Chapter 44: Dusk – A Faerie’s Secret

“Then who should we look for?” Miao Miao asked. She was thinking that although her classmate was in Guangming Shengyan, there had been no direct conflict between him and Nie Yan, so maybe the situation could be eased. Perhaps she could introduce them to each other later, but today was not the right time.

“I know someone from the Holy Roman Empire, called Huihuang. He’s an Arcanist with 52 magic damage, but I don’t know if he’s available today. They’ve already cleared the Heiyan Forest and are preparing for the Ogmart Mudflats. Asking him to come here to the Treant Grove might be a stretch. I’ll send him a message and check,” said the shield warrior, Bai Kaishui, after a moment of contemplation.

After a while, Yu Lan asked, “Bai Kaishui, how is it going? Is he willing to come?”

“He agreed,” Bai Kaishui replied excitedly. It was an unexpected surprise. He had only met this friend a few times while grouping together to kill monsters before. That he was willing to come showed a great deal of face.

“That makes exactly twenty people. Once he arrives, we can set off,” Nie Yan nodded. It was quite a coincidence that he was from the Holy Roman Empire.

“Big Brother Bai really has clout, even being able to bring someone from the Holy Roman Empire’s elite group,” Chen Bo flattered, glancing at Nie Yan and Tang Yao. If the Treant Grove run went smoothly, Nie Yan and Tang Yao might frequently join their team activities. He was determined to find a way to get rid of these two uninvited guests, so he wanted to rally more people to his side.

“Oh, that friend is just very considerate,” Bai Kaishui felt proud as well.

“He’s the real expert. They’re already heading to the Ogmart Mudflats, so they must have cleared the Treant Grove before. It might be better to let him be the leader,” Chen Bo glanced at Nie Yan and Tang Yao.

That Chen Bo really annoyed Tang Yao. If Nie Yan hadn’t stopped him, he would have already exploded in anger.

“If he has cleared the Treant Grove before, letting him lead would be fine,” Nie Yan replied indifferently.

“You finally admit your incompetence. If you knew you couldn’t handle it, you shouldn’t have shown off,” Chen Bo seized the advantage, not knowing when to stop.

“Chen Bo…” Yu Lan frowned and called out, her tone quite displeased.

Seeing Yu Lan’s anger, Chen Bo muttered a few words but said nothing more.

After a while, a beam of white light flashed in Tekar Town, and a figure appeared at the teleportation array. It was an Arcanist wearing a black arcane robe, around twenty-six or twenty-seven years old. His black robe was covered with mysterious runes, looking mysterious and solemn. Nie Yan immediately recognized it as the Arcanist’s Dark First Winter set, currently the top-tier gear for Arcanists. The Dark First Winter set was on the same level as Tang Yao’s Emberchaser set, but the Emberchaser was more suitable for Elementalists, while the Dark First Winter was more suitable for Arcanists. Therefore, for an Arcanist, the Emberchaser couldn’t compare to the Dark First Winter.

“Hey, Brother Huihuang, long time no see,” Bai Kaishui went forward to greet him.

“Long time no see,” Huihuang also greeted Bai Kaishui and glanced at everyone, saying, “Hello, everyone.” There was a faint air of arrogance in Huihuang’s tone. He was from the Holy Roman Empire’s elite group, which was on an entirely different level compared to a small team like Yu Lan’s. If it weren’t for the fact that he happened to be free today while his team was preparing for the Ogmart Mudflats, and considering that Bai Kaishui was a decent guy with whom he had some connection, he wouldn’t have bothered coming.

“This is our team leader, Yu Lan,” Bai Kaishui introduced Yu Lan.

Huihuang nodded at Yu Lan and smiled, “Didn’t expect your leader to be a beautiful lady. Hello, beauty.” Huihuang greeted Yu Lan. After all, he had seen the world and didn’t show any sign of being flustered when faced with a beauty like Yu Lan, appearing courteous and witty.

Yu Lan nodded slightly, “Hello.” This Huihuang still had the bearing of a high-level player.

Chen Bo approached Bai Kaishui, wanting Bai to introduce him. Huihuang noticed Nie Yan behind the group, his eyes lit up, and he walked towards Nie Yan.

“Didn’t expect to see Brother Nie Yan here,” Huihuang said with pleasant surprise.

“Who are you?” Nie Yan hesitated for a moment, searching his memory before recalling that in Link Town that day, there was indeed such a person behind Ban Xing De Hu Li.

“You might not know me, but I know you. Our guild leader invited you before. That day in Link Town, I was standing behind our leader. Brother Nie Yan, your skills were amazing. At a crucial moment, you tripped Ma Li Heng Dao,” Huihuang spoke of Nie Yan with admiration.

Upon hearing Huihuang’s words, curious glances were cast from the team members. What was Nie Yan’s background? Even the leader of the Holy Roman Empire knew him. As for Ma Li Heng Dao, he was apparently the leader of Hei Sha Sha Lu. The people Nie Yan associated with were all big shots.

“Do you know Brother Nie Yan?” Bai Kaishui asked beside him, slightly surprised.

“Not only do I know him, Brother Nie is now a celebrity in our Holy Roman Empire. Our guild leader invited him to join us in the Ogmart Mudflats, but Nie Yan set some harsh conditions—being able to choose all the rogue equipment. Not a single person in our guild dared to speak to our leader like that,” Huihuang said enthusiastically. He was a straightforward person and didn’t hide his admiration for Nie Yan at all.

The team members looked at each other in surprise. Ban Xing De Hu Li, what kind of person was he? He was the leader of the Holy Roman Empire, a legendary figure. He invited Nie Yan to join the Ogmart Mudflats, and Nie Yan still dared to set conditions. This clearly meant Ban Xing De Hu Li was practically begging Nie Yan to join!

As the leader of a guild, could Ban Xing De Hu Li’s judgment be wrong?

Doesn’t that mean Nie Yan is a godlike figure that every elite group is desperate to recruit? Viewed this way, the conditions Nie Yan set for joining their team in the Treant Grove were actually quite lenient.

Huihuang was from the Holy Roman Empire, so his words should be genuine.

“Miao Miao, you’ve brought us a real big shot,” Yu Lan joked.

Miao Miao raised her eyebrows, feeling proud as well.

Chen Bo hadn’t expected Nie Yan to have such a big background. Realizing he was not on the same level as Nie Yan, he deflated like a withered eggplant, standing aside sulking and secretly harboring some malicious thoughts, determined to make Nie Yan pay a price.

As the other team members looked at Nie Yan, their eyes gleamed with unusual excitement, each speculating about Nie Yan’s background.

Tang Yao was even more elated, nudging Nie Yan with his elbow and whispering, “Not bad, kid. You’ve been hiding deep. When did you get to know the leader of the Holy Roman Empire?”

“Yesterday,” Nie Yan replied calmly. Recognition wasn’t given by others but earned through one’s own merits. Honestly, without real skills, even if Ban Xing De Hu Li had given him the utmost respect, it wouldn’t have mattered. His immediate goal was to lead the team through the Treant Grove first.

However, he was attempting the expert difficulty, something no team dared to touch lightly!

“Everyone’s here now. Let’s head out,” Nie Yan said, walking towards the town’s exit.

“Why is Brother Nie Yan still going to the Treant Grove instance?” Huihuang asked in confusion. Logically speaking, with Nie Yan’s strength, there was no need to waste time on such a low-level instance as the Treant Grove.

“I need the Featherfall Gem from the Treant Grove, and there are a few top-tier rogue equipment pieces in there. Maybe one or two might drop,” Nie Yan replied. After all, everyone would find out eventually, so there was no need to hide. His impression of Huihuang was quite positive.
