant skull carved into the stone wall at the front of the temple blazed brightly.
As Qin Han reached the very front of the temple, an old, decrepit coffin came into view, exuding a chilling aura of death. The coffin was badly decayed, and faintly inside lay a corpse. Suddenly, he recalled a mission he had previously received and checked his mission progress.
System: Do you wish to follow the will of death and resurrect the necromancer Bodeman?
Qin Han walked up to the coffin and opened the lid. A foul stench rose up, nearly making him vomit.
Looking into the coffin, he saw a skeleton lying there. The skeleton wore tattered clothes, its bones were dark gray, covered with rotting flesh, and extremely grotesque. This was the necromancer Bodeman.
Qin Han hesitated. If he decided to resurrect the necromancer, it would mean he had betrayed the faith of light and would become a public enemy of the Greenland Empire.
For the sake of power, after a moment’s thought, he gritted his teeth, stretched out his right hand, which held a black pendant glowing faintly. He gathered a mass of dark energy in his palm and slowly pressed it down onto the necromancer. The dark energy gradually seeped into the body of the necromancer Bodeman.
After a while, the eye sockets of the necromancer Bodeman suddenly ignited with green flames. His fingers twitched slightly, and his gaze fell upon Qin Han.
Instantly, Qin Han felt locked in by a chilling force, unable to move.
In the main hall of the Hall of the Deceased, Shen Jian Wushuang and several teammates waited anxiously.
“Brother Shen Jian, Qin Han has been inside for so long. Why hasn’t he come out yet? Could something have happened?” a player asked.
“Yeah, should we go in and check?”
“Stay calm,” Shen Jian Wushuang shook his head. If something had really happened, there would have been a system announcement by now.
“Brother Qin Han is coming out!”
Shen Jian Wushuang and the others looked into the distance. Qin Han’s attire had changed slightly from when he entered—he had taken off his black hood. Beside him was another person, wearing Qin Han’s black hood, his face completely obscured, making it impossible to see what he looked like.
Shen Jian Wushuang and the others rushed forward, immediately feeling a chilling aura emanating from the stranger.
“Brother Qin Han, you’re finally out.”
Shen Jian Wushuang glanced at this strange figure beside Qin Han, wanting to ask what had happened inside and how this extra person had appeared.
Qin Han interrupted him, “Let’s go back.”
The words Shen Jian Wushuang wanted to ask were swallowed back down. He was filled with doubts but dared not ask. Qin Han had always disliked too many questions from subordinates. He just felt that the aura radiating from the person in the black hood made him extremely uneasy.
The group vanished into the depths of the Hall of the Dead.
After handling affairs in Korte City, Nie Yan returned to Carol City and made his way to his personal vault.
He planned to organize his inventory. As he walked through the streets, he felt that Carol City today was somehow different from usual. A mass of dark clouds lingered in the sky, blocking sunlight and making the city gloomy and cold, with temperatures significantly lower than usual.
Nie Yan recalled that in a past life, the entire Greenland Empire had once been shrouded in dark clouds for a period. Days were as dim as evenings, lasting nearly a month.
Suddenly, Nie Yan thought of something—could that event be about to happen again?
New expansion pack—The Undead’s Revenge!
Of course, this was only his guess. If a new expansion were truly launching, there would be a system announcement. Perhaps the current dark clouds were just normal weather fluctuations. Changes in Carol City’s weather were common.
