What exactly is Zhai Mo angry about? Even he himself doesn’t know.
All he knows is that he gets angry when he wakes up in the morning and sees Zhai Zuozuo sitting at the table in her pajamas, her fair thighs exposed, eating breakfast.
He also gets angry when he wakes up and *doesn’t* see Zhai Zuozuo sitting at the table in her pajamas, her fair thighs exposed, eating breakfast.
On the way to the office, he gets angry when Zhai Zuozuo, drowsy in the car, accidentally leans her head against him.
He also gets angry when Zhai Zuozuo, drowsy in the car, leans her head against the window instead of him.
At work, he gets angry when Zhai Zuozuo stands beside him, staring at him while he works.
He also gets angry when Zhai Zuozuo sprawls on the sofa playing on her phone all morning or afternoon without even glancing at him while he works.
He gets angry when Zhai Zuozuo jokes around with the beautiful women in the company.
He also gets angry when Zhai Zuozuo talks to him in the same tone she uses with those women.
At dinner, he gets angry when Zhai Zuozuo picks up food for him with chopsticks that have touched her mouth.
He also gets angry when Zhai Zuozuo eats by herself without picking up food for him.
Zhai Mo feels like he’s going insane.
Driven mad by a good-for-nothing.
Yao Zuizui pretends not to notice Zhai Mo’s suffering every day, playing the game of playing hard to get with practiced ease.
First, she gives him a little sweetness, then hits him with a stick, then gives him another little sweetness. Watching Zhai Mo get tossed around by her every day fills her with secret delight.
Zhai Mo realizes that his current state is very abnormal. He locks himself in his room and thinks all night, finally coming to a conclusion.
The problem is that their lives are just too boring.
Every day, all he does is work, with no hobbies or interests. And this good-for-nothing keeps dangling in front of him—no wonder he’s going crazy.
Zhai Mo decides to find a girlfriend to spice up his dull life and ease his tense nerves.
Of course, he won’t pick some random woman like Zhai Zuozuo does—he has standards.
He’ll take his time getting to know someone, spend a few months together before confirming a relationship, and then wait a few more months before holding hands.
He would *never* be like that good-for-nothing, who gets together with women within ten minutes of meeting them.
After careful consideration, Zhai Mo settles on a wealthy heiress whose family has long wanted to ally with the Zhai Group through marriage.
This heiress is beautiful, with a good personality—gentle, refined, and well-versed in etiquette since childhood, carrying herself with grace.
She also holds a master’s degree from one of the world’s top three universities—both talented and beautiful, with suitors lining up around the entire city of S.
Yet, for some reason, she has her eyes set on Zhai Mo.
Since Zhai Mo also wants to try having a girlfriend, he agrees to meet her.
But within five minutes of their meeting, he regrets it.
The more he looks at her, the more he dislikes her.
It’s just a meal, yet she wears a deep-V dress, occasionally bending over to show off her perfect figure.
One accidental glance makes him nauseous, and instead, his mind drifts to Zhai Zuozuo in her plain white shirt—at least that’s comfortable, not disgusting.
And then, this woman speaks with an air of superiority, name-dropping historical and literary references within three sentences.
It makes him lose his appetite before even eating, and he can’t help but think that even though the good-for-nothing is uncultured and speaks crudely, at least she’s straightforward and genuine.
Worst of all, the way this woman looks at him irritates him—her gaze is full of possessiveness, as if he’s already hers.
Nothing like the way the good-for-nothing looks at him. When he thought she liked him, her eyes sparkled like stars in the sky, not like this woman’s cheap, fake crystal gaze.
And then, this woman actually picks out food she doesn’t like and tries to put it on his plate.
They’ve just met! They’re not even in a relationship!
Zhai Zuozuo can freely pick food for him because they’re siblings—who does this woman think she is?
Zhai Mo can’t stand the way this woman looks at him as if they’re already a couple. He’s completely dissatisfied with her and just wants to go home and see Zhai Zuozuo to calm himself down.
Making up an excuse to brush her off and hinting that they won’t meet again, Zhai Mo rushes back to the Zhai residence.
At that moment, Yao Zuizui is sprawled on the sofa, bored out of her mind, flipping through TV channels without finding anything interesting.
Zhai Mo has been controlling her more and more lately—no going out with other girls, no drinking, just following him to work every day, reading boring documents and sitting through dull meetings.
And now, he’s gone on a blind date, leaving her alone at home.
Yao Zuizui is *very* unhappy, feeling like she’s growing mushrooms from boredom.
When she hears Zhai Mo return, she barely lifts an eyelid to glance at him before closing her eyes again, uninterested.
Being ignored irritates Zhai Mo. He walks over, drops his keys on the coffee table, and loosens his tie.
“Have you eaten?”
“Yeah,” Yao Zuizui mumbles, her head drooping.
“What’s wrong? Are you sick?” Zhai Mo reaches out to touch her forehead—the smooth, delicate skin burns his fingers, and he pulls back immediately.
Yao Zuizui looks at him strangely, and Zhai Mo also feels a little off.
It must be the psychological trauma from that woman earlier!
Remembering the nightmare of today, the strange sensation from earlier vanishes without a trace.
“You’re not sick,” Zhai Mo says, studying her.
“I’m *so* bored, Ge!” Yao Zuizui suppresses her voice, punching the pillow beside her.
“Bored?” Zhai Mo doesn’t find life boring at all—work, sleep, eat, it all feels fulfilling.
The only boring part was those ten minutes with that woman earlier…
“Of course I’m bored!” Yao Zuizui purses her lips, then suddenly asks, “Ge, how was the blind date?”
“Not great,” Zhai Mo avoids her gaze. For some reason, he feels embarrassed facing Zhai Zuozuo.
It’s like the guilty feeling a husband has when caught doing something wrong by his wife—he doesn’t understand why his heart is pounding like this.
“Oh~” Yao Zuizui drags out the syllable, understanding dawning on her. Time to add fuel to the fire!
“Ge, you promised to introduce me to a girlfriend. When’s that? Seeing you go on blind dates makes me itch for one too.” She winks at him, making Zhai Mo stand up abruptly.
“Don’t worry, I’m looking! Instead of thinking about women, focus more on work!” Zhai Mo storms upstairs in his slippers, unwilling to continue this conversation.
Watching his flustered retreat, Yao Zuizui smirks, her bright eyes gleaming like stars.
*Ge, when will you realize your feelings for me?*
—
Zhai Mo has *that* dream again.
He dreams of Zhai Zuozuo looking at him with those sparkling, star-like eyes.
…
When he wakes up, the room is filled with the scent of *Photinia*.
Zhai Mo sits on the bed, wide awake, all drowsiness gone.
He realizes he *must* find Zhai Zuozuo a girlfriend as soon as possible.
Once she has a girlfriend, he’ll kick her out to live with her. That way, he won’t have these dreams at night because of daytime distractions…
Sitting in his office, Zhai Mo gazes at the bustling cityscape of S outside his window—a place that never rests.
But his heart is just as chaotic, without a moment’s peace.
He’s already found an excuse to send Zhai Zuozuo away, leaving only him and Assistant Zhou in the office.
“Did you gather all the materials I asked for?” Zhai Mo glances at Assistant Zhou with an authoritative air.
“Yes, yes.” Assistant Zhou hands him a tablet with a photo album, swiping through the images. “Director Zhai, these are the daughters of families willing to ally with the Zhai Group through marriage. I’ve done a preliminary screening.”
“Good. Introduce them one by one.” Zhai Mo’s expression is icy, unreadable.
Assistant Zhou wants to wipe the sweat from his brow but doesn’t dare move recklessly, so he steels himself and begins.
“This is the daughter of Liang Tian, CEO of Liang Tian Corporation. Director, look at her face—completely natural.” The first is a delicate beauty, no less stunning than A-list celebrities.
Zhai Mo skims the profile. “Education level too low. Next.”
Assistant Zhou quickly flips to the next. “Director, this one graduated from the world’s top university, double degree, currently pursuing a Ph.D., IQ 180.”
Zhai Mo glances again. “Not good-looking. Would degrade the Zhai family genes.”
Unable to hold back, Assistant Zhou wipes his sweat and moves to the next. “Director, this one is both beautiful and highly educated.”
Zhai Mo stares for a full minute. “Bad temper. No.”
“Director… the profile doesn’t mention her temper?” Assistant Zhou questions his life choices.
“Her face says it all.” Zhai Mo sips his tea. “Continue.”
Assistant Zhou, unaware that his boss has suddenly developed face-reading skills, obediently flips to the next page, then brightens. “Director, this one! Beautiful, highly educated, and her smile is so sweet—definitely gentle!”
Zhai Mo snorts, slamming his cup down. “Hmph! A woman this good—why should that good-for-nothing get someone like her?!”

**Author’s Note:**
Yao Zuizui’s inner monologue: *If you don’t want me to get a girlfriend, just say so. Who are you being so tsundere for?*
Zhai Mo: *Definitely not for you!*
Sangsang: *It’s for the lovely readers, of course! Hahaha.*
