Chapter 596: Escape

Nie Yan’s spider silk traced a curve through the air and adhered to the leather armor. Instantly taut, it whooshed as it yanked the armor flying toward him.

Seeing the leather armor flying his way, Nie Yan’s heart pounded with tension. He reached out and grabbed it. Without even checking its attributes, he threw it straight into his backpack.

At the moment Nie Yan put the leather armor into his bag, Princess Aina, the wandering soul in the center of the grand hall, heard the noise. Her gaze locked onto Nie Yan.

Princess Aina’s eyes flared with red light as she displayed a hideous expression filled with hatred.

Princess Aina uttered a string of incomprehensible undead language. Waving her staff, she shrieked piercingly and fiercely, unleashing a massive black net toward Nie Yan.

He had already obtained the item and wanted to leave immediately. Suddenly, Nie Yan realized he couldn’t use his scroll of random teleportation. Checking his status bar, he noticed a new condition: Soul Lock.

Soul Lock was a curse from Princess Aina. During this period, no teleportation items could be used.

Damn! Watching the black net descending from above, Nie Yan leaped off the wall, dashed forward using a gust step, and fled toward the exit of the hall.

Without the use of the scroll of random teleportation, he had no choice but to run out of this underground palace manually.

The black net missed its target. Princess Aina waved her staff again, launching a black orb into the sky. Locating Nie Yan, she waved her staff once more, sending a series of blazing fireballs crashing down toward his location.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Sparks flew everywhere.

Nie Yan wasn’t directly hit by the fireballs, but he was splashed by the sparks, taking damage ranging from seven to eight hundred points.

Drawing a master-level speed potion, his movement speed surged to over a thousand. Nie Yan dashed forward furiously, glancing at Princess Aina’s level.

Princess Aina: Level 100 mutated leader.

With a total of more than eight million hit points, she was a terrifying opponent. Nie Yan dared not stay any longer and, taking advantage of the master-level speed potion, rushed out of the hall.

At the entrance of the hall stood more than twenty blood sacrifice maidens. Upon spotting Nie Yan, they immediately placed their hands at their waists, gathering balls of red light, which they shot toward him.

Seeing so many red fireballs shooting his way, Nie Yan quickly executed a shadow dance step, swiftly passing by them.

Behind him, Princess Aina had already emerged from the stone door and, using a blink, suddenly disappeared from her original spot, reappearing in front of Nie Yan. Swinging her staff, she cast Shadow Bind. Tendrils of shadow lashed out like tentacles, attempting to ensnare Nie Yan.

Princess Aina was proving to be extremely troublesome. As the binding force threatened to trap him, Nie Yan quickly activated Death Immunity and lunged toward Princess Aina.

Seeing Nie Yan rush up close, Princess Aina growled in her throat and opened her mouth, releasing a piercing roar.

Terrifying Howl!

At the moment Princess Aina unleashed the Terrifying Howl, Nie Yan activated Mental Immunity.

A sharp, ear-piercing sound swept through the air, like a high-pitched speaker being punctured, vibrating Nie Yan’s eardrums.

Thankfully, he had timely used Mental Immunity; otherwise, he would have been finished. If controlled by the Terrifying Howl, there would have been no chance of escape.

At this moment, Nie Yan’s dagger struck the forehead of Princess Aina, stunning her. Princess Aina’s scream abruptly ceased as she entered a stunned state.

Princess Aina had high evasion. If not for her casting of Terrifying Howl, it wouldn’t have been easy for Nie Yan to control her.

Nie Yan sidestepped, moving behind Princess Aina. Tilting his body, he drove his dagger into her back—Spinal Sever!

With a crack, the dagger accurately pierced Princess Aina’s spine, leaving her crippled.

The Spinal Sever skill was most effective against humanoid monsters. Princess Aina would likely remain stunned for about five seconds.

It was impossible to kill Princess Aina. Seeing her immobilized by Spinal Sever, Nie Yan didn’t dare to linger. He dashed frantically outward. His speed was already quite impressive when running at full capacity, but he still felt it wasn’t fast enough. Aiming at a beam at the top of the corridor in the distance, he extended his left hand and shot out a strand of spider silk.

The spider silk stuck to the beam. With a strong pull, Nie Yan shot up like a rocket, flying forward more than ten yards instantly. Nie Yan’s figure was as fast as a fleeting shadow. The dark maidens that spawned in the corridor spotted him but couldn’t react before he had already rushed past their attack range. The dark maidens were left in chaos.

After five seconds, Princess Aina recovered from her crippled state. Looking ahead, she found that Nie Yan had long vanished. She pursued in the direction he had fled, but the chaotic dark maidens blocked her path, preventing her from chasing. She could only roar in fury.

Rushing frantically along the way back, Nie Yan exited the underground palace and summoned his Darkwing Drake, mounting it swiftly.

The Darkwing Drake flapped its wings, soaring into the sky, quickly disappearing into the clouds.

Looking at the Soul Lock status on his status bar, if the Soul Lock wasn’t removed, would he never be able to use recall scrolls or random teleport scrolls? Would he always be tracked by Princess Aina?

If that were the case, it would be troublesome.

He estimated that only by defeating Princess Aina could the Soul Lock be removed.

He must defeat Princess Aina, or else there would be endless trouble. However, a level 100 mutated leader was beyond his capability.

Thinking further, if he returned to Carol City, Princess Aina would definitely not follow. Generally speaking, unless the monster was overwhelmingly powerful, they wouldn’t attack big cities. Could he lure Princess Aina to a village and use the NPCs to defeat her?

Just like the previous Order Warden, who was defeated by the village guards. Level 100 mutated leaders generally wouldn’t attack large cities, but attacking villages and small towns was common.

Nie Yan quickly decided on a plan: lure Princess Aina to Krasu Village!

Krasu Village was one of the few villages with very few players. However, the NPCs there were of high level, at least level 90 or above. With over 300 NPCs in the entire village, they should be able to handle Princess Aina.

If Princess Aina followed him there, it would be quite a spectacle. A slight smile appeared on Nie Yan’s lips. This way, he could save himself a lot of trouble. Fighting Princess Aina directly would be tantamount to suicide.
