Chapter 4: The Flying Stone

“Wait, you said the coordinates are what? Do a lot of stealth skill books really drop there?” the Muted Paladin asked, half-believing what Nie Yan said.

“22385.21338.23329. It’s close to the Cursed Warlock Camp, but far enough away to be absolutely safe. After farming for twenty minutes, a Cursed Warlock spawns every five seconds. Muted Paladin, you can farm there until you reach level five. Kid, you’re still too green. Just a bit of gaming experience from this master can benefit you forever.” Nie Yan boastfully patted the Muted Paladin on the shoulder. “So, how about giving you a discount?”

“Four copper coins, no less,” the Muted Paladin half-doubted Nie Yan’s words. However, he had indeed farmed about six Cursed Warlocks a day outside the Cursed Warlock Camp. He had been to the Cursed Warlock Camp before and nearly died there. The coordinates Nie Yan provided should be just outside the Cursed Warlock Camp.

Nie Yan’s words completely matched what he already knew, so the Muted Paladin was convinced there was no falsehood. He hesitated, wondering whether he should go check out those coordinates.

“Three copper coins. If you won’t accept it, I’ll leave. But if you do give me one for free, I can share a little secret about the Cursed Warlock Camp,” Nie Yan said. Seeing the Muted Paladin still hesitating, he turned to leave.

Nie Yan was short on funds and couldn’t afford to buy stealth skill books. However, stealth skill books were essential for every rogue at the beginning. If necessary, he could first go to a level one monster spawn area to earn some money.

“Wait,” seeing Nie Yan about to leave, the Muted Paladin quickly called him back and picked up a stealth skill book from his stall. “It’s just a stealth skill book, I can farm six of them a day. Here, you can have this one. Tell me what’s going on with the Cursed Warlock Camp.” He was planning to go there with his teammates soon and wanted to know more about the camp. Nie Yan seemed to really know what he was talking about.

This Muted Paladin seemed like an honest guy. Nie Yan felt very happy about getting a stealth skill book without spending a single coin.

“Since you seem pretty honest, forget about going to those coordinates I told you about earlier. If you go there to farm monsters, within five minutes you’ll be attacked by three Cursed Demon Warlock Leaders, and a single fireball will blow you away,” Nie Yan casually revealed.

The Muted Paladin broke into a cold sweat and his heart sank. He had just been excited about the fast spawn rate Nie Yan mentioned and was planning to try his luck at those coordinates. He hadn’t expected it to be a fake location and so dangerous. If he hadn’t stopped Nie Yan, the consequences would have been unimaginable. Dying there would have been such a waste.

Nie Yan was truly cunning, manipulating people without even lifting a finger.

The Muted Paladin had originally felt regret about giving away the stealth skill book, but now he felt relieved. Compared to his life, a stealth skill book was insignificant. The death penalty would cost him a level and a piece of equipment. It turned out that being kind-hearted had its benefits.

Seeing the Muted Paladin looking at him with a pitiful gaze, Nie Yan chuckled awkwardly. “The real coordinates are 22325.21383.23359. There, you can really get ten stealth skill books a day. Farming monsters there is fast and it’s a great place to level up. This time I’m not lying to you. As a thank you for giving me a basic skill book, consider this information as a reward. As for the Cursed Warlock Camp, it’s a twenty-player dungeon. The shield warrior’s defense requirement is 72, and the Paladin and Priest have higher requirements. The Paladin’s will needs to be at least 8, and the Priest should learn Minor Healing and have a healing amount of at least 30. Also, you must bring enough health potions and mana potions.”

“The requirements are so high. My will is only 7. Can I still enter? Minor Healing skill books are too expensive, they’ve been sold at astronomical prices, and even then, they’re hard to find. Only one Priest in our team has it. We’re going to the Cursed Warlock Camp to get a Minor Healing skill book. Can’t we enter the camp without meeting the requirements?” the Muted Paladin asked.

“You can still enter, but you’ll need a special strategy…”

“What special strategy?” the Muted Paladin asked.

Nie Yan smiled without answering. He might also want to enter the Cursed Warlock Camp in the future, and he wouldn’t share the strategy unless others were willing to pay a sufficient price.

“All dungeons are divided into five difficulty levels: Easy, Normal, Hard, Expert, and Master. If you’re not confident, you can choose the Easy difficulty. It’s not that hard, and if you don’t meet the requirements, you can just improve yourselves,” Nie Yan evaded the question. He wouldn’t easily reveal the Cursed Warlock Camp strategy for just one stealth skill book.

Although Nie Yan was only level one, he appeared very professional. After weighing the options, the Muted Paladin decided to trust Nie Yan’s words.

“Thank you,” the Muted Paladin sincerely said.

Nie Yan chuckled. This guy gave him a stealth skill book and still thanked him. He was really adorable. In his previous life, he had been just as honest, but after experiencing more, he gradually became more cunning. Although he thought the Muted Paladin was pretty foolish, Nie Yan had a good impression of him. He waved the skill book in his hand and said, “We both got what we wanted.”

As Nie Yan turned to leave, the Muted Paladin called him back. “Expert, what’s your name? Let’s add each other as friends. If I have any questions I don’t know in the future, I can ask you.”

“I charge consultation fees,” Nie Yan replied. He didn’t want to become a free customer service.

“No problem,” the Muted Paladin readily agreed.

“Alright, my name is Nie Yan. If you’re willing to pay a sufficient price, I don’t mind giving you some information. It’s like earning extra income,” Nie Yan said.

“My name is Fei Lai Shi Tou. My friends call me Shi Tou,” the Muted Paladin Shi Tou said, adding Nie Yan as a friend.

“Alright, I have something to do. I’ll head out first. See you later,” Nie Yan said, bidding farewell to Shi Tou and heading towards the teleportation point. He learned the stealth skill. Rogues couldn’t compare to other melee classes in armor and health at the beginning. At the initial stage, they could only farm weak monsters of the same level, and even then, only one-on-one. If they encountered slightly stronger monsters or more than two monsters, they could only run for their lives. Unlike warriors, who could handle two same-level monsters upon starting, and with better equipment, could handle three or more. Therefore, unless rogues were in a team, their leveling speed could never match that of warriors or mages.

Currently, the highest player level was five, and the highest level among rogues was around four.

At the beginning, rogues had to constantly earn money to buy skill books. Their strength could only be further demonstrated after enriching their skills, and their leveling speed could gradually increase.

Now, Nie Yan had his first skill in his skill bar: Stealth.

Stealth was the most basic yet most powerful skill for rogues.

He teleported to Trak Town, a very ordinary town in the Carol Plains. It was an NPC settlement with houses made of mud, giving it a unique prairie town charm. Many players were leveling up here, making it particularly lively.

The monsters around the town ranged from level 0 to 10.

The town was full of players at levels two and three, either trading items or seeking to form parties to farm monsters. It felt crowded when walking on the streets.

If his memory was correct, there was a silver chest in the wildcat monster area of Trak Town. He had discovered it in his previous life, and it contained a rare rogue skill book. It was in a level five monster area and should not have been visited by anyone yet.

Most players leveling up in parties were in groups of three to five, or even ten. However, experience was thinly spread among large groups, making it unprofitable. It was rare to see a group of three to five players capable of farming in the level five monster area.

Chests were categorized from white chests, silver chests, gold chests, to dark gold chests and legendary chests. Higher-tier chests yielded better loot. The contents of the chests were fixed, and the chest would disappear once the items were taken.

Although he was only level zero, after acquiring the stealth skill, Nie Yan started planning to target that chest.
