Chapter 1148: Declaration

Even with his blade serving as eyes and ears, Meng Qi could not clearly perceive the movements high above. All he could discern were the collapsing skies around him and the all-consuming destruction that felt so real. A near-primordial emptiness surged wildly, bringing darkness without light. Only when illuminated by flashes of lotus light and thunderbolts did this void resemble monstrous gaping mouths—contact with which would reduce Arhats to ashes and make even Bodhisattvas struggle to survive, as if it were the final age of Dharma decline.

Under such terrifying devastation of heaven and earth, Meng Qi gripped his long blade tightly, standing firm atop the mountain peak. He carved out a pure land from chaos, where mud and stone settled, day and night alternated, and flowers bloomed and withered with the passing season.

His blade light continuously shifted between hardness and softness, solid as a boulder, blocking the waves of destruction and imprinting an overwhelming sense of power upon the minds of deities like Huiguang and Luojia.

Qing Qiu gazed at the void above, a place where even the passage of time seemed imperceptible. Then she looked at Meng Qi, who wielded the peerless blade, and finally at the massive hole revealed by the extraction of the Golden-Hooped Rod. The hole’s depths were dark and unfathomable, seemingly endless and chilling, its entrance shrouded in bubbling black mist like boiling water.

As if suddenly enlightened, she murmured softly, “So that’s how it is…”

No wonder there was no need to worry about Su Meng’s hidden intentions or attempts to interfere…

While blocking the collapse of the heavens, Meng Qi’s thoughts surged. He never expected this journey to Vulture Peak Mountain to take such a dramatic turn.

He had anticipated difficulties. Certain beings wouldn’t idly allow the release of the remaining Great Sages of the demon race. He had also expected to encounter formidable foes, such as the sentient remnants of Jiaye’s corpse or the Ten-Thousand-Buddha Golden Body. Yet even with such expectations, how could he have imagined that the rear peak of Vulture Peak Mountain was sealing a monster so terrifying, mysterious, and bizarre? Nor could he have foreseen that at the crucial moment, the Equal-to-Heaven Great Sage, Sun Wukong, would suddenly appear and strike for the first time in ten thousand eons.

The confrontation between two supreme Grand Adepts, each wielding power at least at the Creation level, would unleash devastating shockwaves capable of annihilating all beings below the Legendary realm—including himself, the mightiest among the lesser ranks—reducing them to mere dust. Were it not for the peerless blade absorbing Ananda’s benevolent intent and partially disrupting the印记 of the Demon Buddha, he would have been forced to rely solely on the unbreakable bond between the Chaos Green Lotus Seed and himself to escape and reconstruct his Dharma Body within the Jade Void Palace.

As for his projection’s blood-renewal regeneration ability, within Vulture Peak Mountain’s state of massive destruction, being reborn only to die again, and dying only to be reborn, would eventually drain him completely without escape.

His blade danced, creating a world of its own, resisting the spread of destruction. Meng Qi’s heart remained calm, utterly confident about the outcome of the battle above.

The Equal-to-Heaven Great Sage, Sun Wukong, was his childhood idol, hailed alongside Yang Jian as one of the two most promising figures of the new generation of ancient times. Before the great battle of Vulture Peak Mountain, he had already reached the pinnacle of Creation cultivation. Now, fully recovered from his injuries after reappearing in the world, even if he hadn’t reached the Shore of Eternity, he was certainly among the top Grand Adepts of the Creation realm.

As for that monstrous being who claimed to be the “Supreme True Buddha,” although its origins were mysterious and its power bizarre, its displayed aura was terrifyingly formidable—likely also at the peak of the Creation realm. However, it seemed to harbor hidden dangers, which had prevented it from unleashing its full strength initially.

In such a state, how could it possibly withstand the Equal-to-Heaven Great Sage, known as the most formidable fighter below the Shore of Eternity?

Hmm… After the battle ends and calm returns, should I ask the Equal-to-Heaven Great Sage for an autograph, a photo, or even a video message wishing the users of the Real-World Common Script a Happy New Year… As an outstanding “free-thinker” across the Ten-Thousand Worlds, Meng Qi began to seriously contemplate this matter, already envisioning the comments people would make: “Enough already!”

I came here to help free the remaining Great Sages. I haven’t even had the chance to cause any trouble yet, so maybe I can use this opportunity to build a connection. Besides, we both cultivate the Eight-Nine Mystical Art, so there’s a certain inexplicable sense of kinship!

As his thoughts wandered, Meng Qi employed his blade’s intent as his divine sense, scanning for any shifts upon Vulture Peak. He feared that if the mountain were to crumble entirely, it might disrupt the Buddha’s seal, potentially freeing the Demon Buddha—a catastrophe that would bring ruin to all.

His blade intent permeated everywhere, like a fundamental force, thoroughly inspecting every detail of Vulture Peak Mountain. Suddenly, Meng Qi noticed a dark-gold figure dodging the residual shockwaves left after he blocked them, continuously flickering forward, each step producing a lotus bloom, heading toward the tranquil pure land atop the mountain peak.

Jiaye’s corpse? Meng Qi felt slightly surprised, then sighed:

After gaining a bit of sentience, even Jiaye’s corpse knew to seek safety and avoid danger. No wonder all the Buddha and Bodhisattva Golden Bodies within the Ten-Thousand-Buddha Formation had been absorbed by that monster, while Jiaye’s corpse barely survived…

All absorbed, barely surviving… Suddenly, a flash of insight struck Meng Qi’s mind, revealing the flaw and weakness of the “Supreme True Buddha”!

When He proclaimed the attainment of Bodhi, with all Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Arhats, Vajras, and Kings becoming His incarnations, declaring that throughout the Three Realms and Ten Directions, across all the Ten Thousand Worlds, there existed only this one Supreme True Buddha—this was not merely a description or aspiration but a factual assertion. As more and more Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Arhats, Vajras, and Kings became His incarnations—that is, were devoured and assimilated—He grew increasingly complete and powerful. Once all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas across the Three Realms and Ten Directions, throughout the Ten Thousand Worlds, had been integrated into Him, He alone would stand as the Supreme True Buddha, having achieved the Fruit of the Dao.

Currently, Jiaye’s Golden Body remained unabsorbed on Vulture Peak Mountain, so He had not yet stabilized His perfected Creation-level state, hence His initial restraint in combat, fearing the dissipation of His power!

Therefore, His sole intent toward Meng Qi’s group was merely a desire to kill, with His main focus on Jiaye’s corpse. When the Equal-to-Heaven Great Sage appeared, He did not retreat immediately because He was unwilling to abandon the opportunity for self-completion!

More importantly, the Equal-to-Heaven Great Sage himself possessed a Buddha Body—the Victorious Fighting Buddha!

As this realization struck, Meng Qi’s heart suddenly sank. He now viewed Jiaye’s retreat toward the mountain peak of Vulture Peak Mountain in an entirely different light.

He was afraid the monster would seize the chance to devour him!

As this thought arose, Meng Qi raised his left hand and adjusted his Daoist cap slightly.

The dark-gold figure, bowing with clasped fists, rapidly approached Vulture Peak Mountain. As he was about to reach the pure land, suddenly, from behind him, a golden beam erupted forth—a massive tentacle-like appendage, its tip bearing eyes and a mouth, resembling a face filled with compassion and mercy. Yet its mouth gaped wide, revealing forty gleaming white teeth, devouring Jiaye’s corpse in a horrifying contrast that sent chills down the spine.

Jiaye’s corpse had evidently weakened, its dark golden radiance dimmed from previous confrontations with the “Supreme True Buddha.” Now, facing the expanding golden beam and the gaping maw, it seemed utterly fragile. Whether summoning the Void, the Palm of Light, or any other Buddhist supernatural power or martial technique, none could penetrate the golden beam—each was either deflected or absorbed. In an instant, it was overwhelmed, on the verge of being swallowed and dissolved by the golden light.

At this moment, a verdant sword beam shot forth from the rear peak of Vulture Peak Mountain, hazy and indistinct, seemingly real yet illusory, brimming with Bodhi intent. As if guided by some mysterious connection, it skillfully bypassed the shattered gaps and descended from afar.

Meanwhile, on the other side, a tall and majestic figure hovered above the pure land atop the mountain peak, wielding a sword that shifted through five colors—crimson, azure, yellow, white, and black—striking downward with the force to pierce the void. At the same time, a white-robed swordsman, surrounded by the cry of phoenixes and wielding wind and fire as his sword beam, slashed coldly downward.

Most terrifying of all was the massive skeletal figure emerging from the darkness, glowing with white light. It strode forth from the pure land, conjuring a blood-yellow river that transformed into a terrifying sword qi resembling the Abandon and Devour Blades, piercing through destruction straight toward the monster.

Four swords united, the Sword of Annihilation was formed, heralding the end of all!

Layer upon layer of sword formations suddenly contracted, enveloping the golden-beam tentacle with the ferocious face.

Sword qi entangled, sword beams clashed, distorting time and space, confusing the senses. The “Supreme True Buddha’s” separated tentacle monster was completely thrown into chaos and destruction.

The sword formation shrank smaller and smaller, resembling an egg, like primordial chaos, while Jiaye’s corpse seized the opportunity to pass through the gap Meng Qi had deliberately left, entering the pure land atop the mountain.

Just then, the egg cracked, and the golden-beam monster burst forth. Although dimmed, it broke through the formation purely by force, displaying terrifying power.

Witnessing this battle, deities like Luojia and Feixiang felt their hearts racing. Without even employing their peerless divine treasures, the Palace Master Su of the Jade Void Palace had demonstrated Heavenly Immortal-level power that far exceeded their wildest expectations.

They had initially thought that at the level of a Heavenly Immortal, they had already reached the peak, merely awaiting the breakthrough of the “I am I” barrier to open the door to Legend, with no further room for improvement in combat power. But now, they finally realized that even at the summit of a hundred-foot pole, there was still higher ground to ascend—there is no ultimate limit, only greater strength!

Yet despite this, the monster still managed to break free, its essence seemingly beyond resistance.

Suddenly, a golden Buddha’s hand emerged from the void, its palm cradling layers upon layers of pure lands, encompassing the Three Realms and Ten Directions, as it pressed down directly upon the golden-beam monster.

With a single slap, the monster was reduced to minced meat, then to meat paste, then to ashes scattered into nothingness.

Just one palm strike!

Meng Qi raised his gaze and saw a pair of wise eyes piercing through the illusions of the Myriad Worlds.

Victorious Fighting Buddha!

You have a severed body, but I have a Buddha Body!

Before Meng Qi could think further, a surge of monstrous aura erupted nearby, transforming the surroundings into a hazy, dim environment.

From the massive hole left by the Golden-Hooped Rod emerged a gigantic dark shadow, muscular and powerful, with horns atop its head. Each step it took seemed to shake the Ten-Thousand Worlds, instinctively making Meng Qi hold his breath.

What an overwhelming presence!

The shadow tilted its head upward, laughing heartily, revealing two rows of gleaming white teeth:

“Across the Ten-Thousand Worlds, Old Bull is back!”

“Great Sage Equaling Heaven!” Upon hearing this, Feixiang murmured in reverence, while deities like Luojia and Huiguang also displayed excitement. These were the legendary Great Sages!

Upon hearing the proclamation of the Ox King, Meng Qi immediately snapped out of his daze, his lips twitching slightly as his face remained expressionless. Instinctively, he raised his left hand to his forehead and sighed softly to himself, “Country bumpkin…”
